We ordered and it took 30 minutes to get our breakfast when there was no other customers in the place! They probably share a kitchen with the Chalet. The sourdough toast is amazing with rustic bread. Don't order scrambled eggs. The classic breakfast was fine but the ham was like shoe leather. I would have preferred to get breakfast at the Chalet except the Chalet opened late. They don't want to take business away from each other. If you want to have breakfast items the next morning very early, go to Starbucks the day before to get your food for the next morning. read more

This is not even close to worth it. Incredibly expensive for what you receive, the portion sizes are incredibly small so a single entree will not fill one up. The gnocchi was incredibly undercooked, to the point where the dough was stuck in my mouth. I could have fit the entirety of the entree in my hand, and for $30 it was a waste of time and money. It would be better to grab food from the quick-stop across the way, or even bring your own food. Altitude Restaurant and her sister restaurant, Chalet, are part of the Glacier View Lodge. Altitude offers breakfast, a lunch buffet, and table service dinner, while Chalet is more of casual grab and go spot. We decided to try Altitude and stopped in for an early dinner. As one of the first customers we had a choice of tables and selected one of the many that had windows looking out to the beauty that is Canada, mountains and the Athabasca Glacier. You don't get that kind of view in Florida, that's for sure. This has been a great vacation so far. I started with their Mushroom Bisque followed by their Short Rib. It wasn't a great meal but a good one. The bisque was a bit bland but the quantity was there, I was satisfied. Same for the short rib, could have had more flavor and be juicier, but it was fine. After a day of Icefield Parkway awe with many miles (err, kilometers) yet to go before reaching Jasper, this was a welcomed break. I appreciate the fact that they have all these nice amenities near the natural wonders. It can be tricky, bringing all these many tourists to places that are both awe inspiring, and fragile. The Altitude Restaurant has a full buffet that can pretty much satisfy most appetites. It has plenty of cold salads, hot entrees, desserts and beverages. I especially enjoyed the slow cooked, barbecue brisket. It was fatty, but that's the way I like it. The views outside the windows were spectacular. Most of the help was new, but eager, and friendly. Most of the low-rated reviews were due to complaints about high price and/or slow service. For God's sake, you are in a remote and Canadian version of a US national park here where both raw ingredients and staff number and experiences are in short supply. Despite the above-mentioned limitations, the lodge and this restaurant are trying to deliver above average choices. We especially liked the tender Alberta lamb and the crispy Arctic char. The garlic and parsley induced butter that came with the bread was also unique and tasty. For breakfast, smoked salmon with lemon confit and house pickled onion brought zest to the morning before the walk on the Althabasca Icefield. We were so hungry When we visited the icefield glaciers In alberta earlier this month...we lot track of time and forgot that there was no restaurants for the next hr of driving. Since it was dinner time and we were still at the disembarkation station...we decided to try the only place that was open, and this was the altitude restaurant that was connected to the icefields park. One great thing about this place was dinner with a view! We were treated to not only a spectacular view but an excellent dinner as well. The food served here can easily rival any fine dining restaurant in vancouver. Each one carefully made and presented well. The best dish of the night was the salmon. The skin was crispy and charred perfectly and the meat was juicy and moist. The sauce accompaniment was perfect. The chicken breast with the creamy potato croquettes that came with the poultry was so good. Crunchy with a creamy Center filling. Outside it was encrusted well. The chicken was cooked to perfect temp, making the meat succulent. The AAA alberta beef pappardelle was just excellent. The sauce was so creamy and the beef so tender. It definitely highlighted the quality of alberta beef. Lastly, even the kids burger was made so well. My son loved it. Fries were so good. Double fried to perfection. I took 1 star away because the establishment demanded 18% grats for a table of 6 right away before even service began. Should've been ok if they actually worked for it. But flagging a server down for ketchup or even a refill of our water glasses was so hard that i had to grab the water jars myself as they were within reach. We were not happy with the service but satisfied with the food and ambiance. Where else can you dine and enjoy fabulous food while enjoying the majestic views of the athabasca glacier. The view of this restaurant is definitely the best part of your experience here. The food is average, nothing special or super flavorful, and very overpriced. I ordered the chicken entree for $38 and received barely half a chicken breast, bone in it still so the meat amount was less. My friend even bit down on a small bone that was left in his. It was tender, but still bland despite the gravy sauce poured on top. The dish also comes with rainbow carrots, mushrooms and potatoes. I asked for extra potatoes instead of mushrooms, but I'm not even sure they gave me more. The veggies are cut in half and small portions. We definitely all left the restaurant still hungry, not willing to pay more for average food. read more

