Was interested to see how this place worked and had a promo coupon loaded, so I stopped in. To enter, open up your Amazon Shopping app on your phone and then scroll the bar to the right until you see "In-Store Code". (The bar is near the top in my app on my Samsung, under the search field. Right now it has "Early Black Friday Deals", "Holiday Gift Guide", "Groceries", and "Pharmacy" before you get to In-Store Code.) Click on that and your phone will generate a QR code that you scan at the turnstile to go in. After that, it's pretty simple. Grab whatever you want and then walk out. (I mostly stuck to prepared food items as the regular grocery type stuff seemed a lot more expensive than, say, Ralphs.) It knows what you took. How? I have no idea. Are they tracking each item? Maybe. Does someone go back and watch a video of what you did in the store? Maybe. (Hmm, I was joking, but is that why it takes a couple hours to receive your receipt? I wonder...) I was impressed that my receipt came out perfectly. I had a $5 off $15 coupon loaded, and it was used. I ordered a sandwich for $6 that was on sale from and labeled as $7.99, and $1.99 was deducted. I grabbed a soda and chips for $2 with my hot sandwich, and their prices were also reduced accordingly. I even made sure to spend over $15 on the final bill to get a $5 credit on my next order, and I received it a few hours later via email. The only downside was how long it took to get my cuban sandwich. It's clearly because the employees are still new. I wouldn't say it was all that busy when I went in (on a Sunday before noon), but I felt like I waited a long time for the sandwich. The workers were very nice and the hot sandwich product was pretty good. I would expect that over time they will get faster and faster at pumping those out. But for now, if you're in a rush, just grab your stuff off the shelves. According to Amazon itself, my visit took 22 minutes and 43 seconds. read more

It is exciting to try the "Go" experience where you scan your Amazon code when entering and then walk out with your items - no checkout! The items are things you can find at any gas station or convenient store which was a little disappointing. There's really no point to go out of my way to come back here due to the lack of unique items. If I happen to be in the area and find myself in need of a snack I guess I would come back! The place was very clean and organized. I got a self-serve Starbucks coffee, a couple snacks, and ordered a salad from the fresh food section. I ordered from their iPad and saw that the employees weren't starting my order but just standing around so I had to ask if I ordered correctly. It took about 5 mins for this very basic salad. I've been here twice. You start by scanning your store barcode from the Amazon app to gain entrance. Plenty of convenience store items, but the aisles are wider, the lighting better and the selection a bit more upscale. At the back, they have some self-service machines (froyo, coffee, soda, icees) and you can order fresh food via a screen. I've had both the avocado toast and the grilled cheese, each of which were a good value (especially as everything has gotten so expensive). You simply walk out and a receipt is mailed to you a bit later. Both times, mine have been accurate, but it is a bit of a strange experience to just walk out and hope your receipt turns out correctly. It's not especially convenient for me, but if I'm in the neighbohood, I'd definitely stop in. read more

Well, it's a unique shopping experience. Is this the future, or is it just another experiment that will never see success, we have to wait and watch. You are asked to swipe a code from your Amazon phone app as you enter the shop. There are zillion cameras on top of your head all around the shop to continuously monitor what you are picking up from aisle etc. And then you just walk out. That's it, no counter, no checkout. You will get your receipt on your Amazon account similar to your online purchases. Definitely convenient, the shop as such is small with limited items. May be they will expand it to bigger one seeing how it pans out. If you are a prime member, you get free any drink hot beverages only until July 3. No purchase is necessary. Parking is convenient. The sandwich/burger prices were decent. Didn't taste it so can't comment on it. Overall, the prices of all items were fair, I guess that's the main intent. read more

Worst post futuristic, black-mirror, convenient store experience I've ever had!! I have never been to "Amazon Go" so I thought I would go on a lunch break to get a salad or sandwich there real quick. I had absolute No Idea what to expect! When I got there, I tried to walk in and bummed into the gate. I noticed a weird hand scanner to my left (where it said place Palm). So I hovered my palm over the glowing orange light till in turned green. I was asking random shoppers for help and no one couldn't seem to hear me. They could clearly hear me yet didn't want to help as if they were part of some exclusive club. I noticed an usual amount of teslas parked outside. I was think these people also had their brains automated and are echoing the same non-humanity of technology's inability to feel emotion. Having an urgency to get a lunch for a 30 minute break I couldn't sit there and sign up for Amazon One and sign up my soul, data & taste to another corporation wanting feed its algorithm. I didn't see one employee there to assist with this and I left bothered and disturbed. No thanks, I'm not a bot. I'm good on that Amazon, I'll go to 711 have real human interactions and my fave neighborhood spots for call in take out. read more

