Went there for dinner tonight. It was awful. Seriously the only thing that tasted good was the rolls. I ordered the seafood a la vodka and it had a burnt taste to the sauce. To make matters worse, part of the lobster was cold and raw. The manager did offer to remake it but my appetite was ruined. They did take it off the tab. My Mom ordered the Italian Trio and I tasted her Alfredo and it had no flavor at all. The rest of her meal was not any better. Will not be returning. read more

Try another spot. I arrived town to visit my mother with my son and his wife. This restaurant was recommended. We should have driven to another place once we pulled into the lot. Unfortunately the "jarhead" and "squid" were FAMISHED after their flight...sooo... we braved entrance. Landscaping is unwelcoming and on the door is posted BYOB. Oh boy... we were in for it! Definite understatement!!! Alcohol is NOT served; servers are underage and more interested in their phones than their jobs; food is AWFUL. The Marine and Navy ordered a tour (it's a dish of 3 favs) and lasagna, respectively. I ordered veal picatta (I know... wreckless and ridiculous! ) - sent the picatta back to the kitchen! Bleh! I had the spaghetti with meat sauce and my husband had spaghetti with sausage. At first glance the sauce seemed a little diluted but when I tasted it it was actually good and there was plenty of it. I say "maybe recommend" because I take in everything when I go to a new place. The smell always hits me first. It smelled slightly musty which is a turn off because I wonder what needs to be addressed and it puts me negatively on my guard. Then I look around for cleanliness and it seems pretty clean. We had a polite server nothing negative there. The bread tasted odd. Like it was day old and a bit stale and tough. When we got our dinner I went to add salt and pepper but the salt shaker lid was rusty and the lids on both shakers needed to be cleaned/replaced so no seasoning but the food didn't need it. Personally I won't go back because the smell just turned me off but my nose is more Sensitive than most so someone else might enjoy it. I went here with my partner. This place food wise is an absolute no. The service was amazing and our waitress was super sweet but the food was really just so nasty and inedible. I chose the chicken Alfredo and it was bland and tasteless. The chicken had a weird texture to it (think rubbery play-doh) and I'm sure it was slightly undercooked because I threw up in the establishments bathroom. The sauce was not very good either. I tried to save it by overloading it with pepper provided on the table but there was no hope for it. My partner had the calzone. His experience wasn't much better than mine. We both noticed the cheese in the calzone also having a weird consistency (think milk with cottage cheese chunks occasionally) I'm not sure if it was mixed with the oil or what but maybe steer clear from that as well. Once again all around great service though. Maybe we'll just try again at a later date with other menu options. read more

I am not sure why there were negative reviews because this is the best food I have had since I moved to north Texas. The restaurant is cute with brick accents and Italian background music. I really want to like this place. The server took forever to notice us but once she did she was excellent. The calamari was OK, the side salad was a joke, the lobster ravioli was AMAZING but the eggplant parm wasn't sliced or salted properly and it was like eating a sponge. The big disappointment was the red sauce. The rolls were bland (rolls, not garlic knots) but the sauce from the lobster ravioli was so good that I'd be willing to go back. read more

We were staying at the Holiday Inn & Suites in Gainesville for a few days and the staff at the hotel, as well as some other guests, recommended this place for dinner so we decided to try it out. The locaton was easy to find as it was right off the Highway 35 service road. Service is something Luigi's lacks in. We were the ONLY people in the restaurant and still no one came to check up on the two of us or ask us how our food was. The food, however, made this place better. I had the Chicken Cacciotore which was delicious! It was a lighter dish, if you aren't too fond of heavy Italian dishes. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the speghetini was delicious. "Yes, thank you" "What would you like to drink?" "Coffee and water please" "Ok" All in all, it was by the book...and lacked any personality. She didn't ask about my day, tell me her name, or suggest her favorite dish or appetizer. And while a number of waiters checked in on me throughout my meal (kudos for that), none of them did anything to change my feeling of how generic my experience was. Mid-meal: "Everything ok?" *smrmf mrmf slurp* (me demolishing amazing pasta) "Yes, thank you" Later: "Doing ok?" "Yes, thanks" At the end: "Any tiramisu or cheesecake?" We ordered $60 worth of food to go and I understand everyone is trying their best but we got it home and they didn't give us the salad, the tiramisu, 2 rolls, or the lasagna that comes with the tour of Italy meal. These things happen so I called the restaurant to let them know we were missing items and I was on my way back. The girl kept telling me the lasagna should have been in with the chicken parmesan. I kept telling her it wasn't. I was on the phone with my husband who was looking at it saying it wasn't there and the employees treated me as if I was lying. When my husband called the manager, even he said that the lasagna was in our order. No matter what we said they just kept accusing us of lying. They had already forgotten to give us several items but they just would not admit that they had forgotten the lasagna as well. The food isn't bad and we like to eat at local restaurants but I will never return to Luigi's if that is the way they treat their customers. Don't want to be critical of other Yelpers but how in the H$#L could anyone give this place 5 stars and why is it rated 4 stars overall! First off the smell just walking in the door was a turnoff then we sat in a booth with torn seats. The bread was hard and not really edible. The worst Clams & Linguine ever, way too fishy tasting & smelly. The chicken breast in the Chicken Piccata was too tough to eat and had no flavor at all. Our waitress was more interested sitting in a booth playing on her phone. When she asked how everything was, I said nasty she just replied nasty, then I said it wasn't worth eating and both of our plates were less than half eaten. The food was great..but that was it. Our waitress with strawberry blonde hair rushed us the entire meal and had the attitude of not wanting to be there. Not sure if she doesn't like her job or just life in general. Kept trying to take our plates even with mouths full of food and forks in hand. We tipped her low, even though her service was not even worth the tip she did get. We were in the parking lot saying goodbye and talking for a while, she drove passed in her car and proceeded to scream that "just so you know, that was not a tip!" Then raced off.
