Requested a full balayage and left with the bottom half of my hair breaking from over processing. Asked for honey blonde and a natural look, and had white blonde pieces. Truly so sad. Ryan has been doing my hair for about 6 months now and he's the best by far in my opinion . He listens to all my hair issues and find a much better solutions to hide my gray. He always makes me feel confident and beautiful after each session. He's very passionate about the work and really puts all his time and effort. I am actually surprised that there are customers who even gave more than 3 stars because this place is more expensive than professional to keep it short and simple. My hair was thinned out so much underneath and left with choppy unleveled layers. I had to wait a month in order to go to another hairstylist to get it fixed and paid $65 LESS than I did here and even she confirmed the layers were thicker on one side than the other. You would think you get what you pay for but I definitely didn't. read more

By far the worst and most expensive salon I've ever been to. They are very unorganized and seemed to mess up every appointment I booked. I gave clear instructions on style/color I wanted for my hair and provided reference photos. I showed up for nothing on my first appointment, the stylist said she wouldn't be able to do it so I had to book another appointment. Then when I show up for the rescheduled appointment, a different stylist said she also wouldn't be able to color my hair the way I want. So she just did a haircut that took 3 hours long! I had to book another appointment to get my hair bleached and dyed, this senior stylist assured me she knew what she was doing and could achieve the color I asked for. The results were horrendous, the color is very uneven, and looks like I did it at home. For the amount of money I paid, I expected way better results. I am extremely disappointed and will not be returning to this "salon". When I called the salon to speak with the manager, I spoke briefly about the situation then the phone line went dead. I called back and it went straight to voicemail. So I've been trying to contact the manager to ask for a refund but no response. read more

Attended Alta Moda hoping to be blessed with a new life changing hairstyle that would have me oozing self confidence especially after not coloring my hair after 5 years. Instead I left Alta Moda in tears, crying at my ruined hair. I wished for a Smokey Gray balayage and haircut and after sitting in the chair for 8 hours, received a patchy white/platinum blonde color with no haircut. It makes no sense why this happened, if i go back they'll continue with the color of white/silver. not the dark gray that i wanted. they just didn't listen to me and they didn't even cut it, i was charged extra just for coloring my long hair. the colorist said that my long hair was a problem like BRO IF THAT WAS THE CASE THEN CUT IT FIRST LIKE I ASKED. i basically sat in that chair for 8 hours just for my hair to get bleached. I really didn't want to have to write this review but after 3 days of the owner ignoring my calls it's left me with no other choice. I came in earlier this week and booked with a stylist. I'm a natural red head and I walked in and asked my stylist to add some deeper copper tones to my hair and that I wanted blonde highlights. My dresser looked puzzled and confused and told me that my hair was way to dark to add highlights. Which simply isn't true considering the fact I've had highlights in my hair many of times. She also told me the service that I booked "Full color and highlights" wasn't a real service because you can't color hair and do highlights at the same time. Which again isn't true because I've sat in a hair dressers chair and had it done many of times. She told me she'd color my hair and then I'd have to come back later to get highlights because she couldn't do them the same day, despite that being what I booked online. She just started applying colors to my head without looking at any swatches with me or asking any questions to ensure I got what I want. I was trying to explain what I want, she said no but I'll try something, walked away and then came back and stated painting my hair. When she went to wash out my color, she asked me if I wanted it blowed dry. As any Normal person of course I wanted my hair dry so I could see the final color and make sure I could advocate for anything that needed fixing. She then told me she'd have to charge me an extra 75 dollars to blow dry my hair and that dosent even included a style. Just a blow dry. At this point I was frustrated so I walked out with water stains on my shirt and dripping wet hair. When I got home and was able to look at my dryed hair it looked absolutely horrible. My roots were neon oarnge and the middle was a strange brown and then my ends were my natural color. It was horrendous. I had to go to the store that day and felt so embarrassed walking around in my own skin, I felt so ugly for the fact that I spent over $150 that day. I called the salon and asked to speak to someone for a refund so I could get it fixed, they said they'd call me back and never did. I went to another salon to a new stylist the following day and when I walked in my new stylist asked me if I had boxed dyed my hair because of how bad it was. She said she couldn't work with the color the previous stylist put on my head because it was blotchy, uneven and not well blended. She had to remove all the color inorder to even fix my hair. I called the salon again that day and was told he was too busy and would call me in the morning. I never received a call this morning. I want my money back because I've now had to spend over $300 to fix the mistakes this salon made. This is absolutely not okay, and if you read the other negative reviews on this place you'll see this is a common issue. I originally went for a haircut. Online, it said it would range from 35-70$ for just a shampoo and cut. That's what I wanted. I also asked for a consultation for possibly blending the colors