Really cool concept! After you connect your Amazon account when entering and scanning the QR code and choosing your credit card to use, you're good to go! When I went, they also had a 10% discount when you scanned the QR code. It's like a convenience store but you don't have to pay at a register or check out cause it knows when you've picked up an item and when you've left and then charges you then. I got a warm Cuban sandwich from the deli since there was also a $5 sandwich deal. I also got an almond croissant and ham and cheese croissant from the case. Their ready made food seem the best deal to me because the snacks and frozen food seemed overpriced. They also have a wine section. I'm never reluctant to admit when I am wrong. It's a year later and this place is still in business (I predicted demise within a year). I use the place for the Amazon Locker, and occasionally I'll purchase a drink or a snack. The place almost always has cars in the lot, and patrons inside. So, good for them. Amazon amazon amazoonnnnnnn! I am very glad Amazon is opening up in the area. This place is the literal embodiment of GRAB & GO, literally! It was confusing at first, because it was my first time, but it's really so simple. Scan your QR from amazon and choose the card on your file that you want to pay with OR scan your palm and swipe the card you'll be paying with. You just go around the store grabbing whatever you need, and then you simple walk out when you're finished. Amazon will charge your card after you've left the store. It's SO so easy. -1 star because i feel that the place can use a little bit more variety with their taps and fresh/hot food situation. Also, there is staff there to make your food or to assist you with any help you might need. It's very clean and it feels familiar yet somehow new. Unsure of my true feelings. It was really cool. It would be a great place to stop in on vacation. It has a little bit of everything which makes it the perfect place. It gives off one stop shop for minor things. And you can also do returns. I don't think their food is impressive enough for it to be the only reason to go. I think if you need to make a return or pick up something it's nice you could grab lunch. It's close to a Target, Ralphs, and a gas stations. Other than doing stuff for Amazon I don't see a reason I'd stop in. It's just a place you'd try out but as for daily or even weekly use. Nah! I'm unclear of what vibe it's going for but it does not give off, "Let me run to Amazon Go really quick." Or any other reason than to pick up or drop off Amazon stuff. Oh and it's in the same parking lot as a Walmart. And it's walking distance from Target. No place to actually eat the food you'd get from there. I can't see far. I just realize today there's more cameras than there were food I don't mind cause I couldn't see anyway so I don't feel bothered. I like it here it's convenient and you self serve. There are half a dozen employees in the store at any given time cause they had people making sandwiches, doing returns, in the freezer stocking, and I saw a few running around in the kitchen. Was excited to try this new concept out but unfortunately was underwhelmed. I expected a much larger product selection similar to a neighborhood market but without the checkout line. It felt more like a convenience store product line, like 7-11 but with higher prices and still less selection. 7-11's have very quick cashiers and no lineups. Wine was marked up 20% or more similar to a liquor store or caps and corks nearby. So im unsure what void this concept is trying to fill but it is novel to have no cashier. I think that could be better applied to a much larger product selection and competitive pricing. read more

