Quick review to shout out consistently great service. I've been coming to this EWC location for almost a year now ... and have experienced nothing but positivity and professionalism. The girls at the front desk are always friendly and attentive ... and even if they do try to sell me on the monthly wax packages, they do it in a way that says they care about me saving money on services. Lauren has been my go-to technician since I started coming here ... and she's easily the best waxer I've ever had. She's fast and thorough, and makes you feel comfortable during the less enjoyable parts of a wax. I would definitely recommend booking with Lauren. That said, my most recent visit was with a different technician because Lauren was on vacation. I do wish the front desk had called me to let me know, because it was a complete surprise to me when I showed up for my appointment ... and it's kind of a process to prepare yourself when you're getting a wax from someone new. When I arrived the associate at the front desk did not mention I would get a free eyebrow wax for my 1st time there. The aesthetician was super friendly and did a great job! I love the hard wax she used. She did tell me about the free eyebrow wax and also told me I would get 50% off each additional service, so I added another service. The front desk associate refused to give me the 50% off price. She told me the aesthetician was wrong and she would not honor what I was told. There are SO many specials, packages, discounts etc. Always being offered I can understand the confusion. BUT knowing I added an additional service based on the 50% off, it should have been honored. I have gone to different European wax centers for over 10 years. I am obviously satisfied with the waxing but I hate how Everytime I go they try to sell you something they shove the wax pass down your throat and once you get that they try to sell you more expensive ones. After 16 years of getting my eyebrows done they have never looked this bad. They were thick and luscious before, my technician even asked what I wanted and I told her keep thickness and length... they are uneven, the shape is ruined and I am beyond unhappy. I made a day of appointment for a wax. I got a confirmation email and then a few hours later, a reminder email. I arrived to my appointment a few minutes early only to find the store closed with the lights off. There was a handwritten note on the door saying "store closed, call tomorrow reschedule". Today I got an email asking how my appointment was. I was not happy with the lack of communication on the cancellation. Everyone was extremely kind, sweet, and I really enjoyed the energy at this location (Strongsville). My waxer was Jessi and they were extremely kind, nice to talk with & pleasant overall. The issue is that I still have hair (I requested a Brazilian wax). I have full hair between my buttcheeks, none was removed, and chunks all over my pubic area. I wanted a full Brazilian and I made that clear online and in person. I'm disappointed because this was my first time getting waxed and coming to this place, and with how sweet everyone was I was really hoping for a good experience. Got mixed reviews on this location. Some were good and bad. But I wanted to take a chance. Like my hair, I take eyebrow waxing seriously. I've had bad experiences in the past and want to make sure that I choose a place that treats well with sensitive skin. I booked online last minute, same day and was able to get in late afternoon. You walk in-the receptionist is very down to earth and helpful. Before my appointment, she gave me a consultation and went over the pricing. Very detailed and not pushy. Also, she entered in the system if I am taking any acne medication or allergic which was great for future references. After a 7 minute wait, Lyndsey introduced herself and escorted me to the wax room. She too was very friendly. I didn't need anything special done to my eyebrows (arched shaped, etc) except the type of wax for sensitive skin. I just needed them cleaned up. For additional $10.00, I needed to get my lip waxed as well. The rooms and building is extremely clean and organized. Lyndsey explained step by step what she was doing and the process: 1) She cleansed my eyebrows which removes makeup, oil, and lotion. 2) Next she applied pre-wax oil to ensure the wax adheres to hairs and not my skin. 3) Lyndsey applied their comfort wax (their product) to gently remove the hairs which was painless. It's a Strip-less wax applied somewhat thickly and with no cloth or paper strips. The wax then hardens when it cools, allowing the easy removal by a therapist without the aid of cloths. This is great for people who have sensitive skin like me. Strip-less wax does not adhere to the skin as much as strip wax does, thus making it a good option for sensitive skin as finer hairs are more easily removed because the hard wax encapsulates the hair as it hardens. The strip-less waxing method can also be less painful. 4) Last she used an ingrown hair serum/calming cream. Lyndsey used a brown brush, which is a gently brush on powder, shaping and filling in brow area. For a more natural brow. She last applied a Natural Brow Powder which will fill in and shape the brows. It gives it a gorgeous pop! Same process with my lip waxing minus the powder and used the calming cream when finished. She paid attention to detail and I didn't feel rushed. European Wax Center is located in Rookwood Commons Shopping Center next to Nike, Mitchell's Salon and Day Space and Nordstrom Rack. What's great about this place is for new customers, the first wax is free (Regular price $18.00). They are confident that they put out a great product and provide great service. Also, first time guests also receive a card to rate their experience with a card. On your next visit you save $5.00 when you return the card. How cool is that?! I can't believe how many perks they have! Everytime you book a reservation online or refer a guest, you earn reward points. For every 500 points accumulated, you will receive $5.00 off any product or service. Pricing is very reasonable. If you prepay and buy certain amount of treatments you save money. For instance: Buy 6 treatments and get 1 free (depending on the services). Buy 9 treaments and get 3 free and so on... They sell their own products at the front lobby. I am sure to get the Natural Brow powder and the brush next time I return. Besides eyebrow treatment they do: Arms, legs, bikini (line, full, brazilian), full body, and face (cheeks, chin, ears, lip, neck, nose, sideburns, or full face) within reasonable pricing. This center is also great for men and they too (for first time customers) get their first complimentary wax for free. I am so glad that I didn't back out and came here. The staff is very friendly, warm, & welcoming. Brooke, my waxer, did a great job. I really enjoyed my services here, and the prices are comparable to all other salons when it comes to waxing. I also like that they don't use the strips. Whatever wax it is that they use is awesome. It's not anywhere near as painful. My only real gripe is the lack of clear description when booking an appointment online. Most salons I've been to, I get a bikini plus wax, which is a little more than just my bikini line. It's usually $5-$10 more. I figured their bikini full was the equivalent, but was very much surprised when that was not the case. It was the whole front area - almost a Brazilian. I had a really negative experience here. I purchased a wax pass and somehow it got lost. The manager made me send emails of my bank statements and go through a huge process with customer service which took over an hour. When I returned the wax pass issue had still not been resolved and again, I spent over an hour here. At the end of getting it sorted out the manager asked me to pay full price for the two waxes because she couldn't backtrack the wax pass, even though I had already been charged for it. I continued a membership for two extra months to be able to transfer the package to my boyfriend for his birthday. he broke his collarbone, so we had to reschedule. on the day of the appointment, the assistant manager called and said they expired after 90 days and we no longer had the packages to use on the day of our appointment. the assistant manager said there was no way to override or credit us. so disappointing since i had already paid and we were looking forward to it. read more

I went in to get my eyebrows done and was asked if it was my first time and who referred me. My friend who told me about the place was given a credit and I was given a free wax. I didn't even have to ask, that was great. They were all booked up so I made an appointment and went next door to Nordstrom Rack to do some shopping and asked them to call me if anything opened up sooner (next time I will make an appt)- and they called within about 10 minutes to tell me to come on over. They use a wax that gets hard on your face and pull that off instead of the strips and I did notice that it was less painful. She did a great job and was professional and friendly. I say surprisingly, because usually when salons are running crazy deals like these guys were (free bikini waxes for first time customers) it's maybe not the best place- but au contraire- this place was the bomb. I had Karine (hope I'm spelling that right) and she was the best waxer I've ever had. She was fast, efficient, and made it very clear that she prides herself on doing the best job and making sure I left happy. Let me start by saying that I've had many positive experiences at EWC with several wax specialist. However, today was the exception. I had already scheduled three services, and my wax specialist started pressuring me to add additional services. She went as far as to shame me for shaving my legs instead of waxing them -- telling me that I was a waxer's worst nightmare and that men don't like to see dark hair on women. She also spoke very rudely about other clients and their hair removal preferences. Additionally, she was extremely aggressive about trying to sell products. Overall Marquita did a good job waxing me, but left me feeling extremely uncomfortable, insecure and judged. I will be scheduling with someone else next time. read more

Solid awesome 4*. The place is kept immaculately clean and modern. The registration staff were friendly, answered all my questions, explained all their promotions, and gave me the first time discount that I didn't know to ask about. First visit: complimentary small area (lip, underarm, etc) or 1/2-off Brazilian. They have online appointments, which I love! And the service was fantastic. I had Victoria for my waxing, and she was very friendly and easy to talk to. She did a great job on the service, wasn't pushy, but did mention their products (which is fine with me). She was very precise, being certain to tweeze anything that broke with the wax. If you're paying to get hair out, they should be sure the hair's out, right? She definitely did that. I'm still searching for a place to call my regular spot, and they're in the lead so far. And this is by far the most affordable waxing place (that isn't gross, or sketchy, or in someone's house) that I've seen in my many many years of waxing. Will very likely be back. Let me start off saying I was impressed with every aspect of this place. I came in for a Brazilian wax and have being doing this for about 5 years. I'm also always bringing my friends who are brides-to-be as a wedding present as well. I've never left a place completely satisfied. Customer service - making the phone call for an appointment was easier than ever. Karine answered the phone and was precise, pleasant and thorough. Upon arriving the young lady at the front desk was smiling, engaged and provided information without being pushy on selling product. You can tell the staff was trained very well by management and always held to a high standard. Ambiance - cool, modern, comfortable and private enough to feel like as a customer I was of importance. Displays of product were easily accessible and the music playing was just the right volume and versatile for any audience. Service - I work in the service industry and let me tell you how amazing Tasha was! She was engaging and explained every aspect of the service. She was attentive and very professional. She was put together, clean cut and you could tell she loved her job. Making a personal connection with your guest is important in the service industry (especially when is could be awkward, painful and completely vulnerable hahahaha) Product - Brazilians aren't all that fun. But the end result is usually worth it. I've had my fair share of bad experiences! The hard wax they use is UNBELIEVABLE! Slightly painful? yes, but 100% more efficient and LESS painful than any product I've ever had on my body. 30 seconds after removable you don't even remember it was ripped off! I have been getting waxed at this