Meh... average AT BEST. I'm here for work and thought I'd give this place a shot. I walk into the restaurant and it is very, very dark. I was seated immediately. The server asked about drinks, nice. There was a large menu and a single sheet menu provided. As I struggled to read the single sheet, it mentions there is a sushi roll special Monday and Tuesday nights, half price. Nice. The regular prices, listed both in the single sheet and the larger, book menu are very, very high (I presume they don't sell many rolls outside of this "special"). Ordered shumai, a spicy tuna roll, a slicy crabmeat roll, and a pepper tuna roll. The app arrived within 5 minutes -so frozen and reheated. The 5 piece order was average. Not great. Tasted like Costco almost. The sushi arrived about 4 minutes later. The restaurant was somewhat crowded, about 10 of the 12 tables were full. The rolls didn't taste fresh. Not a great playing of the food. It felt like a mid-country sushi spot, not warranting the $30. That's just me. And. I, I will not return. If I went on a non-half-price evening - I'd have been angry. Just average at best. Make sure you have glasses and a light, the "ambiance" is crazy dark. Tables seem very close (I overheard, or was part of) a couples' argument on how the husband wasn't supportive of his wife. Just another night in Danbury, I suppose?! read more

Our family time was fun. The food and service was HORRIBLE!!! The Hibachi chef purposely gave me (the Black lady) the smallest amount of food. He had NO idea I would pick up the tab & involuntarily gave him. $77 tip. Lesson? Stop judging people...bias. read more

I knew I should've avoided this place when I saw 50% off rolls but it was a Sunday night, we were craving sushi and this place was 5 mins from our house. Overall, it was okay but a couple things caused me to give Ichiro a 1 star review. 1st scam - 50% rolls on Monday/Tuesday is to get rid of their old sushi/fish. 2nd scam - they inflate the suggested tip, preying on people who are too lazy to calculate their own tip. If you want good sushi, I recommend Kumo in New Milford. read more

Food and service here is always good (probably why we keep coming back). The space is large with plenty of hibatchi tables as well as dining room. Recommend! I often crave sushi because the skilled chef's create a delectable paring . What's on the menu is NOT always what's on the inside of the roll . I often ask to keep the menu so I can match what was ordered to what's on the platters. Yesterday , Saturday I decided to head out to this restaurant and as always ; my guest and I ordered 8 rolls ; order 3 rolls and get one free , order 6 rolls and get 2 free . We went with the lateral , all came on 3 large platters - some came with 8 pieces and others came with 10 pieces . Overall the detail of the rolls were all mismatched and have I had my chef's tweezers - I would have pulled the sushi apart and tried to match it to the menu item . I can guarantee you - it was NOT 100% matched to the menu item . Overall they did taste ok - but I would of like to taste more vinegars in the bland rice , the tuna sushi was low grade , I expected a little more pink and NOT a black tuna. which is a cheaper grade tuna . Sockublock tuna is definitely not their main ingredient . I wished I knew where they sourced their seafood as some of their Seafood I does not agree with my health conditions . No reflection of quality here it's just not something I can indulge in personally . The Kani crab salad was ok , I could taste the crab but the dressing was lacking - needed acidity to lifting the flavor profile and highlight the intended protein of the plate . Price was ok at 7.95 per . Portioning 6 ounces was adequate and suitable for the price . The angry dragon roll was good , The presentation was mediocre since they were slammed Saturday night with their hibachi and sushi table were all occupied . After ordering our food it was delivered and explained after the waiter/ess left we did not see them the rest of the night . We had to ask the owners for the check at the end of our dining experience. The ambiance needs refreshing and the carpeting needs replacing . Not sure why they went with carpeting for a front entrance - I'm sure the red represent power and energy in Japan - but the carpeting needs replacing . I'd give the place 3 stars but because waiters disappeared , the carpeting needs refreshing and keep the menu to match up with what was ordered is necessary . Some items from the rolls were missing . Very noisy and baby's crying along with large parties made it tough to converse . I do frequent this establishment and look forward to matching up the menu to what was ordered on a much slower night on my next visit . I am NOT a licensed Sushi Chef - however I am a member of the American Culinary Association of Connecticut , lifetime Member of The World Association Of Cooks Society and Inducted into the Le Emis Escoffier. Licensed Sushi Chef's are a requirement to recognize raw Sushi that may contain dangerous levels of toxins that are NOT suitable for consumption. We went there today thought would get a free kid hibachi as they advertise on the website. However they told us no more that promotion and charged us $20 for the kid's meal. Meat portion has dropped a lot since we came last time back in March. Plus they are charging $3 more if you order fried rice without telling you when you ordered. Pre-added 18% tips for two adults and one toddler. Spent $108 total for 3 of us. Don't think would ever go back. read more

