I dropped off my daughter's dress on Friday, 6/5/2026 to have a strapped fixes. It was my first time ever using this location and company. I went to pick it up on Wednesday 6/10/2026 and when we got it home we noticed it had two wholes in the bust of the dress and it had shrunken. The next day my daughter returned and explained the issues. They first denied any wrong doing and explained they presses and steamed the dress. We showed the tag which said hang dry and don't use heat. The kept the dress for repair to pick up the next day and we reminded them do not press or use heat. When we return we stated it was not pressed and the reply was that it was pressed as they presses everything. We informed them the dress can not take heat and we ask for it not to be presses. She sated this was not communicated and it was. Now the dress is to small, in fact small than the day before. I've basically paid for a strap on a dress that can't be worn. No apology, no refund and I have to replace a $130 dress which will cost more because I have to drive around to find a replacement in a week. For a first time customer this was a horrible experience and the staff didnt care read more

My partner and I have been to this location a number of times! From adjusting sizes to fixing small holes-- their service has continually exceeded our expectations. My son's dad had purchased him a suit on Saturday afternoon for an event the following Saturday. This alterations place was recommended by the company that sold the suit. Because the event was a week away, Dad called Alterations Express to make sure that they could take my son for a fitting on Monday and have the alterations completed before Saturday. They assured him that we did not need an appointment, that we could just come in, get measurements, and that everything would be all set by the following Saturday. My son and I walked in on Monday. There was a woman with short dark hair behind the counter who seemed to be annoyed that we were even there. She asked what we needed, and I told her we needed a suit tailored by Saturday. She coldly replied that they were full and they they could not take him. I explained that my son's dad had spoke with someone on Saturday who assured us that they would take him, and she simply shrugged her shoulders and said they were full. She made it very clear she didn't care, or want to help us any further. And by reading the other bad reviews on this company, I'm pretty sure it's the same employee that others have been complaining about. My son's dad ended up calling this alterations place and asking why they didn't take us when it was conveyed to him on Saturday that none of this would be a problem. After he was on hold, they told him we could come back. At this point I was well on my way to another alterations place (which is a highly rated alterations place on Yelp 1 city north that was more than kind, accommodating, and half the price), and really didn't care to go back and give them my business. If you are a manager reading this, it was never about the fact that MAYBE you guys booked up in a matter of a few business hours. Your communication and customer service is this establishment is lacking. This is any easy fix! You will not have a more loyal customer than someone who is happy with their tailor. We won't be back. As a matter of fact, this other alterations place was the complete opposite as far as customer service (they even had us come in even though they were closed), that we will gladly give them our business in the future. read more

Great work. Reasonable price. Needed zipper replaced for a full length winter down jacket. Very happy with results.

They do very good work but it's expensive to get alterations done in my opinion. My fiancé has a heavy and expensive work coat for winter. It needed the zipper replaced. I was told the heavy material and a pocket being in the way drove the price up to $85. While that is much higher than I'd expect to pay for a zipper replacement, I had no choice because this is a specialty coat for fiancé's work. ‍ At least I had a 10% coupon from signing up for joining the email club The high quality of work they have done for me over the years has earned my trust. I have used their sewing expertise on several pieces of my older clothing and they have always done an excellent job. They reversed shirt collars, took in a waist on a nice pair of trousers, and really made an older Peterbilt winter jacket like new again by replacing the cuffs and mending holes at the end of the sleeves. The first lady that help me with the fitting/altering was very sweet. But the Mariann, she is something else. I don't think I'll be going back Bc of mariann. She needs to alter her customer service skills. I came to pick up my dress, asked to use the restroom. Apparently customers are considered public, don't ask to used their restroom while waiting for your stuff to be finish. She took my payment without me trying on my dress which wasn't the case the last time I was there. I saw two other people trying on their dress before paying. She took my payment, once done with that she said your dress is hanging right there. Um ok, I don't get to try it on too see if everything fits right?!?! At this point I'm irritated to the max. She point to the dress room. Not explaining anything. So I'm not sure if they were going to fit anything if something wasn't right. Yeah I'm not coming back!!! I used to get a the sleeves of a suit jacket altered a while back when women did not roll the sleeves on their suit jackets. The tailor did an awesome job with the sleeves fitting. I now wear this jacket often when I go to church. read more

