She is one of the few skincare providers who not only devises a science-based, customized, long-term treatment plan, she keeps in contact with you between treatments, adjusts your prescribed products accordingly, and utilizes the latest technology in skincare (think Clear & Brilliant laser followed by a concoction of glutathione and vitamins infused into the skin, followed by micro needling). There is no provider in the Boston area, let alone in the Northeast, who is as diligent with continuing education (she's a national educator, herself), nor as innovative with her treatments. The ultimate outcome of creating a long-term relationship with Alexis is flawless skin, guaranteed. Take it from someone who spent upwards of $15,000 (!) on skincare prior, yet still couldn't fathom leaving my house without a full face of makeup. When I started asking for product recommendations from Alxs (she didn't push them on me!) and started ditching the random sephora s*** I was buying, that's when I started to see transformational long lasting glowwwww. Alexis is amazing!!! She is extremely knowledgeable on all things skin and skincare and truly wants to help. She will tell you what you NEED to hear to truly better your skin whether it's anti-aging, moisturizing, scar healing, etc. She is very well versed in the products she sells and recommends what your skin needs. I went to her for a SkinBetter peel that was a complimentary service she was offering with the SkinBetter products I was purchasing. She spent over an hour on my skin and it was truly glowing for about a week. She added in a few layers of product specifically for my dry skin and even did a separate hydrating mask. I asked her what she'd recommend for future treatment and she provided options as well as options to help moisturize my skin over the winter months. She sent me home with very full samples of a few products she wanted me to try and they truly have made a difference in my skin. I will 100% be going back in the new year for a micro needling apt to continue to better my skin. I cannot recommend Alexis enough. I give her ALL the stars in this review!! I came to her about a year ago as I was fed up with my skin (permanently red from years of acne and drying treatments that exacerbated my issues). When she asked me to describe my skin and why I was there, I burst into tears, which surprised the hell out of me. Alexis took it all in stride and was very calming and listened to me. She explained that my skin's current state was due to year of 'trauma.' She suggested three sessions of PRP Microneedling (the vampire facial) and then we would take it from there. Well my first session began and it was...awful. Not Alexis' fault as I just happen to be among the very small percentage of people who are more sensitive to the microneedling. She coached me through it and through breathing and tears, we completed the first session. She suggested preventative measures which I could take for the next two sessions and I followed her advice and while it was still uncomfortable, it was totally manageable. I have since been to Alexis a few more times for the WRKOUT. As others have mentioned, this is not a generic facial that you would receive at a spa. She tailors it to your needs and so it might vary depending on how your skin is doing on that particular day, what your goals are, etc. I love the new SkinBetter products she sells. Again, her recommendations will vary depending on your skin and how it reacts to certain ingredients and environmental factors. Alexis also puts a lot of her own time and money into conferences and trainings to learn about new techniques and products and I swear her brain is bigger every time I see her:) I was NEVER someone who would ever believe I would receive compliments on her skin, yet here I am. My family, friends and co-workers have all noticed a change for the better in my skin. A little over a year later and my skin is actually glowing and no longer irritated. I have to think that part of the reason for the compliments is because I am more confident and happy with myself and in the skin I was born to be in (prior to 10+ years of acne and Accutane, etc.). My consult appointment w her was very knowledgeable, I showed up w no make up on (because common sense, if u want her to look at your skin.. duh) I also brought all of my skin care products that I was using, and I laid them on her desk. Her space was clean and organized. She was very friendly and interested. She has a very good energy to her, you gotta meet her to notice. I have adult acne, dryness and lots of hyperpigmentation. She asked what I wanted for my skin and what I have done to reach those skin goals. She did not try to change what I had brought, but she was honest about some of the products I had and how they weren't providing my skin w any nutrition and recommended what she thought best for me. She did not try to force me to buy anything. I switched my SPF and moisturizer to what she recommend. A few months later while talking to her, she was honest about the brand she had me on, they were switching their formula and she thought it was best to switch me. I finally schedule my workout with her, and girl... STEP INTO MY OFFICE, I nearly cried in front of a stranger at the supermarket who complimented my skin on the day after. The day of my workout, she asked what I wanted to do and I legit told her I didn't know. She walked over looked at my skin and she did what was best. She explained what she was going to do, then explained the options she had for the hyperpigmentation for the next time I come, she went over every aspect from price to commitment to patience. She took her time w the workout. I asked her about everything she was doing and she patiently explained. She gave me a blanket and had a heating pad on the bed. Her music was so great. My skin in so clear and dewy. The products and the workout has shown noticeable change that I have never seen w everything else I tried before. I can't thank her enough, I wish she knew how much her work has helped w my self love and self esteem. Alexis is literally a skin goddess, she so knowledgeable on the her field. I came to Alexis with really bad acne and out of options; my first appointment was essentially just a therapy session with lots of tears. Within minutes of looking at my skin, she knew something was up internally either with my hormones or bacteria, so she was fully transparent in what she'd be able to accomplish externally but that I'd need to see someone about the internal issues. She referred me to Tim Latham (who is awesome btw) to sort out a game plan for the hormonal/intestinal issues. Alongside that, she came up with a process to work on heeling my skin on the outside and helping with the scarring. After every workout, I am always seriously blown away. I have never had my skin look so good from an esthetician in my life, and I've seen lots. She really takes the time to look at how your skin is doing that given day to personalize her routine for you. From the first appointment, she outlined what she'd like to do to my skin over time