from my ends towards the middle of my hair. I talked with my stylist, and she said small, light highlights might be perfect. I said OK just a few. Nothing touching my roots and I HATED chunky highlights so please do not make them chunky or look like streaks, just a soft blend, nothing major, not a huge dye job at all, small and simple. She not only didn't listen but she over processed my hair... I went in only wanting my hair to be healthier and not have dead ends. She cut off twice the length we discussed. She left HIDEOUS HUGE chunky and streaky highlights in my hair. I look like I have tiger stripes. They are PATCHY TOO!!! I did not want a blow dry... she did it anyway. It was also the worst cut ever... completely uneven, blunt, not layered... terrible. I cried after I got home... the highlights were grey... not blonde. My hair is a frizzy mess and feels like dry hay. She pulled my hair and brushed it so harshly I saw CHUNKS of my hair getting pulled out... you should have seen her hands... FILLED with chunks of my hair. When she went to rinse my hair, she just decided ON HER OWN to add a gloss treatment???? I never asked for that. I tried to ask her a question, but she ran off sho quick. i couldn't even get her attention. She came back and immediately put whatever the "gloss" was on my head. She yanked my head and hair so hard trying to slather it on. I asked her what it was... something to blent my roots? I asked her if it was included... no answer... she said she had already put it on my head... My head is sore, I have a horrid cut and dye job, and then on top of that, she had the audacity to charge me $300...SCAM! I still tipped $50. I don't even know why. I mean, my hair was short going in, I understand product cost money, so does time, but yall... this... this was an ugly expensive disaster. She rushed, was short, rough, overcharged, and had her own agenda with my hair... I look twice my age now. I haven't been to a salon in 4 years because I was scared to have my hair ruined... It all went down hill when GIGI decided that he was going to do whatever he pleased with my hair! Below is the aftermath of his terrible work...I paid $250 to leave that salon with an orange head of hair. Not to mention the hair cut! Not only did I find large chunks had been taken out of my hair, the cut is was flattering at all. I will never return or recommend anyone to this salon. Once you try Alta Moda Salon, you won't go anywhere else to get your hair cut or colored. My stylist, Abby Lee, is outstanding. She can do anything you ask to be done to your hair, but she will be honest with you to make sure the end result is exactly what you want. I had my haircut with Keilah. She did such a great job. I have fine hair, but a lot of it. I usually get layers to give some bounce, but Keilah recommend texturing instead and let just say my baby fine hair never looked so full! I'm extremely happy with the results. They are unsure how to do balayage. First they bleached and toned my hair, it turned out gray essentially (a little more "ashy" than they anticipated). I was unsatisfied and went back the next day to get it fixed (with high hopes). We had tried to retone my hair to see if the blonde/gold would take, and with no success. Because my "redo" took longer than necessary, I could tell Cindy (the owner and my hairdresser) was getting upset and did not want to rehighlight my hair and start from scratch. In turn, she neglected the balayage technique and you can see abrupt lines where the bleach was placed on my head. The gray was fixed, yes, but now it looks like I grew out 2 month old highlights, and got no balayage in return. In addition, Cindy didn't even acknowledge me once the touch up process was done. I didn't notice the lines in my hair until I got home for the second time (the lighting in there is terrible). Needless to say, I'm never going back and not recommending this place to anyone else. On 12/26/20 I had the worst work in this salon a person can ever have. Cindy is the worst hairstylist ever. I went to get a brown color with highlights cause I was blond. She did a base with balayage and destroyed my hair to a level that I can't even explain. Total destruction. My hair was coming in pieces in my hands their hands, on the washing bowel on the brush. TOTAL INSANITY. Cinthia(Cindy) is not a good professional , she is totally inexperience. Destroyed my hair and told me"that is what happens when you want to be blond" OMG. Had a shampoo and style done. Asked for curls for my senior pictures. The curls didn't even last 2 hours. I had a shampoo and style done 2 weeks prior at the Blo Dry Bar at the Dominion. This place is ok. We moved here from California where I went to an AWESOME Paul Mitchell focus salon, so I was looking for another one here. The salon itself is ok, kind of plain, and nothing spectacular. My first visit was with Julieann, and she made a complete mess of my hair. I was shocked to find out later that she had several years of experience and yet thinned out the length of my hair despite the fact that I have thin, fine hair to begin with. I now see Cindy regularly, and she is working to restore the length and fullness of my hair. I am a little disappointed in the fact that various "rising stars" do my color instead of Cindy as gray coverage at my roots has been poor on 2 occasions, and the color varies slightly each time even though I have specifically asked that the red tones be kept to a minimum. I have since gotten some extensions added to mask the thinned length of my hair, and I love the Great Lengths system, which is what keeps me going to this salon rather than looking for one that is a little more exciting. From my understanding, Cindy is the only one in the city that uses the cold fusion machine for the bonds. I may try the Quarry location to see if it is a little more exciting. read more

