I recently had my wedding dress and other dresses for wedding events altered at this location of Alts and I cannot recommend them enough. I worked with Myrna on my wedding dress and she was absolutely wonderful and so talented! She made my feel comfortable and like she loved my dress just as much as I did. Myrna created a bustle for my dress that allowed it to be tucked under as I wanted to emphasize detailing on the back of the dress. The bustle was easy to understand and so well made given the challenges presented by my pleated ball gown dress with a long train. Myrna was truly a joy and I felt so lucky to have her by my side working with me to make sure my dress fit perfectly and looked amazing both bustled and full with the train. I also had a complicated beaded dress with a very low back altered to be my reception dress. I am big busted so this presented a challenge, but they did an amazing job and I felt supported dancing the night away after Alts worked its magic on the dress! Myrna was a wedding dress life saver ! She took a difficult dress situation and turned it around for me. My dress was simple and modern with a bust that took a lot of work. She worked with me to manage the tight turnaround and always made me feel confident that the dress was going to come together , and it did! I also brought her pieces of my mom and mother in laws wedding dress to sew inside my dress and inside my husbands suit . A special little detail that she went above and beyond to help execute . As if that wasn't enough, I decided to bring an after party dress to her as well last minute . She hand cut the dress in front of me and it was exactly as I envisioned. She brought in the bust and voila ! Dress #2 came alive . Her gentle manner and confidence in her craft made me feel at ease during a very stressful time. The service here is outstanding. I had a button on my winter jacket come off, and had been putting off getting it fixed because it's winter and I can't go without my jacket. While in the neighborhood, I saw this location and walked in without an appointment to see if they could help me while I wait. It was 10 minutes before closing - but they did it! I've never been to Alts before, but I needed measurements quickly for a custom dress and after researching various places I booked an appointment through their website and arrived about 5 mins before my scheduled appointment time. However, the system allowed me to book the appointment during their lunch break. I had to wait about 10-15 mins for the employees to finish lunch (which was fine), but the unprofessional part was hearing chatter about me having an appointment during their lunch time. Once my measurements were taken the process was very efficient. I would have given them 5/5 stars, but the little lack of professionalism took me back especially considering that I was NOT a walk in, but a customer who had actually booked the appointment through their system online. I'm not sure if I will return to this particular location, but I'm open to traveling the distance to their other locations for better customer service. read more

Called last minute to drop by. Mya the receptionist was very kind, fast and efficient in making sure I could be seen. Arrived to have a helpful assistant Christy show me around. The fitting was done by Fabien and overseen by Myrna (the manager). While what I was seeking could have been a huge amount of work, they help me in making it simple and cost effective. Alts is expensive, but i would trust alts with any of my clothes or items. You don't need an appointment n there is never a wait.

Prices are a joke. They wanted 275 dollars to take out a flannel shirt and to fix a minor hem on some pants.

Ive been coming here for awhile for alterations, and I can seriously say its the best. I come here for wedding dresses, jeans and everything in between. I needed simple alterations for a dress I was wearing for a wedding in just over two weeks. I brought it in mistakenly thinking that I would be able to get my dress back in a timely fashion. For the simple alteration I needed, they quoted me over a month turn around time for $160. Since i needed the dress back in two weeks they told me they could do a rush for about $50 more. In desperation, and I think this is what they plan for, I paid for the work. I've had more complicated alterations done in less time at a lower cost. I will never use them again for straight forward jobs when there is Best Cleaners around the corner. read more

I came to Alts almost precisely two months out from my wedding date And I had no idea the amount of work my dress would need prior to arriving at the Alts studio. I'm 5'2, therefore, I was in need of many inches removed from the seven layers in my wedding dress. The team at Alts in Brooklyn Heights Walked me through the necessary tailoring to make me feel comfortable walking in my gown on my wedding day. During my second fitting, my dress was nothing short of perfect from the length removed at the bottom to the alterations made on seemingly impossibly thin straps to work with. During my third and final fitting when I picked up my dress one week prior to my wedding date, I had the perfect dress and never once felt that I was going to be disappointed. The team had to hand stitch the bottom of my dress to get it back to the original design and when I got the dress back, it was as if no alterations had been made at all to the original trim. I was curious about alts and was on the fence because I was sure if the quality would be different from my local dry cleaners. The difference was night and day. In fact I'm writing a review in the office after dropping off two pairs I had done at the dry cleaners. I'm a big guy and getting clothes to fit well is important. I bought my wedding dress a year ago and took it to David's Bridal to have it altered because it was one of their dresses. I won't get into all the ways that they were bad actors but I will say that they BUTCHERED my dress. The armholes were way too high and in my armpits, to take the dress in they literally took off the hidden zipper, folded the dress in on itself and put in an inappropriate zipper. It was way too tight and the zipper stuck out. Additionally, a lot of the trim detail was missing. I was devastated. My friends and fiance jumped into action and Myrna saved my dress. I truly thought I would need to scramble to find a new one a month before my wedding. I am so happy to get to wear the dress that I picked out. I don't think I was the typical customer at Alts necessarily- I came in to have the sleeves adjusted in a leather punk studded jacket amid brides to be getting their gowns tailored. I was treated with the same importance, which I found really professional; they had me up on the small platform in front of the mirrors and everything haha. Myrna did a fantastic job on my leather- fits so much better. A bonus is the shop is super organized, clean, and smells nice. Check in and appointment making is easy and while you should be expected to pay for quality it was still less than I was bracing myself for given the fanciness of the shop. I've been getting alterations for years. Was excited to try Alts but the prices are kind of kooky. Buttonhole: $30, Taper: $65, small seam on shoulders: $85 The blouse cost $150 so the total for alterations was $162 with a new customer 10% discount. Probably worth it for high-end designer clothing or gowns, not everyday things. read more
