Alsip Home and Nursery is an emporium of plants, pets and outdoor furnishing with a large parking lot. The houseplant selection is very good. The outdoor plant department changes with the seasons but you can count on mums for fall, posies for spring and all the perennials in between. The draw is the special events. I recently attended the winter porch planter workshop and it was wonderful! Great instruction and value. They also have plant nights, reptile events, pet events, and Santa. I've always enjoyed going to Alsip Nursery in Frankfort. I bought a lot of shrubs and flowers there recently and when I go there I ALWAYS make time to visit Cache Creek Rescue inside the store. I am completely saddened that Alsip has given the rescue 40 days to vacate. Before Cache Creek operated there Alsip sold puppies. We bought our Boston Terrier there. Bella lived a great life for 16 years. I will no longer buy anything here because of Alsips owners cold hearted actions. read more

They have limited time​ to not only move themselves but the many animals they care for. Ordered 4 Bloem Dura Cotta Plastic Window Box, Terra Cotta, 36 in. that were supposed to come w/ a support bar that helps hold the boxes shape, preventing center box bulge. The support bars were not included, @ $30 a box. I attempted to send an email about it via their online platform, but got a "Capcha verify failed" error message when there is not even a "capcha" box to fill in. Then, I called & got a recorded message saying that online sales help was not available & that I'd have to leave a message. My 1st & last time ordering from this company. read more

Very unhappy with the interaction I had yesterday with the manager of the store. I had recently purchased supplies for a starter 40 gallon tank that I was setting up. I went into the store on 5/15/26 and spoke to an assistant in the pet department and bought what was suggested and felt pleased with the help I received. I spent about $200.00 in supplies and when it came time to clean the tank the siphon gravel cleaner would not hold a prime resulting in no water flow. On Friday 6/26/26 I brought the siphon to the service desk and was told it was past the 30 days and she could not authorize the return. She said she could get the manager to see if there was anything that could be done. When the manager arrived I was told it was past the 30 days and no refund could be issued. I said it was defective and this was the first time it was needed to be used. She said well anyways without all the packaging it could not be resold. I said it was defective, how could you resell it, also the packaging consisted of a wrapper that was unsalvageable and not usable; it did not come in a box or container. She said there wasn't anything she could do, I asked if I could have a store credit to purchase a different style or brand and was told no. This was literally 42 days after the purchase and the first time used since the purchase per your stores suggestion. It was the first time my tank needed cleaning. The siphon was only $18.99 and the cost doesn't even matter to me, it was the EXTREMELY POOR customer service and quick non-caring answers I received that makes me never want to visit your store again. This is yet another reason people turn to on-line retailers and turn their backs on dealing with retail un-empathetic staff. Even if a manager or employee has to fake it, a little compassion and customer care goes a long way. read more

Fair prices, some are definitely more expensive than others. The staff have always been very friendly and helpful. I've passed by this place only assuming it was a plant nursery / store and nothing more after driving back and forth on LaGrange road periodically. My wife actually convinced me to come and I was blown away actually because it was so much more. Most of the negative complaints are mainly about the plants but I only came here to take advantage of the post Christmas holiday sales! They had solar power lights that were 50 percent off at a great price! Plenty of other great holiday decor you can stock on until next year. Staff here was also friendly. I also wanted to take the time after the lights and Christmas decorations to check out the rest of the store and visit the animals. Never knew they had dogs and cats for adoption. Even featured a friendly tortoise, farrets, fish. Great plethora of pet accessories. Also really enjoyed the casual home decor and gift section in another part of the store. Your outside vision can come to life at Alsip nursery. I've been going here for years, and I've never been disappointed in my purchases, and the customer service is outstanding. Today I purchased a Magnolia tree and a Redbud Eastern tree. It was Earth Day so I got 20% off the magnolia tree. They do charge for delivery which can be a little pricey, but for me, the convenience was necessary. Alsip nursery is huge you can get lost in there if you are not careful but more than likely you can find just about anything you need or want. read more

