If you're a clam lover like I am, stay away. I always ask before ordering how big the clam bellies are. I was told they were small. I ordered a clam plate and the clam bellies were very large, tough a shoe leather. I'll say the French fries were very good. Cole slaw, just OK. read more

Moved to the area in 2017, and have been to Al's several times already. The service is always excellent, and the food is served up quickly and is wonderful. Al's probably has the best tasting clam chowder, and the best whole-belly fried clams, that I have ever eaten. The no-frills lobster rolls (as they are supposed to be made, a lot of lobster meat and a little mayo) are fantastic, and very reasonably priced...as are all the items on the menu. We've been going to Al's Seafood forever in a day and we've now found our best place to eat seafood. Atmosphere is very comfortable and any food is great there! Let us tell you what we had today....with the lobster pie you get great coleslaw, a delicious twice baked potato, wedge of lemon, and a warm crusty roll! Really good seafood at really good prices. You order at a window and get a number and depending on how busy, you go get or if they're not busy, they'll bring it to you. I had the Haddock fish sandwich the first time and the 2nd time the seafood platter for one. The for one isn't even close by a long shot, get it and plan on sharing it as it's a ton of food. Went with my boyfriend when were craving clam chowder. We each got a bowl and it started off promising tasting good at first. However half way through eating it my boyfriend pulled what looked like a piece of plastic out of his mouth. If that wasn't bad enough he examined the rest and pulled out a hair that was definitely not mine or his. The employee who came to our table said it was actually a shrimp shell. It did not feel or look like a shrimp shell but regardless should not be in the clam chowder anyway? They offered to refund our money for the chowders since we ordered meals also. We later realized they gave us back the incorrect amount and it was less than what we paid for both bowls. We could have asked but feel like it would have been common courtesy and basic customer service to refund our whole bill considering the total was only $30, there was someone's hair in it and it was not a pleasant experience. The rest of the food wasn't bad, but was mediocre. To say the least we were not impressed and will not be back. read more

Just love Al's! I'm a loyal fan although Beach Plum is a close second. I love the rolls and fries with the rolls at Al's. It's not a deal breaker, but on vacation I like a few sinly foods so the fries win me over. Lobster roll is delicious, but its the clam roll that always gets me to go back. Huge belly clams on a soft roll that can't be beat. Bought fish at the market last time and it was very fresh. The girls waiting on us gave us a run down on when the fish came in and from where. It helps to have this information when picking out fish for a party of 7! Reasonable prices and better selection than the local markets. Keep up the great work Al's!! read more

we've been going to Al's for years, usually a bunch of us. It is usually crowded so time accordingly. The food is routinely good. Their rice pilaf strangely has a curry taste, but still good. Fried clams, scallops shrimps all great. Clam chowder is the best around. (Note: if anyone says they had clam "strips" they obviously are in the wrong place and you should ignore their advice.) You order at the window and they deliver to your table. Service is very fast. Ambience is excellent for a nice meal. Strangely though, the last two time we went our lobsters came out very late. The others at my table had eaten their food and we needed a to-go bag. Nothing was comped for this inconvenience. Maybe a fluke. read more

Our order of steamers included two that were so spoiled they actually smelled like sewerage. The waitress said she'd "look into it" and never returned. Therefore, they're getting a bad review. I should have reported them to the board of health. I will never go there again. read more

I rarely do reviews and they are usually because of bad service but I had to comment about Al's. My wife of 53 Years and I (the lucky one) are "snowbirds." We coe up from Orlando every summer to spend time with kids and grandkids. Invariably there is a big family pool outing at one of my kid's homes and we all bring something.I have consistently ordered the 2-3 pound Jumbo Shrimp platter from Al's. I cannot tell you how well they are received from kids and grandkids alike. As long as the "good Lord is willin' and the crick don't rise", we will keep repeating our order/s. The shrimp are not overcooked, they are well presented, and enjoyed by "old folks" and kids. read more

One of the best seafood restaurants on the seacoast. Portions could be a little bigger but overall good quality food. They also sell fresh fish and lobster at a reasonable price, varies by season. It's the ONLY place I will go to buy fresh haddock to bake at home, always fresh. Nice family oriented dining area with no pressure from waiters, great place to enjoy dinner if you have young ones at home. Homemade tartar sauce tops off the meal! read more

We've been to Al's about 10 times and although I don't think it's a great place to eat, it is decent and we keep going back. I want so bad for these guys to get it right but we've been disappointed on more than one occasion. The last time we went provoked me to right this review. We ordered the fish and chips (fried haddock) and our food was not cooked properly. The fish was undercooked and the plate was very watery. We sent it back and they cooked it a little longer and it was better but they brought back the plate with the original fries which were now cold and soggy. I brought this to the attention of the girl at the counter and she took our plates a second time. I'm not sure if they just reheated our fries but when we got our plates back the fries were hot but the fish was now cold. OYE! What they should have done is let us keep our fish plate and just brought out some new, warm fries. We also ordered the steamers which were okay but our lobster roll was a little on the small side for $15 bucks. (We normally go to the Beach Plum for lobster rolls which BTW are fantastic and weight a ton). Al's isn't a bad place but it's not a great place IMO. Also, I think the prices are a little steep for an "in the rough" type of place where you order at a counter and they bring you the food, plastic utensils, etc. read more
