Ana did an amazing job at cutting my hair. Since it closed right as I walked out I was unable to go back in and let her know I did want it shorter. I contacted them first thing early in the morning and was told Id have to pay the full amount to even get it cut a little shorter. I'm very disappointed as I understand and don't mind paying again, but not the complete amount of 75$. As if it was more than 12 hours I would definitely have been more understanding. My stylist was nice and she did great on my hair trim. But she messed up my bangs. I was hoping to trust the process bc I trusted that she understood what I wanted but nope. My bangs itself are uneven. I look like a mushroom from the front. And the sides of the bangs do not look like the picture I showed . Also asked for chin length but it turned out super short??? I found my forever salon finally!! Easy to find and safe location. Love the salon atmosphere/decor (laid back &chic) Arranging my appointment was super easy, whoever takes care of the appointment texting was super sweet and understanding. Anyway, I've been trying to find a stylist in SA and struggled with high turnover at a particular salon near the Pearl. I've been following the salon for SO long on Insta, always wanted to go in for a haircut but felt bad bc I'm trying to not dye my hair for a few years, get it strong and healthy. I finally went in after following Ashlyn on Insta (I was pleased to see she had some hair cuts on her profile so I could tell she didn't mind just haircuts) When I came in for Ashlyn to cut my hair, I told her I wanted 4 inches off (she showed me on my hair what that would look like which I appreciate) face framing layers some long layers in the back for movement and bangs. She let me explain what I wanted and advised me as needed on what she could do. She gave me a heads up of the upkeep bangs require. Which she did not have to do but i appreciated it! She could've followed my request with not much input but I LOVED that she actually conversed with me on what I wanted vs what she could do vs the required upkeep vs what it would look like! Most stylist just say okay and snip snip but Ashlyn was so helpful and made sure I knew what I was getting and would like it! I loved the way my hair came out! The shampoo and condition was so relaxing and gentleAshlyn has a tender hand (my last stylist complained how tangled my hair was after a wash and bushed so hard Trying to untangle) and she let me know what she was going to do before the next step to make sure I was liking the process. My hair was SO shiny, looked sooooo healthy, and had movement; it's my favorite haircut! I asked about some products/tools she used and asked her for some bang stying tips and she advised. This 3* review is only for Charlotte at The Colour Room and truly I'm being very generous! If only based on my last appointment it would be a one star. First...to make an appointment with any stylist everything is handled through texting to a main number, NOT the stylist. My first appointment there was a lot of back and forth texting, the individual I was texting with failed to pencil in my appointment time with whom I was given a recommendation for, Ashlyn. Next...as I was leaving to make my 40 minute trip, I decided to text and confirm my appointment since I had not heard from anyone. They did not have me down and I suppose through the text messages they could see I had confirmed the appointment day and time, so they fit me in with a different stylist, Charlotte. Finally...at the second appointment I did not receive the service or results I was looking for. I scheduled a follow-up appointment with Charlotte. Upon my arrival she greeted me and took me to her chair, never talked to me about my hair or asked any questions as to products I'd been using or what I liked or disliked since my last appointment. I tried to remind her of my goal, that I was trying to grow my grays out and to get back to my virgin hair. Her response was basically blowing me off and responding with yes I know. She was on her phone constantly texting the entire three hours I was there, which should have been an hour to 1.5 hour appointment. The process done to my hair was not done properly. She apparently had left the toner she used in too long on my hair, based on what the owner told her when she ask her to come and see what she need to do. While she was drying my hair, I was trying to carry a conversation with her and had mentioned I had been shampooing with a purple shampoo she had suggested I use after my first appointment, I told her I was using it about twice a week. After redoing the complete process again, it still wasn't correct and she proceeded to tell me she was glad it was my fault since I she felt I had been using too much purple shampoo, My thoughts are: She is the professional hair colorist and should know what information she needs BEFORE starting on a clients hair. She should have asked questions prior and confirm what her clients goals are. Because Clients are paying her for this service she should not be on her phone texting the entire time and if there was something urgent she needed to take care of, then she should rescheduled her appointment. She needs to be focus on her clients and then mistakes would not happen. read more

The salon is impeccable, supertastefully decorated, and smells divine like a spa more than a chemically hair joint. (And my hair, even after a couple washings, always feels silky and *treated* too, not chemically *tortured* - it's fantastic!) Jessica and Polly are a couple of awesome, fun ladies to spend a couple hours around, as are the the women in the associated beauty businesses that share space in the building. I don't even know where to begin about this amazing Salon! I came across Jessica's Instagram page a while back and was immediately blown away by her work! I'm not even joking, every picture looks like it's out of a magazine lol. Upon meeting with Jessica to set up an appointment for balayage, we made a plan. She saw my ideas, heard me out and listened to my concerns. She explained we'd need a few sessions but was confident that we'd reach my goal. She is VERY knowledgeable about hair and color. I was ecstatic and couldn't wait for my appointment. The first session, we did color correcting and color melting (I had brassy highlights all over) Her assistant, Polly, helped execute our plan and my goodness. She did an incredible job! Polly is also a Master Stylist. By the third session, we reached my goals. And holy sh*t. I. AM. IN. LOVE. I have wanted balayage for like, ever. No one has been able to help me achieve that until I came to The Colour Room. Also, my hair feels healthy! Super silky, soft. You just feel comfortable when you're here. All worries can be left at the door and you can just relax and have girl talk. Jessica is so patient and nice. She is quick to help Polly out if she needs it and vice versa. Polly is very easy going and sweet. They truly do make an amazing team. The salon itself is SO beautiful! Jessica has it decorated so pretty and stylish and it ALWAYS looks very clean. Another thing I love is that it smells amazing. No bleachy-burned hair smell here lol. I truly believe this is because Jessica refuses to use anything but the best products on clients. I also love that I don't feel like just another head of hair at this Salon. They take their time and are always making sure you're comfy. I have lots of hair and I know it takes forever to dry and style. Even so, I don't feel like I'm being rushed out. And, they even do a mini photoshoot of your hair after it's finished! I went to this salon on recommendation. I was scheduled with Ashlyn. Although this place seems proficient in coloring fashion colors, she didn't take my natural hair into account at all. I told her I had curly hair and wanted the highlights I had in my dark brown hair blended to the roots so they could grow out seamlessly . I have had my hair colored once a year with minimal issue. She made me practically platinum on top with a root smudge. Looks lovely when blown out straight. One shower later, my hair looks flat bleach blonde with a brown halo because as I explained to her, I have naturally curly hair. The other problem is now my curls look like limp dreads which has never happened after coloring. So 400$ for fucking awful hair. I am mad every time I walk past the mirror. I begged an old friend hair dresser to help me fix it and am praying she can before my wedding in 2 months. BTW I did sign a waiver saying I understand breakage occurs, but figured they did that because they do fashion colors and you have to get bleach blonde for that. I've been to many places before and left with dry crunchy hair from bleaching but Maria did a beautiful job creating the color I wanted and left my hair feeling so soft like never before!
