We order from Amatos often. The pizza is always good! This time we tried their sandwiches. Hubbie got the italian sausage and I got the 1/3 lb burger with cheese and green olives. The burger was excellent. Delivered hot with the perfect proportion of toppings. I did not expect that good of a burger from a pizza place! The italian was good but they forgot the marinara on it. No problem, hubbie used some of the sauce from the penne pasta he ordered as a side substitution for the fries. Love that you can change out for the pasta. The sauce is very good. I have heard great things about Amato's , and i am happy to report they are true! Their pizza is one of the best around, dare I say it's close to Lou's? Our daughter had some friends over, we usually have Pizza from a few other local spots, thought we would try Amatos after 12yrs living near by. Had a thin crust family size 1/2 pepperoni and a 14 inch Chicago style Cheese. Doughy for both pies; even the thin crust. To sum it up, unremarkable, there's better locals nearby. One of the benefits of living in the Chicagoland area is the large amount of pizza joints to choose from. Although I would like to see myself as a pizza connoisseur, I know I'm just another shmuck that eats a lot of pizza from multiple places. Years ago when I was living in Carol Stream, I was able to enjoy Amato's from their Glendale Heights location. Since I moved out to Aurora in 2003, I haven't seen nor touched their food. A couple Friday's ago while getting ready to order from our standard place, for some reason Amato's flashed in my head. Since I haven't enjoyed their food in over 7 years, we figured we'd give it a shot. Since then and every time we've ordered from this location, delivery has been like lighting. I think the longest we have waited was 35 minutes. As for the food, better than I remember. Actually, this is in my top three of best thin crust pizzas I have ever had. Another plus about this location is they don't skimp on the ingredients. The first time I ordered with extra cheese and there was just too much. The next time I ordered normally and it was perfect. The only other item I've tried on the menu was the wings. They are good and large, but their sauces are pretty average. Either way; great pizza, fast delivery and competitive pricing. Well...this is a bit of a complex final conclusion. We tried out the Amato's salad & Chicago style stuffed crust veggie with pepperoni. Generous amount of sauce, no problem there. The salad was a better than average kick start to open us up for the pizza. Ordered a couple of sodas to go with our meal. My thoughts were if you want something in the middle of Geno's East & Giardano's but without the sexiness of Lou Malnatis this is what you wanna have. The staff was nice. Limited seating, so if you wanna sit down for lunch, good luck. I suggest ordering for pick up. Overall, I wasn't wowed, but not turned off by the pizza or experience. It was good, not great, but definitely recommend you try it if you are tired of your usual pizza haunts. If you're not closing bars down on a Friday night & wanna transition to a semi late dinner this is a good spot to catch a quite meal with someone you have dinner with regularly. This review is for their take-out/delivery experience. Prices are creeping up and food quality is slipping. Have not ordered pizza for over a year (as I found pizza that our family prefers over Amato's) but have been ordering other menu items such as sandwiches (hot and cold) and dinners due to the proximity of their location to our house. Over the past year or two, the portions have been getting smaller while prices have been rising. If the prices simply increased it would still be a good value (rather than great) and my review would have stayed at my origional 4 stars. I wish to let the readers of this review know; Management of this establishment replied to my review and I acknowledge prices have gone up over the past 13 years, however, I was speaking to the past year or two. Food should be a good to great value as well as taste good to receive a 4 or 5 star review, especially when an establishment focuses on take-out/delivery. read more

I'm a New Yorker so I'm not usually a fan of pizza around Chicago...but some of it is not so bad. Amato's however is an example of everything that is wrong with pizza in the mid west. Crust is like hard tack civil war biscuit. So much so that cheese won't blend to it...just slides off in a lump. Sauce has a bitter taste....like marinara from a jar. And then there is that ridiculous cross cut slicing. Did I mention that it's kind of expensive? I did like their ordering system, which I will never use again. But I ordered half pepperoni, half sausage and they put the really tiny amounts of both on one half and left the other half plain. Oy veh. Go to Jets instead. read more