This is a stand alone place. I'm just a visitor in this town but I'm wildly disappointed. The soup that came with salad wasn't really my favorite. Salad is generic. Danbury roll was supposed to be a combination of spicy tuna and salmon but it was very bland. Even wasabi was too mild, I was not able to get my head around what is it mean "spicy". I didn't think their hibachi was good and $126 later totally not worth it. The steak was nicely cooked but lacked good flavor like I've had at these places before. The rice didn't seem sushi grade because it wasn't sticky and there was no yum yum sauce (a fav of mine) so I was just disappointed. read more

The chef splashed hot oil off of the grill onto my arm during the "show" when cooking in front of us all. I ordered medium well steak and another person ordered medium steak at our table. He cooked it to medium and served us at the same time. I mentioned to him that I ordered mine medium well but he said he had already put it on my plate that I had eaten off of already and that it couldn't go back on the grill. My answer was to cook more steak to medium well temperature as I had originally ordered. He declined to grill more. I should have just left..I won't return to that restaurant. read more

Came in with my big family and took over the whole back room. I ordered only sushi and is reviewing for my service and food only. The service staff was attentive for the amount of heads we had. But the sushi I ordered was just okay. It was actually quite bland. I like the creaminess from the cream cheese, but somehow the other flavors didn't pop. Also, I got my order last, and it was sushi. By the time I got my food, the hibachi chef was already making his last order for the kids. I guess what I liked about this place was the half off sushi lol. I think all the rolls were half off. The sushi was really amazing here. Haven't had it in awhile so I'm glad it tasted amazing. We had an issue with the check which I didn't realize. They automatically charge you an 18% gratuity so keep that in mind when you order here. They also don't do free refills which we did not know till the check came. Keep it in mind when you come for the sushi. The food was really good so it's worth a return trip. Highly recommend the power roll. Tasted amazing. read more

Hibachi time!!!! So glad to get back to a little taste of normal fun. Far from the normal scene but I have to say they went above and beyond with protection and cleanliness, I am very impressed! We try and go to Icharo at least once a year. The food has been consistently good for the past 15 years. It is always a treat to watch the Hibachi chefs perform right in front of your eyes, the show never gets old. The only disappointing part.of our last meal was when it came time for dessert. We usually go for birthday celebrations and they come out and sing while playing a gong and deliver fried ice cream. This year they came with a scoop of ice cream in a small dish. Not a big deal but a disappointment. At least their mushroom soup is amazing. read more

This place is just not worth it. Within the first 3 minutes of sitting down we were approached by 5 different waitresses asking if we were ready to order, which we kindly responded: "not yet." My sister and I decided to share four or five such rolls and I am not a huge fan of spicy mayo. I tried asking one of the waitresses if it were possible to put it on only half the rolls to which she rolled her eyes, and walked away shaking her head. I promptly spoke to the manager and informed her that the waitress was rude and asked the original question to her. She told us this was fine. Another waitress came shortly after and took our order. I asked her to put the sauce on half, to which she replied "we can't do that, " and rolled her eyes. I told her that the manager said it was fine and she then said "OK" and walked away. The sushi then came out completely wrong, with half having no toppings at all and the other rolls with barely and salmon at all. To top it all off, we later realized the manager never asked for us to point out the waitress that had been rude, and failed to speak to any of them about the incident or take any measures to remedy the situation. I have been to this place many times, and sadly never received even decent service. It's a shame, you just lost two customers. read more

My family and I have been going to this Ichiro location for hibachi many years to celebrate birthday's. I've noticed little changes like the tails of the shrimp are no longer left on, I liked eating them crispy. But on my most recent visit last week I noticed that they're not using chicken breast anymore, but rather chicken tenderloins, which are less expensive than breasts and require little to no butchering. Yet the prices are up. That alone is a huge mistake I believe others will notice and remark on as well. Next time I'll order something from the sushi bar. read more
