Great turnaround, excellent work, and professional and kind staff. They were able to hem (remove at least 4+") from a high/low gown for a formal event. Plus we decided to add straps utilizing some of the cut material and they were fully transparent on the price for it if decided we did not want to based on price. I had bought a dress that was one size too large, and on a Saturday, I visited this tailor shop to ask them to take in the dress. An employee immediately and kindly greeted me. She told me to enter a dressing room and to put on the dress. After several minutes, she entered the dressing room, and she inserted pins where the dress should be taken in. Next, at the cash register, another employee rang up the cost of the tailoring. This employee seemed to be new, and the other employee politely helped her. I had the option of either paying for the tailoring then or later at pickup. I chose to pay for my dress right then, and the cost of tapering my dress from the underarm to the bottom was $32.75. The employees told me that my dress would be ready for pickup after 5 PM on Friday. On Friday, the store sent me a text message to remind me that my tailored dress was ready for pickup. I picked up my dress on a Saturday morning. An employee greeted me, and then she looked for my dress in the back and brought it out to me. I felt surprised that she did not ask me to try on the dress in the store, but I tried on the dress at home, and the dress fit me well. read more

My jeans were not done correctly I wouldn't of had an issue having someone refit me but Cassandras has the worst customer service skills. I would never go back to this place because of her. I brought in a comforter that had a coffee stain on it and explicitly told the cashier that it had a stain and I had tried everything to get it out. When I picked it up a week later, the stain was still there looking exactly the same. I called THREE times to speak to a manager and left a message for no one to call me back. Eventually I got a hold a someone and was told a manager would call me back which also never happened. Finally, I was told by the woman on the phone that they "can't guarantee stain removal" and refused to give me a refund. I'm going to try some alternatives online to clean it but I am very disappointed in the cleaning process in addition to lack of professionalism through this vague answer. read more

I needed the sleeves hemmed on a jacket. Alterations Express took them up an inch and a half too much. They were able to graft the cut material back on and make a passable hemline. I figured maybe it was a one time thing and tried them a second time to put 4 eye hooks on a vintage jacket. They charged me $46. The hooks do not line up and are on the outside of the jacket rather than inside like they should be. The one set is off by a full inch. It's unacceptable. I took the jacket to Old Flame Mending to have the hooks put on correctly. I will not go back to Alterations Express and I very much do not recommend them. read more

