I made a first time purchase from Amain.com on November 10, 2019. I purchased a item that the website clearly had and currently has INSTOCK noted on the website. Let me add that this item was a $429.00 item with a shipping cost of $157.99 so basically I had $600.00 into this transaction as a new customer. A full 7 days passed and I was becoming somewhat concerned. I just had a bad feeling about it so I sent 2 messages inquiring about the status of the order via their website. Those requests was never answered. The next day I decided to call Amain for a update and some direction on the order, I sat on hold for 20 minutes then the line goes dead. I then notice the chat box on the website so I am running out of options for simple contact with Amain.com. I used the chat box to try to communicate that way. I was connected with someone by the name of ERIC and I simply asked about the order. ERIC was very slow to respond. I found myself on this chat for nearly 30 minutes with no answers at all to my inquiry. ERIC would literally type a couple of words then vanish for 10 minutes.. it was terrible customer service. ERIC then begins to tell me that "they (Amain) was waiting on the item to come in".. to my surprise I said "wow.. the website said and still says that the item was instock" ERIC after more pauses and delays finally says that they have 2 warehouses and the item was in stock at one but not the other... (?) That made absolutely no sense to me. Either the item is instock like the website falsely says or its not in stock.. as a customer why does a warehouse matter to me? You have something listed as instock then that creates more people buying the item because it is "instock and ready to ship" right? Well, ERIC was not overly friendly, he had no true answer to the problem, barely spoke in the chat, was not sympathetic to a customer left waiting on a item that they do not even have and just didn't really care and should not be in any customer service position at all. After sitting on this so called chat for over 30 minutes with this kid ERIC I had had enough.. He didn't make any sense and didn't seem to care one way or the other. No customer should have to reach out to a company 4 times in 2 days while using 3 different methods to get a $600.00 order update of some kind. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I would NOT spend a penny at AMAIN.COM. They lie on their website about items being in stock, they are nearly impossible to contact and their employees are lousy at customer service. I order a lot online every single year and I mean A LOT. I spend thousands of dollars a year on my hobby alone. I have experienced good service and AMAIN.COM had a fair chance and completely blew it in every direction. Do NOT spend your money with AMAIN.COM whether it be at their store in California or online. Take your money to a hobby shop that appreciates your business and bends over backwards to deliver good customer service. Never again will I order from AMAIN.COM and unfortunately for AMAIN I am a active member of several online hobby forums where we share knowledge. I do not just share good customer service with the internet but I also share horrible customer service and spread it to anyone and everyone to save them from dealing with a company that does not appreciate their customers. Hobby shops online are a dime a dozen and there are good ones out there but NOT AMAIN.COM. I told ERIC to Cancel the order and he happily did with out another word said... he had said so little to begin with I was not a bit surprised. read more

I ordered a remote control boat from this company because it said it was ready to go out of the box. It wasn't and the batteries listed as accessories were incorrect (I thought I was ordering extra since they said the batteries were included) I was even told by a customer service rep it was a misrepresentation on their part. When I asked about returning it they were great and said I would be refunded for my entire order. However they charged me almost $100 to "restock" it; no one I talked to (three different people) mentioned a restocking fee and the email I received said I would be refunded. When I called back the fourth person I talked to said it was my fault for using their website to place the order. Beware of ordering anything from them. read more

Very disappointed with Amain. I've been spending several thousand dollars a year for several years at this store with varying results but usually helpful and friendly. I've had an issue with a $300 dollar boat that would only get 15 yards before disconnecting. The boat crashed due to disconnecting; breaking both the prop and shaft. I was honest, and told them about a small crack in the canopy that I had caused prior to the crash, and was told it could not be exchanged for a fully operable boat. I've spent at least 10k here over the years and the staff knows me when I walk in, so you can understand my disappointment. I wasn't even there to exchange, I only wanted to do that because they didn't have the parts to repair it. So much for spending your money in your home town, tower hobbies get ready for some more profit. read more

This is a great place to buy all things rc. There prices are cheaper than most places and all the things I have ever bought rc it's been here. Most of the time I end up getting it shiped 2 days before eta. My favorite part is the customer service. I recently had my traxxas 3s lipo that I bought from Amain start getting puffy and big, so I emailed the people at support and a day later I got a reply that said that another battery is on the way for free. If you have any interest in rc planes, helicopters,drones, boats, and cars this is the best place to buy them. I have bought all of my stuff here and I plan to buy more here. read more

