Amami is phenomenal! Best sandwhiches in Lewisburg and they are great with food allergies

We stopped for an early brunch date on Sunday morning. Absolutely jammed packed with people and service was extremely slow. We waited about an hour for two sandwiches and fries . Other customers were complaining. We stayed and the food was amazing! We would be tempted to come back if their wait wasn't so long. First time here. Serving breakfast and lunch, its menu was varied and they had some great flavor options. I got the Piccante Brunch panini and it did not disappoint. Their own home baked chips were fantastic. A moderate wait because it was really busy. Chill environment with surfboards hanging, beach scene in black and white above our table. Staff were courteous. Everything about this spot is perfect for a home-y coffee shop feel. The entrance is a quiet and quaint spot. It faces a small stream with wild flowers. Upon walking there's all kinds of knick knacks placed around, some small murals on the wall. I'm an iced latte fan and was pleased to see a long list of flavors. The baristas were friendly off the bat, talking us through the flavors and telling us popular choices when we couldn't decide. The barista that made my drink double checked after handing me my drink that I liked my order. I'm not from this area so they were happy to chat with me about places to see in Lewisburg. This establishment seems to be your typical cafe. The menus and descriptions of food are very misleading, I ordered a chicken wrap and received a wrap full of cheese with almost no chicken. Service was extremely slow, we waited at least 45 minutes for our meals, the restaurant didn't appear to be busy at the time. Overall the food while ok wasn't anything special and the wait was far too long. read more

Was recommended the Nutella French Toast. The best French toast I've had. Period. I usually don't get French toast b/c it gets soggy in the middle. Not here, toasty on the outside, and fluffy inside. Cute little cafe, decent food, disappointing staff and flexibility. We stopped by for lunch--half our party was satisfied, half not. Speaking of HALF--the staff refused to honor half portions. The menu is RIPE for a "pick two" or half portion of a salad or sandwich, but they would not bend. Paninis had wet/soft bread, and the pita chips they push on you are TERRIBLE and bland. No seasoning or salt to speak of--skip the pita and opt for French fries. The spinach salad with strawberries is good. read more

Great place to grab breakfast with friends so close to campus! Loved my frozen dirty chai. Avocado toast was pretty good but served in to go containers so had to construct ourselves (not sure if this is typical or just covid protocol). Hands down one of the best brunch spots in Lewisburg. This is a staple along Bucknell students, and is always well trafficked on the weekend. It does get pretty busy and the wait can be a little long, but if you order ahead and are willing to wait a few extra minutes it's well worth it. read more

They moved! They're really off of S. 6th street. I should preface this review with the fact that we're from out of town and are just passing through on our way to NY. We're not used to college towns, which this area most definitely is. We walked in and had no idea where to order of if we wait for a waiter; there's no sign telling you what to do. We weren't greeted by anyone, even though the counter is right there, and had to ask customers eating where they ordered. We stood at the counter and the two ladies working didn't welcome us or let us know that they even knew we were there. After a couple minutes the one turned around and took our order. She didn't know what kind of chicken you get as a side ( I wanted it on my salad). I ordered anyway and it's like sliced chicken breast from the deli. My husband got some panini. I got the breakfast salad with chicken. The food was okay. The restaurant was dirty. I had to find the cleaning spray and napkins to wipe the visible crumbs from the table and and the benches. The floor was nasty and the benches were uncomfortable. The bathroom doesn't quite lock. All of this gives the restaurant 3 stars; however, I will say they were one of the only places opened on a Sunday. If you're used to small, college towns with okay food, this is the place for you! read more

I am a senior at Bucknell and used to love amami. It has gotten progressively worse year after year. The sandwiches are smaller, quality has decreased, inconsistent, takes over an hour, and when you check in the status of your order you are always told "its on the press". Is it? Because if it was on the press for as long as they say it would be burned. I am so done paying $13 for a sandwich. read more

When we walked up last Saturday morning, the inside was dark and it was hard to tell whether it was open or not. I just randomly opened the door and turned out it was open. In retrospect I wish it was actually locked. Cute little store and a very intriguing menu with lots of drinks of some basic breakfast items that seemed to be different because of one or two cool additional ingredients. We were with two other couples and were basically among the first 8 people to order anything that morning. We put our orders in and then the people behind us were told that it would probably be about a 30min wait for food to come out...regardless they didn't tell us anything. We sat outside and waited for our orders. Coffees came. Coffee was heinously sugary. Dirty chai was quite good though. Then the waiting continued. And the line got longer...there were only 2 people working inside which seemed ill advised. Eventually one worker just came outside and told people it was going to be an hour wait for food. We kept waiting...30min passed...45min passed. One of the workers would walk by us and completely ignore us if we tried to ask what was going on. I finally went inside and tried to ask and again was completely ignored. People were standing in line and no one was manning the cash register. I saw (what turned out to be) our food just sitting on the counter for who knows how long. Finally one of my friends got her attention and she brought our food out. It had by that time been 1 hour and 5 minutes. My friend got the avocado toast. 10$. Toast, avocado, grilled zucchini, artichoke hearts and burrata. I kid you not, only 2 of those things ended up on what she got. For 10 dollars she got a slightly toasted piece of bread, 5 slices of avocado, and a PARTIALLY cooked egg. Not only was egg not on the menu (what if she was vegan?), but it wasn't even cooked through. So my friend ended up eating a piece of bread with avocado on it...for 10$. I was quite upset and wanted to go get our money back or complain but given the wait I figured it wasn't worth it. At least if after over an hour, the food was great, that would have been something. It was COMPLETELY wrong. Someone else in our group got a yogurt dish with blueberries and granola. It was correct...but unclear why that took 1 hour to assemble. At least if during that 1 hour, the staff was nice or recognized the fact that we had been waiting for a absurdly long time, that would have been something. Instead, we were ignored and the waitress didn't even say anything when she finally gave us our food. Terrible service, wrong food, one item of which was uncooked and could have been a health hazard, and a 1 hour wait. Never again. read more

Amami is the best cafe in the area, by far. Their drink menu is expansive; you really can't go wrong with any selection but I absolutely recommend a dirty chai (iced or hot). Similarly, the menu is innovative and food is always fresh and well-prepared. For breakfast, try any of the oatmeals, and for lunch, the prosciutto panini is my go-to. I visit weekly with friends, and often by myself to study - the cafe is very busy during lunch hours, but by 1:30PM there are less people and it is a perfect quiet environment for working. The staff is friendly, and service is efficient (but if you come during busy hours, expect a little bit of a wait, but great quality food nonetheless). The atmosphere is cozy and perfectly cultivates a hipster/urban vibe, from the music selection to the decor. It blends in seamlessly with the rest of downtown Lewisburg, but effortlessly brings something unexpected (but entirely welcome) to the town. read more
