I've had several accounts in different banks from Farmer's & Merchant to Barkley's bank 1973 till today.Your my favorite bank of all time. I've had Wells Fargo, but they made handicapped wait in triple digits outside for over 1 1/2 hour's during Covid because closing one of their banks here in Hemet. Also, they began being rude to people which in my lifetime never seen before. It wasn't at me but made me shut my account. Other banks in my time a huge scam with poor communication and explanation of types of accounts. I found this bank after a small bank hete in Hemet continuing to make me change my password every other month and continuing to pause my account when buying anything. I'd be stuck in the middle of the night in LA not able to get gasoline my card frozen twice! Crying that I wouldn't get raped, mugged or attacked because I was stuck at the gas station begging for enough gas to come home. My money 100's of dollars and my bank froze my account again. Because I ordered from Amazon! Your bank has allowed me to only take out what money I put in and never get a overdraft fee. Love it love it! No absolutely love it! Because if I think Im being scammed I transfer my extra money to my other account to see if online order is a scam. Then your bank quickly help me freeze my account to get a new debit card from Amazon stealing my money the same day as 3 other customers! Yes 2 of us were talking to each other happening on the same day. Wait, the amazing customer service and incredible help I've gotten, no words for it! Seriously, from my checks ordered to getting my money orders and banking quickly. Most of all depositing my checks from my house is way too easy! Ok.. it is having access to my account without having to change my passwords every other month. No freezing my account for lagit purchases. I was actually afraid to purchase anything so I use another account because my previous experience was as soon as I purchased anything my account would be frozen making me reply no it's me. Please don't freeze my account. Your bank has online deposit with nothing going wrong!.the WiFi is always working and you do your updating maintenance late so I can still shop at night without worrying if my check deposit came in. Now! People need to know how to not allow more money to go out then what is in my account. You guys are perfect in updating right away and I can check asap. Making it impossible for me to do a overdraft. I know my bills and how much is available. Since 1973 I've had a few incredible banks but nothing compared to Altura Credit Union! I recommend this bank hands down. People, I'm not even kidding. If one customer complained on reviews, they could have fixed the problem. Also, make sure to ask them every question and understand what is being said. Ask for no overdraft do not allow a charge to go through if funds aren't available. Like it say $10.00 change but then they put a $30 charge without your permission of an additional $20. Shipping allow your band to say fund are unavailable. So no overdraft charge. These companies charges that are a scam use a different card to test. I'm finally safe with this bank. I can now use another account for scams yes I use cash app only putting money on it from websites I don't know plus all my Amazon because they steal. I have always had Amazing service at this location . As well as the san jacinto one . Everyone is nice . There is a Security guard standing outside by the ATMs so you feel safe. The parking lot is a little small so parking is a bit cramped. I used auto expert and was able to purchase a new vehicle with the bank. It was an amazing experience. Always prefer a credit union over a mass chain banks. This place was fine; line about 4 people long in the early morning on a weekday with 3 tellers. Get to the front and I'm told that they can not do a withdrawal from my credit union which is not their bank but the ATM outside would allow...so there's that. Went outside and withdrew my money from their ATM. read more

Outside ATM terminals were down so I went inside to deposit the money I need to pay my rent in 4 days, the teller says since the ATM is down she can do nothing for me and turned me away to go home without any type of help. Absolutely the worst service I have ever received at a credit union, completely unacceptable. I'm a new customer with Altura. I went to a lot of trouble to do this as I receive money from out of the country. I have been using Wells Fargo for YEARS - like 25-35 years. Suddenly, they decide to raise their fees, big time. I closed my business account and threw the money into my personal checking account. Then I went over to Altura to open an account because I'd hears mostly good stuff. NOT TRUE. They sign me up & I put in only a small amount of money. They didn't order checks because I'd opened up with $25. They failed to tell me I needed a larger deposit to order checks. They also failed to tell me checks cost $28! I found this out today, 10/06/2020, AFTER I was put on hold for over 30 minutes on 10/05/2020 because the dummy (in the Philippines I think) couldn't give me a straight answer to my questions. I finally hung up on the call. I was so ticked off. The upshot of all this crap was I tried to do an online deposit. It was over $500. No one bothered to tell me it went over the amount they ALLOWED for new depositors. Crazy, huh? The conclusion: I can't undo the change from receiving money in my Wells Fargo account to Altura from the foreign government. It's time consuming and aggravating to have to do. The 2nd person I spoke with, where I got the truth (I hope) said she would waive the cost of the checks & just charg me shipping of $11+ Big whoopty dooh. I told her OK & I'll live with it for now. But it they mess up again, I'm going to go looking for a smaller bank somewhere. So frustrating. Can you imagine not wanting to take a $500 deposit? That's nuts. read more

