I frequent this cafe often to get a latte to go. Their unique and creative coffee drinks are ever changing and always delicious. Their unique staff are super friendly even when they're busy. My current favorite drink is the French toast latte. Their pumpkin butter latte is also a standout. I sometimes fall back on the moon pie latte as well. I haven't tried the food here yet but plan to one day soon. read more

How this place is hidden in a small town like coats, I'll never understand, but I'm so glad we checked it out today. The ambiance is cute, clean and country, extremely homey. My kids both raved about the bathrooms though, I never saw for myself, I'm certain they are just as cute as the rest of the place. The waitstaff was friendly, fast and gave outstanding service. The food came out fresh and quickly, despite the filling dining room. We tried the fresh fruit smoothies, strawberry banana and mango, so yummy. Had the pimento cheese dip and pita for our appetizer, (so so delicious), my kids split the Italian sub and buffalo chicken wrap and shared the Mac and cheese and street corn, I had the side salad. Everything was fresh and great portions, prices were reasonable also. Street corn was spicier then I had anticipated but still delicious. We had a wonderful experience from start to finish. What a nice unexpected find in downtown Coats. I stopped in at the time just between breakfast and lunch and opted for breakfast, not realizing until much later that the waffles are available all day. Waffles aren't just for breakfast anymore here. And that's good. The chocolate waffle -- a splurge for a late breakfast -- was equal parts sweet and chocolatey. Sugar rush accomplished. I was expecting a chocolate waffle, for some reason, but was not disappointed with my ordinary waffle with lots of melted chocolate chips. There were enough chips for every indentation. Even though "Cafe" shows up first in the name, I actually stopped in for the Coffee. There are the standard coffee shop items, and they're available even if you aren't staying to eat. My latte was nicely made. Caffeine rush accomplished. Decorated with old pictures of local places and people, mostly law enforcement or fire responders from what I noticed, and a section of a wall honoring local military through the years, Cornerstone doesn't overwhelm your senses with too much. The shop is long and sort of narrow, but with the high ceilings and smaller tables it doesn't feel crowded at all. You can see outside from any spot and that keeps it from feeling claustrophobic. Local shops have a distinct advantage over the chain places, and Cornerstone is a good example of a local winner. read more

What a gem. Have been through this Town several times but not when we needed to eat. This is just a couple buildings off hwy 55 in Angier NC in a refurbished historic building. My wife ordered chicken salad sandwich with grapes and walnut which she enjoyed. I had a warm pimento and tomato on croissant roll sandwich with a cup of potato/cheese soup. The soup was so thick I could stand a metal spoon up. We ordered a peach smoothie to go which was delicious. They also have coffee products for purchase. We will be back. read more

Took my sister, nephew, and parents for lunch today...(my sister recently moved to the area) we had such an excellent experience! Jenna served us and she was friendly, efficient, and kind...we really loved the menu choices, and we were all very happy with our meals. My sister ordered the Buffalo chicken wrap which is pressed on the panini press and it was fantastic! She switched out ranch for blue cheese, and noted how fresh the ingredients were. The perfect amount of spice for the sauce and very tender chicken made this a great choice. Mom had the chunky monkey waffle and she really enjoyed it...very decadent and chocolatey, but nicely balanced and a tasty waffle. Dad ordered the Philly cheesesteak and he said it was very delicious. My nephew had the kids grilled cheese with sliced strawberries and chips...a large half which is perfect for any youngster. And I ordered the roast beef that was so tender, juicy, and delicious on freshly baked bread...loved the melted provolone and horseradish sauce and the side of au jus made it all the more tasty...my dad is new to grits, so for an appetizer we ordered the shrimp n grits special (this is a lunch or dinner plate, but being we all shared it to try we had that come out first!) the shrimp were deveined and detailed and were perfectly cooked and had nice flavor...the grits were creamy and topped with bacon, gravy, and fresh Tomatoes that made this dish over the top! We all had specialty drinks too...a frozen hot chocolate that was so creamy and chocolatey, 2 moon pie lattes (iced), a mango smoothie that was refreshing, and a nice raspberry iced tea. Lastly, the decor and ambience of this little gem is wonderful...very inviting, very comfortable, and very charming. Everything was very pleasant with our lunch and the service we received. My salad was more of a side salad for the price of a full salad but tasted fresh. I also had a specialty hot latte so I can't comment on the house coffee. I can say it was very sweet and no boost in caffeine. The servers were friendly and customer service oriented that was noticeable. This location was very clean and fresh looking from the decor to the restrooms. Amazing food for an insanely affordable price. Cozy atmosphere and relaxing low fi music playing. Me and my fiancé came here because it's conveniently in walking distance from our apartment. I had food from the waffle menu which was delicious. I could've ate 3. My fiancé got the Philly cheesesteak and a bowl of their cheddar broccoli soup. When I went in to order the person at the counter was very friendly and sociable. They make some of the best waffles I've had in a while.

