I brought in a pair of MK leather riding-style boots which I have worn, and loved, for several years. Sadly, the sole had cracked all the way through during a recent move, and I was afraid the boots were a loss. Combed Yelp, took them to Al's right before closing on Friday, and received a text Wednesday morning that my boots were ready. Both soles had been redone to match, and I couldn't even tell which boot was originally damaged. Al also made sure to clean and condition the leather, so they look phenomenal from top to bottom. And all for WAY less than I had anticipated. Plus, Al makes sure you get to your car safely, since a lot of people hang out in the neighborhood at all hours. I brought in 4 pairs of leather and suade shoes to stretch the width. They've completely destroyed 2 pairs stretching them in length instead and did not do anything to the width. One of the pairs was dirty and covered in glue even though I did not order any glue work. The shoes don't fit me anymore. The other 2 pairs were not stretched at all. Went in to have a pair of boots repaired and seen the beautiful boots he makes by hand . Wile I was in Houston a few years ago I ended up buying 7 pairs . And he replaced the soles over night and was done perfect ! Every time I'm it Houston I make a point it stopping in and looking at the boots and matching belts..... Ps the boots are so good I can were the all day and never hurt my feet legs back ... Like some other factory made junk.. The quality of work is great. Would have given 5 stars for the work and price no problem. I was given a week as a expected finish time After 13 days I called to check on them and was told that they would be ready at 4 pm that day. I said ok and that I would pick them up in the morning. I got there at about 1030 to find out that they were not ready yet. So I wasted about 30 min. Disappointing Will I use him again? Maybe. Maybe not. Al is amazing. I brought in 2 belts that I was going to throw away or sell. They didn't fit so I haven't worn them in 5 years or so. A coworker suggested I take them to him to get them resized. He fixed them perfectly and restored the leather. They look brand new now. He fixed them so well that I actually went back and brought a jacket with a leather collar that I needed restored and he fixed that too. Now it looks like a brand new jacket. Fantastic, friendly service and quick turn around. Unfortunately, just 'ok' on repairs. Had them dye and clean a pair of Chanel beige ballet flats. The glaze they used is cracking and while they were pretty dirty and I would not wear them anymore, I really cannot wear them now. I also had them replace a heel and rubber sole a pair of Louboutin flats and the rubber sole lasted one wear before the rubber started to peel off the bottom. I've gotten several resoles there, and not only were they done with great craftsmanship, the price is unbelievably reasonable, and the turn around time is so fast! Really great repair job, even filled a crack at the base of the heel without charge. It cost $27 to have the two rubber base's on the heels replaced, and he did it in only a few hours. I'll definitely be going back here in the future. read more

MY BOOTS LOOK AND FEEL NEW ( not a bad stiff new but just right )!!! Al is very good at what he does. He's very friendly, his prices are just right and he has a fast to normal turn around on your goods. ( Mine was super fast ). I took a pair of custom made boots ( my favorite pair ) in for a resole and they came out great. I've had them for a few years so they were well worn in. Al put new soles on them and brought them back to their original shape. I had heel cushions in them that were worn out and he replaced those for me as well. I tried mine on there when I went to pick them up and they needed 2 minor adjustments and he did them quickly on the spot. I'm extremely happy with him and his work. I have a twenty-three year old pair of high-end German ridiing boots, excellent leather with great memories associated. Two repair places said they couldn't fix the size issue and broken spine of the boots. Al asked for a few day to see what he could do. He really came through. Easily the best repair job ever!!! His workmanship is incredible. I love people that are understated but really deliver. The reason I tried him was his involvement with the local landman organization. I knew those guys appreciated top workmanship. Now I just have to figure our whether I want my first pair of custom made shoes or boots, followed by how I can convince my wife that his workmanship would be the perfect Christmas gift. read more

NEGATIVE STARS! Do not take your shoes here! left my pair of Christian LB'S shoes to be looked at and repaired from tiny scratches and marks and when I got them back they looked as I nothing was done! Actually, something was done, they put random strokes of regular shoe polish on them! It wasn't even blended, and when I pointed out the problem the man told me it was due to normal wear and tear! A black stroke of shoe polish on the side of my shoe and right underneath it on the sole was "normal wear "! The shoes were not even shined or cleaned! The only thing that this shop possibility had going for it is the boots they produce. Never again! read more
