The customer service here is horrible but the food is really good. Love their pizza, but I swear every encounter I've had, on the phone or in person, has been so depressing. It's like the staff just loathes working there and wishes you never came in. I started visiting this gem about a year ago and I've been very pleased with every item tried, so far;-) And it's all prepared individually so I can make changes. Well one half of the pizza was really good. Other half was completely burnt. They seemed nice there and I should of called to tell them about this but of Course I didn't even open the pizza till after the location was closed for the night. I know that this kind of thing happens but my pizza wasn't just a little over done. One half was burnt so I was a little disappointed that they obviously saw this before they handed it to me. Tonight I am going to have to give a very low rating. Usually the order is correct and food is good but tonight there were problems all the way around! We ordered 2 triple J sandwiches (we had done so before). In the description online it notes lettuce, tomato, onion & pickles. We asked for 1 without onion and the other no tomatoes and no onion. During the order the person taking the order said there's no onion on the sandwich. Ok, but it says it online we just want to make sure none is put on the sandwiches. We verified the jalapeño mayo was included, especially since the sandwich is to be spicy. Ordered 1cheese fries with sauce on the side (which is about $2.00 more than just plain fries. And 1 small fries. Because this was a pick up Of course you are handed a sealed / rolled closed bag. At home open and debagging No Cheese sauce. As we opens the sandwich boxes both sandwiches have Tomato--- one person is Allergic to Tomato! Food service orders should really adhere to dietary requirements. Had I bitten into my sandwich there would have been an immediate reaction! Now in regard to the sandwich flavor. It was supposed to be a Jerk Chicken sandwich.... It was Not! Very disappointing! Especially considering we had ordered the sandwich before. Went to Fat Ricky's in Romeoville and thought we would try the Plainfield location since we were in the mood for pizza and were in the neighborhood. Ordered the deep dish again with sausage, tomato and spinach. Just as the other location, it was perfect! The crust is the best I have ever had In a deep dish pizza! And the pizza at either location is the same. Delicious! Wish I could give 10 stars. We are from Florida and very few places there know how to make Chicago Pizza unless they came from Chicago!!! Let's just get to if. The slices that were served today were god awful. Just inexplicably terrible. I threw mine away. They were old and the people working there were not embarrassed to serve this junk. I was embarrassed for them just carrying it over to the table. Should have carried it right in the trash. I almost wanted to ask "you serve this to humans?" The hot dog took over 12 minutes to get and came out looking grayish. I didn't care for this food. So disappointing. Our family has been enjoying Fat Ricky's for many years. We always went to the Shorewood location, excellent pizza, great service and the best value around. This location closed its doors and we tried the Plainfield store last year. It was a so so pizza, nothing special. We tried it again tonight and it was horrible. We ordered a large deep dish with pepperoni all over and sausage on half. What we received was a burnt, dried out sauceless pizza with no pepperoni and about 6 chunks of sausage on the entire pie. PWhat happened to this place I don't know but we won't be back. We passed 7 pizza places on our way to pick up our pizza. We will be trying a new place soon. Fat Ricky's better step it up, there are so many good places to eat in the area and no one wants to spend money on a sloppy made pizza. read more

I just had the worst experience with this pizza place!!!! My son ordered 2 pepperoni pizzas. Fat Ricky's delivered cheese pizzas. When we called to complain and possibly return the pizzas the owner stated that they fulfilled their responsibility by delivering the (wrong) pizzas so they could give a 10% discount if we ordered 2 additional Pizzas. This is how an owner resolves their mistake??? What a douchebag!!!! By the way the cheese pizza super sucks!!!! Chicago has too many great pizza places to spend your money, please go else where. I've been to Fat Ricky's more times I can count - and there are a few things you definitely must know! -THEY ARE ALWAYS LATE. We've had it range from 5 minutes to 30 (as in, we got there for carry-out and they were just starting the pizza). So long as you realize that it's going to take longer than the time quoted (and show up a bit later), you shouldn't leave frustrated. -Make sure you use a coupon! Their deals are fabulous. We nearly always leave with an XL thin crust and a small deep dish. Even though they say one or two toppings (on the deal), we just add a few others for an extra price. -Try the Italian Beef pizza! For around $30, we usually have enough to serve at least 6 people (with leftovers). For good quality pizza, it's worth it. read more

