What happened to this theater??!! It used to be so nice. We went to a movie last night and the place was filthy! The popcorn tasted funny like it was cheap and stale. The bathroom was really gross. I do like the reclining seats but those even seemed like they are worn out. I come to the movies every weekend because that's what I enjoy doing. However, there's no more than 20 guests so I do not understand why the theaters are still dirty and trash everywhere. I never sit in my purchased seat cause it's always filthy from the last group. During this pandemic I would expect it to be A LOT cleaner. How can this be fixed!? Just left after being in that theater for 4 hours. The movie was awesome and they chair was comfy but that was it. The women's restroom was horrendous. Wet floors,smelled like a truck stop and broken toilet paper holders. Then the entire theater was so incredibly HOT! In the theater there were 2 small ceiling fans that did absolutely nothing. My entire back and legs were sweating from sitting in the leather chairs. It just made us all a little grouchy and we couldn't wait to get in the car with AC! For the amount of money people spend there, we should get a clean bathroom and AC. Oh yes, when we were leaving the actual theater, the trash was overflowing. My daughter has the movie pass and forgot her license so they wouldn't let her in. We texted a copy of her license to her and the managers, Ava Jones, Tyler Rebe, and Chelsea Torres and they still refused her admission. So my daughter had to pay full admission price in order to enter. This happened on a Monday evening and they wouldn't even accommodate her. Our entire family has the movie pass and I will be cancelling the membership. This is one of the worst customer service incidents I've ever experienced. read more

I'm baffled at the bad reviews for this place...I LOVE this theater and honestly bad reviewers: You could be at WAYYYYYY worse places (like Harkins at AZ Mills). AMC staff is always friendly and the popcorn is the bomb. I love the recliner seats and the experience I've had at every movie I've been to. I have come here numerous times and have never been in a bad situation. Now granted, I cannot speak on the the cleanliness of their restroom situation as I haven't used theirs, but I like the theater overall and will continue to come here! read more

I tried. I tried really hard, over and over again. I live right down the street from this theater and really that's the only reason I've given it so many chances. I'm hardly active on yelp but it's gotten to the point where I have to say something. The bathrooms are absolutely disgusting and reek of urine and sewer. The concessions, soda, and popcorn areas are always nasty. When I say nasty I mean food all over the place soda and slushes all over everything (floor, counters, knobs), and ice literally overflowing to the floor from the machines. Now because this particular location is always so gross I don't buy concessions anymore and won't use the restroom (luckily I live close by and just go before and after at home. Tmi? Sorry but seriously every time I've been in those bathrooms EVERYONE is complaining and half literally retching from how disgusting they are) Normally I get to my seat watch the movie and get out. Except the last time I went we saw Wonder Woman and they improperly listed the movie we purchased tickets for and failed to advise that it was for "sensory impaired" so we get there, no previews, movie randomly starts and looks like a shaky 3D version. NO ONE in the theater knew what was happening and an employee tried explaining it was for sensory impaired but also 3D and brought 3D glasses which didn't work because it wasn't even 3D. The entire theater expect one person lined up in the lobby to get refunds or exchange for the next showtime. Fine. Things happen, they gave free movie passes for each ticket holder to compensate. Forward to tonight. It's Friday, I expect some chaos and mess from being busy but bathrooms are still a quarantine zone and this time the AC just STOPS WORKING! That's it for me. I pay more to go to AMC because it's supposed to be nicer but I've never in my life been to a Harkins this nasty no matter what area it's in and normally AMC lives up to the expectations and you get what you pay for. This location must be horribly managed to be so awful and likely only has continued patrons because it's the nearest theater in the Ahwatukee area. I'm telling you though, it's probably worth it to just drive to Chandler Fashion Center and go to the Harkins. The seats aren't recliners but it's cheaper, cleaner, and honestly the "rewards" program AMC has isn't as good as $1.25 for the Harkins refillable cup (I say that being a paid member of the AMC rewards) Looking for a nice date night and a plain old theater just won't cut it? AMC Esplanade (across from the Biltmore) does it right with even better seats in the Cinema Suites plus actual meals and appetizers as well as an actual waiter that serves you that food AND alcohol! You don't have to get up for anything but the bathroom which you guessed it, DOES NOT smell like urine and feces. Thanks for listening guys! Very convenient to order your tickets and seats online. Definitely worth paying for they Stubs premiere. A little disappointed I was not notified my rewards had expired so I paid the online convenience fees, etc and when I got there and realized it expired I renewed my membership but they would not reimburse the fees. This location is very clean. The lines at the kiosk to check in to get your tickets are usually pretty long so make sure you get there early. read more

