Great spot for beers! Multiple tables for inside seating and outside patio that is fog friendly! Beers range from the basic ales, coffee infused ales, gose's to hefweissen's. I've been dying to come here. I drive by and look at it. This time we went ahead and tried the beers. Omg so good! This place would be 5 stars if they added more to the look of this place. I came here for a little Sundate with my fiancé. This little gem in Bixby Knolls is a great place for friends and family. We got the Professional human being, fleurs, Kohia Cambria, Berry shower. I'm not mich of a hazy or sour beer drinker but they got their beers down at Ambitious Ales! I ordered the professional human being is a bright hazy and full of citrus flavors, and the fleurs which is a light fruity Belgian perfect for a refresher on a warm day. I think Ambitious Ales has become our go-to brewery since it opened in mid - February. Although, I've only had one glass here, the guys have thrown back a few glasses. Awesome place to kick back and chill with friends. They close a bit early (10 PM, 8 PM on Sundays). Central Perk is my favorite thus far - it's infused with coffee beans from Rose Park Roasters (Long Beach!) and Madagascar vanilla beans. Yum! There's not a lot of indoor seating. Plenty of patio picnic style seatings and heat lamps. They've partnered up with Pow Wow pizza next door. Order and they will deliver it to you at the brewery. I was here for their official opening weekend (last weekend), so it was a madhouse. Under normal circumstances, I imagine there would be plenty of space even when it was busy (they have a lot of seating), but that weekend, it was jam-packed. I mention this because even with almost no room to move, everyone there was *still* super helpful, I still got to try samples of everything I wanted, and I still received everything I wanted within about a minute of waiting (from the time I stood in line, not just the time I made the request at the front). They know what they're doing, is what I'm saying. And they know what they're doing with the beer, too - I didn't love everything I tried, but that's fine, I'm picky about what kind of beer I like (the coffee blonde was too light for my taste, and the "belgian table beer brewed with strawberries" not fruity enough). They had several beers for their opening that I absolutely loved - two different fruity goses (a great pineapple and guava one, and a truly fantastic mango one just called "mangoes"), and one of their flagships, Baktuns, a rich imperial coffee porter with vanilla and chili (the chili is subtle, but the vanilla and coffee are big and bold, exactly the kind of beer I love). They only have half-pours, not smaller taster sizes, but their pours are pretty reasonably priced for the quality ($4 for 6 oz half-pours, $7-ish for full pours). I'll definitely be back. read more

Very friendly staff and tasty craft beer on tap. On occasion, you can find great stouts, but their usual lineup of lagers and fruited beers are solid. I really enjoyed the evening drinking beers with coworkers and chowing down on some pizza with wings. The tropical gose was the highlight of the evening, followed by the pungent sour blonde ale with berries, and finally the crispy Pilsner to close out the night. The pizza delivered from next next door was a nice touch and the boneless wings were my favorite item to snack on! Ambitious Ales yes please. Love the vibes here and I really enjoy all the beers I've tried. I really enjoyed Gandalf the Crisp and Central Perk. Both on the lighter sides but very different. Gandalf is hoppy and refreshing! Central Perk is something that I'd like in an IV. It was just sooo good. There's usually some sort of food truck outside, there's games inside, and it's dog friendly! Parking is mostly street but if you are ok with a little jaunt then there is some neighborhood parking. PANDEMIC INFO: They do have cans to go! Love this adorable brewery. Parking can be a bit difficult so be prepared to walk a bit to this location. I do wish they had more seatings since there is only 1 long family picnic table and a handful of window bar stools inside the store. They have more seatings outside but not the best place to sit if its rainy or cold.. The beer here is yummy and my favorite were the central perk and fleurs. If you are not sure, definitely ask for samples before purchasing. The bartenders are super nice (and good looking if I may say so) so don't hesitate to ask for their recs. I wouldn't recommend this place for a big group since it can be difficult to find seatings unless you go during off hours. read more

