Spicy King Salmon Hand Roll, Sashimi Dinner a la Carte

BEST sushi! Legit made rice and fresh fish. Ordered delivery; but if they sushi looked this good - I imagine the onsite location is superb. Prompt service and packaging was perfection. Don't want to lose this place to the Asian mixtapes that seem to overwhelm Danbury. Hope they offer omakase menu!

A little short staffed but the food is incredible so we'll be back. Smaller portions but very high quality.

Small sushi place, but the quality of Fish is 10 star. I drive 2 hours to NYC for sushi as I don't really eat around here but today one of my friend recommended this place and I am really impressed from the quality fish they serve here. Clean place, sushi can be pricy here but hey it is what it is. I highly recommend this place for sushi . We will be back again. Nice job

Gold found in Brookfield, CT. I've been a sushi connoisseur since the 80's. I'm not bragging, but I've had sushi around the world. One of my favorite places to get sushi is Sushi Yasuda in Manhattan. I never thought I would find anything that rivaled the quality of their fish and devotion to tradition, let alone find it in Lil old Brookfield, Connecticut. It's a little unassuming storefront located by the four corners in Brookfield. My concern is that other sushi restaurants have popped up close by. I've been to all three locations and the contrast is dramatic. While the other locations may have modern designs, etc There is no comparison with the quality of the food. For the same reason, you wouldn't compare fine dining to a family restaurant. I wouldn't compare any other sushi restaurant in the area to Amai. Please try this restaurant. You won't be disappointed!

We ordered from here with Uber Eats. It arrived quick which was good. The portions were small for the price point. The tuna looked old, so we didn't eat it. The Shrimp Tempura roll and Spicy Kani Salad were good. If you order here, that's what I would suggest ordering.

Amai has some really, really good sushi. We were legitimately impressed, especially given how mediocre sushi is in this area generally. The prices are a little on the high side, even for sushi at this level, but at least you know you're paying for quality. We went on a weekday so it wasn't busy and got friendly, attentive service. Nothing in the area we've tried touches this place. I hope the locals embrace and support it. Highly recommend.

    Spicy Girl Roll

The sushi here is absolutely incredible, the freshest sushi I have had in the area! You need to try the Gyoza ( steamed), The Spicy Girl Roll, The American Dream Roll, completely melted in your mouth. We tried the Chirashi(12pcs) sashimi entree and every piece of fish selected was divine, my favorite being the king salmon. Definitely save some room to try some O- Toro Nigiri and the King crab to die for ! I will be coming back here for sure ! Pictured above is the Spicy Girl roll( inside spicy salmon, yellowtail and avocado topped with spicy tuna) and Blue Fin Tuna Nigiri

First a little context. I'm a big fan of Omakase. I expect it to be delicious, I expect it to be pricy, and I expect it to be expertly prepared. Typically to get decent Omakase I travel to Greenwich or to New York City. Recently it was brought to my attention that a nearby restaurant in Danbury/Brookfield serves good Omakase. I was skeptical. Nevertheless I jumped in my car and drove over there for lunch. My first impression was that I might be at risk. It is a typical strip mall style space, relatively small, and the Omakase bar only seats four - the remainder is table seating . It is not grandly appointed like some of the Greenwich places are. The miso soup was perfectly fine however it was very standard for what you might expect at any local Japanese place. Then came the Omakase. Guess what? It was expertly prepared and quite delicious. There was a very nice variety of quality fish. I have appended pictures so that you can get an idea of the presentation. And to top it off, while not inexpensive, it was appropriately priced. So all I can say is if you're a fan of Omakase and you're frustrated that it's hard to get in the local area, you now have an option that will save you the drive to Westport, Greenwich or New York City. And save you some $ as well. Final note, the service was attentive, my tea was kept topped up throughout the meal, and the sushi chef was a pleasure to watch work and told me what each piece was as he presented them.

I really wanted to like this place since we are in desperate need of a great sushi place here. But... We ordered take out perhaps that was the issue. They forgot half our order and we had to return to the restaurant to grab the rest. Spring roll app basic Cod app $22!!! For 2 bite size skewers. Very good but not for the price. Wish I took a pic. Poke bowl and Dream roll wreaked of fish. No one went there, except for husband. Miso soup average but tofu tasted funny too. Generous portion of pork in the Bao but soaking wet. Chicken Bento came with thigh meat, rice salad and 2 pieces of veges. Not impressed at all. The $15 PINT of soup consisted of a miso Broth, 2 shrimp, a scallop and 2 asparagus stems cut small. Again maybe take out wasn't the right road to take. Disappointed!!

Delicious food, good service and relaxing atmosphere. The ramen is fantastic, definitely a hidden gem of Brookfield.

If you're looking for some of the best and fresh sushi, don't look any further! This is the spot you're looking for! It's so fresh it might as well come from the shores of Japan and you have a Nissan skyline parked out front of the sushi house. The service was top notch. The lady server was so kind and friendly I can't wait to come back. I wish I lived closer! Also their chop sticks are great quality!

This place is an absolute must try. There is not one dish that we ordered that is not exceptional. We ordered additional crispy rice pieces because they are just so good. Also, is is not just fresh fish, this is a true chef owned place.

Food was good, but not spectacular. Service was efficient and friendly. Good location, close to the Brookfield Craft Center.

Meh... average AT BEST. I'm here for work and thought I'd give this place a shot. I walk into the…read morerestaurant and it is very, very dark. I was seated immediately. The server asked about drinks, nice. There was a large menu and a single sheet menu provided. As I struggled to read the single sheet, it mentions there is a sushi roll special Monday and Tuesday nights, half price. Nice. The regular prices, listed both in the single sheet and the larger, book menu are very, very high (I presume they don't sell many rolls outside of this "special"). Ordered shumai, a spicy tuna roll, a slicy crabmeat roll, and a pepper tuna roll. The app arrived within 5 minutes -so frozen and reheated. The 5 piece order was average. Not great. Tasted like Costco almost. The sushi arrived about 4 minutes later. The restaurant was somewhat crowded, about 10 of the 12 tables were full. The rolls didn't taste fresh. Not a great playing of the food. It felt like a mid-country sushi spot, not warranting the $30. That's just me. And. I, I will not return. If I went on a non-half-price evening - I'd have been angry. Just average at best. Make sure you have glasses and a light, the "ambiance" is crazy dark. Tables seem very close (I overheard, or was part of) a couples' argument on how the husband wasn't supportive of his wife. Just another night in Danbury, I suppose?!

Our family time was fun. The food and service was HORRIBLE!!! The Hibachi chef purposely gave me…read more(the Black lady) the smallest amount of food. He had NO idea I would pick up the tab & involuntarily gave him. $77 tip. Lesson? Stop judging people...bias.
