I've been seeing this place appear on my feed and I figured I should pay them a visit. I came early in the afternoon on Sunday and was the only one in there. I walked up to the front and there were two girls in front of the register on their phones. It took them a couple minutes before they looked up and when they did, seemed less than enthused for me to be there. I looked at the menu before I came and knew I wanted the Pabellon with beef and some passion fruit juice. They said the were out it but had blackberry instead. I paid and sat down A few minutes later my food was ready and they came and gave it to me. The portion of meat was smaller than I expected and I had way more rice than everything else. The maduros were pretty good, as were the meat and beans. I'd probably pass on the blackberry juice again because it was rather blah. AI was surprised at the tables they had and was expecting more round or square, not picnic style tables. Overall, I had pretty nice visit. The portions weren't all congruent and it was freezing but I'd probably visit again. read more

This spot was fantastic! We ordered at the counter and it was pretty easy. The servers are so sweet. They have a great menu with a little bit of everything. We got the sampler, some empanadas, and an arepa to share. The portions are HUGE we got two meals out of it! And they STUFF everything full of meat. If you think it seems expensive, it's because you're getting your monies worth in the chicken and beef going into them. The cilantro sauce was amazing and went well with everything. After the first time that I tried this place I constantly think about the next time I'm gonna go there! This is the third time I've tried Amazing Arepa Bar, twice at their storefront and once at the Hispanic festival in soulard. Every time that I try this restaurant I am always amazed amazed by the quality of the foods and drinks there. The cachapa is one of my favorite items on the menu, but I decided to try something different this time so I ordered the Reina Arepa and it was sooooo delicious and extremely filling. I also ordered the Parchita (passion fruit juice) and I highly recommend ordering this, or any of their natural fruit juices because they are completely homemade and so fresh. All of the workers that I have encountered in the restaurant are always really nice and helpful when it came to questions about the menu or anything else. Oh my goodness the food here was phenomenal! Really a hidden gem in downtown. The food was fresh and the woman working was so helpful; as food came out for some of the other tables, she would show us what it was which helped put names to the foods. After two visits, I love this place and can't recommend it enough! The staff is super friendly and helpful but the food knocked my socks off both times. I'll break down what we got and what we loved/didn't love so much. Sample Platter - The taquenos were pretty much the best cheese sticks I've ever had. The arepa was delicious and a good size, but it's smaller than the regular arepas and it doesn't say that on the menu. The min-cachapa was delicious, but really heavy. It's a slice from two sweet corn pancakes with cheese in-between and crema and cheese on top. wow. Veggie Arepas - Pick your favorite ingredients. You can't go wrong with the arepas. Pepito (Street Sandwich) - We ate 50 different sandwiches in St Louis last year and this one immediately jumped into my top 5. It's kind of a mess to eat but it's worth it. You'll be licking your fingers. Looks like a lot of meat, but there's veggies underneath and it's a great balance of flavors. The cilantro garlic sauce makes it incredible. Got one for lunch and had to save half to take home. Empanadas - Haven't been to Venezuela but I can't imagine they make them much better than this there. Just the simple bean and cheese was better than it had any right to be. Perfect texture and it got better with every bite. The brown sugar lemonade was good but too sweet for me to finish. I guess that was my biggest complaint? All in all, a great spot for lunch and an excellent place to bring anyone who might not have tried Venezuelan food to gently expand their palate. They'll find something they love. I can't wait to go back. We'll have even more to say on an upcoming episode so keep an eye out for that soon! read more

I need this place to have more business! Fried plantains are one of my favorite things to eat and they did them real well. Can't wait to come back to try some more things off of their extensive menu. Amaizing Arepa bar was the best place to celebrate my birthday! We were greeted when we walked in and then she spoke with us and arranged tables for us which was very nice!! She attended us and answered any questions and even changed the music for us for the birthday celebration! Had a great experience and will be back again. The food has Venezuelan sazón my parents are from Venezuela, Villa de cura and were very happy because the meal reminded them of home. Authentic flavors and authentic people here! My toddler and I stopped by here after a trip to City Museum. She's not so much a picky eater as much as she's just really into cheese right now, which ended up being perfect because the sampler platter has lots of it sprinkled on top of cachapas and in the arepa as well. I've had Venezuelan food before but I would also recommend that menu item to anyone who might be trying it for the first time. Very savory and comforting flavors. The cilantro cream sauce for the tequeños was so delicious! Service was friendly and good; the spot was relatively quiet because it was a weekday afternoon but it's a really unique space and I would be interested to see what it's like on weekends and in the evenings. I've been frequenting the folks who run this restaurant for a couple of years now because they have a booth at the Tower Grove Farmers Market and one at the annual Hispanic Festival in Soulard. So let's just say I'm already familiar and a fan of theirs.... Their brick and mortar is right by my esthetician so I stopped in to see their place. It's beautiful, clean and spacious. I went about 3pm so it was not busy. I ordered my regular beef and cheddar cheese arepa and a cheese empanada and plantains (maduros for those who like sweet plantains) with cheese. My son got the special burger. I can tell you as usual everything was fresh and delicious. My son (he's 21) said it was the best burger he's ever had. There was a meat patty, chicken, ham, sausage and I think an egg on it. He was in heaven! For me their cilantro sauce is one of the best things I've ever tasted. Yeah I like this spot. The arepas are nice and fat, soft bun too. There are other places in town you could get an arepa but not at this price and not nearly as much as they give you here. My husband and I met our friends in STL and we stayed around the corner from this delightful restaurant. The food is AUTHENTIC and SO good. First, the lovely women who were running the place on a Sunday afternoon were extremely helpful and friendly - explaining dishes, flavors, etc. They gave us a sample of soup - also very tasty -I wound up ordering a bowl of it...in addition to my meal. And the empanadas. Dang. It is safe to say that everything was a 10/10. Even the daily juice (which was blackberry) was perfection. Our group got two Cachapas meals, an arepa,an empanada, the daily soup, and the Venezuelan plate. My husband ordered the plate. He lived in Venezuela for a year, and he said it was just like the meals he had every day over there. Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed. Oh, and it's very clean as well.
