Roger is Fantastic ! The ladies in the office are as Professional & Knowledgeable about the products out there as anyone. The repair crew in the back shop are top notch mechanics with small engines. I have bypassed the Big Box stores & purchased multiple Tractors, Lawn Mowers, Trimmers, Blowers, Chainsaw's & other accessories from Roger. My entire family buys their equipment from Alsip Lawn Mower as well. He has always treated me/us well & the ladies up front are always a pleasure to deal with. The Complainers will always complain - it's always an injustice because THEY left the gas in the NEW snow blower or lawn mower without running it dry AND it doesn't start or run the next season. I can't say enough great things about Alsip Lawnmower. All the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. But I want to elaborate on what really made me decide to write this review about them. I bought a super recycler mower made by Toro, I brought a home and tried it and there seem to be some kind of issue with the engine. I had a feeling it was an issue with the carburetor, but was just worried more because it was a new mower that I just purchased and it's already having a problem. I called Roger, the owner and explained to him the situation and what was going on. Roger worked with me to get an exchange. I knew it was kind of a longshot to ask for, but the people at Alsip Lawnmower will go above and beyond for you. I purchased all my equipment from them which is now two super recyclers, two echo line trimmers and a backpack blower and any parts I may need for my mowers or equipment. I always recommend anyone I know that needs service for a lawnmower or engine, or is looking for a mower to them, because I know they will be taken care of well. read more

Do not purchase a lawn mowver from this establishment. My parents purchased a Snow thrower last year from this place and it dien't work from the moment they got it home. After returning it, they finally got it replaced 5 weeks later just in time for spring. This season, the thrower continued to give my 76 year old father problems. Roger is the rudest most unprofessional businessman you will meet. Rather then try and help my parents find a solution to the machine he sold them, he basically threw it back in their car and threw them out of the store. Dropped my riding mower off on 6/10, after calling other shops and getting time/cost estimates. I was told it would be a week before someone got around to giving it a look and calling me with an estimate, and then a few days after that for the part to come in and the work to be done. I called them on Wednesday (6/22) and was told that they needed to order the belt, and I'd have my mower back either Friday or Saturday. I called this morning (6/25) for an update and was told that they ordered the wrong belt, and were waiting for the right one. So a week and a half estimated wait will at least double, since only Jesus knows when they place orders for stuff. Why place an order and wait? Go down to the Home Depot and buy the proper belt since YOU screwed up and ordered the wrong one. I highly recommend taking your business elsewhere. They don't stick to the time frame they quote, they don't call when they're supposed to (I asked them to call me when they had the estimate ready, I had to call them), and I'm expecting my $120 repair to suddenly cost more because of their screw-ups. That's three strikes. I'll find someone else to do maintenance and repair on my equipment from now on. One and done. read more

My husband and I have been doing business with Alsip Lawnmower, Inc. for over ten years. We purchased both our lawnmower and snowblower from Roger, and he does preventive maintenance on both machines once a year. Our lawnmower is very near the end of its useful life, and it's gotten a lot of wear-and-tear from mowing twice a week. Two years ago, when its self-propelled drive broke down (a known problem with our model), we told Roger we wanted to buy a new mower and intended to buy from him. Roger contacted the manufacturer and installed a relatively inexpensive fix that has added at least two years to our mower's life. He easily could have sold us another mower. Instead, he researched the problem and repaired the machine, garnering considerably less profit in the exchange. This is the kind of honest businessman you want to deal with. Roger is knowledgeable, competent, professional, and friendly. We wouldn't take our mower and snowblower anywhere else. read more

First they charge you a $40.00 deposit non refundable...... Brought our lawn mower in all it needed was tune up after a 3 week wait they said it needed a tune up n gas line (which it didn't need) total bill was 180.00 ( which tune up was only 30.00)....we said forget it .....they kept our deposit!!! Very unsatisfied....very disappointed will never go here again!!!! read more

