The inside vibe is super cool! We really liked the Pine st IPA. Also, the food is really good. We had the Chicken Zingers and the Alter single sliders -- upgraded to tots. The Zingers are def made in house and were delicious! The sliders were also very good and do yourself a favor and get those tots! The only reason it's not a 5 is because the guy behind the bar (slick back blonde hair and mustache (sort of)) was an ass. He acted like he was doing us a favor to even get us a beer. The other guy, who might be the manager or owner who was running food, was awesome and made up for it. But seriously need to get rid of the other guy because he sucks!!!

I parked at the lot on 3rd and Pine, so this location was a bit hidden while crossing the street. That entrance is for the coffee shop, but if you enter across from Marathon Burger, that's directly into the brewery. The service was great and the interior was kind of dead in a peaceful way. No one loud or obnoxious. I ordered a slice of pepperoni & sausage, Pine Ave IPA, and the small 8 piece wings with Lemon Pepper and Thai Chili sauce on the side. Everything was delicious and the wings were large & crispy. I would definitely return and hit the coffee shop also.

I actually came here to work on a Tuesday night and it was perfect! It's a huge brewery, so you can head to a corner where you're more secluded from the crowds. There's a large variety of good beers, yummy bar foods, and a game on the TVs. There is free, fast wifi, and a coffee shop open in the mornings. This just might be the most underrated spot for all times of day in Long Beach.

Ambiance: this brewery is located in an interesting repurposed building, high ceiling and spacious inside, they serve coffee during the day and beer at night Service: you place the order and grab the drink at the bar, and then servers will bring the food to your table, mostly self served place for water and seating Food & Drink: classic bar restaurant food with variety choice of draft beers ALTAR SAUSAGE Pizza - *** red sauce base, shredded mozzarella, spicy Italian sausage, jalapeno, mushroom, parmesan cheese, spicy and tasted old Fuzzy Lighthouse - **** New England Hazy IPA, bold taste, recommend Price: decent quality and affordable prices, expect $20 per person for a quick bite

Made a last minute pivot to Altar as the original place that we wanted to go to was packed with an approx 1 hour wait. Family in the area recommended that I pay a visit. Service: Came in around 9pm with a party of 5. Place is self seating and we were fortunate to find a spot just in front of the taps. Advised staff that we were first time visitors and requested recommendation. Staff member assisting was helpful and pleasant. Our drinks came out approximately 2-3 minutes while our food took around 5 minutes. Very fast turnaround. 5 of 5 stars. Food/Offering: Our group got the Tropical Golden and POG seltzers. Didn't really deviate from my drink as we were kinda pressed for time. The Tropical Golden is a very light, tropical tasting ale. I enjoyed this pour a lot (had 3). I'm not surprised if this is one of their top 3 beers on tap. The POG, according to the fam, it's just like your normal seltzer however the tropical flavors do stand out versus your usual commercial stuff. We also sliders and pretzel bites to share. Bites were very good. Also, I purchased a 4 pack of Tropical Golden to go =) 5 of 5 stars. Overall: As a first time visitor, I enjoyed my experience and highly recommend. Look forward to the next visit when in the area.

Came here yesterday with a friend to do some work in the back at the cafe, but it was closed. The waiter was great though, she grabbed me one of the herbal teas from the cafe and we grabbed a couple slices for lunch. My friend and I worked here for several hours on a Friday afternoon. They waiter was awesome and checked in with us throughout our time, filling our waters, removing things from the table and letting us work away for a few hours. They also have WiFi if needed. I've been here many times before to watch a game, even to do yoga upstairs a couple times. Each time I appreciate how versatile this space is. It's really a gem and the service is always appreciated.

This review is for the venue upstairs. I have had a couple of slices of pizza at Altar Society Brewing which were good, but I have frequented the beautiful venue many times for events, mostly by Secret Service LBC. It was originally a Masonic temple built in 1903 with a really high wooden ceiling, which has been well preserved with ornate paintings. At the end of the building, there's a cool geometric wood design that serves as a focal point, especially when the disco ball in the center of it reflects light throughout the room. Multiple chandeliers are hung throughout and the walls are lined with brick. There is even a third level with a smaller room, restrooms and a bar. The third level also has a lovely bridal suite that remains locked for privacy. The bartenders have all been awesome, especially Casey, who took good care of my friends and I who performed on Halloween. I love this venue and will continue to go as long as there are events here! It would be a great place for a wedding too. Street parking is available in the area as well as a structure on 3rd between Pine and LB Blvd that is free for the first 2 hours.

