Try the ranch dressing with dill if you don't like spicy (dressing that comes with this salad). Order a Cowgirl cookie if you like soft, fresh Oatmeal Cranberry cookies. Great casual, healthy, sit-down restaurant at reasonable prices (especially if you sign-up for Plate Pass to get discounts)! Previously I reviewed the Chicken Club sandwich (also excellent). The place looked really nice inside. Brought my god daughter here to grab a bite. She joined a soccer camp for the week which was only a few minutes away. They practice for almost 5-6 hours. So she was hungry and tired. She got the kid's steak with Mac & cheese. I got the steak with chimichurri, Mac & cheese, and carrots... Plus their coconut drink. Sadly, the food just sucked. The steaks were not great. Very chewy, not flavorful. The Mac and cheese was watery .... You're expecting a good cheese flavor. That was not this... I had ordered a coconut drink. What are you supposed to do after spending a few hours at the beach and needing some food after? Easy, you head over to Urban Plates for some food and curb that hunger. I'm currently sitting inside of Urban Plates after ordering the surf and turf combo which includes the Grilled Grass Fed steak, Garlic Parmesan Shrimp, Mashed Potatoes, and Macaroni and Cheese (I picked the sides). The food was and is fantastic. This is my second time visiting an Urban Plates and my second visit only made me like it more. The macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes are both things I've had before and both are top notch good. I got bread crumbs on my macaroni and cheese and it's the little things that make things so much more enjoyable. The mashed potatoes and gravy weren't anything super special, but they tasted great and well well with the steak especially. The steak comes cut up for you (convenient) and was cooked just the way I wanted it, while the Garlic Parmesan shrimp had wonderful flavour and were the first thing I devoured. Overall, Urban Plates is one of my favourite lunch spots in all of SoCal. The food here is freshly made and tastes great, the restaurant itself is super clean and looks great (lots of wood and dark colours which I very much like), and a super friendly staff that takes your orders, delivers the food, and helps out when they can. Manuel took care of us today with a smile on his face and I will absolutely be back in the future, especially since I DETEST posting restaurant reviews without a photo but I straight up attacked the plate as soon as it was put down in front of me. I had takeout for lunch today from Urban Plates. Urban Plates is one of my favorite places because the food is both healthy and tasty. I visited the Woodland Hills location during the COVID pandemic a long time ago, and I hadn't been back since then. Today, I happened to be in Torrance, and there was an Urban Plates on the first floor of the building I visited, so I was happy and excited to stop by. I ordered the Grilled Steak Plate and chose the truffle aioli sauce on the side. The sauce was absolutely delicious. For my side dishes, I picked mashed potatoes and quinoa, and both were so good. The steak itself was also very flavorful. Everything I ordered was delicious. The restaurant was very clean and well maintained, and all the staff members were very kind and friendly. I truly enjoyed the entire experience. If there were a location closer to my home, I would definitely visit more often. read more

Good food, very nice ambience. A great place for casual lunches, lots of office workers nearby. I like the utilization of fresh farm-to-table ingredients and high quality proteins. Their beef is certified angus grass fed. I had the burger special ($11) which is a good price for a good-quality burger with fries included!! I had it lettuce wrapped and it was the daintiest, cutest little wrap. I have never seen such care into assembly and been able to eat a lettuce wrap so easily before! My fam got the buffalo chicken sandwich which was noted to be a little lackluster - it just needed an extra component like some sort of green or a toasted bun. They also got the half soup/ sandwich combo which was amazinggggg tomato soup but again, a lackluster sandwich. I would come again, even just for the fries, which were spectacular!!! Hoping this was an off day for you guys. We walked in at approximately 7:45. Left disappointed I spent money on mediocre food. I had the chicken club with a side of very dry basmati rice, couldn't finish it. The side of chips were almost stale. Had the pineapple coconut & lime juice. Not much of a lime flavor actually came off as "minty". My friend was also served dry basmati rice with some over cooked shrimp. Wished they were bigger to match the price of the plate. Another friend who had the classic chicken tenders enjoyed them. Flavorful and the Texture was there. A third friend was served the Buffalo tenders, which are usually drenched in sauce, however were not. I noticed upon entering that the floors were dirty, scattered with debris, trash, and spills. I decided to see how long it would take for any of the mess to be cleaned, but it wasn't. It actually took a long while for servers to even clear the tables. I also noticed that all the tables and chairs were disorganized. Because of the messiness of both the seating and the environment, when my family and I tried to find a place to sit, we couldn't. This messiness makes an environment that had potential feel completely uninviting. I have nothing to comment on about the meh food. I order from Urban Plates often! My go to is usually their chicken sandwich or their Morrocan Chicken Braise. I usually prefer to order their chicken sandwich since it's the most filling and comes with chips and another side. Only thing that would make this better is if they toast the bread. I usually end up toasting the bread myself. The Moroccan Chicken Braise I really love the flavors and tastes really good with rice and veggies. I really wish they gave more chicken pieces. When I had the catered version of this dish they had so many pieces of chicken but it's definitely not as good when there's small chicken pieces in it. Otherwise I would order it more. The salmon is also good option it's cooked and season perfectly. For the sides options: I would recommend the brussel sprouts and their tomato soup. I used to get their potatoes or mushrooms as sides but they tend to over salt them so i usually get the brussel sprouts or the tomato soup. Overall I highly recommend this place! I rarely ever come here as I don't crave the food they have, but this time I was feeling Urban Plates. Upon walking in, I was greeted with a smile and help from an employee with a red beard which I think his name was Jin M. Inside is super nice, with plenty of seating, the environment and atmosphere is great, and the food itself was delicious. The steak I had ordered was perfectly cooked, topped off with the delicious teriyaki sauce. For my sides, I had gotten the brussel sprouts and the mashed potatoes, both cooked perfect. Parking available in the garage right next door underneath the gym. I came on a saturday and it was free.. You order at the cashier and they give you a number and you choose where to sit. They have outdoor/patio seating which is covered and shaded. They have a little bar area to get water, utensils, and all their condiments from. They have a nice selection of hot sauces too. Their menu comprises of mostly sandwiches, bowls, salads, and burgers. Very urban, rustic and modern design inside i love it. We ordered their chimichurri steak and you choose 2 sides we got the brussel sprouts and frys and it also came w a garlic toast. Also ordered an extra side of mac n cheese and a slice of their hummingbird cake. It has pineapple in it but it tastes like a carrot cake with a twist which was FIRE. Super moist! The food had mega flavor however it didnt come out hot more like luke warm but i didnt mind since i was starving.
