I thought the overall experience was just okay. I have urban plates before and thought it was good, but this time around, i can't express the same feelings. The mac and cheese needs lots of work. it was watered down and pasta was overcooked. The fish was good and flaky, which was nice, and the mushroom were cool. I had takeout for lunch today from Urban Plates. Urban Plates is one of my favorite places because the food is both healthy and tasty. I visited the Woodland Hills location during the COVID pandemic a long time ago, and I hadn't been back since then. Today, I happened to be in Torrance, and there was an Urban Plates on the first floor of the building I visited, so I was happy and excited to stop by. I ordered the Grilled Steak Plate and chose the truffle aioli sauce on the side. The sauce was absolutely delicious. For my side dishes, I picked mashed potatoes and quinoa, and both were so good. The steak itself was also very flavorful. Everything I ordered was delicious. The restaurant was very clean and well maintained, and all the staff members were very kind and friendly. I truly enjoyed the entire experience. If there were a location closer to my home, I would definitely visit more often. read more

I think we caught them on an off day. The floors were littered with trash and our food was mediocre. We both had burgers and the buns were cold and hard. The fries were lukewarm. Price point was fair enough, but I would happily spend more for better execution of the menu. We did notice the manager was on a cash register. Maybe there were call outs. Hoping this was an off day for you guys. We walked in at approximately 7:45. Left disappointed I spent money on mediocre food. I had the chicken club with a side of very dry basmati rice, couldn't finish it. The side of chips were almost stale. Had the pineapple coconut & lime juice. Not much of a lime flavor actually came off as "minty". My friend was also served dry basmati rice with some over cooked shrimp. Wished they were bigger to match the price of the plate. Another friend who had the classic chicken tenders enjoyed them. Flavorful and the Texture was there. A third friend was served the Buffalo tenders, which are usually drenched in sauce, however were not. I noticed upon entering that the floors were dirty, scattered with debris, trash, and spills. I decided to see how long it would take for any of the mess to be cleaned, but it wasn't. It actually took a long while for servers to even clear the tables. I also noticed that all the tables and chairs were disorganized. Because of the messiness of both the seating and the environment, when my family and I tried to find a place to sit, we couldn't. Had such a great experience at Urban Plates. The food quality was amazing, everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and well prepared. Finally tried the Urban Plates in Torrance. At other locations I've felt overwhelmed but this location is very easy to understand. The food was terrific and just right. Really disappointed with my experience at Urban Plates tonight. The food arrived ice cold, greasy, oily, and honestly just disgusting. Within hours my stomach started hurting badly, and I've now been dealing with stomach issues for the last 24 hours. I came home and had explosive diarrhea after eating there. I order from Urban Plates often! My go to is usually their chicken sandwich or their Morrocan Chicken Braise. I usually prefer to order their chicken sandwich since it's the most filling and comes with chips and another side. Only thing that would make this better is if they toast the bread. I usually end up toasting the bread myself. The Moroccan Chicken Braise I really love the flavors and tastes really good with rice and veggies. I really wish they gave more chicken pieces. When I had the catered version of this dish they had so many pieces of chicken but it's definitely not as good when there's small chicken pieces in it. Otherwise I would order it more. The salmon is also good option it's cooked and season perfectly. For the sides options: I would recommend the brussel sprouts and their tomato soup. I used to get their potatoes or mushrooms as sides but they tend to over salt them so i usually get the brussel sprouts or the tomato soup. Overall I highly recommend this place! The chili glazed tofu was very flavorful and had a good texture. The glaze is also very yummy. The cauliflower was good but not very warm when I received it. The service was great, they had a person going around giving free cookie samples (although I was disappointed they didn't have any vegan desserts). Wow!!! What an exceptional experience I had at Urban Plates. This is my second time visiting this location and the service exceed my expectations. I rarely ever come here as I don't crave the food they have, but this time I was feeling Urban Plates. Upon walking in, I was greeted with a smile and help from an employee with a red beard which I think his name was Jin M. Inside is super nice, with plenty of seating, the environment and atmosphere is great, and the food itself was delicious. The steak I had ordered was perfectly cooked, topped off with the delicious teriyaki sauce. For my sides, I had gotten the brussel sprouts and the mashed potatoes, both cooked perfect. They have outdoor/patio seating which is covered and shaded. They have a little bar area to get water, utensils, and all their condiments from. They have a nice selection of hot sauces too. We decided to have Thanksgiving dinner after a stellar recommendation from a friend who gets the take home dinners. There was a separate line for prepaid Thanksgiving meals and it took me a minute to find the order line. There were other options besides turkey dinner but I was there for turkey. The dinner included turkey, dressing, cranberry relish and one side. I chose mashed potatoes and a beet salad. The salad was an extra side. Dinner was delicious but there was very little gravy on the dish. When I asked for a side of gravy I was given a teeny to go container. Came on a Saturday and waited in line to order food and then sat down. Water is served at a separate table where you can find utensils and different types of hot sauces. I got the Chop Chop Turkey salad ($17) and my husband got the Morracan Chicken Braised Bowl ($14.95). I got the dressing tossed in but you can also ask for it on the side. I think there's balsamic vinegar in it and its a bit tangy. It took a few bites for me to really start enjoying the salad. With chunks of turkey, tomato and cucumbers, there's a bit of everything in one bite. However I think it needed something...like Cholula in it. That made it pretty spicy with added chopped jalapeños in it. The Bowl was good too. The mashed potatoes were buttery and the kabocha added some sweetness and nice texture to the meal. It also wasn't over salted which is always a win. There's plenty of room inside with rustic decor and an outside patio. If you're on a health kick this is a great option for lunch or dinner.