I was a little leery about coming here with the negative reviews but I had a very positive experience overall. I brought my mom with me and she had a pantsuit altered while I had a formal dress done. Unfortunately, my dress needed altered 2 more times after the initial alteration, which was fine since we had enough time. We were trying to avoid taking the shoulders up and just took in the back, but after taking the back in once and then a second time, it was unavoidable since the chest area wouldn't sit right and the shoulders sagged. The manager came in and took a look and she said that they'd complete the additional alteration at no charge. She was wonderful, very kind and sweet. Honestly there wasn't an employee there who wasn't super kind and friendly. They offered to have my dress the next day but I told them to take their time and I'd pick it up at the end of the week. The manager even called me when it was ready and she wanted to make sure that she was there when I arrived. It all worked out, the dress looks great so I was happy. My husband even took his suit jacket out to be altered since it was now a few sizes too big. They recognized the name and had nice things to say about me to my husband. His alterations were a big project so the tailor came out to fit him. He got fitted on Tuesday and we picked it up today, Saturday afternoon. He was very pleased with the outcome considering that everything but the shoulders had to be taken in. Again, every employee we encountered were super nice and friendly. We will not hesitate to use their services again in the future. By the way, this is a very busy location, people coming and going constantly. There are not that many reviews here for the amount of business that they get. They have dry cleaning and other laundry services in addition to doing alterations. I would give them less than 1 if I could!!! I made the unfortunate split second decision to go to Alterations Express on McKnight Road to have my stepdaughters gray bridesmaids dress altered. She was having a growth spurt so I waited as long as I could for alterations and this who I unfortunately chose! When I dropped it off the seamstress was super nice and friendly and was very helpful! it was altered and we went back in to have her try it on and there is a large, very noticeable green mark on the back, I immediately have her take it off and take it out to the front and the Asst Manager was very apologetic she recognized that it looks as if the mark was from their tags and said please let us send it out for cleaning. I told her to have her managers call me and she said she would and that I can pick it up in 2 days. Two days later, I never heard from the managers, I go in and the dress is not back and the manager is rude as shit! She says "sometimes the color bleeds" ummmm gray doesn't bleed green! That I signed a paper stating I don't hold them responsible, she could not show the paper as I didn't sign anything, I just was rung up for the alterations and left. I showed her the pictures where the tag is burned, I tell her I want my money back and my dress better be in the next day! She says she will talk to her higher ups. So today Shane goes to pick up the dress, the stain is gone, but this manager has the nerve to say she flagged me in their system so I can never go to them or their affiliates again (I see from previous situations here that that is their go to move!), she is not giving us the money back and she thinks the stain was already there! Don't insult my intelligence bitch! I take pictures of everything!!!! EVERYTHING! I'm not naive enough to think that green magically appears on a gray dress! Also you can ban me from doing business, you are doing me a favor, I would never step foot into your location again if you paid me!!! I surely made sure to tell the young lady holding a bridesmaids dress, and everyone else in the lobby, not to get her dress altered here and showed pictures and told her they will likely mess up her dress! This manager had the nerve to say, well you can't dispute it because the work we did was done correctly, yes the hem is correct, I also paid for the service and part of that service was the dress being steamed and not coming back with a different color on it! Save yourself a headache and time and go elsewhere. I had a gown hemmed and it came back an inch shorter than expected. When I spoke to the manager, she offered to steam the dress (as if that would magically make an inch appear on the bottom of my gown). She asked me to wait 30 minutes, after over an hour of waiting she finally brought back my gown. Rather than steaming it like she said they would, they re-hemmed the dress! When I told the manager I saw she did that, and poorly, she lied and said steaming it causes it to lay differently. When I pointed out the holes in my dress from the first time they hemmed it, she said it looked fine. Ultimately, the seamstress rushed, leaving my dress uneven and with small holes at the seams. When I spoke to the manager about the customer satisfaction guarantee, she said she did her job, and there was nothing else she could do. She was very rude and unpleasant. read more

I had taken 2 pair of pants to have zippers replaced. I was charged 20.00 for each pair which was ridiculous. Two different zippers were put into pants. One was fine the other didn't stay up. I wore the pants twice to make sure. I didn't wear two days in a row so after I wore them and then washed to return to get the zipper replaced I was told it was over 10 days and they wouldn't repair the zipper. I came in needing my bridesmaid dress hemmed and taken in. I asked to have my dress hemmed to the floor as that's what the bride requested and the seamstress wouldn't hem without my heels on (which kind of defeats the purpose of trying not to trip over it without shoes on.) When I asked to have it taken in she really gave me a hard time, the dress was literally draping over me and I had to convince her to do what would make me feel more confident and beautiful, I'm the one wearing the dress after all. This might be a good place for a quick fix, but definitely not for something I went in for, I definitely would have appreciated more attentiveness and care. read more

