Locksmith storefronts are few and far between nowadays, so we were really happy to find Always Safe & Lock in Olympia. They have many services, but we were looking for someone to make duplicate sets of keys for our RV (Southwind motorhome). We made a lot of calls only to get answering machines, mobile locksmiths, and kiosk machines. None of these helped, so we drove to Always and were able to get our duplicates made on the spot. The locksmith who waited on us was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. He also warned us about some mobile locksmith bait-and-switch scams and how to avoid them (check their business license/permit). With no prompting or follow up on my part they showed up at my place in Shelton on the appointed day at the appointed time and fixed the problem within an hour. Prices were reasonable as well. I recently purchased a used Motorhome. The unit was in storage and was the target of a theft attempt. When I purchased the vehicle the steering column switch had been damaged and needed to be replaced. I made several unsuccessful attempts to get a locksmith on site to replace and rekey a new switch. When I contacted "Always Safe and Lock" they walked me through the process of removing the old lock cylinder. Then I took the new cylinder to their office to have it keyed. The explained to me how to replace the lock and I went home and got it installed with no issues. Great Service, will use them again if needed. read more

TERRIBLE, RUDE SERVICE!!!!!!. I called to see if I could come in to get a car key programed, and was assured I could get it done if I arrived before 2:00. Left work and came right away at 1:30. Outstanding service. I needed some keys duplicated for high-security specialty locks that were almost 40 years old. The original keys had started to wear out making the deadbolt locks more difficult to open. These guys are great. The are honest, genuine craftsmen at their trade and very very fair in their charges. I stopped in with a problem caused by a lock that I purchased in north Seattle. Those people may have been willing to back up their work but it is a four hour round trip and maybe two hours there. ALWAYS stepped up and saved my situation by picking and repairing the lock and even made a new back-up key. If your in Thurston county and need a locksmith try these guys. Sadly, I used to receive great service here. Recently I went in and the lady at the counter was very passive aggressive and strangely irritated that I would want to know prices on electronic keypads. She would not show me or talk to me about the product I was searching for. I figured it was just a random experience and brushed it off. I called later and set up an appointment for a home eval/quote instead. The day of my appt, the man called and said he was just leaving (i live 10 min away). He didnt show up for almost an hour which was odd. He then didnt get me a quote for nearly 3 weeks which was also odd as he called once or twice saying he'd get it to me soon (just putting in 2 electronic keypads, drilling 1 hole). I was in no rush so ok, that was fine. Then, the quote was for $2000 and there was no itemization. I could only laugh. I found another local business who did it for $150 after telling me to buy the keypads at a hardware store (about $100 ea). This used to be a great business, hope this is a temporary hiccup. They lost my business though. read more

I needed a lock picked that was on my trailer hitch since I lost the key. Came here since my company uses them and thought they would do the job quickly. They did not offer to come outside to see the lock, just told me I needed to come back when it wasn't raining since they would have to pick it a few times. I told them I was moving in a week and it was scheduled to be raining for over a week. They didn't seem to care. Maybe you should invest in a rain suit if you are going to be a locksmith in Washington. Not everyone has work to be done inside during the winter. The locksmith I went to, that wasn't afraid of the rain had the lock off in less than a minute. read more

Came here to get keys made. They are not friendly. But their keys are good. However, I wish they had asked me what I was getting they keys for and suggested that I get my backdoor rekeyed to be the same as my front door - we were buying so many keys that it would have been about the same. read more

It looks like I'm not the only one who was annoyed by this business not keeping appointments. A number of reviews with the same complaint so it seems like it must happen with some frequency. I visited the store and was told I needed to make an appointment. I made an appointment and drove back to town (about 40 minutes one way) only to discover that the technician who was trained to reprogram my keys was not in the office at the appointment time. Some guy who didn't know how to do it tried but was unable. I had to come back to the store for a THIRD time to have the rekeying done. At this point, the business didn't even offer an appointment time - they said MAYBE I could catch the technician in the office on such and such day during such and such hours - no guarantee. I managed to catch the technician by chance on the next try and he was able to get it rekeyed but what a hassled. I asked the business owner if I could get a discount for the inconvenience of coming in so many times. He said no discount but he wouldn't charge me extra for them attempting to rekey and but being unable to. What?! I'd definitely recommend trying some other place if you want your car rekeyed. read more

We were very impressed with the professional service that Julio Fonseca provided in installing a deadbolt in our garage. He arrived within the timeframe the company promised. He noticed that the doorframe was getting mushy and did additional drilling to anchor the deadbolt securely. He was methodical and precise. After the four hour window of when they said someone would arrive was nearly up, I called to ask and was told that since they couldn't find any paperwork for me, the technician probably had it and was on the way.