I went to Amazon Go to return a product. I am writing this to praise the employee who was at the return desk - Keri. She was so helpful and patient with me. I was new to my smart phone and did not have the Amazon app. I said, "I'll try to figure it out at home. I don't want to take up your time." There was no one else for her to take care of, so she said, "Let me help you." She did a great job of showing and explaining the process to me. I also purchased a sandwich. Finally have a moment to post on what an amazing the Amazon Go store is in Torrance - when they say it is truly incredible shopping experience I would like to add it is an incredible stress free experience with the best customer service! Most importantly though is the people - the concept is you can manage your time and just go in, grab what you need, or browse all the unique items that somehow are just what you need, grab a fresh cup of coffee or one of their special food items such as their breakfast burritos - our daughters favorite! But it is the people we actually enjoy when we look up they are always there with a smile on their face - usually greeting us or seamlessly wherever we have a need. It is a rarity these days to see so many people ready and willing to provide assistance in a self checkout concept environment! Most recently they had a coffee promotion - even with the myriad of people rushing for their coffee and grabbing additional items all the counters were seamlessly cleaned up when we went back around to grab just one more thing! Attention to detail even when the store appeared to have been the busiest I have ever seen it is quite refreshing and inviting. Would love to bring a laptop and work while I enjoy a cup of coffee experience type of setting if it was offered of course. The growth with the Amazon Go store in Torrance over the past several months is quite surprising - Amazon did not just build and open a store but there appears to be continuous improvement within the space and changes with the offerings for the customers - there is always something new every time we come in. I think Amazon is listening to the customers - so recommend submitting requests if there is that one thing you are always looking for and would love to just be able to come in grab and go. For us it is the tasty food such as the breakfast burritos and other food items for the day, coffee and a personal favorite the Laffy Taffy in cherry - somehow we have finally found a store that carries a long time favorite of ours. As some commenters state the experience is like no other, that combines innovation, convenience and friendly store. I have been in a few Amazon Go stores to include up in Seattle and by far this location and the people here are the best - quite approachable and always offering support. They not only provide assistance but take their time to actually ask us how our day is going. Wish they had Amazon Go stores when our daughters were younger - but sincerely appreciate the store now even more so for the convenience and quality of care and products presented. Glancing through a few comments I noted one comment about a shortage of cup sleeves but recognized the store had a a special promotion drawing in many people with their people providing amazing customer service I would never let a cup sleeve spoil my experience. Our daughter actually said that it is odd people still use cup sleeves when we are supposed to be saving the planet. We do not use cup sleeves and usually just place the cup in our Yeti and enjoy without the additional use of paper products. The photos from other customers demonstrate how spotless this store is even when they are extremely busy with an apparent process in place to keep all areas tidy - as anybody can observe if they are there for several minutes - the workers seamlessly walk through continuously picking up and refilling the stock. Recommend taking a moment to visit the store, keep on visiting and watch the continuous growth - the past several months are a perfect reflection of what the right people working together can do - I can only imagine what the growth will look like several months from now! First time at this store. An employee by the name of Emily is disrespectful! I told her it was my first time at the store and asked if i could order the food with her, she proceeded to say "you do it at the kiosk don't you see" I ordered a burrito and once she takes the burrito out the oven she slams it on the counter. After touching screens and other things in the kitchen area she then grabs my burrito! Why would someone touch other things and not change gloves after doing so?? This is like 711, but nicer! It's a little strange just walking in an out, but it makes everything faster. The food is good- they have precooked meals you can microwave, fresh sandwiches you can get in the deli, and a large variety of refrigerated items like sushi! The service is great- there are a few employees on site, but the ones there are helpful. There are electric chargers there too, but unfortunately Tesla owners ALWAYS hog it up by leaving it there and not shopping at the store! This is my inly complaint, especially for people who just want to top off their charge while waiting. Tesla owners, PLEASE DO NOT HOG THE CHARGERS! THAT's why you have your fast chargers! Don't ruin it for the rest of us! If you can afford a Tesla, charge it somewhere else!!! An Amazon return led to my first visit to Amazon Go. I will be back for sure. Had a nice affordable menu with breakfast options and sandwiches and it includes a drink. They also had a good selection of premade meals which included salads, sandwiches and hot items. - it all looked really good. They have a nice set up for coffee - hot and iced, lattes, two cold brew options which I will try next time. When I dropped off my return with the very nice guy working there (told him it was my first time and he gave gave me a quick run down on how the store works and pointed me to a few QR codes that gave me $2 off $5 and $3 off for 3 visits. They also had a free Tote bag offer going on. Store was well designed and very clean. Upon arrival, you can scan a in-store code from your Amazon account and fill up your bag with what you want and then you just walk out! It felt a little strange ...but what a convenience and Amazon will email your receipt to you, tell you how long your shopping experience was(which honestly, kind of freaked me out. and my return was posted very quickly.