I took my bridesmaid dress here to be hemmed. They have several dressing rooms to try on your garments in. My dress had three layers and they had the work done promptly - it also looked great! The black thread they used on the flesh colored liner stuck out like a sore thumb thru the see thru mesh. Normally I do not write reviews on "retail stores" but I saw that this place only had a single bad review and decided that it was worth my time to write one. The store is located in a strip mall of sorts and so the outside is nondescript except for a a neon sign in the window telling saying "Pants hemmed while u wait". Once inside you can see four dressing room type doors, a counter and all of their dry cleaning/tailoring jobs hanging in the back. All four of the dressing rooms are for tailoring and after you are taken inside there is a sign that informs you to turn on the light when ready. I have been here many times previously and headed in here last night to get my pants hemmed. I have been in here many times in the past 5 years and have never had to wait before so you can imagine my surprise whenever and there was a wait and of course I was in a slight hurry to pick up my girlfriend for dinner. Even though it was slightly inconvenient I would have to say that I only waited five minutes before I was waited on and that I was out the door within ten minutes of being waited on. The lady who took the measurements on my pants was nice and proceeded to engage me in some smalltalk while she was working. She also confirmed that my pants were sitting how I intended them to and that she was measuring for a full break which was good with me. The only thing that was sort of weird with my visit was that it that it was very busy whenever I went to the counter. I tried to pay for the hem up front and even handed my credit card to the lady. She proceeded to do everything except scan my card and after realizing her mistake asked me to pay whenever I was picking up my pants claiming that she was flustered by the number of people in the store. Overall it was a successful visit that probably took about 15 minutes in all. The bottom line for me is that I will definitely head back here in the future to get my pants hemmed. All of the ladies that work there have been friendly to me, I am in and out quickly and my pants have always fit nicely when finished. While the price for a hem is around $12, that's not too unreasonable and is the same that most places including Jos A. Bank charge for the work. The allure of this place is that they always have multiple people there and your pants are done within three days instead of waiting for a single tailor from somewhere else to come in. read more

It's like these women don't want to be paid. I have been here a few times because it is right across the street from where I work and it's hard to make it to places before closing times after work. The last time I went I was having dresses cleaned for weddings I was going to. I showed up the night before I needed to leave to pick up the dress and it's crumpled at the bottom of the bag. They said they couldn't clean it because of the satin. I have no idea why they couldn't have called me and told me that. Then they refused to steam it to get the wrinkles out from laying in the bottom of the bag. I had to take it home and do it myself. I just went for a second time to get a dress fixed for a wedding. I just got it and it's too small and can't be reordered because it was custom made. I knew that some of this was a stretch but I had no choice, was willing to pay whatever and really just needed to get into the thing. The biggest issue was the lining was too tight, which seems super easy to fix since it's covered up anyways. They refused to work on any of it and told me that it was my fault for not getting the right size dress in the first place (which was not my fault because the measurements were wrong on the part of the dress company). I was just looking for a helping hand in an unfortunate situation, and in the end, I'm taking my dress to someone who IS willing to help me. So, make the drive wherever you have to to find another tailor. This place isn't worth your time, money or patience. read more

Brought my Service Dress to Alterations Express for taper alterations and dry cleaning. The Seamstress was thorough and did a nice job. Dry Cleaning service was abysmal and all 4 of my shirts and Jacket will have to be redone when I arrive at my next duty station. Two shirts were starched and two were not. The short sleeve shirts had dozens of wrinkles in them. There was also a 40% up-charge for "Express" 3 day service. 40%. The alteration service was good and the staff was helpful, but I cannot recommend this place to anyone in the military. Save yourself the 160$ and warm the iron up. read more

