Review #946 2026-010 Donuts Order: 20 Donuts (includes Buttermilk, Old Fashioned, Raspberry Jelly, Vanilla Frosted with Sprinkles, Cream Puff, etc.) + 7 Donut Holes; TooGoodToGo Surprise Bag: $6.62 ($5.99 + sales tax) I've been to Doughboy Donuts & Bagel a handful of times since I moved to the South Bay about 2 decades ago. In the earlier days, the donut shop was supposedly opened 24/7 (at least the hours were posted so on Yelp) but I never had a middle of the night/morning run. Since then, I may stop by afterwards when I'm at the plaza for lunch at Katsu Bar (refer to Review #891) or boba at Sharetea (refer to Review #393). Doughboy Donuts & Bagel is not quite the standard mom & pop donut shop since they also have a smoothies & breakfast menu that includes bagels, croissant sandwiches, & breakfast burritos. The shop is on the north end of Jade Plaza, off the busy corner of Crenshaw & Lomita Blvds., across from Torrance Crossroads. The service is iffy at best... not knowing if I'm welcomed with a warm smile or the feeling of "what do you want" as if I'm a bother. Yikes! I find myself returning more since I joined the TooGoodToGo movement of food waste in 06/2025. TGTG offer 2 options at Doughboy Donuts & Bagel: $3.99 or $5.99 Surprise Bag with a 10-hr. pick-up window between 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM. DD&B has largest pick-up window, & the boxes are usually ready at the time of redemption. My daughter was hanging out with her friends at the local bowling alley (kinda belated birthday & summer hangout), & I didn't want to serve cake so this TGTG surprise bag was the perfect sweet treat to accompany the other snacks served. This was my 6th TGTG & 2nd donut shop. Since I picked them up late afternoon, I'm guessing TGTG surprise bag was either leftovers from yesterday or/or this morning's breakfast rush (hours are from 3:00 AM - 10:00 PM); I stopped in at 10:30 AM. I informed the server that I'm doing a TGTG pick-up & she sorta shouted "how many" (I'm guessing some people order more than 1 bag?); I reached over the counter so she could see my phone showing a $6.99 surprise bag & swiped for redemption. I saw her assemble that ubiquitous pink box & went back to fill it. In the meantime, I walked around & took some pics, particularly the menu (so I don't get sticker shock on future visits); the going rate is $1.85/donut but it doesn't mention the fancies, cronuts, etc. which I'm fairly certain has a higher price point. The older lady was quite rude when she came out with my box, shouting at me for taking pics. Ehhh... hello... are you not aware that you have a Yelp business page which is claimed by someone at Doughboy Donuts & Bagel. While she didn't threaten to withhold my paid TGTG box, her body language basically said "delete the pics or else." I didn't have time so I showed her I deleted the pics, then she handed over my box. \(`0´)/ I got 20 donuts & 7 donut holes, about 4.5-lbs. worth: I weighed it when I got home. Yes I supposedly deleted the pics, but they were sitting in the trash so I retrieve them & posted. DD&B might have an issue with their customers taking & posting pics since the last ones I could find were a year ago. O_o Normally, a dozen donuts is $17.99, & TGTG's estimated value was $18.00, given that I received 20 donuts & 7 donut holes, I definitely got my money's worth! Even after that eventful pick-up, I returned again because I wanted to have some summer treats for my friend's summer BBQ party & tell her about TGTG & its partners. I dropped in closer to the TGTG closing window, & had the easiest pick-up with a friendly younger lady. I was in & out in a min. & left the car running with my fam in the car... it was that fast! I forgot to snap a pic, but I do remember it being equally heavy as the 1st & with more variety, including my fav: cinnamon roll. DD&B has a large variety of donuts & competitive prices in line with the area. They're fresh, though not fresh, hot like Sidecar Doughnuts & Coffee down the street. I like Doughboy Donuts & Bagels, but wouldn't go out of my way for them, particularly when I'm playing Russian Roulette (not quite... but just for the randomness of service) with the server/cashier. If it's a regular visit, not TGTG, I would turn around & head out if I see that older lady behind the counter. Recommended: Cinnamon Roll, Cinnamon Crumb, Apple Fritter, Cronut, Cruller, Cream Puff, Jelly.

This place is close to my work and I wanted a bagel. Their selection was not amazing, though the two I normally prefer were available: everything and onion. I got the everything, toasted with cream cheese, tomatoes, and onion. Their bagel did not skimp on the everything part. It had all the stuff on the top and bottom. It was a little overwhelming. They did not skimp on the tomatoes or onions either, though each cost 50 cents each. The entire bagel price was $5.50, which is not inexpensive. The place has a small customer area. You can't tell what the name is from outside. I figured there wasn't another "donuts and bagels" place near this intersection. I ate the bagel back at work. The amount of everything on it was more than I prefer. It was the most "everything" i've ever had or seen on a bagel. It looked and was overwhelming. There was no balance. You have to give them credit for not being cheap; but it lacked subtlety, if that's an appropriate bagel term. The server was pleasant and quick. No complaints there. I just did not love the bagel. But maybe that's just me.

