Delicious! Jerk chicken - very tender. I got the collard greens and green beans with it - both delicious. Not overcooked. I didn't realize it came with corn bread - so was very pleasantly surprised. They're sides are incredible!!! Mac&Cheese just creamy goodness, Sweet Potatoes like pie and the Collards...Yum!!! This is my first review but I have eaten here several times. Based on my last order I would give this location 5 stars but I am giving it 4 stars because their quality isn't always consistent. Typically always good but sometimes not great. This is typically the case My most recent order was the fried whiting dinner which came with 2 sides. I ordered the string beans and the candied yams which are my absolute favorite at this location. The whiting was hot, fresh, and well seasoned. The string beans were delicious as well. Although I was disappointed with my macaroni and cheese on my last order I took a chance and ordered it as an additional side dish and this time it was very good. Nice cheesy and hot as opposed to last time where it was dried out. The ONLY negative is that the cornbread SUCKS! I love cornbread and it completes the meal. I think maybe the should switch to biscuits. read more

Came back for the ox tail and it DID NOT disappoint. I really like how the meat melted off the bones and then I was able to chew on the soft cartilage. My friend and I shared the ox tail and the jerk chicken. Our sides were the candied yams, Mac and cheese, and collard greens. I really really like the candied yams. I thought the mac and cheese was my favorite but the candied yams stood out. At first I thought it was gonna be really sweet, and I don't really have a sweet tooth, but the way it was done made it both sweet and savory. Overall my buddy and I had a really good time here. So today my sister and I ventured out to pick up some food on our lunch, and let me tell you, it was amazing!! As a soul & Caribbean food connoisseur (lmao) this place is as good as it gets. They give you healthy size portions, worth every penny. I couldn't finish it all in 1 sitting, but trust me that didn't stop me from thinking about what i want to order next (likely a fried whiting platter yummm). Came here the other day with my boyfriend and the food had an "amazing taste". I got the oxtail with rice and collard greens. The oxtail was tastes, it was cooked in a thick gravy that was seasoned to perfection. The collard greens was also seasoned very nicely. My boyfriend got the two piece whiting with mac and cheese and candied yams. All were equally delicious. To wash everything down, we got the uptown iced tea, which was a bit too sweet for my taste, but my boyfriend loved it since he has a sweet tooth. All in all, everything was spectacular. This place gets quite busy too, so plan your visit wisely. There location is also pretty tiny so I would probably order out if you are having a party of 5 or more. Would I recommend it? YES. My husband and I finally had the chance to try this place out and we are so happy we did. The menu is simple but it works because what they had up are their specialties. The folks there are very friendly. I ordered the oxtails with a side of Mac and cheese and an extra side of candied yams. My husband ordered the bbq chicken with a side of green beans. Both orders came with yellow rice and cornbread. First off, the oxtails were cooked tender and I loved the sauce/gravy. The yams and Mac and cheese went great with it. The bbq chicken was moist and flavorful and the green beans were tasty. I could probably eat a tray of the cornbread because it was light and flavorful. I was watching a show on Tv and saw Soul Food, immediately I thought of Amazing Taste since they are my Soul Food Spot for the area. Very sad to say since i grew up in Plainfield but some how can't find a soul spot in a City that should rule soul spots. The Last amazing soul spot was here back in the day on the east end. I think it was called Georgia Peach owned by the Cook Family. Anyway back to the subject. Amazing taste, I just read that review that calls out your disrespect and rudeness. Well reviews do matter but so does personal experience. I think I am going on 10-12x at this spot and have never had the "Dry $&$ Chicken"(Not stated by me) but I have had the oxtails, Whiting, jerk empanada, collards, yams, Mac and cheese. Awesome and always tasty. Every time I walk in, I believe your older son is the one that is always there. Omg!!! Was in the area at a soccer game and found Amazing Taste on yelp with great reviews and decided to give it a try and MAN and am I glad we did. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. The menu is typical southern fare. We had the jerked chicken which had a nice amount of heat, the baked chicken, both falling off the bone. I had the oxtails which were sofa king good. The sides: collard greens that had a nice vinegary tang, sweet potatoes, yellow rice, the fabulous corn bread and we also had an empanada. Fairly priced. We had 4 dinners and 4 drinks and it was $54 not including tip. The whole experience was top notch. My 10 year old said "this is not the last time were coming here" and even though it's 40 minutes away, she's right. You want some great soul food, amazing taste lives up to their name!! read more

Not my first but probably my last time trying to eat 'good' soul food in Jersey. Amazing Taste was unsatisfactory. Ordered jerk chicken dinner that comes with two sides but because of excuses there were no yams, potato salad or iced tea! Your cornbread was served wrapped in foil even though we dined in the restaurant. Two empanadas came on one plate even though there were two of us. We both were served a chicken leg & half a thigh. We NEVER eat legs! When we complained we were given more excuses about the oven, throwing food away & the manager stated I'll give you one thigh out of his good heart.
