Great bar here in Long Beach, small but very intimate. Service by Mickael was super friendly and knowledgeable about the beers. Definitely would make the drive again just for this place! Awesome place

I was in town for work and this place was recommended to me by a colleague. I decided to stop in and I was very happy I did! The selection of craft beers is extensive, it was very difficult to only choose four for the flight! We decided to split the Mediterranean plate and it was so so good! The bread that it came with was the best part. The service is counter style which isn't bad, you go and order and they'll bring it over to you. Everything comes out pretty quickly. I was there in a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty busy! I will definitely be going again.

Beachwood blendery is honestly one of my favorite beer spots in downtown Long Beach. My boyfriend and I came on a Friday afternoon for happy hour and we both got flights to be able to try all the different sours that they have to offer and we were blown away. The flavor of the beers were absolutely delicious and so fruity!! They even sell cans of their beer for you to enjoy at home. We were a little hungry right when we got there, so we ordered a pretzel, which they actually have to deliver from beachwood brewery (about a block away). I could have done with or without the pretzel. It wasn't the best pretzel ever, but it did the trick and the mustard sauce that it was served with was delicious.

Enrique- was amazing he helped by pointing me in the right direction and then help me reorder my choices, so the tasting flights was amazing. He was knowledgeable and friendly. This is definitely the best brewery in Long Beach, even if you dont love sours they have something tasty for you. The staff and vibe is amazing. I cant wait to come back, if they aren't open check their sister location At Beachwood BBQ.

I usually drink beer. I'm currently not allowed to for medical reasons. This has put a bit of a damper on our vacation, mostly for me. I happily go along with my husband, though, and have been able to watch him enjoy beers in some really cool locations, including Beachwood Blendery. It seems a bit unfair for me to review the place having not tried the beer. But, hey, a review from a designated driver can't hurt, right? I appreciated that they had a stockpile of games for people to enjoy. I happened upon a Golden Girls coloring book in their collection and, as a lifelong fan of the show, took advantage of the time it took my husband to drink his flight to color a picture of Rose Nylund standing at the stove. Maybe she was making her famous chipped beef from St. Olaf? Thank you for being a friend, Beachwood Blendery.

The "old fashioned" is no joke -- bourbon barrel aged brown with cherries. I love this beer!

STEPH JUDGEMENT: Nice variety of hand-crafted sour beers in a friendly, relaxed environment. No food offered but you can bring your own. I'm not a HUGE sour fan so I didn't think I'd like this place and its offerings as much as I did. My favorite beer here is probably their least sour one, though, so there's that. It's called the Old-Fashioned and it's a bourbon barrel-aged brown ale with hints of cherries--SO good. Due to their low production volume, you're only allowed 2 tasters per visit, but you can get smaller pours and stuff so that didn't put me out at all. The bartenders (pourers?) here were all super-cool and will answer any questions you may have about the beers, etc. A must-visit for beer lovers, especially if sours are your bag.

The Blendery is currently open by reservation only. Please feel free to call 562-436-4020 and leave your contact information if you'd like to request a reservation. Thanks!

Any estimated dates for when you will reopen for social distanced on-site seatings?

Hi John, Thanks so much for your question. We are absolutely looking forward to having everyone back here again in the near future. As you know, this is a brand new situation…

Do they show Raider games here?

    Yes sports

    Is it dog friendly?

Yep. Every time I'm there there are dogs.

    Are kids allowed?

From what I've seen, they're not banned by any means. Patrons just ask that they are behaved. :)

How does the beer lists compare to the bbq location?