Went there last nite (4:30 movie) and could not believe the price of tickets. Concession is ridiculous and the restrooms both men's and women's restrooms were both very dirty. My husband told me after leaving the room that the trash can was so full paper towels were all over the floor. I found a similar situation as well. Management does not seem to be concerned about cleanliness. Also the doors leaving the restrooms were horrible. Poor paint... chipping, sticky. Will take my business Harkins from now on! read more

The only reason we came here is we had a gift card. Theater is OK. Don't like that pretty much everything is done via kiosk. To me it says we don't really care that you're here. Get your tickets and go away. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I like to actually be greeted and speak to a person when I buy my tickets. Strange set up with all the kiosks and such in the lobby and only one customer service person with a long line. Not a fan of the reserved seating. The only seats left were in the front row. If it weren't for the reclining seats, we wouldn't have been able to see the screen. Reclining seats were nice and comfortable though. Overpriced for what you get. Food is way overpriced and no souvenir cups. No free popcorn refills on the jumbo $9.50 tub. Forget their $15 Stub Club! $15 to join your club, AMC?? Really? 25 mins of previews was excessive. The movie was supposed to start at 230 and didn't start until 255 due to all the previews! All other theaters in the area have 3-5 previews lasting for a total of about 10 mins. Almost 1/2 an hour is too much! Bathrooms reeked of an outhouse! We used 2 different ones, one before and one after the movie, and they were equally bad. Not enough stalls. I will stick with Harkins. They have actual people to greet you when you purchase your tickets from an actual cashier. FREE movie club. Large, clean bathrooms. More food for less money. FREE popcorn refills. Souvenir cups. Overall more bang for your buck. I will only come to AMC again if someone gives me a gift card. Otherwise, I will save my hard earned money and go to Harkins. read more

Overpriced, very disappointed. AMC used to be better before the remodel. The popcorn was stale. Not coming again.

So annoyed ... Paid for a Fathom event tonight for two people (over $32) which I don't mind because I love the comedian. However, the movie started 30 minutes late and when it did start it had no sound for 20 minutes. At the end there was a live feed interview with the comedian, but the audience didn't get to see it because the feed was cut by 30 minutes because it started late. Don't go to this theater. I heard people asking for the manager and the poor kid at the ticket counter got stuck with people because the manager wouldn't come down. I am going to ask tomorrow if the is a customer service office to get some money back. read more

I'm only giving a one store to the rude service from the young guy at the concession stand, I normally give 5 stars, I enjoy going to the movies there. I went to go see the movie "Yesterday" which by the way was boring as hell, I was trying not to fall asleep thankfully my mom enjoyed it. Anyways before the movie we went to the concession stand and we tried to order some food, I understand that those new self serve machines are there to help out in cases there are long lines but there wasn't anyone there besides us. I'd rather talk to someone so I can get my order quickly I asked the young guy do I have to order through machine or can I order with you? and he says well you have to use it cuz it's a test site . that was his ONLY EXPLANATION. I tried 2 more times (at this point a line was forming & now my anixtey is kicking in) Then an older couple comes up on my right and orders food & he helps them!! So I'm like what the hell?? so I go over to him..I'm like listen I'm not using that machine. It's taking longer. He just stands there seems annoyed. I bite my tongue & order my food. This would have been all avoided if this punk would've just helped me out the first time and not be an ass about it & now you have a huge line. This was yesterday 7/31 around 4pm. So sad to see the disorganization at the concession stand. We waited for 15 minutes to order popcorn. I don't understand why it takes so long. They no longer have to pour soda because it's self-serve. And then there is the Premier Member line that is a joke... employees don't verify if you are a member. You can jump ahead of others waiting in the other line. This concept would appear to be efficient but it is NOT. When we arrive to our seats someone is sitting in one of our seats...I guess he didn't like his front row seat he had purchased. The ladies bathroom was messy. Where was management? Wow what a mess AMC has made of this location. They upgraded setting and did a great job a couple years back to streamline for people who pay the yearly membership for "premier". I didn't even mind the concept to reserve seating. That I think can be a good and bad thing where you can choose your seat but have to definitely plan in advance to go to the show vs a last minute decision to see a film. Now it would appear to cut back expenses further and cut staffing they've implemented touch screen kiosks for concessions. Though they have brought more options it is a horrible experience to actually get them. The kiosks declined 4 of our cards when trying to place the order. We ended up going to wait in a sea of people who also had issues to order popcorn and drinks. There was no as semblance for a line by the counter and the folks working were all over the place desperately trying to service everyone. I would hate to have to work there. Many customers complaining. Many! And then the kiosks at the counter weren't even working for credit so folks had to pay cash. Not many people carry around $50 cash anymore let alone for popcorn, candy and drinks. After a 25 minute debacle to get our snacks, 2 of the beverage dispensers were out of ice and syrup, the salt and butter bars were out of napkins and a total mess and the bathrooms were disgustingly dirty. All in the name of cutting costs, employee staffing appropriately, servicing the customer. I am greatly disappointed that AMC has taken this route of managing their theater in this fashion. I was a devote Harkins fan until this tukee location cleaned up with renovating the seats and pre-selection seating. I love the AMC app to be able to purchase and track my reward points however the live in person experience at this theater was one to make me not want to go back. I felt bad for the employees at this location subjected to these working conditions and hope that many patrons write in with their experience to get concessions until AMC corporate takes a better look at customer service and makes some much needed changes at our neighborhood theater. read more