The other problem with AMain I forgot to mention is that when they are wrong,and they know it,they always seem to go into a Huddle and will give you a lot of excuses! Like it's too windy to test the Helicopter! They have more excuses than a Politician and the responsibility of a Teen Ager! They will take no responsibility for their mistakes, and will always try and fault the Customer! Thank GOD that I never, ever used my Credit Card which they so often requested. YOUR BEST BET IS TO ALWAYS USE PAYPAL WHEN YOU FEEL DESPERATE ENOUGH TO DEAL WITH THEM! If there was a way to give them a score of less than ZERO,I would stick it to them! On Tuesday, July 3, I received a freshly built T-Rex 450L, and I sent along the ESC that AMain claimed was bad, although it was brand new with the 1st Kit! The Distributor examined and tested it, only t find that there was nothing at all wrong with it and that all AMain wanted to do was sell unnecessary part's to gain a Commission! I will "Never spend another Dime" with them. I will have the other T-Rex 450L torn apart and rebuilt by the Distributor who has all of the necessary tool's,expertise, and knowhow! An R/C Helicopter is no joke when you build them the wrong way! They remind of a Mechanics' Shop where they don't have much to do until a Customer comes along and they claim that things are broken that never were! All I have to say now is that I consider them to be, "SHADE TREE HELICOPTER BUILDER'S!" They build it, but you fly at your own risk after they are done with it! read more

AMain has become everything they said they never would. They no longer care about the customer or their employees, instead just concerned with the bottom line. I used to call and be able to talk to Gregor or Adam and I always knew that they would do whatever they could to help me out. Well those guys are gone now and I either get a guy I can't understand or a girl who knows absolutely nothing about RC. If I need tech support, the girls tell me that Gram will have to call me back which sometimes he does and sometimes he doesn't. I also used to talk to the manager Lief for tech help but guess what? He's gone now too. I now give all my business to Tower because they have better prices, better coupons and now have better service. Wake up AMain, the people you dumped were the best you had and now you seem to employ nothing but idiots with empty promises! read more

I have been a customer for 2 years of A Main Hobbies and I would say the best thing about them is their obligation free pre-orders and their easy to get in contact with customer service. Amain hobbies is great. I ordered the hpi truggy I was looking at. They have the better of the prices online. Shipped to me very quickly no extra charges. And when I had an issue with servo they solved my problem very quickly. I appreciated the quick response. I wish I would have gotten the young man's name on my order as would have left his name for everyone to see. I Will order again from them again in the future. read more

Me and my friends' 8-year old son headed in here the other day. This place is a remote controlled paradise! I was way into this stuff when I was a kid. It was fun to revisit it with him. The problem is, A Main doesn't house the hobbies that come cheap. You want to get into remote controlled cars and helicopters, and I mean the ones that don't break in 2 hours, you gotta have money with you. We got him a remote controlled helicopter, and so far he hasn't stopped learning how to pilot the thing. Very cool. Oh yeah, the people there were very nice too. Talked directly with my friends' son, who can hold a serious conversation. That's what got me to buy the helicopter was the attitude of the staff there. read more

I was looking for a lower end racing bike. I bought a Kestrel Legend SL from amaincycling.com. The price was great. A few days after placing the order Mike from amaincycling called me. He told me he'd just finished building my bike, walked me through everything he'd done and what I'd have to do when I received it. He answered my questions and told me to call if I had any other questions when it arrived. The bike arrived on time and in perfect condition. The picture and description on the website were exactly what I received. It went together smoothly and has been great. My shopping experience from amaincycling was one of the best I've experienced. This place is the worst hobby shop ever.It says the have stuff in stock but sometimes they don't.You have to pay for shipping and the dates that they give you are not accurate.When you call them you can be on hold for a long time or it is hard to understand them.Then they just keep on adding on weeks I would not go to there shop or order online.I would go to riders hobby shop or tower hobbies or order online for tower hobbies. read more

I just purchased a $530 RC car from the AMain Website, along with several accessories. It arrived today and was clearly assembled poorly. A connector is broken, a wire stripped, and the main drive shaft broke within 10 minutes of light use. A responsible retailer would replace a defective item, but not AMain! We are expected to take it up with the manufacturer. That is bad business. read more

Only 1 star because there is no 0. Amain is great to shop at if you are online, and do not plan on returning anything. I had to return an IKon Flybarless unit, and have had nothing but delays and hassles. When i first realized I had a problem with my unit, I emailed Amain and MSHeli. I received a reply from MSHeli within 12 hrs, directing me to return it to AMain. I had to call AMain the following day because i had no reply. They told me I would have to wait for them to hear back from their supplier. Days went by, I called again, and they were still waiting. I notified MSHeli of the issue with AMain and they said send it back to MSHeli and we will take care of it. The same morning I heard back from MSHeli about shipping the unit back to Italy, i received approval to ship it back to AMain. Due to cost and shipping time, i sent it to amain. Where, I received an email advising they needed everything that came in the box before they could process the return, and I would have to ship all the wires, and connectors which were not part of the problem to them in order to get a replacement unit. If they need the wires sooo bad, take them out of the new box.. I'm over this place. Customer Service stops at the sale. I too have spent far tooo much $$$ here to be treated like this. read more