A wedding in a semi goth vibe was striking here ...

Went here for a wedding reception. It's a decent reception space - open floors and no obvious hazards. Parking is in a nearby structure and wasn't bad by long beach standards. Everything plumbing wise was clean and worked. Same with elevator. People associated with venue seemed nice and helpful. The food was good, but not sure how much of that was on them. (If you've been around a while you might remember this space as an eclectic furniture place back in the day.)

My friend and I wanted some pizza and went to another restaurant but it was full. We walked further along the blvd and saw this restaurant and tried it out. We found parking a few blocks away and it was not a far walk. Once we got in, we sat and I walked to the bar to order. It is a seat yourself environment. We decided to go with the veggie pizza but did not notice the pesto drizzle on the menu. When we received the pizza it was super hot and the bread was a little stiff, cant find the right word but it wasn't hard. The pizza lacked cheese and had more veggie and pesto drizzle then anything. We decided to add a salad just for some greenery with the bread. I ordered an IPA which was not bad but the other options were OK. We visited between 5p-6p , it was quiet with some families in the place. Pretty chill

Super fun brewery! It was one of our stops on your Los Angeles Brewery Passport. The drinks were good. One of the favorite parts of this place was the claw machine! We were in and out. Will need to come back!

Visited the cafe and tried the smokestack cappuccino and breakfast sandwich. Cappuccino was delicious! The sandwich was pretty tasty, came with tots. Delicious experience, look forward to coming again.

A large brewery setting offering a great selection on tap, awesome pizza and community events upstairs. I was able to catch the game here and meet friends plenty of time. The pizza is a bit pricey but when they make it well, its mind blowing. Seasonal beers are fun but tastings are offered to ensure you choose the right one. Staff is helpful but its such a large place and you can be lost in the crowd when its busy. Stop by for a drink or bite, you won't regret it.

Food - 5/5 Drinks - 5/5 Service - 5/5 Price - 4/5 Parking - n/a Ambiance- 4/5 Great brewery with excellent unique selections on tap (try the Java Juice if you like coffee, super tasty and unique). Cauliflower buffalo bites were delicious. Great spot for a beer and a bite to watch a game.

Tell me to meet you somewhere and I'll be there. Simple as that and less stress for me. Anyways, that's how we ended up at this place. Trying to find happy hour with food in the area was somewhat a challenge. Either they were finishing up or it wasn't that interesting on the menu. Of course some places offered amazing drink deals but no food. We ended up here actually across the street still looking up for places but the rooftop patio was what caught our attention. The restaurant itself looked bare as there was no one inside. Still on the early side but noticing people going in and then heading up stairs. After a few debates on here and there, we gave up and found our way here. Checked in with the host, letting him know that we just wanted happy hour upstairs. It was about two flights of stairs which the place looked quite industrial with all the metal beams and stairs. Downstairs was beautiful but completely emptied. Everyone wanted to utilize the rooftop patio as it was beautiful out. We were greeted by someone which mentioned to us that any bar seating was available. There was a section towards the back that was pretty lively. I think it was booked for a group. Instead of the bar area, we asked to sit along the rooftop counter that looks out to the street and building across the street. Way better view and perfect way to spend the afternoon hours. Staff were all pretty sweet and very friendly. Whatever we needed they were they to help. Both the regular menu and happy hour menu were quite impressive. As we just wanted HH, it was given. They had drink special for 10.00 and small bites for 10.00 as well. Didn't hesitate and started off with some drinks. The red sangria with mixed fruits was a nice clean and refreshing treat. Tasteful without that aftertaste. And the Le Pistolet Fumant, a delectable tasty drink with mezcal with a hint of pineapple. And other well drink that was perfect for a nice afternoon. HH drink special was quite tasty to start off. Food wise, started off with an order of the Caesar salad, simple but delicious. Fresh crisp Romaine lettuce and slices of Parmesan and crouton bits. Nice crunch with each bite. The dressing, wow pretty tasty. And an order of the Mac and Cheese . Most places it's either a hit or a miss and let me say it was a HIT. Quite cheesy and full of flavors that a second order was had. A dish I do recommend for HH. We also had an order of the Brussels sprouts which was excellent. A nice glaze and crunchy with chunks of house cured pancetta. Nice big chunks I must say. Lastly the beef sliders with Wagyu beef patties. Honestly, this was the least favorite of the dishes we got. You would think it sounded great but it was quite tasteless and nothing major to report on. Served with brioche bun and shredded lettuce and tomatoes and a lemon aioli. I had high hope for it when I saw the group next to us order it but it was a little disappointing. Overall, the Mac and cheese, Caesar salad and Brussels sprouts were all hits. The sliders, disappointing. Other items on HH didn't look too ingesting for us but it was for other people. The rooftop lounge and bar area was the place to be when we were there. It picked up real fast after we got seated. Picnic style tables being occupied by large groups before HH ended. Just the rooftop alone was great and beautiful. It a place that's good for a drink and meal with friends. Downstairs was beautiful but seemed more of an intimate experience. Overall, it was a great choice for a meal during HH.

