I went in on my birthday for a gel manicure and a pedicure. I'm not picky and always tip well. I've never had a great experience here because I don't know who to ask for I guess and just always walk in/ take whoever. I got a recommendation to book a specific technician and I did. He didn't do a manicure because I didn't specifically state that I wanted one in addition to gel polish, which is fine I guess. The main issue is the pedicure looked horrible- some parts were see through, the big nails had bumps and streaks. The manager said they looked awful and they would fix if I came back the next day. When I went back, the nail tech, Don, threw his head back, rolled his eyes and exclaimed UGHHH in front of everyone. The ladies sitting next to me asked what happened and I was so embarrassed. Upon walking into this salon I was greeted pleasantly. So many colours to choose from. Michael took me and my daughter to our pedicure chairs. Thomas took care of me. A quick pedicure not as deep as I'm used too. The massage chair was very weak, I like it alot more intense. The paint job was done well. read more

I tried out this place twice within the last few months for two different weddings. The first time I was very impressed. The guy who did my mani/pedi did an excellent job. He really did an amazing job on the callouses of my feet and it feels luxurious to have the massage and comfy chairs. He really took his time - everything looked great! The second time I got a different person and she didn't do things the same way that he did. It looked like she used something like a hard sponge on the bottoms of my feet and didn't take as much time. I'm not sure if that is why but my nails chipped within the first week which doesn't seem right. I would've given my first experience a 5 and the second a 3, so I am averaging them out. read more

I have had my nails done at this chain often, but this was the first time at this location. I had a deluxe pedicure with salt scrub and paraffin wax but skipped the hot stones. I also had a sports manicure. The spa services were nice and very relaxing. The manicure was fine. My nails weren't buffed to a shine as is expected with this style manicure but she did oil them at my request. Most disappointing was the polish job on my toes. After it had dried they were all wrinkled rather than a smooth finish, as if there was something wrong with that polish itself. I pointed it out and my tech hap hazardously fixed it while kneeling on the floor. She justly dabbed an additional coat of my color. She should have completely redone the polish because my nails are not at all smooth. The experience was nice but the end result was poor. I will now have to go elsewhere or redo the polish at home. read more

Been here twice now for a gel mani and a basic pedicure. I go close to the opening time on the weekend to avoid lines, and usually my wait has been under 20 minutes. There are so many colors to choose from and I use the wait time to select my color. The gel manicure was fine, it lasted about 10 days after I got it. There were a few "nicks" on the nail that required some fine filing, but overall it lasted. I really come to Ambiance for the pedicures. I got a pedicure over a week ago, and it is still going strong. My nail tech was friendly and checked in with me throughout. She did a great job, and I was there about 30-40 minutes. I've enjoyed my visits to Ambiance, and will likely come for another pedi, and if I need to get a quick gel mani done. read more

My experience here this morning was amazing. Friendly staff all around & Elsa the nail tech was amazing. I showed her a photo of what I wanted and she created it perfectly. She took her time and it shows, they are my favorite nails I've had! Lots of colors to choose from and also and also many staff around so it seems like a place with walk in availability. It's efficient and fast and even if you do a walk in, you get in and out pretty quick. I've been there 3 times, and get the sense that the salon (and it's technicians) don't take enough care/time, which is a pity, since it's facilities are apt and comfortable. My first experience was with Simon, and it was great! It was also my first time getting a french tip, and it turned out perfectly. I expressed my concern about getting my cuticles pushed back, and he offered some solutions in addition to trimming them carefully, which ended up improving the health of my cuticles. My second experience was with another technician (don't remember their name) getting a gel polish. Gaps between nail and flesh, uneven polish - it was a rush job. My third and most recent visit was for a regular polish, and technician 3 was cordial. What was surprising and a little upsetting was the damage caused. I removed my regular polish after a week and found the "old" nail extremely rough, which could only mean it wasn't properly smoothed out during my visit. I understand there's always going to be damage when you get your nails polished, but my nails was trimmed down so thin that I could feel a significant difference thickness between the old and fresh nail. The picture shows my nail after two weeks of removing my regular polish. Overall, if I could request a certain technician, I would. If there could be a general standard of care, it would make me more inclined to visit again. read more

I was excited to try this nail salon after having some mixed experiences at the Oakley location. Upon entering it looks great and the technicians are nice, but the nail polish selection is horrible. I picked the best one I could find and it was so dried up (I didn't know this, my nail technician just added a liquid thinner to it) and had to paint 6 layers on my nails. It turned out clumpy and awful. $35 for a pedicure should be luxurious. I could have done a better job myself with my left hand. Additionally, there's nothing worse than a nail salon focused on quick turnaround. Nothing about this experience was relaxing. Will never return. read more

hmm. i've been going to this ambiance nail salon for over a year now and have generally had a good experience. i had an appointment yesterday that i requested in advance online, where i had uploaded a nail design i wanted. the booking person replied that i would need a "master tech" ($2 added to each service) to do the design, which i have done many times before and never had a problem with. my nails are being done, though the grinder my tech is using this time is fully metal and genuinely burning my nail beds. then we get to the design. for a master tech, i wouldn't think this design was hard. but he simply could not do it, taking it on and off at least three times. when i realize i'm not going to get what i asked for (which i had requested, in advance) i try to ask for an even simpler nail design. the tech can not do this either. the tech had also been on his phone the entire time, clearly rushing through service, skipped the base coat, and not provided the lotion or anything at the end (which i needed, because all of the skin around my nails was totally raw). i don't remember his name but i've gone to him before and never had a problem. i think there needs to be more clarity towards "yes i can do this design" or "no i can not". i left the salon with no nail art and i was pretty disappointed. probably won't be coming back here for any further nail art needs. photo attached of what i asked for. thankfully i was not charged for the design. read more

The technicians are very good giving quality manicures and pedicures. The owner will not allow tip on a credit card only cash. This policy is more profit for the owner charging $1.99 at his in store ATM machine. This policy hurts tips employees receives from their customers. Today I only had $10. Cash and will not use the owners ATM to enhance the owner. read more

Also refunds aren't available which makes me mad because I spent the rest of the money I had been saving up for these nails. I'm starting to not have a great opinion of ambiance, I've been trying gelx. Which they charge the same as acrylic even though the process is quicker, easier for the tech, and the materials are cheaper. How am I being charged for a file and you literally can't put the nail on without doing it. The nickel and dimeing is getting annoying. I really don't like my nails I got. The tech was doing half a job. She wasn't going to clean up the underside, I asked for a new set and she didn't want to do it, she chose to do a fill. She didn't get all of my last polish off so I have a weird green tint on the underside. I had to ask her three times to please make my nails look clean. Like a new set. I came in with one broken nail which she replaced and it's the only one lifting. She didn't cure it completely. The edges are wonky. And she had an attitude because I had to ask her three times to go back and finish filing/cleaning up my nails. I paid and talked to the manager who stood over her while she filed on them for a 4th time. Just so happens that that time she did a pretty good job while her manager was standing over her shoulder.
