I'm still not sure about ghosts but the folks that run this operation take it very seriously and did a great job of presenting historical information about the MIneral Springs hotel and some of its past visitors that may still be...hmmm...visiting. They also went into great detail about the background on a number of individuals buried in the Alton Cemetery which we also toured in the dark with flashlights. The cost per person was $30 which included soft drinks and snacks at the hotel. Everyone also received a tarot card reading. Oh...did I mention we held a seance in the cemetery....hmmm. The entire event took about four hours and I have to admit a few strange things happened during the tour. So based on the presentation of four hours of well-thought out entertainment in a dark cemetery and old hotel, I give these folks four stars and a recommendation to check them out. Tip #1: Bring a flashlight and wear comfortable walking shoes Tip #2: Leave kids under 10 at home Tip #3: If you ever plan to go on a ghost tour anywhere, download an app called Ghost Radar. It was not made by the owners at Mineral Springs (or me), but they told us about it. It cost a buck and I still can't believe what happened when we used it during the tour of the cemetery. We took the guided tour ($8 for seniors) and had a phenomenal tour guide. He was a recent graduate with a degree in history. His tour was very informative and he tried hard to dispel some of the myths surrounding Daniel Boone and some misconceptions based on the Festus Parker protrayal of Daniel Boon on TV. He was great. After the guided tour of the house, we did a self guided tour of the historic village. This was well worth the visit.

However, we went to a wedding rehearsal after they told us over the phone we could, as long as it was between 3-5 people. When we showed up Nancy threw a total fit and would only allow one person inside the church at a time. We asked her if this is really how she wants to be remembered, as this was the first wedding, she didn't seem to care. Maybe this place should offer therapists, seems some of the work force is struggling at home...

The snow was coming down before we began our trip. Cindy our driver, and Glenda our concierge, were not only a fantastic team but made even the nervous passengers feel at ease. Glenda came around with candy for everyone and had a little trivia to pass the time for the up'ing travelers. Traffic was so backed up, because of the weather, but Cindy maneuvered around the traffic and got us to the show on time. It was wonderful to be dropped RIGHT at the door. The snow continued while we were at the show. When we came out, she was again Right at the door. How convenient! Especially with all the little "Elsa's" not completely dressed for the weather. We had to wait to start the snowy trek home. There were 3 passengers missing for quite a while, and Glenda went on a hunt for them. She and Cindy were patient and polite to the absent passengers, and Cindy attended to us waiting patiently on the coach. Cindy was an EXCELLENT driver and made everyone feel very safe. The driving conditions with crazy semi's zooming by was nerve wracking, but Cindy handled it with ease. Glenda brought the Frozen DVD to watch on the way home. It was a great distraction for anxious passengers and the tired young uns. When we arrived back, Glenda helped people clean off the 3+ inches of snow mounded on their vehicles. Cindy waited in the coach with passengers while their cars warned up. WOW....these ladies were impressive!!! If I could give 10 stars I would!!!
