A few years ago, I had them come out to give me an estimate, and the guy was extremely friendly and…read morecool. However, when I reached out to them this year (on two separate occasions) about fixing a small leak, I could never get through to anyone, and no one ever got back to me. To me, this seems to indicate that the business is rather unreliable and unprofessional.

3 years ago, Scottie's applied plumbers putty around the sink strainer in my 83-year- old mother's…read morekitchen to stop it from leaking, then reattached the drain pipes under the sink. I was skeptical, from the start, as their estimate was written on an old auto body shop's estimate sheet. The worker finished the entire job in about 30 minutes. The sink strainer install was great. However, they charged her for all new piping under the sink when they had clearly just reconnected what was already there!! AND... adding insult to injury... (ed. Note~ I am a certified teacher, and have always been good at math.) Someone explain how: 1- Kitchen sink strainer with putty(le try s say $30 on the high end) + 30 minutes labor ______________________ $750.00 Do these fools charge $1,440 per hour for labor?!! Because thats what it works out to after subtracting the cost of the strainer...which is the only part they provided!!! or do they just take advantage of little old ladies?!! It seems to me that their bookkeeper shouldve noticed and corrected such an egregious error!! To top it all off, he used the Square and is phone to charge her, said he'd return with a receipt, and never did. Not in person or by mail!! Now this might've been a one-off screwing over of a customer, but somehow I don't think so!! They saw a vulnerable customer, and took full advantage of her lack of knowledge!! Scottie's will never receive 1 second of work from us in the future, and I'd advise everyone else to avoid them as well.

PLEASE BEWARE- I met with Jeff (owner of MPC Plumbing) at my house for a complete boiler…read morereplacement job on (18AUG2020). He gave me a quote and stated it would be a 2-day job with 2 people and he would start the next day after I placed half payment as a deposit. He did come out on (19AUG2020) with someone and the new boiler was delivered. I gave him a key to my house since it was vacant and I trusted he would get the job done without having to hover over them all day. I didn't hear from him until (25AUG2020) when he text me stating the boiler had no electricity going to it. I hired an electrician to check it out and shockingly there was electricity, he failed to look at the switch labeled "Boiler Switch" which was right on the wall right by the boiler. I messaged him and said there's electricity. No response. On (31AUG2020) I messaged him on status and he said there's still work needing done. On (04SEP2020) I asked if the job was complete and he said "yes - need to get the old boiler out of there". Since (19AUG2020) the old boiler was sitting in the middle of my driveway- stripped of parts. I hired someone to remove the 300+ pound piece of metal from my property on (06SEP2020). Besides the length of time and lack of communication, leaving a stripped boiler on my driveway, and having me hire an electrician for no reason, what else could go wrong? Jeff tried taking advantage of my lack of knowledge on boilers. They had put the old burner on the new boiler while pocketing the new burner (worth $600+) and charging me for it! I left town to be with my husband serving overseas, so my mom and dad were to update me on the payment for completion since Jeff never answered my calls before I left. He met with my mom for payment and she asked if he put all new parts- he said yes. When he was called out for taking the new burner he offered to hand it over. We came to an agreement on price adjustment and I paid him the remainder I owed as I thought he should get paid for the work he did do with the parts he provided. Come to find out- I paid him by check on (09OCT2020) and on (10OCT2020) the boiler wasn't working! My realtor called him to fix it and he stated he wouldn't hold his 1-yr warranty since I owed him money. I have the invoice showing complete payment and he never stated it was void warranty. I end up having someone else come out and he said it was "the most ass-backwards install he ever seen." Pipes and valves were all wrong and I had to hire another company to fix the boiler for a hefty bill. Thankfully I placed a stop payment on my check or I would have been out of thousands more on top of the thousands I spent fixing his mess up. He says he has 30-years plus experience but damn he messed this up bad and showed no remorse for the damage he could have done to my house as winter approached. No form of integrity and poor quality work. He talked down on the bigger known companies in Fairbanks but I guarantee they're more professional and reliable than he will ever be. I have picture and video proof so he can not deny any of this.
