I've been meaning to dine here. The first attempt was last year but unfortunately we came around 1:30pm on a weekday and they told us that the kitchen was already closed so we had to find another lunch spot. Finally I tried again and this second time I was able to try some of their offerings. I came on a Saturday and they were hosting DayLite Jersey House Music event. It was LOUD and packed with people just standing around. The vibes were cool though. My friends came before me and were able to snag a table in the back room. I went up to the counter to order. Unfortunately my first choice, a matcha latte, was sold out. I asked if they had any other options because I'm not much of a coffee drinker. I was told that there were flavored lemonades, I asked the about the flavors and the person who was helping me wasn't sure so they went and asked another person who ended up coming to list the syrups and just ringing me out. I ordered a blueberry lemonade and a blueberry pop-tart to go. Everything was fine until the end of our time there. As we were getting ready to leave I grabbed what I thought was my cup and took a quick sip to finish it off so I didn't have to carry it around. Turns out I grabbed a coffee from the table instead. I thought it was my friend's so I apologized to her about drinking her drink because I didn't realize I grabbed the wrong one in the dark. She goes, "oh no it's not my drink...I have mine in my hand." I'm like whose drink and dishes are these? She said that they were there before they got there and they just pushed it to the side. Omg I almost gagged, I just took the biggest sip of some random person's drink by accident. At that point I get up to go to the bathroom to rinse out my mouth. While I'm gone by friends get their things ready and also wait outside the bathroom, which is right by our table. As soon as I get out I walk back to grab my pop-tart and it was gone, cleared away by the staff in a matter of minutes. Crazy that they left the table with dishes and cups when we got there but when we were leaving they were in a rush to clear away everything that they take my basically full pop-tart too. I was so defeated at that point I just left. To note, I did take one bite of the pop-tart and it was actually very good. My lemonade was fine, nice and tart. Overall service is kinda lacking but it was also a crazy day to visit with an event going on so I can't really comment on how they are normally. I don't think I will back because I don't know if I can recover from swigging some rando's drink. read more

I want to start this off by going on the record by saying I am absolutely far from a coffee snob. As a matter of fact I will pretty much drink any kind of coffee and finish it. Today is the first day that I can remember that I actually threw a way my drink because I just couldn't finish it. It was extremely bad. I kept giving it a chance. Stirring it. Shaking it... I just couldn't. It was a pistachio iced latte. Now I don't know if something was spoiled... I cannot see that being the case, because I had oat milk. Maybe the coffee wasn't fresh? I don't know but if you go through my reviews, you can see I rarely leave negative feedback I just hate to do that... I just couldn't let this one slide. Ambience is nice. It was beautifully decorated for the holidays! Saw their holiday latte on Instagram and I had to try it! I purchased the Roasted & Toasted !! Loved the flavors: Roasted Chestnut Orgeat, Sage Infused Brown Butter, Toasted Spice, White Chocolate Nutty, Earthy, Velvety goodness!! On a cold winter's day! Got to meet Little Bliss too! So cute!! I love finding a local coffee shop with great coffee and special lattes. There's paid street parking, seating inside if you want to dine in, cute interior decor, and the service is good. It wasn't too busy when I went on the weekend and during the week. So far I've only tried a fruit loop latte (I think that's what it was called) --it was actually delicious and their mushroom cappuccino, which gave me the kick I needed without the jitters. Bliss is due an updated review after my recent experiences at the Coffee Lounge. Since I have been, the vanilla chai lattes -- both hot and cold -- have been consistently delicious. The lattes are creamy, perfectly spiced, and not too sweet. Before the winter menu is gone, definitely try the caramel brûlée latte! This is a sweet beverage with a crunchy top layer and the cutest presentation. I also really enjoyed the chocolate chip cookie. It came out warm and gooey in one of my recent experiences. However, last time I went, it was stale and must have been sitting in the case for too long. Besides that, the decor and service here have been on point as well. The baristas here are so sweet and I always have an easy time ordering. read more