I feel terrible writing this, but management needs to be aware. My husband and I were there for the 10:40 showing of Logan last night after having not been back to this theater for 10 years. The renovations were great, but the staff was horrendous. I stood in front of the kiosk where 2 teenagers girls sat talking, literally less than 6 feet away, trying to figure out how to scan my QR. I had to interrupt her to find out I could go straight to the podium. Then, at the concession counter, after ordering $40 in overpriced, sub-par popcorn, soda and nachos, the cashier couldn't be bothered to actually hand us our bags of popcorn that were plopped down my someone else on the edge of her side of the counter, my husband had to reach across and grab them. No "thank you", no " sorry about that", not even "enjoy your show" . She was too absorbed in her own conversation to be bothered to notice our shock at having been treated so rudely. Seriously, the people who worked the late shift Saturday night deserve zero stars. And since I know other AMC theaters have also undergone renovations, I'll probably end up going else where. I really did like the renovations, the seats were super comfortable, love the soda machines, and seriously, the ticket prices are very good. However, I don't care how good a ticket price is, I'm not spending money at a place where I can't be acknowledged as a human being nor treated with common courtesy. TL;DR Seats, soda, price=good. Cancelled showing within 1.5 hours of the show time. I had checked showtimes about an hour and a half before I left my house. They were re-showing a movie that won an Oscar and were the only theater in the area to show it. So I drove a decent distance to go the the 6:20pm. When I got to the theater, that showtime was mysterious missing and only the later showing was left. I checked my phone and a few movie showtime websites still showed the 6:20pm showing so the cancellation had to be really recent. In addition, the next four or five days all still had the 6:20pm showing so it wasn't like I just misread it or something. I wasn't going to stick around 3 hours for the next showing since it'd be too late at night anyways. I get cancelling a showing the day before but a few hours? Nah, that's ridiculous. read more

I enjoy this theater and movies are an affordable $5.19 before noon (unless a new release). The bathrooms today were awful though. It appeared none of the toilets flushed- and half of that could have human user error but I honestly think the sensors weren't working. Some of the patrons leave something to be desired, being loud and obnoxious or looking at their phones in a dark theater. So I feel bad docking a star due to the people coming here and not the venue itself, but let's do a better job of actually coming into the theaters during the movies and make sure everyone is following the rules. Also check the restrooms instead of chatting with friends. Otherwise the seats are comfortable and prices are good. Concessions are high. I'm a perks member but haven't seen the benefit yet. read more

This theatre is actually really nice, very clean, the staff are very friendly, and I love those red leather Recliners. I'd give this theatre a extra star but there's one thing their lacking and that's Dolby Cinema. Overall I just got done watching Insidious: The Last Key at this theatre and I highly recommend coming here the Parking is easier and it's not as crowded as the Harkins Theatre at Chandler Mall. read more

Very nice theater. The staff at the snack counter were on the ball and very efficient in getting the crowds taken care of quickly. The seats were very comfortable reclining seats. It's in a very nice upscale, safe community of restaurants, wine bars and the like. I'll definitely be going back. Ok only one bad thing. This AMC theaters is a true mess of the future... from the moment we walked in everyone was guiding us towards the automated machines to pay with credit cards. It was not organized and the staff were not friendly or welcoming. After getting tickets we went to the concessions for the popcorn and icees. Once again, told to use the automated order machines with no assistance. After waiting a few minutes for our order the lady behind the counter asked what our order was. We had not heard her call our order and it was sitting behind a pop up ad for another movie. She explained with great attitude "your order is right here" followed by an eye roll. This has been an EXTREMELY upsetting experience because coming to the movies is supposed to be such a fun and enjoying experience. AMC Ahwatukee 24 has really let us down. read more