Horrible pizza! Worst I've ever had. The owner claims he's never had any complaints. Well not according to Google or Yelp. We ordered a double crust pizza and a super thin pizza. What a disaster! The thin pizza was to be crispy. It was soggy and tasteless. The double dough pizza was nasty and tasted like cardboard. Do yourself a favor and pass on this establishment. I've tired a little bit of everything here. From the pizzas, pastas, sandwiches, and apps--everything is pretty flavorful and portions are huge. This is my go-to place for deep dish for sure. It's not the best pizza I've had, but I know exactly what I'm getting every time. Four stars as the staff can sometimes be a tad colorful/brash and some food is frozen, not fresh--minor details. I'm going to upgrade this. Amato's has become my go-to pizza. Even my parents look forward to eating here when they come up from St. Louis. Pizzas always have tons of toppings, sauce isn't too sweet, crust is crispy, and they use lots of really good cheese. Always nicely browned, and perfectly rubbery. I love that texture. Decided to stop delivering to our "area". We live 4 miles - 10 minutes from them. Pretty good food but extremely rude on the phone!

So I've been trying to cut down on carbs and we decided to look for a carb less Pizza with cauliflower crust. The only place we found was Amatos, and I have to say the cauliflower crust pizza was great. We were a little disappointed that it was not the 12 inch as they had advertised but really was a 10 inch pizza crust that they bring in from their supplier. Since it was so small we had to order two for $26. So needless to say that made it a little pricey for us and the grandkids. The menu was quite extensive although we have not had the chance the try any of their other food, we will go back. read more

Usually this place is great but not tonight. I ordered half Molti Gusti and couldn't figure out what I wanted on the other half. Adam said if it was just cheese on the other half it wouldn't work because of all the ingredients on the Molti Gusti-the cheese size would burn. I said I would figure out what I wanted and call him back. I called back within less than 3 minutes and ordered the other half to be Margherita with sausage. At first he didn't think that was going to work and then he was having trouble ringing it up-was going to charge me separately for each ingredient and I said no-he didn't which was cool. Thursday is Wing Special night-8 with bone for $4.99. I ordered 1 Buffalo and asked which was better the teriyaki or garlic. He said garlic was his favorite so I got that. Neither order was right. No sausage on the Margherita and 2 orders of garlic. The wings were dry-no sauce on them at all. Wish I would have known this. I don't like them that way and was looking forward to the others which should have been saucy AND spicy. Pizza was not good. Tomatoes made the Molti Gusti soggy. Called. First impressions are easy to make if you know what you are doing and this place failed. If Yelp were to give the option of rating this place with negative stars then I would have given this place a negative star. First off, my wife and I moved to a different part of the neighborhood and wanted deep dish pizza for dinnner. So I called this place and I was advised that they had a delivery time of an hour and a half (includes cook time and to your door) compared to other places that had a two hour wait time. I think this place is good if you are ordering a standard pizza (I.e., Sausage or Pizza). We went out on a limb and ordered their Buffalo Chicken Pizza. Came in with my boyfriend to try out Amato's lunch pizza special and decided to eat our slices there. The one male employee (believe was the manager) was in the front of the shop with one of the male drivers having conversations not meant to be talked about in front of customers....the entire time we were there. He was using loads of profanity and yelling about random things on the TV. Kept talking smack talk to the driver and about working. We felt very uncomfortable the entire time we were there. Not bad for thin crust. Pepperoni is underneath the cheese, which I find a little strange, but it's a Midwestern thing, I think? Square cut is also not my preference. Have only had the thin crust pizza on several occasions and the mozzy sticks once, but I can say for sure that the pizza is very good and consistent. Crispy thickish thin crust, real mozzarella cheese, the right amount of toppings. The mozzarella sticks were yummy too, but I'm not sure how anyone could screw those up. Not sure what the gripes are about here. Not a lot of choices for real Chicago style thin crust pizza in the area and I'm glad to have this one nearby. Ordered a thin crust sausage pizza, wings and fries. The sauce on the pizza was very "tasty" and the crust was thin and crisp on the edges. The wings were also very "meaty" and were tossed with the right amount of buffalor sauce.