A cute and quaint place my friend and I spent a few hours at to study. Both drinks were $7 for this size and cold foams which is like so unheard of these days lol but we got the iced banana cold foam matcha and latte. So yummy, and it wasn't the perfect balance between strong coffee or matcha with slight sweetness. I'm not a huge fan of overly sweet drinks in general so I was very pleased with how both came out. We got the brigadeiro latte, a tasty and subtly chocolate latte with some kind chocolate syrup in it, it didn't really stand out as something I'd try again. Next we tried a mocktail, the bliss spritz, though good... it had A LOT of ginger giving a bit too much of a bite, perhaps a little more sparkling water would've helped. Such a pretty and cozy spot. If I was young and single, I'd love to go on a date here! The food menu is pretty big for a cafe, which is unlike other coffee spots where the drinks rule the menu, plus some bakery items on display and rotating specials. The best coffee shop in Somerville! Bliss is my favorite place to enjoy a coffee when I'm in the area. It's been a few years since I first stopped in and I have been going back ever since because of how consistently well made the drinks are. I've enjoyed everything I've tried from Bliss, but my absolute favorite is the downtown dulce--it's the perfect blend of caramel and espresso. The chai latte is another standout drink for me. There is a lot of seating inside, as well as tables outside during warmer months, so it never feels crowded. The Wi-Fi is quick and works great in both the front and back rooms of the cafe. For those reasons, Bliss doubles as a great place to sit and do work for a couple hours. In a word: visiting this coffee shop is pure Bliss! read more

I really wish I can give this cute little place a good review but I cannot. I went in for the first time and at first the young lady was nice until I asked her about the morning sweet combo special that consists of a muffin or bakery treat with a coffee, AFTER I had asked for a matcha latte, I thought of getting the combo as well... but she then goes "the combo doesn't consist of a matcha latte" and I said "okay no problem I'm just gonna get a raspberry bread thingy and matcha. She gets an attitude and starts breathing heavy and proceeds to ask me "so you DONT want a muffin you want the raspberry bread???" And I said yes kindly. She then switched my total from $9 and some change to $15!!! For a stale piece of bread and a matcha latte that definitely was NOT made with "love". Let's just say that. I then asked her where the rest room was and with her back turned "RIGHT TO THE LEFT LAST DOOR". Stand offish as hell. I just moved in the area and safe to say I won't be coming back here. Bliss certainly lives up to its name. From its atmosphere to its drinks, to its baked goods- there is always a good reason to go to Bliss. I go to Bliss when I'm meeting up with a friend for a coffee or when I need to finish some work. Both occasions seem fit for a trip to Bliss. Bliss has a warm and cozy seating area which is able to accommodate a decent amount of people. The front of Bliss has a few couches for a casual conversation, and the middle section near the counter has tables where I typically pull out my laptop when I have work to finish but also want the ambiance of a bustling coffee shop. The back of Bliss includes a more solitary space perfect for an intimate conversation or a space to really minimize distractions and get lost in a personal project. There are a number of drinks I really enjoy at Bliss. My recent favorite is the eggnog latte- a perfect blend of espresso and eggnog without being blown away by excessive sweetness. Though, two staples I can always rely on are the downtown dulce and the cortado. Every time I order those I walk away with a smile. Though if you are in the mood for a chai latte or even a cold brew, I can assure you Bliss makes a solid chai latte and usually has a seasonal cold brew. This past autumn, I enjoyed the apple crisp cold brew. Each trip to Bliss I like to treat myself to some pão de queijo. Each order comes with 2, and every time I order the pão de queijo it is fresh and well worth it! When in Somerville, make sure to put Bliss on your must visit list! read more

I've given Bliss a 5 start but management needs to speak with it's staff about some housekeeping expectations which I'll cover at the end of this review. Our first trip to Somerset NJ on 6/18, a reco from a colleague who grew up in town and who's parents still live there. Found street parking just outside of Bliss and due to the extreme HOT temps (heat wave) we noticed Bliss and opted to go in to seek coverage from the oppressive temperatures. To our surprise, it was a very chill type of relaxing atmosphere with a very interesting small plate menu and healthy, tasty, and refreshing beverages. We started off with an empanada and quickly added another with a fruit filling and loved their passion fruit mocktail. Had overheard it's also an event space for performers. Very cool. Back to my housekeeping rules the management needs to instill in the staff... is common decency and respect. Not just respect to the customers, my horrific experience was more about common decency and respect to everyone (staff or customer). While waiting a very long time to finally be able to use the one gender-neutral restroom (no other restrooms), I went in, and low and behold, the previous occupant [an employee who helped us with our order from behind the counter] did not flush the toilet and boy it was ugly in there. I came right out to follow that person and remind them of the human decency and courtesy to flush. She looked astonished and said she did. If she did and it cleared out, I would not be describing this unfortunate and ugly part of my awesome food experience. She was also nasty when confronted; it was time for us to leave. read more

