Cornerstone Cafe & Coffee is located in Downtown Benson. It is across the street from the Benson Museum which was closed because of a broken AC. But I still decided to stay in Benson for lunch and found Cornerstone Cafe. You wait to be seated then you get to sit where you'd like. I found a table at the window and watched the traffic on the busy street and several trains go through during my lunch. The cafe is inviting with the brick walls and decor. The staff was very eager to take my order, too eager as I didn't even have a chance to look at the menu. Both breakfast and lunch were available to order. Breakfast was very tempting but I decided to go with the lunch menu and the summer chicken salad on a croissant. I also ordered a side of the mac n cheese. Both were delicious although I couldn't finish. But that was my fault for ordering too much. I'd eat here again when I return to visit the museum and try the Elvis waffle. We're trying to support local. Casual dining, with "healthier" options than fast food and the local home cooking, biscuit establishments is what you'll find here. We're the only customers in here at 4 pm on a Tuesday, and the wait is still nuts. Drink order served, another 20 min for food. Tried the Avocado Chicken Pita special. Chicken has grill marks but is barely warm. Large leaf of romaine on top of everything. I basically dissected the sandwich, cut up some items, and put it back together in order to consume. The pita was soft, kinda warm. My date ordered the 3D sandwich on the hoagie roll. It was okay. It's not as good as it has been in the past. Sandwiches do not come with anything but a pickle, if offered. Sides are extra here. The brownies were old, dry, and crumbly. The server was nice enough. Went today with my boyfriend for the first time because we seen the Fainting Goat's advertisement. We waited about 3 minutes to be seated. Made the drive to try Cornerstone and while it wasn't an exhilarating experience, not disappointed. Started off with an iced Carmel Slam, which is a white chocolate and caramel iced latte. Not bad at all. I liked it. Breakfast was the strawberry cheesecake waffle and a side of bacon. Bacon was cooked just how I like it, crispy but a little chew to it. Waffle, wasn't bad, just needed a little more cook time. It was a little soft and still had a hint of batter taste. Strawberries were a little under ripe, too. Went in while kids were in driving school. Started out well enough. A young boy took our order and we got the half sandwich and half salad. I ordered a Greek salad and a roast beef sandwich. When the food came it was full. The waitress said they knew this and the server didn't know you could not order a Greek salad with the half meal and we could just box half the sandwich. We ate and went to pay. They charged full price. 8.00 for a sandwich and 8.00 for the salad, with a coffee it was $22.00. We asked and they said we ate the full umm...yeah because your server messed up the order. We were never told before we ate we would be charged full prices. We ate here on a whim passing through Benson this week and it was great! I started off with a toffee latte which was phenomenal (one of the best I've had) & then we ordered lunch. My husband had the Mediterranean pita with chips and I had the buffalo chicken wrap. Both were delicious and mine was piping hot (even burned the roof of my mouth! But, no complaints bc I like my food hot!) my only negative was I wished the buffalo chicken wrap had a little more prominent buffalo flavor and more spice as it was minimal and could've easily passed for a chicken and cheese panini but it was still so delicious overall. On top of the food and coffee being hot and great, the price is absolutely unbeatable. I don't know of any place that you can order a sandwich with chips and a coffee for less than $7. We will definitely return and next time I'll try the waffles as I've read they are delicious! read more

Loved the Devore. It has exposed brick, original ceilings. Fits the old town feel. I enjoyed the atmosphere. Other reviews commented on service being lacking. We had very good service. We were greeted at door our drinks and meals arrived in timely manner. The wait staff friendly. There were only 3 working so when it gets busy I imagine could be a problem if you are in a hurry. I had waffle with pecans it was very good light a good portion. My husband had waffle with eggs and bacon on the side. He enjoyed his meal with no complaints!! I will return. The people were nice and the food was decent but we paid over $16 for two grilled cheese sandwiches just because they were on glutton free bread.