I recommend not going to the AMC location for multiple reasons. I went to this location and the chairs were not working honestly this was not that big of a deal. When the staff was informed of this issue nothing was done to help with the poor experience. On 3/9/2022 I went to the 9pm viewing of the Batman. An hour and a half in the sound goes out and the movie shut off. It was obvious that it was not the end of the move, matter of fact it looked to be the climax of the movie. After waiting for a moment to see if it would be fixed nothing happened. The crowd that was viewing the movie went to the lobby and not one staff member was available. When I went back with my receipt and ticket stub I was told I was unable to receive a refund because the system did not allow for them to go back to view the transaction. It's pretty sad to see the organizations stocks drop to where they can be out of Business in a few years but nothing is done for your paying customers. There's a reason there is an overall 2.5 stars for this location. read more

This is our regular theater; prior to kids we were here probably weekly. Less often now. The rennovations are nice; it can't quite live up to the Dine In experience like at AMC Esplanade, but is a nice upgrade. Remember to reserve your seats in advance so that you can sit together as a party. Customer service is not bad, nor especially good; just gets the job done. No complaints. There are lots of great food options nearby for food and drinks before or after the show. read more

I have avoided this theater for months due to past unpleasant experiences. I see no improvement since my last visit; floors are filthy, counters are covered in food and liquids, half of the soda machines don't work. I refuse to go in the restroom. One trip to a Harkins theater by AMC management would put everything into perspective and identify those areas that need improvement. read more

Hadn't been to an AMC in years, but after experiencing the disappointment of the Harkins redesign, we recently tried AMC. We've been back twice in two weeks to see the new Star Wars (which we also saw initially at a revamped Harkins and found a miserable experience). The seats are more comfy and better positioned than Harkins'. The sound system is clearer without being so loud it's physically painful. The ticket purchasing kiosks are easier to use. The concessions are still organ donor levels of costly, naturally, but they've got a better selection than Harkins, too. I'm a convert. G'bye Harkins, hello again, AMC. They just remodeled, and it sucks. The AC doesn't work yet so waiting in the lobby is unbearable now that it's hot outside. They combined the box office and the automated box office line, then mixed in a lane to go through when you already have tickets. Except its confusing so people are standing in the wrong line. The whole benefit of using the ABO is to save time. Now its part of the line for customers to do, and many have no clue what they are doing. So plan extra time to get your ticket because the lines are now long filled with people who don't know how to use technology and people in the wrong lane. You'll need a good 12-15 minutes now to get your ticket. Assuming you dont pass out from the lack of AC while waiting in the line. Renovation created a horrible traffic flow. The place seems to be always dirty, I thought maybe it was the fact I would always go at night but even on the early screenings it's the same thing. It always seems short staffed and might be why it's not clean. The pop corn is either very stale or salty. The staff you do get to interact with are friendly. Bathrooms need to be kept up. read more

I was so disappointed with my experience at the AMC. It was very disheartening. Ive avoided going here because people are rude and talk through the movie. I really like the bar tenders and the food so i decided to give it another chance. Plus i was so excited to watch the new movie; End game. As always, people showed up late on their phones talking and being disruptive. I ignored it and kept watching the movie. Although , the food was great and the attendants did a great job ; there was no policing of the loud disruptive viewers behind me. I finally turned around and asked them politely to turn the light on the phone off, and explained that they were a little loud. Surprisingly, one of them apologized and it stayed that way for a couple minutes. Sadly enough the other viewer needed to make a point and ruined the rest of my movie experience. It was horrible! Phone lights and snickering, obvious defiant chatter to agitate me. One of the others near by had to yell at them to knock it off. That also did nothing. At the end of the movie, i just wanted my check so i could leave. They had not brought it to me??People had gone and left and i was still waiting. I had to go out to get someone to find my attendant to pay my tab. I tried to explain the whole ordeal and he did not care although he did apologize for the wait on the check. I'm ok paying more money somewhere else , so i don't have to deal with this place ever again. They wont miss me and the feeling is mutual. read more

I'm all about the new recliner seat movie theatres! This AMC was recently upgraded so we decided to give it a go and was definitely disappointed. Likely due to the extreme heat, all patrons were helped inside at the kiosks rather than outside at the normal ticket stand. However, there was zero coordination and people were cutting without realizing and many customers needed assistance using the machines. After much wasted time, we stood in line for popcorn as we stepped all over candy wrappers, straws and more dropped popcorn. Not really enjoying the experience thus far we headed to our seats. As soon as I sat down I could tell it was going to be uncomfortably hot. On this particular day it was 120 degrees outside and probably 82 degrees inside. It made our fun date out of the heat drag on as a musty sweat smell lingered in the theatre. Definitely check out the other AMC locations such as Stapley or Mill Ave for a better experience. read more