I liked my colorist however when she realized she wasn't the one set up to cut my hair because of another appointment she said she didn't think the person who was cutting my hair would be good for me. Initially I was like okay, she's looking out for me so it's fine. She apparently got me rebooked with the owner of the salon for a haircut, which I didn't find out until the end, doubled the cost of my trim from $45 to $90. Literally just had a trim and I can't believe I paid that, especially since they changed the person not on my request. I understand price quotes are "flexible" but it was a major shock to my system to get to the counter and see that I was paying nearly $100 for a trim. Also, the owner seemed so disinterested. I don't need special conversation or lots of talking at all (I prefer less talking) but she would ask me a question, I'd answer, and then minutes later she would ask basically the same thing that my answer covered as if she wasn't listening in the first place. As soon as I met him, I knew I had found my hair stylist. We instantly became friends. And when I left he had did absolute magic on my hair!!! He is amazing and I trust him completely! if i could give zero stars i would. getting an appointment was super easy then upon arrival the whole experience felt rushed. my cut turned out choppy, uneven and she added layers to my hair. it is embarrassing seeing how poorly she did, the cut is thick on the bottom and she was done in five minutes. don't recommend to anyone who likes their hair. i don't know how this place is still open. the right side of my hair was a whole inch shorter than the left and she didn't section my hair in any way, parted it in half in the back pulled both sections to the front and i'm guessing closed her eyes. read more

Although my hair cut is okay, it was a awkward from the beginning. She came to get me from the front (it was about 12:45-12:50) and didn't say much. Took me straight to wash my hair without giving me a robe or offering to set my purse anywhere. When we got back to the chair she just said "You want like 1/2 inch off or something?" I said yes but also some layers and not the bottom so straight. She just said alright and started. I grabbed my phone to look for the photo I wanted to show her but she immediately began drying my hair. Didn't brush it just combed her hand through my hand which was very tangled from the wash (plus I have long hair). As she was cutting my hair, she was not gentle at all when (finally) brushing my hair. I kept getting smacked in the eye with my wet hair and she never once apologized. She cut my hair so quickly and started blow drying. At one point I had to jerk my head away from her because it got so hot on my scalp. She asked "oh too hot?" And I said "yeah!" And she just said yeah. No apology, nothing. I walked out if there at 1:20. I've never walked out of a salon less than an hour. It seemed like she was in a rush. My wife was apprehensive about going more blonde and the stylist assured us that she could do what a few others said they could not do and get her hair blonde and not orange without frying her hair. $140.00 was what I was told and I said sure "you are worth it babe"! I go to pay and it was now $180!!! Well two weeks later and her hair is breaking off and is costing more money to try and save! Her hair is literally falling out and can't even brush it. I'm not one to usually write reviews, but considering how the situation was handled I feel obligated to inform future clients. I showed a picture of what I wanted as far as coloring, and the response I got from Isabel is that it was going to be an easy. So I figured instead of going to another place to get my hair colored I could just get everything done at alta moda. Well due to the weather being humid and on and off rain I decided to not get it styled at she finished cutting and coloring. As time went by I noticed my hair looking very light compared to what I expected and as soon as I got home I was shocked with my end result. I called the salon the next day and Matt offered to take care of the problem by offering to have me come in and redo my hair as many times as possible until it's done right. Well I declined and said I would be going somewhere else. So I asked if I could get a refund for the color only, because to be honest I like the cut but not the color. He then started to talk about the no refund policy they have, but I did correct him and said that there is no policy on the website at all. Which is true though, go online and you won't find anything about no refunds, and I took pictures to prove it just in case they decide to put it on last minute. Well he then started to question why I let Isabel convince me to color it if I had made plans to get it done at another place, and why didn't i get it blowdried before ( this is all in a sarcastic tone, and like i said earlier it was ugly outside so why spend extra money so it can frizz up?) And he even had the nerve to say that people who wrote the bad reviews on yelp were too scared to complain which is why they did it behind a computer. I did ask him two different times to not be aggressive or rude, but he continued to be sarcastic. Long story short, the problem isn't the stylist it's this guy Matt who apparently doesn't know anything about being courteous, professional, or understanding. The people who write these reviews are angry because he makes you feel like your needs are no concern of his. Which isn't true when you run a business. He was nice when he took the payment, but if you're unhappy with your service just expect his ugly side to appear. All I asked for was a refund so I can get my hair corrected at another place, because some people work hard for their money and I don't think it's selfish to want the best for yourself. I'm just shocked that an owner from my hometown would allow such a terrible person to handle her business, because we aren't like that at all back in Alice. And I'm going to call out the person that left a review 15 minutes after I called, because everything I complained about you're just complementing on. Nice try, alta moda. Just so y'all know, businesses like to put fantastic reviews to appeal to future customers.
