I loved that they have all year specialty drinks as well as seasonal options. They serve breakfast, lunch, and early dinner with options like coffee, tea, cocktails, smoothies, sandwiches, pastries, salads, bowls and more! This visit, I tried The Michelle Obama Latte as it felt springy to me. The rosemary and orange blossom flavors were subtle but definitely there. It wasn't overwhelming which made me love it! Another popular item is their Maple Brown Sugar Latte. I definitely prefer this location over Chicago's but I'm happy they have the same offerings at both. read more

$48 for two 16 oz iced coffees and 2 breakfast sandwiches is just not a good deal. My girlfriend's sandwich was so small too, I felt bad that she ordered it. I had the AP Breakfast Sandwich which was bigger but nothing spectacular. As we were standing in line we considered leaving to go to a breakfast place but we wanted to support local and try something new. I wish we left that line. The menu also labeled all sandwiches come with chips or salad, we didn't get that with our order. The coffee was good, if I ever came back it would only be to get that but not worth parking and going inside to wait for it. The only good thing I can say was the staff was very friendly. We ordered The Maple Brown Sugar Latte (prepared with maple brown sugar syrup, sea salt, and cinnamon), the Michelle Obama Latte (prepared with orange blossom and rosemary syrup and black pepper), the AOC Latte (prepared with cajeta, cayenne, and cinnamon), and lattes with almond milk. The lattes were just okay - while they came out with a nice latte art and were aesthetically pleasing, the drinks were served lukewarm (when requested extra hot), and it was just not strong. Staff could be a bit more welcoming, friendlier, and dressed with a smile. I really liked their little gift shop/corner, where you can find cute cards and other giftable items. Note that this place does get super loud, as it is very kid-friendly - they have a corner with various games and toys. Khepri has another location in Albany Park, which I personally prefer. Recently, I stopped in with a friend to get some work done. I tried a hot apple cider and an almond croissant. I love that they heated up the croissant and the filling was just the right amount and delicious. This was definitely the cozy fall treat I needed. And it was ready right away and brought to my table! This is the perfect coffee shop to work in with plenty of seating and it has a cute little boutique attached to it. What a great place!! Khepri is a coffee shop, restaurant and boutique all under one roof. You order at the counter, and then the staff brings your food to your table. The staff was super friendly and the food was delicious. I had a chicken avocado sandwich that came with a side salad, and also ordered a mocha latte. As my friend and I waited for our food to be prepared, we browsed the nearby merchandise selves, which were full of candles, flower pots, jewelry, puzzles and all sorts of other fun finds. The interior is larger than it looks from the outside, with plenty of tables in a couple of different rooms. We sat at the counter, and had a nice couple of hours enjoying our food and conversation. A lovely coffee shop/restaurant in downtown Mount Prospect. They are celebrating their year anniversary at this location and it is a great addition. They have a large selection of coffee and teas, smoothies and cocktails. The food options are plentiful . They have bowls, a variety of toasts, salads and small bites. On a Sunday morning, it was very busy. There is a variety of seating options, indoor and outdoor, and areas of cozy couches. They also sell a variety of items, baby clothes and items, jewelry , cards, and ceramics. They host a variety of events , mostly in the evening. I had the London Fog Latte- the Earl Grey tea was piping hot and the vanilla added just the right amount of sweetness. My husband had a pumpkin spice latte. This has quickly become one of our favorite little coffee shops. We discovered this place two weeks ago and have already gone twice. It will become a frequent stop in our coffee shop rotation :) They've got tons of seating, a wonderful staff and so many good food and drink options to meet many dietary restrictions. It's a fast casual vibe, but with delicious food that's way more upscale than expected. And a bonus for me, not only do they carry great coffee and tea options, they also have alcohol and thc beverages to enjoy as well. I also love how kid friendly they are. They've got a little kids table with games/toys/books and I guess they even have family events which I need to check out! Oh and they have such a cute little gift shop in the front - clothing, cards, houseware, etc. Parking is limited out front, but there's a parking lot behind the building which you can utilize and there's an entrance on that side too. read more