My wife and I frequent this place, but we went in the other night and there was a worker yelling at a customer calling them a "loser" and other various slurs. After witnessing this and calling to ask why there was a worker screaming on a main street I was met with a strike towards myself accusing me of being the one yelled at with no explanation. If this is how they act on a Tuesday night in front of any customer that enters the establishment even when in a high stress situation I would not recommend coming here anymore for a relaxing experience to wind down after a long day like I have been. Cool spot in Bixby Knolls, with some great beers. We love coming here and hanging out with friends. They have a small inside area but noce outdoor atea in the back and in the fromt on the street. We enjoy the Gandalf the crisp, and the alrmternating sours are always fun to try and never dissapoint. They do not have any seltzers or ciders though, thats my one wish. When my coworker told me there's a beer that tastes exactly like cold brew and is in Long Beach, I had to go try. I tried Central Perk and it was everything that she had described. It tasted exactly like a cold brew, but was the perfect light and refreshing beer for a hot summer day. I also got to try the mango gose and that was also super refreshing and mango-y. There were plenty of seats inside and outside the brewery as well. The patio outside is dog friendly, so there were plenty of dogs just chilling outside. I had the belgian beer Fleurs. The beer was very fragrant and tasty! Suprisingly it was only 3.8%. The outdoor area was very relaxed and quiet. The pizza next door was amazing with the beer, definitely recommend. The brewery does not offer any food. Parking is in the lot with the other resturants or on the street. Families with kids there. Really enjoyed Ambitious Ales! Not only do they have a great selection of beers, they're reasonably priced, too! The patio is communal and great for larger gatherings. It is first-come, first-serve, so if you know you're going to need a lot of tables, it's advised to show up early and to bring a few people to help squat until the rest of your pals get there. It's also dog friendly, so if you have a well behaved pooch, they're more than welcome - in fact, the staff was great about bringing fresh water bowls throughout the afternoon! My fave of the brews was the Mango. Not only was it super refreshing on the warm day we were there, it wasn't overly sweet, but easy to chug. Dangerous in a good way. The brewery is great about giving all the beers straightforward tasting profiles, making the menu super easy to navigate. The staff are super friendly at making suggestions and letting you taste a few before committing as well. Parking is rough since most of the street parking is limited to two hours, just make sure to watch the signs before leaving your vehicle. They don't serve food, but you can get Pow Wow pizza next door or some German bites from Rasselbock across the street! read more

In response to the only one star review out of over 100 reviews: I've been bringing my son to Ambitious nearly every weekend they've been open since my son was born. He's 18mo old now and he likes to wander. But my wife and I make sure that one of us is with him and we don't let him take stuff off of other tables. Therefore we've never had an issue with the staff at all. Infact the entire staff are incredibly friendly. Some of the biggest sweethearts in all of Long Beach. The "unattended child" note is a joke that I've seen in many establishments all over the place. Clearly you don't get it. This place is very kid friendly as long as you don't leave your one year old unattended (who does that?). But there is one thing that we can agree on, Karen. Everyone would be better off if you grabbed a six pack from Vons and just stayed home. Now the actual review. Ambitious is a wonderful venue. Extremely kid, and dog friendly. The interior is perfectly decorated. Elegant and simple. Like I said before, the staff are incredibly friendly and kind. I've always been greeted with a smile since day one. Not to mention these guys are making some of the best beer in Long Beach and that's really saying something because there are some absolute banger breweries here. So we went next door to thunder bolt and wanted food; was told that we can come here to sit and order food from there... we did... awesome helper named John... he was nice and gave my husband good recommendations on beer... I couldn't drink but I smelled the samplers of beers and wow they smelled good... husband liked them all but mainly liked central perk... my son fell and scraped his knee and Jade was a big help as well... she handled it with first aid kit... thank u jade n John! Great new brewery!! I came during the grand opening and I was very impressed. This is a perfect place to hang with friends and enjoy a variety of beers. I ordered the Longfellow, which is a double IPA, I loved it. It'll be my go to whenever I come back. I also ordered the Baby Got Bak which is also great, it's a lighter beer. They do have a nonalcoholic option, their Cold Pop is a root beer. Unfortunately it was tapped out by the time I arrived but I've tried it before and it's delicious. They have a front patio with tables and heaters. The service was great and quick. Really cool spot. In a cool area, great beers and very casual. You can easily go grab dinner at the German restaurant before or after visiting this place. That's typically what I do . They have some unique beer and sometimes have a food truck or company making food on site. Small patio out front and it's dog friendly . I like that it hasn't been crazy crowded each time that I've gone and I can typically find a place to sit. Perfect size for a brewery and I hope to see them succeed. Parking is a little weird so I recommend parking in the community across the street. The parking lot next door doesn't like you parking there if you're going to the brewery.