It's totally different - it's totally sour focused, but experimental sours, so that's mostly what they have here. They often have one or two of their sours at the main brewery location, but most of them are only available here. Blendery also…

Communication leading up to our wedding was consistently poor. Emails and messages often went unanswered for days, which created a lot of unnecessary anxiety during an already stressful time. During our final walkthrough, Ciara reassured us that we would not be rushed to remove our belongings after the wedding and could even return Monday or Tuesday. She specifically shared that she had been rushed after her own wedding at this venue and did not want to do that to us. Unfortunately, the day after our wedding, that is exactly what happened. Our vendor arrived during the 12-2 p.m. pickup window we were given, only to find the venue locked. After multiple unanswered calls and texts, Ciara arrived nearly an hour later, resulting in our vendor charging us for the wait. At that same time, we were suddenly told all of our belongings needed to be removed that day, giving us essentially an hour to figure it out; completely contradicting what we had been told during our final walkthrough. Our wedding itself was wonderful, but the lack of communication and follow-through caused so much unnecessary stress before and immediately after it. As beautiful as the space is, based on our experience with management, we would not host another event here or recommend it to friends or family.

My wife and I discovered The Modern during a special event right before I proposed, and we knew that if we ever got married, this would be the place. Following our engagement, we had a tour of the place with Mary, and we were 1000% convinced with the place since Mary came with the package lol. The communication throughout the course of our planning was outstanding, and both Abel and Mary addressed all our inquiries and concerns without hesitation and with clear answers. While the conditions of the contract initially seemed rigid, all guidelines and expectations were stated clearly, and both Abel and Mary provided all the support necessary to ensure the vendors understood and executed per the contract accordingly. All terms of the pricing were transparent, and we found the costs to be worth every penny, as we were 1000% satisfied with the venue. Through the course of our two-year planning, Abel and Mary were available and offered the walkthroughs necessary for the vendors and us to plan accordingly and execute an impeccably perfect wedding. Mary did an outstanding job and exerted so much patience with both my Wife and I through the course of food and drink tasting. She assessed our preferences and perfected our specialty cocktails and food menu to reflect my wife, our guests, and I. We appreciated the opportunity to host our rehearsal brunch at their Kitchen and Bar located below the venue. Our guests enjoyed getting a small taste of the delicious food and drinks they'd be having the following day at the actual wedding. The day of the wedding could not have unfolded so perfectly, both aesthetically and logistically. Abel and Mary coordinated and collaborated in unison with our group of vendors, and they really outdid themselves by providing the foundation to our dream wedding, literally. They did an amazing and efficient job at flipping the venue space for the reception. All while our guests were enjoying themselves in the lavish lounge during cocktail hour. The venue itself is perfect. It is very modern, clean, spacious, classy, and their furniture and greenery were the perfect accessories necessary to complete our wedding day. And that's not all. The VIEWS are one of a kind as the venue has an entire wall space made up of windows that overlooks Long Beach Airport and an outdoor terrace that allowed us and our guests to enjoy the views. We literally had airplanes flying up and down during our entire wedding, with a grand exit of us flying off in a helicopter. My wife, our guests, and I cannot believe how perfect the entire day turned out. They will not stop raving about how perfect and beautiful everything turned out. From the food to the drinks and the wonderful bartenders, and of course to how magically, beautiful our wedding was. None of which would have been possible without the fantastic venue, Abel, Mary and their team. While we are saddened to turn the chapter from the wedding planning and wedding, we are so so so happy we chose The Modern. I had breakfast here this weekend. The waiters were friendly and attentive as always, and it's nice to see familiar faces. The food, though, has really gone downhill. I'm not a picky eater, but the biscuits and gravy were just... gross. The biscuit was flat and mushy, and the gravy was bland and clearly out of a can or bag. It even had these thin, uniform little squares of sausage in it, more like something you'd find in dog food than the small chunks of fried, browned sausage you'd expect. Biscuits and gravy is like 90% just made of flour, so I have a hard time believing the premade version is actually saving much money over making it fresh. The kitchen already goes through so much sausage that it seems like an easy fix to use real drippings and meat instead of whatever this was. The hash browns were bland too, undercooked inside and overcooked outside. And the "maple syrup" was high fructose corn syrup with brown dye and flavoring. No one wants to feed that to their kids. I'd happily pay a dollar more for real syrup. Everyone's cutting costs these days, but there has to be more pride and care put into the food you serve patrons. We love this restaurant and hope to see the quality back to where it was. The waiters and cooks deserve better ingredients to work with, and the neighborhood regulars who count on this place deserve better too.

Instead of ensuring our desserts were taken care of. Would not recommend for a wedding.
