She was so condescending i hung up on her. " Can you even afford this car?" Wtf? I wanted to resolve this so i called back and by a miracle i got Noel!! She made my experience so much better that we set up arraignments to pay and i would love to continue our banking relationship! She spoke very clearly, listened and just made the whole experience great! Whereas before i felt attacked? Noel is the type of person to retain clients of Altura and is a great benefit to Altura! the customer service is very terrible . after i paid off my car loan, they never release the title. I have to call them couple times to finally get the pick slit, just as I thought everything is good but now i am trying to sell my car to trade for a bigger one, I was told altura never release the title , it was still under their name and I am still paying them interest? Even I have already got the title paper the car is actually not mine??? I was told I need the original notary line release now so I can move forward. I had struggle over this car for a month waiting to get things done and hope I can get it trade in but I cannot do anything now. Update: I got the call back from their title department. I am very unhappy that they cannot overnight the document when it was totally their problem. Need it urgently. :( It is like a nightmare. I got to see my favorite banker Carlos Borquez when I visited the University branch. He is always super friendly and knows exactly what he is doing! He takes his time to explain things to me and makes sure that I understand and is always so patient with me! He goes above and beyond for me when I need anything! This man definitely deserves a raise! He even invited me to their grand opening and I had a blast! I had a horrible customer service experience at this location yesterday. I walked in and there was an older gentleman at the front desk so I proceeded to the line, the older gentleman got in line behind me. There was a Latino teller, a man, who didn't even look to acknowledge me, in fact he looked behind me and called the older gentleman to the window to help him first. Which I found incredibly rude, he may have told him before I walked in that he'd help him, I don't know, but communication is key, had he simply communicated that to me it would have been no issue. "Ma'am, I already told this gentleman I'd help him but we will be with you in a moment." It was his lack of communication and customer service skills that really blew my mind. I've been having so many issues with Altura lately that this incident really makes me want to close my 20+ year account with them! read more

This credit Union sucks and unfortunately this review is to the whole organization and not just a location. 4 reasons why you should not bank here. 1. When me and my husband first joined he had a great credit score but lacked credit history. They said he could get one of their credit building cards that is prepaid and then they denied it to him. They do not help you with your credit. 2. The overdraft fees are ridiculous. Unfortunately one of our accounts fell short because of our budgeting (yes I know that's our fault) but this CU has no option for notifications letting you know about account balances to help with this. So instead of us being notified we were charged $29 over draft fees repeatedly. Which leads me to number 3. 3. The app absolutely sucks. When you open it it gives you a quick look at your accounts which says it includes all pending transactions and it definitely does not. The amounts shown there are completely wrong and were actually never right for us. With no notification options I'd give the app alone 0 stars. 4. Lastly the customer service phone hours are ridiculous. Monday through Friday business hours and a few hours on Saturday. Need help after hours? Too bad. Coming from Navy Federal Credit Union I can't believe how crappy this bank is. I recently pulled all of my money out of here and went back to Navy Fed and I suggest you find somewhere else to bank, as well. A great credit union takes care of their patrons by offering credit building options and actually giving them to you. They have 24 hour customer service hours where you get a live person on the phone to help you any time you call. Their app notifies you if your account falls below a certain preset amount and they have overdraft protection. Meaning they give you a certain amount you can overdraft to cover you just in case without charging you a fee. In Navy Federal's case it's a courtesy $500 that automatically gets repaid by your next direct deposit without ever charging you an overdraft fee. (And by the way, Altura offers overdraft protection but will still charge you the fee to use it). Please consider backing else where. read more

I had spent hours trying to upload a document that would verify the funds in my account, but my efforts were unsuccessful and it was almost the close of the business day. Without that data, my offer on a house would not be accepted. Mr. Emilio Arteaga, Jr. a Financial Sales Representative, approached me, smiled, and asked how he could help. He was calm, courteous and professional. I appreciated that he called on a colleague to help us figure out the problem, instead of leaving the situation unresolved. He did not leave until I had successfully uploaded the information that my mortgage lender needed, just before six o'clock, even though it was after hours. I also want to commend Ms. Karen Barrios, Branch Service Lead, at this University Ave branch, for assisting me and Mr. Arteaga in identifying the issues that that had confounded me during the day. I have been slowly moving my accounts away from Altura because of my dissatisfaction with them. I have been with Altura since they were March F CU, and then Vistera. I complained before about fees and moved my checking to get rid of fees like charges for money orders. I have been moving to Navy Federal because they don't charge for this service. They also will automatically transfer money from my savings to checking for any overdrafts. Altura charges $7.50 for this. Yet they are always telling me I am a valued customers. read more

I was banking at BBVA, PNC Bank took them over, victim of Fraud, $4050.00!!! Very upset, with PNC bank branch attitude and service and compassion level, and there backward policy to correct. I went to shop for a new bank, went to Altura, met with Alex B, who checked me in, was very kind and listen to me rant over what just happen, and she actualy looked as she genuine cared and felt bad for my recent experience with PNC , and she link me up with banker Emilo Artega Jr. who took care of the rest! Great customer service, the bank was ready to close, but he stayed over an hour after they closed to make sure that i was all taken care of! I needed to open up 4 accounts, he answered all my questions, spent all the time with me to answer all my concerns, open up all my new accounts, and even got me back in a good mood by making me laugh as I ranted about the other bank! Actually i met a few other folks there, don't have there names, every one was very welcoming, very helpful, even the security guard was great! I felt like a valued customer and I just met them today, which is more that what my last bank PNC did and i have been with that bank for 20 years. I am very happy to know I now have my new bank family! And it turned out they are having a refinance your vehicle special, great interest rate, I started that too! Hasn't even been 24 hours that i have been a member, and I already am being taken Great Care of! This is no credit union for the people. It never used to be this way. Customer service is extremely rude. They don't give you any credibility for having been a customer who's paid off 3 cars through them. It's very good to know who will stand by your side in a time a crisis. Altria credit union will throw you out to the wolves. After paying off my 4 car, I asked them for rates to purchase a car. Why did a guy who just opened up an account get a better rate then the loyal customer with absolutely no problems, no late payments, 20 years of on-time payments, why did the new guy get a better rate? When I had identity fraud, they treated me like dirt. It's like they didn't believe me. So I had to jump through hoops for them not only secure the account but to even retrieve my money when I supposed to be insured. Then, because of filing a chapter because of identity theft, and having signed reaffirmations with Altura, they let me hang in my time if need and basically spit on me and treated me like scum. Even knowing my filing would have no effect on them what so ever. The beauty of all this is that I'm pulling out this bank to another credit union where I'm treated fairly. They don't process anything until they feel like it for any deposits to hit your account. This is no credit union for the people, this is a credit union the greed. And the snobbery. Well, for a long time now this location has been shut down and non-operative. Also previously noted is that they left an ATM for people to use. With the closure has also brought transients at all hours to the location. And with that the location has gone downhill. The ATM smells like piss and there's trash all over the property as well. I have an auto loan with them, the guy called me and said I owed the full amount and that I was late. I told him that I paid it. He never told me that it was $11 short for some reason. I tried calling them for 2 days after work always putting me on hold and never got to talk to anyone. They reported to the credit agency lowered my credit score for just $11. I will post the picture. I called to see of they would be able to fix or take it off my credit . They pretty much said it was my fault and there was nothing I can do. I will refinance with another credit union. read more
