Flan Iced Latte & Tropical Lemonade Refresher
    Francine G.

Drove an hour to have a mini adventure on a Sunday, love love love local coffee shops but this wasn't good. Coffee was super weak, not sure how many shots of espresso were in a 16oz but you couldn't taste any coffee. The tropical refresher was literally 2 pumps of flavor, 90% filtered water and 10% of "lemonade" - I literally saw them making the drink so not an exaggeration lol, not fresh at all. The coffee shop itself is so beautiful and very aesthetic though with a sweet little mural on the outside, IG worthy but there's much better spots for coffee in the area.

Shows the depth and the cleanliness of this place! That room is a family room... which is also very clean!

The drink menu is huge, and it's clearly geared more toward flavored latte lovers than coffee purists. If you like creative, dessert-style drinks, you'll have plenty to choose from. Drinks: I ordered a cortado, but it came out more like a breve. Not a big deal, but not quite what I was expecting. I also tried The Alchemist -- an iced latte with white chocolate, English toffee, and raspberry. It was enjoyable, but definitely flavor-forward, with the syrups taking center stage more than the espresso. Food: This is where the place really shines. I ordered the chicken biscuit with Sriracha hot honey, and it was excellent. Crispy chicken, a great biscuit, and the sweet heat from the sauce tied everything together perfectly. Overall: If you're looking for a great breakfast or brunch spot with lots of fun drink options, No Filter is a solid choice. If you're hunting for a specialty coffee experience focused on the coffee itself, this probably isn't the destination -- but the food alone makes it worth the stop.

The only thing they don't have on the buffet is beef brisket, which is what we love, but all the food that we got the shredded pork, ribs, barbecue chicken, vegetables, bread...everything was really good. But it was worth those few extra minutes for front row seats of the action on the tarmac below. We arrived during their lunchtime buffet hours, although you can also order from their regular menu. I'm not usually a buffet person, but since I wanted to try a little bit of everything it was definitely the way to go. For $18 I got some ribs, pulled pork, and BBQ chicken. Not to mention, a side of their delish cornbread, and a scoop of two of my Southern faves: mac & cheese and collard greens. Sadly, I was too full of the deliciousness to make a second trip, but if I had it would have been for a heaping pile of mashed potatoes and a generous scoop of their homemade peach cobbler. If you like airplanes and BBQ, add this to your list for your next visit to the area. They also have a full bar, though on this hot day we were happy with bottomless refills of their refreshing sweet tea.

The toasted sourdough was a nice touch for sopping up bites. The fried okra was a standout--lightly battered, bright green inside, and not soggy (a minor miracle) The chicken tenders had a peppery cornmeal breading that stayed crunchy and paired well with the dipping sauce. But the most nostalgic part was the warm biscuit split open with peach jelly--sweet, sunny, and the perfect finish! As a foodie from the Bay Area who's been spending more time in the Southeast for work, I've been on…read morea bit of a personal mission to understand and appreciate Southern cuisine. It's been an interesting journey--because while I absolutely respect the tradition, my palate has definitely evolved over the years toward lighter, more elevated, visually beautiful food. That said, sometimes you just have to lean in and experience the classics. Tupelo Honey had been on my list for a while, so during a recent work trip to Raleigh-Durham, I decided to check it off. The location is in a very nice, upscale area--one of those shopping districts where, if you see a Whole Foods nearby, you know the neighborhood is going to be polished, safe, and easy to navigate. Parking was simple in a lot across the street, and since I had a reservation, I was seated quickly on the patio, which was lovely and comfortable. For starters, I ordered the "biscuits for a cause," which is a nice touch knowing the proceeds support employee relief and development funds. They were warm and classic Southern biscuits--exactly what you'd expect. For my entrée, I went with the honey-dusted fried chicken (dark meat), a true Southern staple. It was well prepared, flavorful, and satisfying, especially if you're in the mood for something hearty and traditional. I also tried a cocktail called "The Debutante," which was pleasant and refreshing, and finished the meal with the butter pecan cheesecake for dessert. Overall, the meal was good--solid, reliable Southern comfort food--but if I'm being completely honest, it wasn't particularly memorable for me. I was traveling for work and dining on a per diem, so it checked the box for a dependable dinner in a convenient location. As a larger regional chain, it feels a bit like a rite of passage when you're spending time in the Southeast--something you try once to understand the landscape. Bottom line: Tupelo Honey delivers classic Southern comfort food in a polished, accessible setting. Service was smooth, the patio was pleasant, and everything was executed well. For me personally, it was a good experience--but not one I'd necessarily go out of my way to repeat. Still, as I continue eating my way through the Carolinas and beyond, I'm glad I gave it a try.