I have had a terrible experience with amain hobbies. I purchased quite a few things for my boyfriend around Christmas time and never received part of my order because it was back ordered forever. I attempted to reach out to the company to get my funds back and they refused to help me. So then I went to my bank and filed a claim for products not received. The bank refused my charge back and stated the merchant would be taking care of it. So then I log into my amain account and confirm that there is a store credit sitting on my account in the amount of the order I did not receive. By this point, it is April and everything was ordered in November. Now its May, and I'm trying to use my store credit and when I go to check out it says that my account has been frozen and I owe them over $220. I reached out to amain through phone and email and explained my story and my disappointment and they claim I was refunded the full anout of my order, which I was not. So now, I paid $400 to receive half of my products and to be able to use the $200 that is owed to me I have to pay them $220. I spoke to two different managers, and did a conference call with my bank and amain where my bank confirmed my story and I did not receive any funds. They still refused to help me. I will never conduct business with amain ever again and I strongly encourage all of you to never use them as well unless you like to be robbed and everything you want to be back ordered!! read more

Love this place, its an adult toy store. Love the selection of cars and helicopters, planes etc. I have had the same issue as many of the reviewers. Customer service or lack of it. My last 8 trips into the store I have been offered help twice, each time by one of the girls working there. When you are looking for a part it is ok to help your customer! Mostly the staff has not been present or busy talking among themselves. My wife went in to make a purchase for me over Christmas and couldn't get any help, so she winged it and picked out what she thought looked best, without the benefit of the staff's help. I will continue to go in and search for parts mainly on my own unless one of the girls is there and kind enough to offer help. I am now ordering parts when I can online, I like to support the local guy but man how about a little help now and then. A main hobbies will not ship to an address that is different than your billing address without making the customer jump through hoops and fax in all of their personal info to an anonymous fax number. I am not at my home during the day as I work and I cannot trust the people that live around my house to not steal my packages. Drove all the way from Portland, Oregon to visit this store and take some Heli flying lessons. I did not announce or tell anyone at the store I was coming. I went in as a customer and started walking around. I was asked by three different employes if I needed any help. I explained I was just looking around and was in awe at the stores presents,inventory and displays. I finally started asking for a specific parts for a Heli and they took me right to a huge selection of replacement parts. I ask if my flying instructer was in and they explained he worked at their other location which is also the warehouse and indoor track for RC cars. My instructor met me in the lobby and got me a pass to tour the facility. It seemed as large as a Wal-Mart or bigger. THe local shops around Portland I trade at only carry (1) one of my Heli's in stock or need to order. They had over 60 in stock!!!!!! on a pallet....... I bought all the spares I need and learned some real trick things from their team flying leader. I will be driving back down to Chico to fly and buy more parts. I have ordered on line with these folks and I get everything I order at some of the best prices in the industry. I give them a AAAAAAAAA++++++++ rating. We held a company event at their warehouse off of Hegan. There was a huge track and we raced RC cars. It was really well put together and everyone enjoyed competing against each other. We were able to bring food and drinks with plenty of chairs and tables made available. There were also vending machines available for extra drinks and snacks. It took a bit longer because there was about 20 of us, so give yourself a solid 2 hours if you have a big group. The price was very affordable and everyone had a blast. Highly recommend for a company/department event. read more

Honestly this place was probably the best customer service I've ever had! Travis helped me pick out a quad-copter for my boyfriends birthday. I walked in told him my budget and what I wanted, and he went over all the options I had and which was the best choices for my budget. He also gave me his business card and told me if I had any questions on how to work the copter to call and he would be able to help. He seemed invested in the customer service, and if we ever decided to get another quad copter we're definitely coming back! Extremely helpful and informative!! read more

I went to the 2013 Silver Dollar Off-Road Challenge in Chico last May, and I decided to visit the A Main Store that is close to the track to get some parts. The clerks were so rude and did not want to help. When I was getting ready to pay, one of the clerk mentioned that A Main hobbies was having a big raffle with big prizes. So I decided to buy $ 50.00 dollars a dollar each ticket. Next day, when they had the raffle, I was so shocked that most of the winners were the employees from A Main Hobbies . All the big prices went to the" A Main Hobbies" employees. I could not believe that all the clerks from the store and some people that work on the track were the winners. I overheard three employees what they want to win before the raffle. These guys have all the tickets. What a coincidence, the guys from A Main won what they had said. I saw a few regular people that won a set of tires or a set of screwdrivers. I don't believe the owner was involved on this scam. He was just playing with his toys and he was the most arrogant person on the track. The track is very nice, if you go there and they are having a raffle, do not buy tickets!! On my table there were people that spent more that a $100.00 dollars and won nothing, like me..... read more