They didn't think it was and wanted to add these pads that pushed my boobs up even more and made me look like a hussy. We settled on them bring up the shoulder seam. It was $60. I took a pair of expensive jeans in to have the zipper repaired. (I had it repaired at another place and they screwed it up, so I thought I'd try this place). I specifically requested that they match the original stitching(it was a double stitch). When I went to pick them up today, they only did a single stitch. I told the woman that I specified that I wanted the stitching to match...but apparently, they did not notate that. When the woman went to the back to ask for them to be redone, she rudely said "why" and "she will have to leave them, I can't do them tonight." I should have gone with my gut when I dropped them off and another employee was so rude. I will bring anything else them again. read more

Previously very pleased with the service I received at this locations. Marianne is a gem. Unfortunately, I had a very bad experience where a pair of jeans was lost. When this was brought to Irena's attention, she accused me of hiding the jeans and insisted on searching my personal belongings. When I refused, she scolded me and suggested I miscounted the number of items I dropped off. Eventually, I personally inspected the rack where items awaiting alteration were stored and notified my jeans on the floor. After bringing this to Irene's attention, she demanded to know how I had found them. Her behavior was unprofessional and highly disrespectful. Poor show! read more

I actually think that Alterations Express deserves zero stars, but that's not an option so one star it is. I had never used Alterations Express, and will never again (and they're kind of missing out since I'm short and need everything hemmed). I brought my wedding dress here to be altered. It wasn't a super complicated alteration, and the dress wasn't very fancy (it was just an off the rack ivory dress from Macy's) since we were just eloping at City Hall. However, in the end, I was in tears. I'm still annoyed about it, and have rarely experienced such atrocious customer service. The dress needed hemmed, and taken in. Paid extra for a rush order....which wasn't done on time. They tried to talk me into picking it up 2 or 3 days later (for the same price). I tried to explain that I needed it by a certain day because it was for a wedding. I felt like the upcharge was a little high, but I figured it would be worth it. I also thought it was a little weird that one of the layers of fabric was just in the front (so not a ton of hemming) but I was charged slightly higher than the other layers. The night before my wedding, I show up a little after 5pm (as instructed per the receipt) to try on the dress, make sure it's perfect, and go home with my dress. Except.... first they couldn't find my dress. They tried telling me that I didn't drop it off. I politely said, no I did and here's my receipt. They rolled their eyes, and still tried to tell me that I didn't leave the dress there (so I handed them $150 for nothing more than a small receipt?). Maybe the woman pitied me or wanted to prove that she was right and my dress wasn't there, so she decided to go look again. At this point, I was told that they LOST IT. I was super proud that I didn't yell or scream or swear or name call. I stood my ground and politely asked that they look again b/c it's my wedding dress. After almost 15 minutes they found it... and it's not altered. They tried telling me it'd be ready Friday. I explained thank you, but no, I'm getting married Wednesday so Friday won't work - plus um, I PAID for it to be ready before then. The woman said, "Oh, but Friday is fine. It'll be ready in time for Wednesday". I tried to explain I needed it THIS Wednesday (and the receipt didn't just say "Tuesday after 5pm" but rather "Tuesday May 14 after 5pm". Then she had the audacity to tell me it was my fault that the dress wasn't altered b/c I didn't tell them when I needed it (why else would I pay extra? And I repeatdly told her when I needed it by, which at the very latest was Tuesday). After I said no way, she said it was the initial employee's fault and NOT her fault, so I should get it Friday. She tried telling me that she would "help me out" and made it sound like a big deal that the dress would be ready Friday morning and not afternoon. Jeepers! Thanks so much for going out of your way to have my dress ready after I need it, and allowing me the privilege of paying extra! This went around like this for over 5 minutes, until I started crying. I'm not proud that I cried. I was under a great deal of stress (unrelated to the wedding), and not feeling