We try to do a carry out order as often as possible because every time we order for delivery, we end up waiting 2 hours or more. Well here I am, on a Wednesday night no less, just passing the 90 min mark for my delivery (was told upon ordering that it would be delivered in 60 min). I didn't have another choice other than to have it delivered tonight. I hesitated at first, but decided to give it another shot. Before I give this review of this location, I just want you to know that I called them to address the situation, so in my mind I gave them an opportunity to fix the issue. On 11/27/2018, I went online and ordered two pizza pies, on veggie with no Onions and Olives and the other with sausage. When they arrived the veggie had what I didn't order on it. I called Fat Rickys and advised them of the problem, I was asked "Do you want to take ant action on this", now if someone calls to advise of a mistake, wouldn't you think that they want to take action and maybe offer some suggestions? I told the person yes I want to take action. He put me on the phone with someone who didn't ID himself as the Manager or Supervisor; anyway I told him of the problem with the Veggie pizza and he advised me that on the receipt it didn't specify the removal of the two items. I didn't want to argue but asked him to please remake the pie without those two items, he agreed. Upon receiving the second veggie pie, it had onion on it. I called them again to advise that the second pie had onion on it, and again was asked "Do you want to take action", I thought about it and said "No". My action is posting this review of the restaurant. Now this review is only for the location in Plainfield IL. Again, I don't like writing bad reviews, but people need to understand, when a customer ask for something it is expected. One thing I want to also mention, the cheese on the pizza was dark, so this tells me it was cooked too long. In summary, I wont order from this location again. Thx Greg G read more

We heard about the pizza at this place through a friend, and we love the pizza. We get the stuffed pizza and we all swooned over it. I really don't like the Chicago style size normally because the crusts taste like dough and the sauces have the chunky tomatoes. Just not my thing. Wow. Not to brag, but consider myself a connoisseur of Italian beef. It is one thing I've really missed since moving out of the city and into Plainfield. the Italian beef at Far Ricky's is incredible. So much so I recently was having a party for about 40 guests and decided just to cater Fat Ricky's Italian beef instead of worrying about cooking. Boy am I glad I did. My guests we're singing its praises, the prices were affordable, the driver was early and patient since we were not home when he got here and he had to wait a few minutes for us. We also got a pan of penne marinara and it was really good, not the usual mostacholi you usually get from a catering place that is dry and gross, this was awesome. Whether it is a large catering order or two sandwiches on a Saturday night I could not recommend the Plainfield Fat Ricky's more. You will be very glad you ate here. read more

Had a delivered medium artichoke pizza from them for $14 and free delivery. It took just over an hour to deliver and the pizza was definitely fresh out of the oven. The pizza had an excellent thick and gooey cheese and traditional sauce flavor but the crust was like a saltine cracker consistency. Very strange and not a lot of flavor. We also had a hard time finding artichokes in the pizza and only counted about 5 pieces between us both. Good pizza, you betchya. But would I pay $14 for another one? I been a long time customer of Fat Ricky's. As of last night, they lost my business. I placed an order with them last night. I received my order and while we where eating. My son asked me who was I auguring. I was like what ? Yeah, who ever delivered our food was cussing someone out. My son thought it was me. I checked my ring and turns out fat Ricky's delivery guy was not happy with his tip. He rolled down his window and started cussing his head off as he pulled out our driveway and rolled his window and kept cussing and giving us the finger as he drove away. I called the manger at fat Ricky's and he apologize for it and would credit us for our food. I told him we don't want your credit. You just lost a long time customer over the delivery guys you use. If he did this to me, imagine how many other customers he's done it to. Luckily for my ring camera. It recorded everything. Which he knew once he rang our doorbell. The funny to this, is when the delivery man should up at my door. He noticed I smelled something funny in the air. Which was marijuana smell. He tried telling me someone was smoking in our neighborhood. When I know it was him. I told the manager about that to. If fat Ricky's is hiring people like this to deliver us our food. I used to love the pizza from here. But lately, they have become sloppy. This last time, I ordered a pizza for pick up. An xl spinach and garlic with mushroom. There was so much sauce, the cheese and toppings were slipping off as you tried to grab a piece. Also, the sauce went to the edge, but the cheese and toppings did not. This place gets a "3" because my experiences have either been "5-star" or "2-star", meaning they're very inconsistent. It seems like every time I have ordered from here, the pizza looks and tastes different each time. Their "award winning deep dish pizza" lives up to the hype and is by far the best thing on their menu. However, they skimp on the toppings. It's worthy to note that I ordered a thin crust pizza with sausage and black olives. When I arrived to pick it up, I was told that the kitchen staff forgot to put the olives on and they were going to fix it. Hey...it happens. I understand that mistakes happen, but their way of fixing it was throwing a bunch of olives on an already cooked pizza. That shows two things....#1...They're lazy and #2....They're cheap. The correct thing to do would have been to make a new pizza and I haven't been back since. To be fair, I rated this place on an overall scale, rather than focusing on a particular visit. read more

First tried this pizza a few weeks ago and loved the deep dish. Called tonight and the opted to pick up the pizza being there was a 60-90 minute wait for both delivery and carry-out. 20 people were waiting for their food when my husband walked in and one guy called at 6:10 pm (we called at 6:30) and they hadn't even made his pizza. After waiting another 25 minutes past the time we was told to get there (7:45 pm) come to find out the 2 boxes sitting on the counter for those 25 minutes were ours. Crust was hard all the way around, bottom too. So very disappointed and I will be calling them to speak to an adult manager tomorrow - 4 high school kids were running the place and obviously had no idea what was going on. Very small area for dining in - opt for delivery and cross your fingers they didn't forget you AND made you the right food. read more
