They have a selection of tea and alcoholic drinks to choose from too. They also have breakfast quiches and burritos. The back corner provides a peaceful space to work your remote job. As a fellow remote worker I am always on the hunt for spaces I can be productive in. Amante is looking to be one of them. read more

Excellent Italian style espresso. I think the coffee is actually roasted in and imported from Italy. Rich in body, and almost syrup thick. The atmosphere here is very European industrial, with bright reds, stainless steel and a lit up wall of Italian liqueurs. One of my favorites lattes I have had. It was really good. I ordered the egg nog latte with rum, which was AMAZING! Their customer service was really good since she recommended the drink and the drink was to the mark. We stopped their in Boulder and want to go back just for that drink again. Glad we supported the local coffee shop! We ordered cappuccino as well, which was just as good. They also had other holiday drinks such as PSL, Egg Nog Chai, and more. This morning, my 2 sisters and I came in to get some work done. Initially, we were excited when we saw how spacious and inviting it felt. However, that feeling faded quickly when we were approached by an employee (the manager, I assume) and rudely told we needed to buy something or we would "have to go." To maximize our time, we got straight to work when we arrived. We were focused and working for about 30-45 minutes, with every intention to take a break to order some coffee. Right next to us, a white woman was sitting on her phone for at least as long. She was not approached or told anything. When I approached the counter, I wasn't acknowledged for about 2 minutes despite 2 employees being present. I ordered a couple items and proceeded to ask to talk to the employee who approached our table. I stated that I had some feedback and stated that I felt disrespected by the way we were approached. I also suggested that if there is a time limit before someone is expected to order, that should be clearly stated. I was told that "this isn't a library." An unfortunate reminder that if you are a person of color in Boulder, you have a 30 minute limit before you have to purchase your ability to be present at this coffee shop. However, if you're white, it seems there is no time limit for you. Enjoy. read more

Just paid $7 for a microwaved burrito, only to be informed that CenturyLink shut down their internet two days ago because some patron keeps using their network to download movies illegally via BitTorrent. This doesn't seem to be a problem for any other coffee shop in the Front Range. Very inconvenient for all the law abiding customers who are just trying to get some work done. read more

This place is fantastic. I work from home and regularly need to get out of the house for my sanity. Amante is my favorite place to work in Boulder insofar. The music isn't terribly loud, its always pleasant (love the classical) and most of the other people there are also working or if they are talking they're talking pretty quietly. They have sherpa chai which is my second love next to wine, as well as a good assortment of light snacks. Parking is easy and you can almost always find an unpaid spot. Staff is friendly and its very clean. 5 star work score. read more

An update after my third time in... +1 star for fast wifi, another for nice seating and a third for delicious beverages. -1 for impolite baristas and another for ridiculous bathrooms that aren't very clean. There is always seating here in the vicinity of outlets and Amante offers a modern feel. It seems to be a common spot for people biking through, so if you're looking for a quiet place to concentrate, this probably isn't the spot for you. The restrooms have this ridiculous code on them, and the first time you try to figure it out you might think you're being observed for a social experiment in reading directions. It's mortifying, and if you sit near the restrooms you'll watch newbies fail 3-4 times before entering. The restrooms have a strange stench and are never very clean. At a place that serves food, I find this a little unsettling and I hope their standards behind the bar are higher. The baristas here never seem thrilled to help you out, it's a different story at the Baseline location. There are better coffee shops for studying in Boulder, but if you're looking to grab a coffee to go, their beverages are great. Just don't expect service with a smile. read more

