so i stumbled by this storefront while walking my dog in the cemetery at an ungodly hour on a saturday morning last week. just a few days ago i walked by at a more normal hour and it was open. not only was the owner, reed, awesome, but he let me bring my lil pit bull in there. the merchandise is about half vintage, mostly women's clothes and jewelry with the other half silk screened t-shirts and hats etc.. good selection of things and the store feels really comfortable. i think this store will do really well! read more

oh man, way over due for a review! good stock is my favorite east bay boutique and possibly my favorite little shop in the bay area. if I could open up my own store (and believe me, I've considered it), I would definitely hope it could be half as amazing as this cozy gem. the first time I came in I practically had to catch my breath. half of the lines inside I had previously purchased (or considered purchasing) from shops in portland, LA, and as far away as brooklyn, NY. and here they all were, a mere 4 miles away from our apartment(!): + RGB chemical-free nail polish? check. + amazing brass bangles and earrings from dream collective? check. + OLO essential oils (my favorite fragrance line from portland) and the heavily sought after MCMC fragrance oils handmade in brooklyn? check! +clare vivier leather handbags? check. +voluspa candles in the elusive and hard to find warm tobacco scent? check! seriously, the goodies found in this adorable bungalow never fail to surpass my expectations and the owner is sweet as pie. she'll go out of her way to help you find just the perfect scent, piece of jewelry, pair of handmade leather ballet flats, and/or way too hip for your own good floppy fedora, etc. she's basically your own free, hella cool and down to earth personal stylist. not sure what else to say except that this shop is worth crossing the bridge for. come an hour before they close and enjoy a couple handcrafted libations at adesso (across the street) after, my idea of the perfect afternoon/evening! read more

I ignored this shop for a long time even though I walk by it every day. I thought, oh it's another one of those overpriced nondescript stores that sell jewelry, home stuff, and others... But, I was wrong! one day, I was taking a walk with my baby and I decided to walk in. I thought I wasn't going to buy anything but thought that my baby would like looking at the pretty glass items and shiny things. Well, I walked out with the most awesome and really unique rings! I get so many compliments on the rings. Now the store is one of our regular stops on our daily walk on the Avenue. On another visit, I found the perfect super sized bag I have been searching for months since my baby was born. This store is a treasure trove, I tell ya! it is a bit on the pricey side, but I consider it a worthy price for supporting local mom-and-pop shops.I wonder what I will find next at this place. :) read more

I realized on browsing here that I personally prefer to buy my beauty products online via Sephora, but if you prefer to see and test products in person, this place is for you! I was glad to be able to test a bunch of fragrances I've been curious about, from local wilderness perfumer Juniper Ridge to Brooklyn's MCMC, and will be back next time I can justify buying myself some more perfume or jewelry. read more

I love this store! Good Stock is a great place to get gifts for all my friends...they have something for everyone. I like their skin care and scent section a lot - all natural, all thoughtfully chosen, and very interesting. The jewelry section is awesome, well curated, with beautiful items in every price category. I'm a guy and sometimes have a hard time finding the right items for my woman friends, but the staff in the store is so helpful and patient that I have always ended up getting the perfect thing. A true gem. A unique treasure-trove of vintage glass bottles, unique up-cycled jewelry, beautifully articulated succulent terrariums, an amazing chandelier I am most certainly coveting. I imagine the stock changes periodically, so I will have to check back often. Perfect place to shop for a unique, artful gift or home accent. Something tantalizing tucked away in each nook of the tiny little store. It is on the "other" end of Piedmont Ave. (near the cemetary) but don't let that scare you away. Discovered Good Stock when heading to Mercy Vintage which is a couple of storefronts down the street on Piedmont Avenue. It is now my go-to place for gifts and just to look around and admire all the cool jewelry, accessories, skincare products, candles etc. Stock changes often so each time you go you'll see something new. I love this shop! They design all of their own things, and either make the garments themselves or have them made locally and responsibly. Their prices are crazy reasonable for such unique and well made items. They also have some vintage clothing, records, and jewelry for sale. The only bummer is that their hours are kindof irregular, but I'm sure that will be sorted out as soon as they start getting more people in there. read more