Ordered 11 items, all in stock at the time ordered, they shipped only 3........18 days after the order was placed. Now things are out of stock. No contact, no apologies. The shipping charge was more than the cost of what they finally sent. Only after I complained did I hear from them: excuses, long emails with "explanations" of how busy they are, why they didn't send what was ordered, and why it was sent so late. Blah blah. Good but pricy selection of annuals and perennials normally. Not sure if the weird weather was a factor or the staff is just overwhelmed, but the vegetable and herb area was dying and looking very neglected. Pond supplies / plants are sparse and basically half dead too. But they are still charging $6 for an algae-encrusted 2" water lettuce or water hyacinth with sun scorched dead leaves and deteriorating roots. I'll have to find another place to get pond plants and supplies. read more

It's hollow marketing as I can't imagine they grant it for anyone based on the hoops I went through to get a straight answer. I wish I had more time and energy to spend at Elsa nursery, because they have the most unique gifts in the atmosphere is just so magical. Especially at Christmas, you can go in and just feel like you're in a movie with beautifully decorated trees, music, and even the smell of Christmas trees. I really love their pet section as well, and I buy all of my greenery for winter and all of my plants for summer here. It is now Thursday and one has completely died despite daily watering and the rain we have received. That's not the biggest issue. I called and explained what happened including it was the only plant with issues. The young man simply asked what type of flower and when I responded gave the most dry answer ever. Pro: they adopt out puppies and have a decent pet supply selection. Con: the puppies still don't seem like they're properly taken care of and are housed in cramped glass box cages. Still can't get an answer why they can't use some of the space in their large facility and give them better and more comfortable cages. That's just basic. Will NEVER shop here again. I purchased 8 of the Modern Miracle plants in June and they died within a matter of days. I didn't do anything. I went back a couple of weeks later and purchased 5 more Modern Miracle plants and 3 bamboo plants. Those plants also died in a matter of days. I took pictures and called and spoke to Hans, whom was very disinterested and aloof. He stated, "I don't know anything about bamboo plants. What do you want me to do?". I said, "would you like for me to bring them back?". He said, "that's fine.". I go to the store and after waiting 5 minutes for someone to come to customer service, the young lady came to help me. She was very polite and called Hans. After waiting another 5 plus min, I had to ask her if he was coming up front. She told me he said, "someone from the nursery can help her.". He didn't even bother to come up front! After waiting another 5 min. Okay, this is taking entirely too long. Another young lady, who didn't have on a name tag comes up and I explain everything to her. She tells me, "we don't guarantee perennials." I said, "and how are customers to know such a thing?" She tells me, "the return policy is online. Also, we do not guarantee bamboo because we don't guarantee house plants." ARE YOU KIDDING ME! She proceeds to tell me, "he said I can give you half back.". I said, "oh, he'll talk to you but not a customer. Also, what about my first purchase (at this point, I'm quite ticked with this establishment)?" She told me they can't do anything about that. I will not shop here. They don't guarantee their product and offer no assistance nor an apology for any issues when there's proof their products aren't even sub-par. Do not bring your dogs to Alsip home and nursery in Frankfort IL to get groomed. Brought my 2 black labs there a few months ago, the cut and infected my dogs paw to the point that we had to bring her to the emergency room..... Few months go by, we figure we would give them another try. BOTH of my pups now have a terrible case of Kennel cough and are on antibiotics and cough suppressants with the possibility of developing the pneumonia. Four separate people weren't sure if they carried it - including the information desk. None of them tried to find out for me. Lack of basic training is unacceptable. One of my all time favorite garden centers. It's a 45 minute drive from my home, but well worth it. Alsip Nursery has a section with cute household decor and even clothing that's fun to browse through. But their appeal is the extensive plants. Trees, bushes, perennials, annuals, they have them all. Also a nice variety of pond plants and pond supplies. Their combo planters and hanging baskets are a little pricey, but gorgeous. read more