Service was fine. For my brother and father, the food was decent, they are non veg.for vegetarian, my mom had a salad which she was decent. I chose the cauliflower steak as a vegetarian and was massively disappointed, there was no seasoning at all on the cauliflower, literally nothing so just chuck a whole cauliflower in the oven and that's what you get. The puree was fine. But surely you can do better especially at the price point. I tried to fix it with salt and pepper, but it didn't work. For dessert, my family chose bread pudding. To get the obvious point out of the way, yes - this place is overpriced. That's what you get when you're one of 2 restaurants located near a tourist attraction in the middle of nowhere. I paid 25 dollars for a burger and fries. That's outrageous but again, it's to be expected. Price aside, the burger was pretty damn good. The toppings were fresh, the burger was cooked well, and the fries were excellent. Make sure to ask for their garlic aioli, which is great for dipping your fries/onion rings into. The views around the restaurant is also pretty spectacular. It's just a few hundred feet away from the Athabasca glaciers, and on a clear day, you can see just about everything. Came here for a desperate need for breakfast on the drive from Jasper to Lake Louise. Views of the glacier are fantastic, but food was just average. My husband ordered the traditional breakfast that comes eggs of choice, potatoes, toast of choice and bacon. Bacon wasn't on it until he asked for it. Would recommend trying the maple butter. Service was a bit disappointing. Felt like we were dealing with two waiters (one was probably a higher up who seated us initially) but they came on separate occasions asking the same thing. Both were nice but communication was lacking amongst the staff. This just may be my personal preference but I always think water should be served regardless of whether other drinks are ordered and black coffee should be asked to be refilled. read more

The food for dinner is fine but not for the amount of money you have to spend, $40.00 for a piece of chuck roast. I guess it's better then going hungry. Food was mediocre, salmon had a strong fishy taste to it, I personally didn't like it. Tenderloin I ordered medium rare, slightly overcooked and the meat was a little tough but that was fine too. Our servant was very friendly and great, her name was Nicole, she was the only highlight of our dining experience, good conversation. What I dislike the most was the manager who checked us in. Put us at a table next to a column which blocked most of the views, when I requested to change table, he said all other tables are reserved. However from when we sat down till when we stood up and left, none of those "reserved tables" were occupied by anyone. Somehow I feel the manager was racist towards Asians but perhaps I could be wrong, anyway it wasn't a pleasant experience overall. My husband had the Artisanal Greens and Noble Meadows Goat's Cheese, which was lovely. Then, we shared the Beef Stroganoff. I'm glad that we shared, because it was quite large. It is the only food and lodging facility in the area. I ordered the lobster bisque $17 ... fantastic, the bison steak , $44 , it was a different type of meat I never would eat in the big city . Slightly gamey . The side order of potatoes was cooked differently in a layer cake formation , could be better but the brussel sprouts were delicious. If you attend this restaurant make sure you get a table along the window so you can see the glacier. Honestly, you could find better value someplace else but there is no other place . The location of the restaurant is unbeatable. Is facing the Athabasca Glacier. We were there as part of the Evening in the Ice deal. After visiting the ice field, is very nice to have a nice dinner at the restaurant. Not sure if is intend or not, not if the event participants were assigned a window seat, a bit disappointing. The food is above average. We picked the cream of mushroom as appetizer, love that they use white truffle in the soup. You can smell the truffle when the server bring the soup to our table. Entree was sirloin, we mentioned we like medium rare but the steak was medium to medium well done. Good that the beef is good quality so the steak is still tender. Dessert is sorbet, raspberry, mango and lemon with blueberry sauce on top. Very delicious. read more

This was the only place to eat at when visiting the Columbia icefields. The place seemed to be completely booked out - this is perfectly OK. What was strange to me was the communication from the host. Fortunately we were early and were seated though the place was booked out. Many of the guests who walked in while we waited for our order had heated arguments with the host. This made the whole experience very unpleasant since we were seated at the first table and heard every argument. It would have helped greatly if the host was better trained in handling guests. read more