Locally owned coffee shop with a wide variety of specialty drinks as well as a decent lunch and dinner menu. The staff are all very helpful and friendly and you can get unlimited refills on coffee which makes it the perfect place to study. Food: I have tried their summer chicken salad (tasty, but a little to heavy on for me) the mac and cheese (awesome) the edamame (a surprisingly healthy and addictive snack on the menu) and almost all of their waffles, none of which have disappointed me. My recommendation is to bring a book, order a waffle (the one with seasonal fruit on top is my favorite) and some coffee and sit and enjoy your afternoon. Also, when they say free unlimited refills, they mean it! Service: I have never had bad service at Cornerstone. The servers are always friendly, polite and helpful. There is one server in particular with dark hair and usually wears cool lipstick (I'm sorry I don't remember her name) who is exceptionally good at her job. Price: So reasonable. The coffee is $1.35 for unlimited refills and the waffles are around $5 depending on which one that you order. So I usually never spend more than $8 for any meal there. Atmosphere: Very cute! They have Coats memorabilia, the space is very large and good for events, the bathrooms are clean and there are couches to sit on if you just want to enjoy a drink instead of a meal. read more

I wish I lived in Coats, North Carolina because I would be here all the time. While my husband visited Campbell University, I dropped into the Cornerstone cafe to get some studying done. I was worried it would be frowned upon to spend all day taking up a 4 person table to study. I couldn't have been more wrong. First off, the staff were super friendly and efficient. When I told them I would be there most of the morning and afternoon they didn't even bash an eyelash. They were happy to let me study and refill my water glass and take intermittent orders from me. I started our with the fruity waffle. Simple Belgian waffle with strawberries, bananas and whipped Creme. The syrups on the side, which I like because I only like a little. I studied for a little before ordering a vanilla cappuccino. It was more like a vanilla latte but it was good, and half the time Starbucks does that too. I finished up my stay with a BLT on a croissant. It was amazing. One of the best I've ever had, and that is saying something since that's generally my go-to order for sandwiches at restaurants. Horrible coffee period. Do not go here for coffee. If you are looking to have a nice cappuccino or latte, this is not the place for it. My $30 drip coffee maker, makes better coffee than their espresso machine. Also, which cafe puts 4 seat dinner tables in a coffee shop? This place looks more like a family diner. I asked to get a breve, and the barista asked me "what is that?", and the picture/description of what goes in a Breve was right behind her. That is just not OK. The sad part is, this is the only cafe in Coats. I would give a 0 star if I could. This is a warning to real coffee drinkers, the quality of their coffee is equivalent to what you would get from a coffee making vending machine. read more

Always looking for local eateries, found this one in Coats! Seats about 40, quaint atmosphere, with couches for those just enjoying coffee and conversation. Service could be improved. Appeared to have one cook and one waitress that took food orders and made all the coffees like it was Starbucks. I had the shrimp roll, mac n cheese and bread crumb tomatoes, a first. Although they were delish, there could have been more 'char' to the tomatoes and "grill" to the shrimp.