Stupidly went a again for dry cleaning spent over 100 dollars and 4 of the items weren't touched. They still smelled like a dirty laundry hamper, little stains that needed nothing more than water to get off when I had to clean them myself, were still there. They just cleaned half of the items, but not the other half and charged me for cleaning everything and packed them up as though they were freshly dry cleaned. I went in to have a few dresses altered after losing some weight. I got one of them back, fit perfectly. The second one however, seemed like it wasn't taken in at all where i needed it to be. The women working were extremely rude about it, interrogating me asking if i lost more weight in the 3 weeks it took to come back (there's no way i would've lost the 3 inches on my waist, that they were claiming, in just 3 weeks) I am just completely dissatisfied with the attitudes of the women working there towards someone who is giving them $100+ for some alterations. I've come here several times before this experience and have always been very happy with the work & employees here. But this current time the experience wasn't a good one, and what I'm mostly upset with was the lack of professionalism I received. I brought a dress in this past Tuesday that, to me, needed to be taken-in, in the bust area. They got me right into a fitting room and the girl on Tuesday was very nice. She looked at the dress and immediately understood what I meant and needed. She looked at the side seems and construction of the dress and began to pin, showing me what it would look like - and asked if that was what I would want. It was. She quoted me $16.80 and said I could pick it up Saturday. This was perfect, since I am leaving this coming Wednesday/Thursday for vacation! I return Saturday at 5pm when I was told my dress would be ready. I brought my receipt (since I paid Tuesday) and gave it to the woman behind the counter. Then the counter woman and another lady come out with my dress asking if I had gotten their message. I told them I didn't get a phone call or a message. By now, clearly, something was wrong. I started to ask about it and the older woman said that the pinning that was done Tuesday was all wrong and the price was way off. I started to bulk at both - clearly my dress was NOT touched all week. I began to tell the woman that I already paid, but was told overtop of myself that "ok, but the price was wrong for the work that would need to be done." Anyway, she said she couldn't figure anything out till she saw me in the dress. I agreed. I changed into it and the older woman starts looking around it explaining how, due to the construction of the dress, they couldn't just take the side seems in like I was previously told. She tried several ideas on how to fix it - continuously telling me that it was pinned wrong on Tuesday and that if they were to fix it the way I wanted they'd have to redo the whole side of the dress (or something) and that it'd cost $40-50! She even brought in another woman for a second opinion who basically was saying the same thing. They proceeded to say that I should just get a belt/scarf to tie around to form more of a waist and that it'd look better that way anyways. I told them I wanted a refund since they hadn't touched me dress and they didn't bulk at that - they gave me a return in cash. But now I'm stuck a few days before my vacation trying to figure out how to fix my own dress (and I'm not a seamstress). They do good work here but I was shocked at the lack of professionalism given to my situation. If they actually called, and on Wednesday (Thursday at the latest) something could have been done and I would have been more understanding; everyone makes mistakes. But to say you called (when I didn't get one) the DAY OF PICK UP is unprofessional and leaves zero time to correct the mistake. And they didn't even attempt to apologize or offer to do the work needed on my dress to have it done the way I wanted at the price I already paid. That would have been nice - since it was their fault they pinned & priced wrong. It would have been AMAZING if they would have offered all that Wednesday so my dress would have been ready today! So I'll be thinking twice before going in again if I need something taken in - and apparently you should ask for one of the older woman if you DO need this kind of work done, since according to the lady "the young girls are nice but we've been doing this longer." read more

First of all I have to say that I'm very surprised by the negative reviews Of this place. I started coming here for the dry cleaning about 5 years ago when my husband and I moved to Pittsburgh. Their turnaround is always so quick! I have had my pants hemmed and by the time they were done ringing up my dry cleaning ( which is always a ton lol) my pants were hemmed!! My husband has had his suits altered, shirts altered, and I personally alter just about everything I buy, and everything turns out great. This place is almost always very busy but I'm always in and out in no time. The staff is always is friendly and they always remember my name. I dropped a pair of pants off one week ago to get the legs hemmed. I was told they are very busy and it would take one week to complete the job. I come back today to pickup my pants and they were not complete, and was told to come back 30 minutes later. I show up 30 minutes later and my pants are complete, and asked the woman behind the counter for some type of discount, I was not offered anything for the inconvenience. Immediately upon asking for something back for this inconvenience I was greeted with an eye roll and immediate attitude about how they still got the job done, then was handed a whopping 10% off coupon. I said it doesn't matter about that it was a grave inconvenience having to wait 1 week and 30 minutes for a job that obviously doesn't take very long. I understand everyone is short staffed during this time, however being met with eye rolls and attitude for a problem that was not my fault is horribly unprofessional.