I have been wanting to try Bliss for the longest but with so much competition in the area, I just never got around to it. I'm so glad it came into the rotation this President's Day. First off, I love the peacock blue with the matching lounge chairs. It gives such a sexy, grown vibe. Second, I love the variety of drinks that they offer. The latte list is endless AND they have flights so you can sample three of the flavors that pique your desire. Third, they serve food. Hot food. Pancakes, sandwiches, cheesesteaks, etc. Or, if you fancy something light, they have a huge variety of pastries, muffins, cakes, bagel, etc. The ladies working were great. Informative and patient and suggested a few things. Opted for the blueberry streudel which was DELICIOUS and had a tiramisu latte to go with it. My friend that the latte flight of the lavender love, pistachio, and caramel creme brulee. Next time, I'm gonna get the flight. I'm gonna make it my goal to try all they flavors by Summertime. I don't drink coffee at all, so I was excited to see they have a variety of non-coffee beverages. I got the strawberry coconut horchata and the chicken beirute, a Brazilian styled sandwich. The food and drinks were great, loved that it wasn't the typical American cafe choices. But for a cafe it is VERY expensive, the sandwich was $16 and specialty drinks were $7 each which is insanely pricey for a cafe, those are restaurant prices. Love their coffee. I had the Lotus Cheesecake latte. I wanted to get the latte flight however I have a nut allergy and one of the lattes in the flight had nuts (pistachio/coconut). Unfortunately they could not be swapped out so I asked for their sweetest latte, therefore led me to the Lotus Cheesecake. Essentially biscoff latte still the perfect amount of sweet for me. Felt very homey and comfortable. Their food also looked very good for a small shop. Not sure where the lounge came in from the name maybe because of the couch like seating but overall good vibe. Came here for a date and he had a plain vanilla latte, but also great for catching up with friends etc. Not sure I would have a professional meeting here but definitely a great find. Since I came earlier today (Sunday) the meter parking 2 blocks up was free. If you are wondering how your food is cooked. This is the kitchen. The door was open and I was surprised to see the environment it was cooked in. Cook wasn't the nicest, giving my friend attitude when asked for a cup to take drink to go. The replies to the negative reviews aren't nice from the owner online. Always a reason to blame costumers. Bliss Coffee is such a cute date spot or place to get your work done. Today, I got the chagaccino which is the new trendy drink where it's similar to mocha latte but it's made from mushroom. I got it iced with oat milk and normally, coffee doesn't make me jittery or feel wired but this drink did. However, it was a good thing in the sense that I came to the cafe to get work done and this drink kept me super caffeinated and awake. Decided to check out this coffee shop that's on Main Street in somerville. The interior was not at all what I was expecting from the looks of the outside of the shop. It had such a cute homey comfy vibe to it. People were hanging out on their laptops , which means they most likely offer wifi. I was undecided what to order but needed a pick me up coffee type of drink. The lady was really nice and helpful and recommended the dulce de leche drink. So that's the one I went with, art around $6/7 so about average maybe a bit more pricey. The drink was okay but I felt there was a lot of ice in it, I only got a few sips and it was gone lol and I was left with alot of ice. I got my drink to go and my biggest downfall was that the lid kept leaking constantly all over me every time I went to drink it so definitely not a good experience with that at all. It went all over my shirt and the car. So id suggest getting a straw if you got yours to go. The lounge area looked relaxing so if I was in the area I might stop by with some friends and hangout and try their drinks stationary and not to go. read more