well. When I tried to explain that I paid extra for it to be ready by a certain day, she got annoyed. (I should note that if they couldn't have done it, I would have appreciated them telling me so, and then I would have gone home, tried to do it myself or worn something else. And then not leave a review.) Finally she said that they could do it, and I could get it Wednesday afternoon. Except I'm getting married at 10am. She then basically said I shouldn't get married on such short notice, and again mentioned this mix-up was my fault. I was in a bit of pain and upset, so I kind of cried a little more and said I really needed it, and then just told her I wanted the dress and to be refunded so I could go. I didn't want it altered. She said she would check to see if they had done anything yet, but if I took the dress (even unaltered) they refused to refund any money. The employee told me that it was too late, they were working on it and to come back around 8pm (they close at 7, so I made sure they would still be there). I told her it wasn't fair that i paid extra for this. Finally the manager came over and begrudgingly said Id be refunded for my surcharge, but that it wasn't their fault, it was my fault. Fine whatever. I go buzz around for a few hours, and come back... and the'yre closed. No employees that I could see. I called them and someone said that'd let me in and I could have my dress. The manager handed me my cash and my dress. I asked if I should try it on, and she was annoyed, rolled her eyes and said if I really wanted to I could but they were CLOSED. I decided not to because if anything was wrong, what could be done? She didn't give me the full amount back once I counted it at home, and the alterations job wasn't that great. I came to pick up my alterations, and they had dry cleaned the suit that I dropped off, but never even started the alterations. They handed me my suit and told me I was all set. Fortunately, I decided to try it on, and soon discovered they had not done the job I paid them to do. I had to come back 2 1/2 hours later when I was promised they would be done, but my alterations were not completed correctly. The nasty lady who does the sewing there tied to blame it on my suit, like it was of inferior quality, when in actuality it was a higher-end European garment that cost over $700. They then wanted additional money to perform more alterations. Unfortunately, I felt stuck. I was working with a very tight timeline because I had a charity event coming up that I needed the suit for. So, I asked them to correct their mistakes so that I could have my suit in time. Anyway, I came back the next day to pick up my suit, and the alterations were complete, but the quality of the workmanship was poor quality at best. I would not recommend taking anything to this place since they almost ruined an expensive men's suit that should have been a very common type of alteration work for them. I wish that I had checked Yelp before, as these people clearly do most of their work hemming slacks for old ladies, and not doing professional tailoring of high end garments. Also, I have had many suits tailored, as I have been wearing them for business for over 20 years, and I found their pricing to be extremely high, especially considering the terrible customer experience, and poor workmanship. Like I said, I cannot stress enough, that anyone considering Alterations Express should go elsewhere. I think they should actually change the name of the business to "Mutilations Express", since they clearly have no business being in this line of work. read more

I was going to give this place a try but after walking in the door the woman at the counter didn't seem to interested in the concerns of the woman before me. She pointed me right into a room without asking me any questions or greeting me. I then read some reviews while in the room and noticed hey don't even acknowledge anything but positive feedback. That alone tells me they aren't interested in providing excellent customer service. Pricing seemed a bit high as well but I'm more interested in the service. I did not receive service based on how the employees held themselves and communicated or lack there of. I simply took my garments and left the store. read more

Saw the ad in Market Magazine, "Any Alteration. Anytime." and had high hopes. I'd wanted this job done by a professional seamstress for almost a year. However, in about two minutes, my hopes were dashed - in a very firm, short and tart manner. "We're not doing it:" the final answer. I felt sorry for even asking. Maybe the ad should have read: "Not just any Alteration at Any Time." Then I wouldn't have wasted their time or mine.