So I brought my lawn mower to this place since it's close to the house. They were great at first. Then when I picked up my lawnmower it would only run on choke. Ok so I can't pick a different speed but hey at least it runs right. Well after only using it 3 time, it decided not to start at all! $140 something later it doesn't work! So I called the place and they tell me I need to bring my receipt when I drop off my lawn mower. Well I've missed placed it like most normal people. So I asked if they have a way to access it....NOPE. The lady tells me that only the book keeper has the receipts and for them to access them would be very difficult. This business does not make it easy for you to go back there when you have issues! It would have been great if they could have just fixed my lawnmower in the first place!!! I would rather cut my grass with hand scissors rather than return! read more

Highly recommended. I took my snow blower here when it stopped working in the middle of the polar vortex. It was repaired within 2 weeks. The prices are very reasonable. You have to figure that in the middle of winter it's going to take time to get a snow blower fixed. If my yard equipment needs servicing again, I will definitely be a repeat customer. read more

Went there for the first time to have our snow blower serviced. They called to say it was ready to pick up. When I arrived to get it they suddenly claimed they couldn't find it. They said they didn't know where it was and that owner was not there to help and that they could not reach him. I asked what I should do to find out where it was. Employee in charge said, "I don't know what to tell you. I just work here.". I asked them if I needed to go to the village to file a complaint. Employee told me to go ahead. I also told her that I was now late for taking my father to the hospital for cancer treatment. She chuckled. Apparently that is something funny to her. So I did go to the village to file a complaint. Village referred me to the police dept, who were very kind and helpful. Officer had to call the business twice before they finally acted. Despite my also leaving 2 additional messages for the owner to call me after that, he never did. Finally, they called back to say that they had accidentally given my snow blower to another customer. They told me that it was in fact the owner who made this blunder. To their credit they did finally get my item from the other incorrect customer and brought it to my house. However the owner then made excuses about their service and about how rude his employee was to me. The fact that they laughed at me, lost my snow blower, only acted to resolve this after my involving the village and the police dept and then still made excuses makes me warn everyone to avoid this business at all costs read more

WARNING!! Do NOT take your equipment here for repairs! I bought a brand new snow blower in Jan 2014 and used it twice. In Jan 2015, first good snow of the season - it wouldn't start so I brought it here for service. I was charged $100 to fix a basically brand new snow blower because I was told it wasn't covered by the warranty. Worked ok but after a while I noticed it was now leaking gas after allegedly being fixed (which it was not leaking prior to service) so I brought it back in Jan 2016 and was charged another $100+. Got home and noticed a little while later it was still leaking gas. Brought it back in AGAIN in Mar 2016 and was told a different repair man would check it at no additional charge. Since this was a mild winter there was no gas in it since the last "repair", and I did not use it again until March 2017 and guess what? STILL LEAKING GAS!! If I thought this place knew what they were doing I would bring it back in a fourth time, but frankly, I am done dealing with this place. I can practically buy another new snow blower for what they've charged me to "not" fix mine. read more

I have been going to Alsip Lawn Mower Repair for years and up until now have had common to good service. I recently contacted them about some broken parts on my snowblower. When they said the parts were back-ordered, they offered to sell me used parts, if they had them. Perfect solution for me. "We'll get back to you in about 30 min", turned in to 3 days. I called multiple times a day to check in and kept getting told they would get back to me soon, "this is our busy season." My last call (never a call from them) finally ended with them saying they did not have the used parts. That would have been fine, except during the entire experience, they talked to me like they were doing me a favor outside their normal business operations. I'm simply trying to patron their business based off a suggestion they gave me, not based on something special I asked them to do. The repeated statement about their busy season really offended me too. I understand they're busy, but 3 days not to get back to me is excessive. I'm trying to get parts for a snowblower and its winter for cripes sake! Its not like I was getting impatient on used parts for my weed-wacker, lawn mower or some other piece of equipment not "in season". The message was my smaller business needs didn't warrant some courteous customer service when they couldn't fulfill them. The unfortunate part is that I have bought much of my powered lawn equipment and accessories from them over the years. Weed wackers, chainsaws, snowblowers, etc. So while they treated my $20 loss of business without much regard, they've lost my business on bigger ticket items in the future. Perhaps this is a minor complaint with a major "beef", but customer service is important to me and Alsip Lawn Mower Repair fell pretty flat. read more
