I experienced what felt like gatekeeping toward experienced players and well-built Commander decks. The environment seemed geared toward keeping games at lower power levels rather than accommodating a variety of playstyles. The store also keeps very limited hours, being open only for a few hours on weekends, which makes it difficult to shop or attend events regularly. The hygiene policy also struck me as unusually strict. While I understand wanting to maintain a clean and comfortable environment, some aspects of the policy seem unnecessarily rigid and could unfairly affect people with legitimate medical or glandular conditions. Overall, I found the community to be geared primarily toward newer players and mostly unmodified Bracket 1-2 preconstructed Commander decks. If that's what you're looking for, it may be a good fit. However, players with larger collections, more optimized decks, or more experience may find the environment restrictive and less welcoming. There are other game stores in the area, like Hero's Corner, that, in my experience, offer a broader range of playstyles, more flexible communities, less gatekeeping, and a more enjoyable overall experience. I've been to a lot of different LGS's over the years and I can't say I'd recommend this one.

Was greeted with a sign outside that said wear deodorant..... okay understanable but thats really brazen for an owner to do that. The young women behind the counter was insanely helpful and kind though! I expressed my previous ventures here about the old owner and we talked, lovely discussion and the only reason thisnplaces gets a two and not a 1. The owner was apparently on the bottom floor playing / organizing cards. Me and my friend started to look through the bulk area of cards and started to ask about pricing of certain cards and packs. That's when the owner chimed in with the absolute worst attitude, a complete night and day compared to the person running the ont desk. In his bulk section we made a point that these 10 cards totaled less then what he wanted for the cards in that price section and we were willing to round up but just not over pay by about $6. The sneer this person had was horrid. Idk how people like that ever are blessed with the ability to own and operate a buisness but it is really sad. This place as amazing during college for me, but the new owner has completly built an extremely toxic atmosphere.

I've had two phone interactions with customer service over the past week and both times I've been blown away by the quality of the service. First I bought a 1/24 Axial SCX24 on clearance and CS helped make sure I had the best deal possible. Second, after getting the set and finding the usb charger & battery were defective, AMain sent me an upgraded charger/battery free of charge. Both calls were very pleasant and as a new R/C enthusiast, they answered every question with positivity. I just wish there was an AMain here where I live in Oakland.

Today we celebrated my son's 10th Birthday Party at A-Main Hobbies. We stopped in here for the…read morefirst time a few months back and my son fell in love with the place. Shortly after, I called to inquire about hosting his birthday. I was told they were just starting the planning phase of hosting birthday parties and I would get a call back. My son was over the moon excited when we got the call back from Shaun to book the party. Come to find out we were the first birthday party they hosted and it was down right the best birthday party ever! Much to our surprise Shaun made custom personalized stickers and a giant banner for my son (that we even got to take home). They had the party area reserved for us to decorate with our party decor as soon as we arrived. They had all the cars charged up and ready to go right on time for all the guest to use upon arrival. Shaun and his team gave great instructions and after everyone getting to test out the cars for a bit Shaun got over the loud speaker and announced a couple races, personalizing it just for our son. After about an hour of racing we braked for pizza and doughnuts (my son's preference over cake) while Shaun and his team charged up the cars for the second wave of racing. We had all ages of racers for the party from as young as age 8 all the way up to age 85 and let me tell you, this is so much fun for anyone at any age! Employees walked right past me without so much as a glance, and when an older staff member finished with a group of customers, I was clearly next in line yet he looked right past me and helped a customer who had just walked in. He went on to help yet another customer who arrived after I did. I have never felt so invisible in a retail setting. Not a single person asked if I needed help or even made eye contact.
