They did a good job on waterproofing a difficult situation but it was super costly. I was impressed by the professionalism and ability but I was not prepared for what it cost me. Would I use them again? Yes I would but I would spend more time negotiating the price . They were very good about redoing a staircase that was messed up by their workers.... it was uneven so that was good that they admitted it was faulty however they charged me 21 thousand dollars for it and it still at the end was not totally perfect the way it had been done by our guy originally. All these companies are expensive and if you look around and get pricing from several sources you can negotiate a better price I think. I just did not have the time as water was coming into our house so it had to be done asap. If I had it to do over agin I would get a lot of quotes. One thing I would always do in the future is before buying a house I would have AMShield come and point out possible problems. I recently used AM shield to encapsulate a small crawlspace at my parents house which is very old. The crawlspace had very little access and an old window on the outside. The salesman who came was very helpful and extremely courteous. He informed me what would need to be done and gave an estimate right away . There was no pressure and I decided to go with AM shield and I'm not sorry that I did approximately three weeks later a crew showed up at my parents house . I have never seen three people work so hard in my entire life. They had to hand excavate the crawlspace by because of the limited access. Somehow they were able to complete the job despite the freezing cold temps, seal up the outside window level the dirt in the crawlspace, enlarge the opening from the basement and fully encapsulate . The workers who came to my parents house were hard-working,polite, respectful and definitely the kind of people you felt comfortable having around. During the three day construction process two supervisors came by and we received calls from the office to ensure we were happy with the job they were doing . When the job was done they cleaned up everything and while the job was going on, they were extremely careful not to mess up my parents house. I couldn't be happier with the job they did and I thought the price was fair. I would definitely use AM shield again and gladly recommend them to someone else. read more

I had an issue with a considerable amount of water getting into my basement, especially after the big rains in September of 2023, so I contacted several waterproofing companies. Without question, Joe from A.M. Shield was the kindest, most honest, understanding, and professional of everyone I spoke to. He clearly explained what my options were and was willing to work with me and adjust the job proposal until we found the perfect solution for both my problem and my budget. A.M. Shield came a few weeks later, excavated in front of my house, filling in the cracks they found in my foundation, sealing it with a Tegra-Tite membrane, and neatly restoring the flower beds to their original state (including replanting our shrubs). Fast forward nearly 5 months and several heavy storms and we haven't had a drop of water in our basement! As an additional testament to the integrity of the company, I discovered three months later that one of the valves for my sprinkler system was damaged by the excavation. A.M. If you want experienced, high-quality waterproofing for your home, AM Shield is 100% the way to go. Our home had numerous water issues in the basement and the inspector had recommended exterior waterproofing as a long term solution. I reached out to over a dozen companies and met with 6 different companies (some were literally scammers - pro tips: reverse Google image search companies' "portfolio" images; look at how many reviews their "5-star" reviewers have and see if they are fake; question everything they say - if the guy is super nice and propose a cheap solution that seems too good to be true, it probably is) and we got 6 different proposed solutions to our issues. Hugo the AM Shield owner came for our estimate and right away, you can tell he is highly experienced (here's Hugo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PCnaN16Ul4) - pinpointing areas of concerns and at the same time, recommended that we conduct a "leak test" first prior to starting anything which we agreed to. Two of his guys came and conducted a systematic test shooting water at different areas and looking with a thermal camera to try and root cause the problems. A.M. Shield was the only company that offered this "leak test" and I thought this was a highly logical step given water can literally come from anywhere. In one case, they managed to identify a giant old pipe connected to the outside that is leaking right behind our basement drywall! Based on the test results, the solution they proposed, and the fact that the work comes with 20 years warranty (for a company that's been around since 1993, that means a lot since you know they aren't one that will just close tomorrow), we proceeded with waterproofing the entire exterior of our basement for long term peace of mind. The work is not cheap (in fact they were the most expensive quote we got) but this is a project I want to do once and done right. Planning to live here 30 years and expecting a big storm