We stopped in for the grand opening on Saturday and it was such a great vibe. The community really showed up, so it was quite busy, but service was nevertheless friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is sort of New Age-yuppie, with a clean aesthetic. 90s music played. Seems they may really be targeting my age group (late 30s-early 40s). The interior was larger than I expected, with both bar and table seating. One corner of the cafe is actually a shop, with an eclectic variety of items for sale, including art, greeting cards, kids toys, jewelry, and books. The food and drink menu at this location seems to be different than what is posted on their website for their Chicago location. That said, my husband got the toast with arugula and prosciutto, and he could not stop raving about it. He was still dreaming about it the next day. For myself, I got the kale and shredded brussels sprout salad, which was also good, but I'd probably try something different next time (was not as heavy on the citrus as I prefer my kale salads). For drinks, we tried the AOC Latte and the Michelle Obama. We prefer our coffee more sweet, so liked the AOC better of these two. We've been back again, and tried more drinks, so now I can also recommend the Brown Sugar Latte. We're both really excited to go back and try even more things on the menu. What a charming, cozy, and delicious, restaurant this is!! I just discovered this place while searching for someplace new for lunch and my friend and I were NOT disappointed. I ordered the London Fog which is an Earl Gray tea latte, it tasted so smooth, flavorful and LOTS of creamy foam on the top. Very decadent for a hot tea beverage. We both ordered the shashuka toast and it was very flavorful. My only complaint is that it was served on too small of a plate. I was afraid I was going to send my toast flying across the table. And even though I loved the sourdough, perhaps it's a bit too 'sturdy', maybe brioche would be a nice bread for the toast, because the sauce is more substantial than the usual shashuka preparation. Then I got an affogato (ice cream covered with espresso) to go, but the espresso melted the ice cream by the time I got home... so it looks like I HAVE to come back again. I know my vegetarian daughter will LOVE this place! Oh, and the gift shop is awesome... when I come back I'll need to ensure to have more discretionary cash on me. read more

The hot chocolate was delicious, the golden latte was spicier than I was used to (but I do not hold that against the shop!), and I was told the flavors of the brown sugar latte was flavorful yet balanced. The lady taking our order was patient as we read through the menu. The space is interesting, it houses a lot of small business items such as glitter simple syrup, handmade earrings from New Orleans, and greeting cards. Excellent little spot for coffee and food. Good vegan options. Just discovered this place. It's great, given that it's in a geographic location that's a bit short on restaurants with vegan options. Both the coffee and food were good. Only nit would be that both my and my guests' food was too big to eat by hand (unless you request them to cut your sandwich in half when you order it -- pro tip!). But the little plastic plate they give you is pretty dang hard to actually cut your food on unless someone holds the plate steady for you. read more

What a cute place! Went here because I specifically was curious about the cardamom bun. But, I was more impressed with the prosciutto, fig & goat cheese toast that I got. Very delicious! Service was also very good and the people were very friendly. We even got to meet the owner, Isaac, who also was welcoming, hospitable, and accommodating! This place is also very kid friendly as they have a kids' menu, a sweet little corner with a kids table filled with toys (I spotted magna tiles) and books. There's also a cute little store inside with all sorts of nicknacks, including clothes as well as baby clothes. Service was fantastic, food delicious. Coffee and drinks are amazing. Only complaint is the strong smoky oil smell coming from the kitchen. Kitchen needs much better ventilation. Oil smell is a deterrent when picking places to meet with friends who are sensitive to odors. First, the potato roll IS NOT A HAMBURGER BUN. If somebody ever bites into that pure goodness and says, "It's a burger", that person probably burnt all of their taste buds with the seventeen cups of coffee they drink every day. Righteous indignation aside, Khepri is my #1 go-to coffee shop. The food is great and it's only a couple blocks away from, like, everybody in Mount Prospect. The library that is almost RIGHT NEXT DOOR also hosts something called the Teen Book Cafe. It's like a book club, and I go there. The service is amazing, they literally have never gotten my order wrong, and the entire atmosphere is just a feel-good, cozy cafe. Also, I don't have accent marks, so "cafe" just isn't happening. It was a little dry, I was expecting it to be more liquidy or stewy like normal Shakshuka. Regardless, service was quick and the barista was very nice. Would definitely try again. read more

Fresh. Elegant. Tasty. My college age son picked this gem when I offered to take him out for dinner on his visit and we both liked it a lot. I can't remember what we ordered because it was all a first for me. One was a filled bread and the other a homemade pasta. The ingredients were straight-forward, the tastes subtle with unfamiliar yet pleasing spices, and everything tasted extremely fresh. The prices were reasonable for the labor and quality. The restaurant looks like a converted Burger King or other fast food restaurant, all tastefully remodeled. I was charmed to see small bistro tables on what used to be the drive through. I wish all chains could be transformed to something that's worth coming back to regularly. read more

Finally, an independent coffee shop in downtown Mount Prospect -- where they was Starbucks only for a loooong while. A family business that not only has good coffee and food, but also a nice gift shop and some other wonderful products, including bottles of wine and pints of the locally produced, outstanding Capanari's ice cream. There are comfortable areas to sit ... it is clear that the owners have made a great effort to make this a community gathering place and not just a place for people to make online orders and grab them and go.
