Over these past few years, I've developed consistent and nagging pains in so many areas of my body. I have Biofreeze cream, several ice packs, a Theragun Pro, stretch bands. In addition, I've frequented many massage places ranging from $20 foot massages (early 2010s) to $300 luxury spa massages. Nothing gave me solid relief.... Until I went here and got the best massage in my entire life. Ken is the nicest guy in the world and gave me a VERY specific and targeted massage in my problem areas (shoulders, chest, forearms, glutes, calves). This was no generic foot massage. Ok, Enlightened Thai:: What a treat!! Admittedly, I came because a friend gave me a gift…read morecertificate for my birthday, but (SPOILER ALERT!), I would 100% return!! I booked one hour Holistic Thai-Swedish massage with Nirisara. Nirisara is really good and super nice! I highly recommend the "grapefruit" scent (they give you a choice of lavender, grapefruit, and....smthg else I can't remember) at the beginning of the massage. Choose grapefuit and thank me later. First part of the massage was what I call the "meat tenderizing" portion where Nirisara will legit crush your muscles to relax them. (I asked for "medium-firm" pressure). She delivered! But the Thai portion of the massage also includes range of motion stuff. They'll literally pick up your arm or leg and start manipulating it, or put it in a particular position to then help you stretch better. At some points, Nirisara physically got on the massage bed (which seemed heated and comfy to me) to use her elbows and full weight to massage large muscle groups, like my spinal muscles. The massage started off with meat tenderizing, then a little Thai range of motion-y stuff, then full blown Swedish massage with oil, and then more Thai stuff. They work your full body: feet to scalp! I'm not sure if it's because I might have been the last booking for the day, but my massage was over an hour. I kept dreading my hour would be over, and it kept going! And at the end they gave me Fiji water and a pack of trail mix. Conclusion: I am enlightened!!! I thought my massage was great!! I will be booking a follow-up massage in the upcoming weeks because they have such a vast repertoire! Don't let the name of the business fool you, they also have full Swedish massage, hot stone massage, deep tissue, prenatal, etc etc! While my service was free (due to the gift certificate) I did leave a tip for Nirisara. I would 100% book with her again! Per the website, the cost of my one hour Holistic Thai-Swedish massage is typically $145.

The class really left us feeling like these were techniques we could easily continue practicing at home. The value of the class was great since we used a Groupon deal. 2 hour class, guys were on the tables first and then the girls. One of the guys in our class fell asleep while on the table which I guess is a good sign? The slanted roof was a bit bothersome for the part of the class when I had to sit on that side of the table, and I'm pretty short so I can't imagine how tall people manage in this location. That being said, I believe that the SF location has more tables and I do prefer a smaller group for this class. Ladies, you will get topless under your blankets so make sure your partner makes a good blanket tent to cover you up! Another thing I wasn't expecting was that we had to remove our shoes at the door so I wouldn't wear flip flops next time. After the class, our teacher struggled with her Square reader when some of us tried to purchase the second class. A bit of wasted time and eventually she gave up, but luckily the owner was very good about contacting us after and making sure we got our purchase figured out. I'd probably try a new instructor for the second series just to vary our learning experiences even more.