At the start, it was a little slow with service. Once we were taken care of and ordered it was a little better. Menu is pretty reasonable with items. Went with an order of the fish and chips. Nice portion of 3 pieces of fish and battered nicely. Not overly battered and it was quite tasty. And accompanied by seasoned fries which were delicious paired with tater sauce and ketchup. And the poke bowl. I've had that before which was great then and also this time. A decent size bowl with pieces of both tuna and salmon and a couple of halves shrimps. That was paired with edamame, mixed greens, a scoop of white rice, cucumber, carrots and a half of an avocados and a handful of fried onions. The dressing was quite tasty, a poke sauce. Food was good which is always a plus. The view was nice and beautiful but the downfall, the service was very whatever. We barely saw our waitress and trying to get a refill was pretty non existent. Thank goodness for one of the gentlemen cleaning up around us and noticed that our glasses were empty and came over to see if we would like a refill. Besides that, it was great.

Simple food goes a long way. There were a couple of us so we grabbed a few things to share. Started off with the pretzel balls with cheese dip and honey mustard and the chips with queso cheese dip. Pretzel was tasty and outdid the queso dip. Pizzas of course which were pretty big in sizes. A couple of the pizzas and a salad did four of us with leftovers. Once the place was hopping it did take ~20 minutes for some of the tiki drinks, but it was worth the wait for sure - quality takes time - I know my drinks weee good, and I didn't hear anyone else complaining; I'll trade time for tastiness any day. ;) In all I'd certainly return, and I hope to see you there!

My colleagues and I visited Friday night to celebrate a retirement. I loved how expansive the…read morebrewery was with plenty of seating as well as clean bathrooms tucked away from eating & gathering areas. Our beertender, Cleveland, was friendly and helpful without larger group. We noticed there was also a singles night event happening simultaneously and neither party seemed to encroach on the other (again, ample space). I ordered the Seventh Heaven (Hefeweizen) and 7th & Centre (Hazy IPA) - each delivered good flavor profiles, but I'm always partial to a good hazy with citrus. Definitely worth another trip!

Been here several times, so it was overdue for a review. This Brewery has an event almost every day…read morewhich keeps it busy. They have Salsa day, Game day, Poker night, and a couple of other event nights keeps them busy, always enough room for a couple more to join in, so come find a night you'll like and join in. The beers, they didn't have many beers to choose from, one thing about a brewery like PTB is that they are limited to the beers they make, and only four beers to choose from on this night. They were selling small sandwiches from a local vendor for $10.00 dollars, a little high for a small sandwich which was just ok. Bring your own food it would be better. What I did not see was a television, which would be nice if you want to watch a Game or the Olympics that are coming soon. . Street parking only, so you will have to walk st least a block. Worth coming again. Check to see what they are having each day. This review could have easily been 3 stars, but I am optimistic that things will get better here.