A nice breakfast stop on the corner here (Lomita/Crenshaw) - with a little of everything done well - donuts, bagels (quite good, not quite NY but pretty decent!) and breakfast sandwiches and drinks. Not really room to sit or a stay-in to eat ambiance, but perfect for us locals to grab and go back home to share with the family or head to work. The ladies working were super nice and helpful, creating a warm and welcoming feel when you walk in. A nice local 'donut' and bagel place all in one!

This place is pretty close to my house but I've never tried it until recently. It's got the interior of most small mom and pop donut shops, there are tables but no chairs to sit and it's relatively small. They have a large array of donuts, bagels, sandwiches to choose from and everything is pretty fresh if you get there early enough. My favorite is that they have mini versions of their jelly filled and Boston donuts because they are the perfect size for someone who isn't SUPER into donuts (me). I've never had an issue with their service being anything but kind and helpful, but I've only gone twice. I'll be back sporadically for their mini donuts or bagels. I hope they add more mini options :)

During my freebies birthday run yesterday, I was planning on going to Old Ferry Donut after picking up a boba next door, only to find the shop closed. \(`0´)/ Known for unique flavors & vibrant retro-pop 70s branding (cute hamster mascot with bold orange & brilliant blue colors; it's featured on 2-/4-donut boxes), this Korean-inspired premium donut shop originated in Seoul a decade ago before expanding to several S. CA locations, opening in Torrance a couple of years ago. OFD's donuts are popular for its rich creams & chewy dough; Butter Pistachio & Crème Brûlée are just 2 of their signature flavors. I was going through a donut phase when I initially stopped by Old Ferry Donut. Large windows let lots of light in, & once you step across the threshold, you're hit with a strong K-pop vibe & loud music. They even had a collab with SEVENTEEN last fall during their tour with 2 flavors: Marble Strawberry & Blue Coconut! Unlike the regular mom & pop's or commercialized donut shops, they don't offer a discounted 1/2 or full dozen box. After asking what's their most popular picks, I chose Butter Pistachio & Crème Brûlée, & added Lemon Poppyseed & Raspberry Ring for myself, Cookies & Cream & Boston Cream for the kiddos. Service was alright... I didn't need a sales pitch, but would like some info on the donuts to make an informed decision since they're at a premium price even though they're not "freshly made" (every hour or less) like SD&C just down the street. The Butter Pistachio is a major hit... fluffy & light, a slightly chewy yeasty donut stuffed with a mildly sweet whipped pistachio cream filling & topped with a salty-sweet buttery streusel... how can you not be addicted? And totally worth it! Crème Brûlée is also popular for its delicate, crackly caramelized sugar crust & airy brioche dough that's filled with a rich vanilla custard. Good flavor, but maybe on the older side? Since it's been sitting for awhile, it lost that fresh fluffy texture & was kinda dry. I really liked the Lemon Poppyseed; it's right up there with Butter Pistachio. The lemon glaze is just the right amount of sweet & tart, & the donut was fresh & fluffy! The Raspberry Ring is pretty good, matching that sweet & tart of Lemon Poppyseed, but I like the citrus zing of the latter more. What's different is the former has a raspberry jam filling in addition to a glaze & the latter is just a yeast donut with fruity glaze. Kids didn't say much about Cookies & Cream & Boston Cream... I figure you can't go wrong with these flavors. The filling might have been a bit much as I saw the cream oozing out of the donut & onto my LO's face & shirt. His sister was slightly better at containing the custard blob. LOL With premium prices, It's debatable if Old Ferry's donuts are worth it... quality, freshness, & size. Hmmm... I like them & their creative flavors, but they're a tad too sweet & not as "fresh" in comparison to SD&C. Sad to see Old Ferry Donut permanently gone from the South Bay, but they still have locations in San Gabriel & Buena Park if you're willing to take a drive. Recommended: Boston Cream $3.95 Butter Pistachio $4.95 Cookies & Cream $3.95 Crème Brûlée $4.95 Lemon Poppyseed $3.95 Raspberry Ring $3.95

Both are high quality, but their cake donuts are just way too dense and chewy for my liking. They get your order incorrect 80% of the time {in my experience} and on top of not being able to get your correct order, you are charged fees and delivery. And for this reason, restaurants should be extra careful). I was given a plain ham and cheese croissant, not Jalepeño, which I personally don't care for. Extremely disappointing considering how much I love this item. To add insult to injury, the pastry I received implies, in my opinion, that the employee who made it does not care about their job--The croissant had two tiny, bunched up and hard pieces of ham, just on one side of the croissant, and no cheese inside. It was extremely bland, not what I ordered, and absolutely not worth any amount of money. I threw it away after one bite. I will be purchasing from Randy's munch less often because after this experience, I no longer trust their standards and I won't always have the opportunity to quality check my order. It has that perfect texture where it almost melts in your mouth with every bite, without ever feeling too heavy or overpowering. Pair it with a fresh coffee in the morning and it's hard to beat. I've noticed some people complaining about the credit card processing fee, but personally, I think supporting small businesses means understanding the realities of running one. Places like this aren't giant chains with massive corporate margins, they're LOCAL spots that have been serving the community for years and doing it well. If a small processing fee helps them continue making great food, and staying afloat in an increasingly expensive market, that feels like a fair trade-off to me. I'd much rather support a family-run shop like this than see places with real character disappear. If you don't like the fee, you can simply pay with cash next time.