and each step has surpassed all of my expectations. All of my friends have noticed a massive improvement in my skin and I am more confident than ever because I'm no longer dealing with sporadic breakouts. I have been to Alexis a few times now, and after my last session I am definitely an addict. Alexis talked me into doing a microneedling session for my wedding, as well as changing up my at-home routine + products. It was definitely an investment but my skin has never looked this way - ever! I arrived at the address noted on my appointment confirmation to realize there was no signage at all indicated what floor/suite she was on. I called but no one answered. I looked online and realized she had two addresses listed (she still does at the time of this review), but luckily I showed up to the right one after getting someone on the phone. I wandered around the building for about 10 minutes before finding her in an unmarked room that was under construction. She told me to wait down the hall and I did. When she finally took me into the room, she didn't ask my name and asked me to lay down on her chair. She started putting gloves on and was about to begin numbing my skin for a microneedling procedure--I was only there for a consultation! After I told her this, she still didn't ask my name or introduce herself. The whole time she was completely distracted and talking about her construction issues in her space, ruining a friendship she has, etc.. Aside from the distractions, in my opinion, you shouldn't be doing a microneedling procedure that requires a nurse and blood/plasma draw in a room that's under construction. She did my "consultation", which consisted of her recommending a few products and 2-3 rounds of microneedling with PRP. She recommended products for me without even taking my makeup off to see my actual skin. She then applied a face mask and sheet mask (which I could buy online), and left me alone in the room for 15 MINUTES. Meanwhile, her nurse came in and out several times and finally updated me that Alexis was outside moving her car. When she returned, she removed my mask and asked me to wait in the hall again where she'd come out to finish my consultation. She came out 10 minutes later and apologized because she completely forgot I was waiting for her. She handed me a bag of products that she hadn't mentioned before cost hundreds of dollars (I usually buy fairly upscale products but it seems ridiculous not to mention the cost beforehand). I asked her how much the microneedling cost and she said $600!! I told her I would have to think about the procedure and products, and she mentioned she doesn't work with clients who don't use the products. Overall, a complete lack of communication and readiness made for an extremely uncomfortable experience. read more

Six months ago, I came to Alexis with severe acne scarring, hyper pigmentation, and reoccurring cystic acne. While my skin is not flawless (yet), it has improved exponentially since starting treatment with her. She is incredibly skilled, and you can tell that she invests a lot of her time and money into improving her craft. My skin has never looked better! I am in my late 20's, but I definitely think my skin now looks better than when I was 21. Not only that, I found a friend and a kindred spirit. She cares a lot about her client's skin health and emotional health. I get a mind, body, and soul experience whenever I go see her. Some things to note before you go: 1. There are no obvious signs for her office on the 6th floor - The sign in the lobby says the 6th floor is Personal Health MD, but ALXS SKN GYM and other businesses share the space with them. All the offices are organized like a labyrinth, but you will find her! :) 2. You have to see treatment with her as an investment in your skin. Be prepared to spend money on products and to purchase products after your consultation. For some of her procedures, she requires that you pre-treat your skin with her products before being able to proceed. Her products are great though! 3. Her website is a little vague on what treatments she offers, but you don't pay for specific services when you sign up for a facial with her - each facial is personalized to your skin at the moment of treatment. For those curious, I've had a whole myriad of treatments done: oxygen masks, sheet masks, ultrasonic, LED lights, microneedling, peels, etc It has been worth it. I feel way more confident in myself, more sure of my womanhood, and more allowing myself to engage in self care. This is thanks a lot to Alexis changing my skin. read more

No question about it: Alex R. has disrupted the facials industry. You will never have a treatment or experience like this. Let me explain. I was living in Hanover, NH (student) from September 2016 to June 2017. I saw Alexis 6 or 7 times during that period. As an aside, Hanover is a 2.5 hour drive (each way) to Boston. I had really bad issues with acne, dryness, dark spots, you name it. IAt my first treatment, Alexis went through all my products with me--informing me about each one (not telling me to do with them). She was accessible, KIND, honest, and real. Her knowledge and experience is immediately apparent when you talk to her about your problems. She even suggested my birth control could be causing my acne (lo and behold, it was). I felt reassured in a way I never have been before. The word "facial" does not adequately describe the treatment---using a combination of masks, products, tools, and machines, she went deep into my "skin workout". You are NOT relaxing during this treatment; there is a lot going on. Additionally, she is super realistic about what to expect after the treatment. I got both the microneedling and the standard facial--but after I got to know her more I would simply go into a treatment and she would use whatever she needed to depending on where my skin was (I never got PRP). I have bought a few products from her: --cleansers, retin-a, and foundations--and have been very happy with all of them. She told me how to use them and to be patient. It worked. After almost a year, my skin is glowing and completely clear, thanks to a combination of her suggestions, products, and treatments (as well as changing birth control methods). My entire family and friend circle has commented on my skin. I have now moved away from Hanover and I am missing her so much that I felt it was time to review her business because there are less than a handful of companies that strike this balance of accessibility, expertise, confidence, and results. I will note: this is not a place you walk in for a 60-minute facial you read about on the website and walk out with exactly what you expect to receive when you enter. The descriptions of the treatments are correct, but what you get is highly individualized. That being said, you are paying more for this kind of treatment. However, compared to how much money and time I spent on my skin with no results (in addition to the money saved from eliminating most of my previous products from my skin care routine), Alexis's treatments are hands-down worth every penny. read more
