This was a bit confusing since the menu a bit further to the left did have an americano listed on it which had a dairy free marking. The menu was more help and was kindly marked the dairy free alternative options. Just a bit confusing if you are sensitive to dairy and think you can just fall back on black coffee or espresso if they don't have any options. I had an oat milk matcha latte hot. Didn't come out that hot honestly. It was ready to drink, but not that hot. Probably should have tried iced honestly. Finally found a place that has good egg coffee! I just wished that they were a little closer to home. I've been to Altea a few times to try a number of different drinks. The one shown in the picture was from my latest visit and is the salted coffee - traditional Vietnamese coffee with a salted cream top. I generally prefer my coffee strong and opted for the strongest option. It is perfect for days where I need that extra jolt to stay awake. I've also tried the hojicha latte and their Ube matcha latte, both of which are also very good. I would recommend if either of those two flavors are up your alley. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. This is a spacious and modern cafe serving Vietnamese coffee and other drinks. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful with explaining the drinks and how they are made. Since I'm lactose-intolerant, I can't drink milk, so I was glad to find out the Vietnamese egg coffee is made with whole milk (and can't be substituted). Instead I ordered the Panda Latte (which has in-house Pandan milk which is made with half n half) and I was able to substitute oat milk. It was gorgeous (that unreal glowing green and black) and the coffee was rich and deeply flavored. This was delicious and refreshing (although a little sweet). I purchased an ube pudding to go. Not to mention, the atmosphere is great if you want to buckle down and get some work done. So, we came back for a second time. This time we got another egg coffee and I got an ube latte. The egg coffee was fantastic just as last time and I loved the taste of the ube latte. However, my stomach started hurting badly after the ube latte. The person I came with finished my ube latte after finishing their egg coffee, and their stomach was also hurting after drinking the ube latte. We're not sure what was off, probably the ube, but it definitely did not sit right with either of us. We were looking to get our Sunday morning coffee routine and I wanted to try Altea. When we walked in we were greeted immediately by the friendly staff. My wife knew what she wanted and ordered the an Iced Ube Matcha Latte. I tried an Egg Coffee and a Mango Croffle. The place was well lit and had plenty of seats. Our order came out pretty quick. The Mango Croffle was a a little on the smaller side but flavorful. The cream was not too sweet and had the right amount of mango flavor. The croffle was crisp but not hard. The mango topping was fresh and yummy. When I ordered the Egg Coffee, I got it "Light" and it was made exactly how I ordered it. It probably is the best tasting coffee that I ever had. I popped into this cool spot and tried a couple of their unique drinks. First up was their Tiramisu Coffee. It's built on a classic strong Vietnamese coffee base, which I absolutely loved it definitely woke me right up. It comes with a special house made tiramisu cream on top. While the coffee itself was fantastic, I have to admit the cream wasn't entirely my cup of tea it had a distinct eggy flavor that was a bit surprising. Maybe it's an acquired taste but then, I tried the Iced Pandan Latte, and that was a total game changer. Seriously, it quickly became my new favorite. Imagine a rich Phin drip black coffee, perfectly blended with creamy coconut, creating this incredibly delicious and refreshing drink. The coolest part It has this super vibrant, bright green layer at the bottom it's almost too nice to drink. They also have some really thoughtful touches there. You can grab free water from a dispenser in the corner, which is always a plus but what really made me chuckle was their little vending machine. Tucked inside those plastic balls you usually see for toys, they actually have lactose pills for just a dollar. How clever and hilariously practical is that. Stop by here on Black Friday after watching a movie right next-door. They have an absolutely great location in Randhurst mall next to the movie theater and across from a breakfast restaurant. I also ordered the Ube latte and surprisingly enough. The barista behind the counter brought out to us directly and here where I was waiting to have to walk back up to the counter to go pick it up.