I have always been happy with Altura... until this week. I am a stickler about checking my account when I pay a bill to make sure it has gone through. Once I see it in my account history I put a check mark on my calendar so that I I know it is reflected already in my account balance. I did this for several items over the course of the past couple weeks. I then had some deposits into the account as well. When I checked my account balance it was showing about 860 available yesterday morning so I paid a bit extra on my credit card bills. Then I checked my history later in the day to see if they were processing yet. -190?!?!?? How did this happen? The bank had taken the money and then given it back only to take it again later without notifying its members that there were issues with account balances showing up. This is an insane mistake for them to have made and worse the messages I got from them when I inquired were nonchalant, uncaring and selfishly written. I'm switching banks and I recommend you start and account with a more reliable business. read more

I'm so thankful I found Altura to give me a great deal on an auto loan and last minute. They were extremely helpful at Hemet. They noticed right away when the wait was getting long and someone came out to help out without seeing a sit down representative. When I came back the next week they answered all my questions even when I asked them multiple times just to be sure. They had a person in training go through the process with me so we were both newbies to the process, but someone was there with him to monitor him. I don't see this as a negative by the way. Never is there enough bankers on the floor to assist customers. The wait is always ridiculous. It all starts with management especially if you know your branch is always busy. We have been members since it was Riverside Schools Credit Union, about 49 years. We have tried every other bank in Hemet and the credit union has been the best. Yes, sometimes I wait on the phone for awhile, unless it involves fraud or lost atm card. Yes, sometimes I sit in the lobby for a bit, but they are taking care of people who came in before me. I take that wait time to relax a bit, play a game on my phone or read a book. Altura has not always done what I think is fair, like when I had my bank account gutted by the person who stole my identity and they dd not give me the money back (my bank in Hawaii gave me all the money back) or when my husband was using an schools first atm in a store and he stopped to say hi to a friend, the $500. came out and went back in before he could grab it. They denied responsibility. but in 49 years those are really small things. We are very satisified with Altura Credit Union. read more

Lines are long yes because it is the only location in town now, which is why I'm only giving 4 stars because living on the East end of town near the old altura on Yale makes it a long commute. But whenever I come in there I'm greeted politely, helped beyond my means, and am always taken care of. My debit card stopped working so I had to go to the branch. I dreaded it, banks usually take forever. Yesterday's visit was totally different. As soon as I walked in I was welcomed and before I could sign in I was asked what I needed. I said I needed a new card and I expected to wait. Best to do 'banking' (desposits/get cash) outdoors on ATM. If you must go inside to teller avoid lunch and thereafter. Avoid Fridays. Go to Staters & use Co-Op ATMS there. Although parking is decent, easy in & out in Lowe's plaza, this ONLY Altura in San Jacinto Valley is overwhelmed. No disrespect to staff, who are friendly, just be prepared to wait in lines unless timing good for tellers. read more

As a member since 2006, I can say this credit union is not what they used to be. Hidden fees, overdraft fees, courtesy pay fees, the list goes on.. They were a credit union when they initially opened, but since then they have grown substantially larger. Currently they operate almost identically to a bank. I was told one thing by a customer service rep, only to find out later that I was mislead. When I called in to customer service again they said can't help me, asked to speak with management and management said that there's no way I could have been misinformed because "everyone on our staff knows this is the way things work". Today was the last straw for myself personally; I will no longer be doing business with this company. read more

BEWARE............Someone stole my CC information from the bank (a teller) and the bank wants nothing to do with it. I went in on 6/3 and did a cash advance on my CC. Mind you I have not used this card for over 4 months. On the following Monday and Tuesday someone got the number and started charging up the card. I was alerted by fraud protection. I went into the branch to warn them but the branch Manager Irene S. was there but then the women went to the back and then came back out and said "oh the manager is not here" then proceeded to say I am sorry and I don't know how this could have happened.