every 5 years or so -- it's not like climate change will stop any time soon to lower the risk of water issues in future, if anything this type of work will be in even more demand in future -- so we decided it was worth this investment. Hugo's crew under the leadership of Santiago the foreman came promptly each day from 8 to 5 (sometimes even later), hard at work breaking ground, digging, waterproofing and more. My next door neighbors were all amazed by the crew's work ethic -- they worked fast, were thorough and super professional -- and one neighbor joked that there were literally 0 slacker in the crew. It was rather amazing each day to look out and see the progress they made, and the issues they found and fixed along the way. The last step of the project was putting back concrete and it looked beautiful, but the pitch was off in areas which had some water lingering. When I shared with Hugo, what I immensely respect is that Hugo came back with his foreman and crew, assessed the issue, and without me explicitly asking the next day proceeded to literally break up all of the concrete that had issue and redid the pitch which has been much better. My neighbor who is in the construction business was amazed they were willing to redo that amount of work and all I can think is what Hugo said once upon a time when he helped provide his opinions on another project that was going at the house: "Do the right thing". I Cant speak for their work, mainly because I didn't feel that they deserved it. I submitted an estimate request, No contact was made. I then called up. I had spoke with a woman, and she had asked what issues am I experiencing.. I explained that I don't know, that is the reason I am calling to get an inspection, to know if I have issues. If I knew my issues, I wouldn't have to get an inspection, I could just get it fixed. She explained that I didn't have to get snippy with her. If I was or wasn't, it wasn't an intention, just more of a banter, but im looking for professional guidance, and not understanding something, it would be nice to get an education prior.. "Thank you for your interest in our company. To get you set up with a proper specialist, what situation have you run into that had you interested in getting an inspection". (I've been in the sales/service industry for QUITE some time) I am not the foundation expert, I don't know what I'm looking for or how to identify issues. I highly recommend this company! Back in November had them cement one of the outter walls of my garage. With-in a few days I noticed the work was poorly done and called them about it. Didn't get anybody to come for awhile because of weather and then shut down due to covid 19. Finally got Hugo to come look who totally agreed that it was a poor job. In fact he sad it was embarrassing and reassured me they would come back to correct the situation. True to his word they came back and did a beautiful job. I finally have the chance to write this review. It has been coming for a long time but never got the chance until I realized how dry my basement was after going with a different company. AM Shield are a bunch of pushy sales guys that try to intimidate you to sign a contract with hefty cancellation fees. Additionally, they wanted 20k plus using very inexpensive materials. They are nothing but thieves as some of the others have commented on. I would not recommend this business. (BTW, I don't live in Livingston Manor, but in Long Island, NY). Stay away complete thieves!!! We had some water coming up from our basement floor and we are new homeowners thank God we got multiple estimates because Joe from a.m. shield was completely trying to steal from us and rip us off!! He wanted to charge us $2250 for one window well and was extremely pushy both while we were having the estimate conducted and even afterwards with several follow-up phone calls. When I spoke to three more waterproofing companies they all told me a window well only would cost $400!! We decided to go with the boccia because they stand behind their product and Rich who gave us an estimate was not pushy at all didn't try to sell us anything and even said we could do the work ourselves and not even have to pay him so I'd rather give my business to somebody who's honest. The salesman of the other estimates were completely shocked that Joe try to charge us $2250 for a single window well. And all of the reviews on Google are fake. They just finished the job for me yesterday, which was to waterproof the walls of my garage which is sunk in to the ground below my house. It took 4 days from the original estimate of 3. I have to say I am very happy with the work. To start with, their salesman named George was a nice older guy who has worked for them for years. He gave me the lowest quote out of 5. One other contractor never even bothered to get back to me with a quote, which happens all too often. Don't they need the work? Anyway, I usually don't go with the lowest quote, but I could find no major issues with them either with BBB or any other ratings websites. So why pay more? Took only a couple weeks to schedule after putting down my 10% deposit, which was nice. A team of 3 guys showed up a little after 8:30, which was the norm everyday. I think there were 4 guys the other days. Jorge was the team leader and seemingly was the only one who spoke good