This place recently popped up on my radar, so last Sunday afternoon I took the opportunity to investigate the situation on my way home, recruiting a nearby Somerville resident to accompany me. I've been to the Main Street area of Somerville quite a few times before and remain impressed at how spiffy it's become compared to the shabbiness from my childhood. Despite it being a sunny, hot day on the weekend I miraculously found parking right in front. As someone who has parked in these diagonal spaces before, I can tell you it's a little hair-raising to pull out into the busy street, so be on your toes. The inside was pretty spacious, which you couldn't tell from the subtle exterior, and I found my friend pretty easily off to the side already nursing a caffeinated beverage (I was several minutes behind schedule, which I'm almost exclusively blaming on that atrocious traffic circle over by 202/206. I can't believe we still have traffic circles.). I instinctively got kind of an apothecary vibe from this place - there's definitely an Asian new age theme going on just under the surface, which was made more obvious by the extensive plant life and some of the products being sold off to the side. Interesting twist on the coffeehouse theme. The chakra smoothie section of the menu brought the point home as well. It definitely felt very chill and mellow in there. I went with a hot rose latte and a chocolate chip scone. Since it was about 90 degrees out, I decided not to have my scone warmed up (though points for offering the option), but in hindsight I think I should have - if I can swill hot beverages in any temperature, I might as well go all the way with the food. But regardless, it was very tasty and not as crumbly as a lot of scones I've had. The price point was pretty on par with the area; I'd guess I paid about $9 or $10 for both, which is arguably a little expensive, but I try not to get too riled up in this day and age with the mass inflationary and supply chain issues going on. It also was a quick turnaround time; I had my latte and snack ready to go within a few minutes. My chum declared the experience "magnificent," and I certainly got the impression she'll be returning shortly. Definitely a nice addition to the bustling Somerville scene, and it's nice to know there's some caffeine nearby if I get a little too naughty at nearby cocktail bar Verve. read more

When I first walked in, I was surprised at how busy it was (but shh they have a cute comfy couch/lounge area in the far back of the cafe). I claimed my seat while I waited for someone's arrival, eventually ordering a matcha tea latte (add soy, add honey) that had me thinking, Starbucks, who? I'll admit that my order from Starbucks, which includes 2 pumps of classic syrup and 2 pumps of vanilla syrup may be the real problem, but "that's my business" -Tabitha Brown. I loved the overall ambiance of this cafe and would definitely come back to study here! It was very peaceful and surrounded by so much greenery/pretty decor! My friend and I both ordered avocado toasts (the Natural and the Ultimate) as well as the Honey Lavender Cold Brew and the Blueberry Lemon Float. Everything tasted really great but I'm taking away a star for the overall service. The waitress seemed to be the only one working in the entire cafe and she got our orders mixed up with the girls who ordered before us. She also gave my friend her drink with ice even though she asked for it to be room temperature. I could definitely see how stressful it'd be to work alone so I felt really bad. However, for how expensive everything was, we expected our experience to be somewhat better. Great place to work/read/catch up with friends over a cup of coffee. We got the pistachio latte with oat milk because of the reviews. It was good but I prob won't order again as a personal preference (don't care for pistachio unless its an ice cream flavor). Also got a blueberry scone and they warmed it up for me. The blueberry scone tasted like a mix between a scone and a cookie. The texture came across as a crumbly cookie. Haven't decided yet if I like it or not, but definitely interesting. I was about 10 minutes away, not even in Somerville, but I wanted to find a coffee shop I could sit and hang out in for a bit, Yelp brought me to Bliss!! So many good things to rave about... They interior is beautiful and a space I am sure would be packed under normal circumstances. It's also pretty big so there was no trouble keeping a distance from the one or two other customers in the shop who also were ordering, but I only was inside for a quick second. The baristas were extremely friendly, rang me up for my iced latte and let me know I could grab one of the portable fans to take out to my table with me if I'd like. I think these mini fans stole my heart... It was VERY hot out, but with an incredibly tasty (and incredibly iced) French Vanilla latte and a little fan cooling me down you could never tell. They also have and awning and a few umbrellas for shade. I will say it was a bit pricey at $5+ but that was after adding French Vanilla flavoring and oat milk so I get it. If you are going a little stir crazy at home all day, come here and sit out for a little bit.