One of the best coffee houses in Boulder I have yet to come across. The location is a bit out of the way, but the lighting and the windows make this an incredible place to do work, enjoy the morning paper, or stare at the hot guy across the barista bar. The vast amounts of seating options make this a great place visit any day of the week, as I usually am able to find a table all for myself without feeling like the only person in the entire shop. The pastries and food are scrumptious, and the European feel of the coffee shop make you realize some of the amenities that most coffee shops are missing... The taste of coffee. I still don't get what the trendoid bicycling crowds and other scenesters see in this place. Yes, I have experienced Amante, starting with the lst week it was open. The coffee tastes fine, that I'll give it. During the years I've lived in Boulder, I've come to loathe these see-and-be-seen scenester places. They do a good business. So the product they deliver must be quality, as Boulderites will not frequent a scene if the basic product is not of enduring quality, right? ;o) I, however, will not pay over $5 for a relatively weak latte drink when I can get a nice strong & flavorful latte drink less than a mile down the street at a place I find more pleasant for less than $3. I realize the rents are sky-high in the Holiday Neighborhood where Amante is located, so prices must reflect that. I also have observed that many businesses have already come and gone in this relatively new neighborhood, most likely due to the combination of jacked-up rents and lack of parking and foot-traffic. So it's wonderful that Amante appeals to the bicyclists who are on their way in and out of town. Just so you know....outdoorsy people, yuppie scenesters, climbers, CU and Naropa students, and people in tight-ass bike shorts are not the only citizens of Boulder. There were dishes all over the place and where you doctor your drink up was dirty and I could barely reach the lids n thangs because they were up a bit high and far back. I had to lean against the dirty table top thing to get to them so I left with an unfaerielike feeling. My drink was yummy though. Also, the chickadees behind the counter were... out of sync. I would probably give this place 4 stars if only rating the taste of their coffee, but unfortunately because of the consistently rude staff, my review is so much less. Don't expect any sort of service here, all the staff acts like they have a stick up their ass. No hello, no thank you, no smile, you will only get a yes...with a what do you want... underlying tone and snotty facial expressions. And yes, you earn tips, you don't deserve them, especially not with that attitude. Unfortunately this place is conveniently located in my neighborhood but I go out of my way to get at least a hello with my coffee. Coffee is all right and a bit overpriced but I suppose the norm for "upscale" places like this. The baristas were polite for the most part but what bothered me as I was walking back to my car was the BLM sign posted on their window. I wish I had taken a picture but was taken aback by the wording on it. Its one thing to stand against racism of any kind but it was very unprofessional the kind of verbiage on the sign. (Paraphrasing what I saw) "Leave the racist bullshit outside and don't be bringing that negativity in here!" Most businesses I have been to and people I have encountered don't do that sort of thing anyway and I know we have different POVs, but this is particularly divisive and does more to hurt the biz IMO and turn people off to patronizing their establishment. We already live in an overly politicized society, can we just enjoy a cup of coffee as civil human beings without either side touting their political views? read more

I walked into this coffee shop looking quite obviously bedraggled and sleep deprived. I ordered a large latte and when I picked it up on the other end, the barista gave me a knowing look and said, "An extra shot of espresso fell in there by accident." It was right then that I knew Amante was alright by me. This was described to me as the "less snobby Amante" and, while I've never been to the other one, I thought this place was pretty chill. Chill but crowded. It was pretty hard to find a seat and, as usual, there were way too many tables packed into the space. Which I've already stated is my biggest coffee shop pet peeve. If I ever find myself back in North Boulder again and in need of caffenation, I'll be sure to stop back here. read more

Boulder is great! Very diverse and mind blowing cultural side that most small towns don't dream about being bold like how Boulder is. Amante coffee was my friend's suggestion, since we spent the day wondering around and it was getting colder and colder. We were heading ourselves to Haagen Dazs when se spotted Amante, and that was great because I've never been there and it's quite a hidden gem. They don't just serve coffee... They do serve a great variety of coffee, their French pastries were good, we had a butter croissant which was perfect; flaky, buttery, and thousands of layers. The chocolate croissant was good too. Besides that, they do have a happy hour from 5-7 everyday if I'm not mistaken. read more

This morning I arrive at Amante at 5:39 AM, 5 minutes before their opening time. I am young woman, and a graduate student who was looking to start studying early. Mind you, it's pitch black at 5:39 AM, in January... I saw the barista inside, and tapped on glass-thinking that of course as another woman seeing a fellow young girl- she would bend the rules and let me in. Instead, she made a rude face and gestured to me that they didn't open until 5:45. She did this ALL THROUGH THE GLASS as she refused to come over and see me. I then waited nervously outside the door for 5 minutes. At which point she opened door, and without apologizing rudely told me that they don't open until 5:45. She then told me that she thought her safety was threatened as she "couldn't see me through the window" based on fact that I'm "black and wearing black". She explicitly said those words. Making direct comment on my race. OH and the window tint as an after effect. And yet she was fine walking to the door and opening it minutes later. This was also while i held my texts books, clearly demonstrating my student status. She then asked me to leave once I expressed my complaint in calm voice. Rachel is the manager of the Baseline Amante and she is the person I had the poor interaction with this morning. You lost a customer today Amante and one who came very frequently at that. read more