location for years now and have struggled to find a waxer who I enjoy. When I would find someone I liked, they would be gone the next month or two, so it has been an up and down battle. Unfortunately, today was the day. I don't think I will be returning to this location. I went in for a regular Brazilian, so I was prepared for the discomfort; however, I wasn't expecting any of what I experienced. My waxer, Kellie, was HORRIBLE and the entire experience was a MESS. She barely prepped the area for waxing, held ZERO conversation, did not inform nor ask if she could use tweezers, and she left a TON of wax on my body. She literally ripped my skin off, to the point of there being bleeding (I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THAT). When I got home, there was still a TON of wax in my butt crack and hair still left (sorry for explicit details). I get that sometimes there can still be wax left, but not like what happened today. During my experience, I was tempted to tell her to stop because she literally was yanking the wax off and causing unnecessary pain. She also applied the wax so aggressively with the wood spatulas, that my skin got scratched. Her technique was horrible and she provided no comfort or pressure on the area that was being waxed (like how others do). I'm not sure if she was new, but she definitely appeared nervous and like she had no idea what she was doing. She also was a tad unsanitary. She placed the wood spatulas on the counter without anything under them and she pressed the trash down without switching out her gloves. At the end, she barely applied any serum, so my skin was left dry. If you're going to go to this location, avoid Kellie at all cost! read more

I needed a wax treatment and my home esthetician remains on maternity leave (how DARE she...) I made an appointment online a couple of days in advance for the European Wax Center and was VERY pleased. The place -- in the Rookwood Commons plaza near Mitchell's -- is airy and clean, and Victoria greeted me right at my appointment time. She was pleasant, thorough, gentle, and provided me with the best treatment I've had in a very long time! I even made an appointment for a month from now, when I'll be back in town. The prices aren't the cheapest I've seen, but this isn't a service you really want to skimp on. They do sell packages that allow for unlimited waxing (or, for example, buy 9, get 3 free) which allow for a fair amount of savings if you're committed. It's a nationwide chain, and the packages extend to all locations, so it seems like a pretty good deal if you can plan ahead. There is a little bit of selling pressure applied regarding these packages (and after-wax care products), but nothing I couldn't handle. I just went to get a wax at my scheduled appointment time and they would not let me get it done because I didn't have my ID with me. That's the most ridiculous policy I have ever heard. I'm a new mom and in the little bit of time I have when my baby is sleeping I do not have time to get my ID and come back for no reason. That pretty much uses up the entire nap time. I will not be coming back and will be sure to let everyone I know of the awful customer service they have. read more

If I was doing this review after my first appointment here, I'd have given my experience 3 stars. The lady I saw at first seemed new to waxing and it was overall a very painful and uncomfortable time. However, because I needed another clean-up before a month full of vacations this summer, I headed back in today for my second Brazilian. Thanks to all of the other fantastic yelp reviewers, I made my appointment with Jamie. She is fabulous!! She's experienced, gentle, and makes you feel at complete ease the entire time... and that's extremely important for a wax I'd consider to be generally painful! Waxing is a pain...literally! Offers a free wax, $21 for a brazillian (which is what i got). Loved the wax - hard wax, not strips. The results were great with minimal pain. Paris was great with her technique. Small gripe. They did not step out of the room while i disrobed and hopped on the table. I guess its all semantics when we get that familiar. :) And didn't have a privacy towel that some waxers place over you. Facility was clean and trendy. This is by far my most favorite waxing place. I've tried others but no other place is as nice, clean, friendly, and professional as European Wax Center! Highly highly recommend this EWC! I get Brazilian waxes and so I am very concerned about the person who does it and the technique of how it's done so that it's more efficient and less painful. So far, every wax person I've had at EWC has been very friendly and super personable. They speak to me in a kindly tone and we have great conversations during the service so that I feel more comfortable and pay less attention to the actual waxing (or else it hurts more haha). Victoria is my favorite at this location! On top of that, the way they wax is unlike usual wax because their wax dries and hardens without any cloth needed to be pressed on top of it. I assume that this is the European way of waxing. I have found that this way makes it extremely easier for the wax tech to pull and it's way faster. There's less tugging on the skin this way. The wax is also at a comfortable temperature so there's no burning on the skin either and this type of wax also takes off way more hair (which is amazing so less pulling needed)! Victoria uses a specific technique when doing my Brazilians so that we're focusing on more than one area and so that one area doesn't get waxed back to back too much (which can be pretty painful). After pulling the wax, she also presses her hand on my skin so that the stinging doesn't last as long -- it makes the pain go away 2x faster and doesn't linger (my favorite technique she does)!! She's also very informative to let me know what to expect and how the wax will feel. Every single time I get it done, the hairs doesn't start growing back until at least 1 - 1.5 weeks after the service and it grows back thinner and more slowly, which has been amazing! This was my first time getting a Brazilian wax. I was nervous and afraid of what was in store, but the atmosphere instantly made me feel welcome. When I met my wax extraordinaire Paris, I knew I was in good hands from her professional and friendly demeanor. She took the time to comfort me during the session and held a hilarious conversation with me to distract me from my nervousness.