english. Nice guy also but didn't talk too much. They dug out one side the first day. The next day, I asked Jorge once they got there if there were any problems and he said no. But later in the day at work George called me and said that after Jorge dug out the other side that he was seeing a lot of holes in the walls and that they needed to put a whole layer of cement on both sides, which would take an extra day and George needed to charge me $1000 extra. I questioned this "extra" work, as the contract stipulated that cracks would be patched up before the waterproofing membranes would be placed on. George said that's right, just "cracks" would be patched, not holes. What??? To him, there was a difference between cracks and holes? Of course there were going to be holes; that's why water was getting in! Now I was afraid that they might find "recesses", or "indentations", or "fissures" or any other words you can think of describing anything except cracks. But I said to go ahead with it as I figured it would be a nice additional layer of protection and what could I say anyway? But it did bother me that Jorge told me everything was fine in the morning, when he already opened up one side. So I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I was just hoping this wasn't going to be a "pattern" of phone calls in the next couple of days with more "surprises". Anyway, now it was going to be 4 instead of 3 days. I saw that they were constantly working, so I had no complaints. In the end, they refilled the ditches they dug with the original dirt and made sure to stamp it down hard with a couple of pieces of machinery. They also replaced my sprinklers(which I should have tested) and a small tree they moved. I was truly impressed at how well they cleaned up, even raking the grass and cleaning my garage which they did some work in. They were really thorough! In summary, besides the surprise extra charge, I had a completely pleasant experience. Supposedly I got a 10 year warranty on the work. We had a flooding issue in our backyard after our next door neighbor removed all their grass and trees to place pavers down. Every thunderstorm we spent desperately bailing water out of our basement window well to prevent it from flooding the basement, which it had done a couple times. We contacted AM Shield, who came out to give us an estimate. Although another company had commented to us that they were expensive, I think you get what you pay for. This group knows what they are doing. The salesman George came out and knew immediately where our issue was without us needing to tell him; they had worked on our kind of house before. They needed to dig a trench around the backyard and run it out to the street. He wrote up an estimate and fit us in about 3 weeks later (we were at the peak of summer, so that wasn't a surprise). They estimated 2 days for the work to be completed. When the workers came (Santo was in charge of the work crew and was excellent), they started digging the trench and so quickly! It even started to downpour in the afternoon and the workers continued to dig between the downpours! Great workers. The foreman came out and consulted with Hugo, who insisted we have additional drainage done around the window well. They seemed very concerned with doing the right job, even though it would take extra manpower. We eventually came to an agreement on the extra work and we are very glad we did. They were able to complete the job in the promised 2 days, even with the rain and extra work. We have had a few major thunderstorms (flash flood types) since the work has been done and have not had an issue yet with flooding. We can see the area draining quickly to the street and now we can rest well at night when those thunderstorms wake us up! This company did a great job in delivering on what they promised. Very professional, reasonable pricing, fast predictable execution. They did some waterproofing work on the exterior foundation of our Brooklyn townhouse . The work had to occur in our neighbor's yard (who was nervous and apprehensive). These guys worked quickly, efficiently and thoroughly - and were unbelievably respectful of our neighbor - restoring their yard to a condition that was BETTER than before the work commenced. The neighbor even asked for their sales number in a desire to hire them for some work on their house. The waterproofing itself was extremely thorough - foundation brick was brushed completely, stucco applied, then a thick tar layer, then a very durable rubber waterproofing membrane sealed at the top with a metal channel. It is so rare to find a contractor who knows what they are doing, is licensed and insured, works hard to come up with a plan addressing your waterproofing issues, without trying to sell you something you don't need, is very pleasant to deal with, and cares about his customer and his reputation as much as he cares about his own family. Waterproofing is perhaps the most difficult problem to address in your house. Do yourself a favor, get a few estimates, educate yourself as to what is involved but hire this company. Two of my dry wells where damaged by Superstorm Sandy. I didn't notice any problems until 9 months later. Their salesman came out and surveyed the project. Once we agreed to the project, I had an estimate shortly thereafter. The work was scheduled promptly.