I've been going here consistently for months. Some of the staff is okay but Bridget and others are terrible. They are condescending and rude. They charge a dollar for refills while Starbucks is FREE. I am NEVER going back there. Hayley is wonderful and always tip her. Btw. Bridget confronted me about not paying for the refill she poured and the. Proceeded to yell in front of everyone that I don't tip her and that I had been there for hours. Go anywhere else. Mediocre at best and overall terrible staff. As they pointed out, he is a regular. THAT IS THE ONLY THING IMPORTANT TO THEM. It's the regulars (of which I was one) that are big tippers that matter to them and no one else. Amante in NoBo is great. I recommend it over the downtown location because it's more spacious. If you're looking for latte art (you know... when the barista makes pictures in the foam as (s)he's pouring), they've done it on both of my visits. Oh, they're open surprisingly late, too. People, it's a COFFEE SHOP. You're giving it one dollar sign? For a coffee shop, their prices are moderate. $$. I got a latte and a little breakfasty thing and it cost several dollars. But I got a refill on the latte cup with regular coffee for only $0.90. Cool. Panera, on the other hand, is a $ place. You can spend 2.5 bucks and refill your coffee all day. Drink until you vomit, if that's the kind of day you want. But their coffee isn't as good. Don't go for food, though they will provide you with minimal sustenance. For that head south on Broadway to the North Boulder Cafe. Oh, bonus for the laptop crowd: They have outlets at most tables. I really like this place! And it seems like alot of other folks like it too. At 1pm this afternoon it was full of individuals, pairs, couples and groups - most on laptops, most conducting big business, building the next great startup, networking, napping, studying - it was happen'. The staff was laid back, friendly and informative - I ordered a decaf latte made with skim milk and sugar free vanilla syrup - which I was informed had a name... It's called a "Why Bother Latte" :-) I really felt like I was was a Boulder, yuppie, starbucks wanna be with my special order. The seating was ample, the lighting was great and natural and the wifi was free - what more do you need. They also had a great menu selection. This a review for the Amante Uptown in North Boulder. Overall I'd give them 5 stars but sometimes seating can be sparse (read this place can be crowded). The coffee is great from lattes to cappuccinos. The baristas are business like when busy and friendly when things are calmer. Lot's of work from home/coffee shop types here mixed in with students studying during the week between 9 and 6. On weekends, the crowd tends to be a lot of bicyclists either meeting before a ride or hanging out after a ride. If you find yourself in NoBo Amante is worth checking out. read more

Amante Coffee was a good omen a lovely weekend. I will start out with my appreciation for the steamed milk coffee decor. It has become a wide-spread talent among privately-owned caffeine shops, but I love it. I just love it. (Hence the photo). Amante Coffee's common guest seems to be the cyclist. We were not cycling... or thinking about any kind of work, but it was on the way to our destination (which was actually un-destined since we were going to pick a place in the mountains that felt right). Anyway, that's for another review. As for Amante Coffee, it was clean, yet artsy (which don't always go together, but Amante pulled it off well). I remember clearly the photograph outside the ladies room: beautiful and indescribable - (check it out, and save me the grief of deriving words that won't do it justice). If I were closer, this would be a regular stop for me, but I'm a Denver-uh-person... what do they call us here in Denver? Anyway, I'll be sure to visit again should I head down whatever road it's on while on my way to wherever. read more

So far, this is the best coffee that I've had in Boulder. I'm a junkie, and looking for talented baristas to feed my habit. This place has them. I've enjoyed every drink here. The seating's a little crazy, and it's often packed (boo!) which is lame as it's a bit of a walk to my next favorite place. Lots of bikers love this place. I mean the bicycle kind of biker.... Predictable as there's a bike shop right next door. Love the decor, love the light, don't totally love the crowd and the noise. Outdoor seating is definitely a bonus. read more

Not sure why everybody thinks this place is so amazing. It does have a nice decor, I guess I understand what they are trying to do with the cafe and offerings. I've only had a drink there once, but it was an adequate Americano, not bitter at all. Seemed that there were a lot of people having business meeting, working on their computer, etc. Side note - apparently a cyclist hangout - the Colnago variety of cyclist is my guess. I seemed to be the only cyclist in there on today's snow storm. Not a hipster stop at all. It's hard to write a review to suit everybody in this case. If a professional environment or a good solitary cup of coffee is what you need, this seems like a great choice. I wouldn't walk/drive/bike/bus across Boulder to go here though, so many other choices in the core of town. If you live in N Boulder, lucky you! read more

I never really warmed up too much to Amante. There are always a lot of people hiding behind their laptops. The atmosphere is rather cold in my eyes. The place is too now to have much of a traditional flair. This is clearly a mecca for cycling fanatics. Don't go during the Tour de France since it will be on non-stop. The Amante North I am writing about is at a prime location since there isn't really too much around that's worth mentioning in my eyes. The service is friendly. I consider it pricey. But that's fairly common with coffee shops these days. All in all my sentiment towards the place is fairly neutral. Not bad but nothing to rave about. read more
