The tickets was purchased a week ago and for no reason they ended up cancelling the tickets today 7/12/2021 at 1:39pm and the items was refunded. Seats are mostly torn and dirty and some are broken. Bathrooms are dirty. When you purchase something they round off to the higher amount when you pay cash, because they say thats what they do because they don't allways have change. read more

AMC Assembly Row is a good place to see a film. Nothing is shown that is avant-garde, of foreign, or different from every other set of screens in Boston (a terrible film town), but a solid experience. The exhibition quality is good-plus, the seats comfortable, the overall cleanliness is good (especially given the amount of traffic). Popcorn is sub-par, an industrial production which results in a tough product. The candy selection is very good, and the Coke machines function appropriately. The number of trailers can often result in a parking charge, done the ads push start times back 20 minutes or more. This presents a problem for films with a run time of more than 2 hours. Complaints aside, the experience at Assembly Row is light-years ahrad of many of their now-shuttered properties, like Harvard, Cheri, and the pit of Copley. read more

This place has the worst customer service ever. I can't believe it. Especially, the manager Greg! This guy will give you the evening you thought you would like to spend well with your friend and family turn out to be ugly. How can anyone promote him to be a manager. You won't find your lazy -boy here in every seat unfortunately. When I went to the IMAX, I was in the last row of the first section (in the front) and it was normal seating with no reclining. Even the girl scanning my ticket had no clue !!! Then when I went for a normal movie, I saw all the seats in front reclined but the seats in the normal middle/back section did not - but the couple seats in the sides did. We got a couple seat and the top of one of the seats had a big rip. My seat was sort of slanting into my BF's seat when we put the armrest up that was inbetween us. read more

Well we've been here three times in past three years and the chairs really need to be reupholstered. we have reserved seats so can't switch spots. They also need to actually have a functioning coffee bar instead of just teasing you with the machines but not really having it because they are "out of filters". Sound is good video is good so I guess that's what really matters. But then again we did pay $just under 20 each with fees for our imax experience so maybe they can kick it up a notch. read more

The seats don't lean back unless you're in the first three rows (which i think most people rather not be that close to the screen) and the majority of the leather seats are super torn up. The bar is nice and pretty reasonably priced for a movie theater, which is the reason I gave three stars instead of two. This is a good place to see a movie. I recently went on a school night to see a newer film. The theater was very quiet, which was super-nice. I can see it being a bit of a headache on a Friday or Saturday, but it was very pleasant on a random Wednesday. We were surprised to find a bar in the theater. Drinks were very reasonably priced, and you can them into your movie with you. A big plus in my book! Our seats weren't quite as comfortable as the reclining ones I've experienced in Braintree, but they were a lot nicer than your average theater. Reserved seating is always a plus. read more

The AMC in Assembly Row is a brand new movie theater and it is very nice but the only question you should be asking is this... Is this theater better than the IMAX in Reading? In my opinion, the gold standard in Greater Boston. I have only went into their IMAX theater, as this place has a number of different screens. The first thing you'll notice is the massive seats, they are so big that you'll never have an elbow battle with your neighbor. This place also serves booze, which is pretty cool. However as far as the IMAX screen goes it is significantly smaller than the IMAX in Reading and I would argue that the one in Reading also has a better sound system. The screen is more like IMAX-lite at Assembly Row. While this is an excellent theater I think the slight edge still goes to the one in Reading. read more

We had purchased our movie tickets online earlier so we didn't have to get there super early to find seats. I thought that was the best thing ever! How come this wasn't thought of sooner? I thought it was really cool that there were semi-private sections with a partial wall for two people on the sides suitable for dates. Ticket prices were reasonable at $12.50 for normal screenings and $ 16.50 for 3D with an additional $1.00 processing fee per ticket if you purchase online. We picked up tickets in the lobby through a self kiosk, otherwise we would have to wait in the long line. We took the escalators up the stairs into the 2nd floor lobby featuring beautiful pendants. There were additional opportunity to buy tickets. Although MacGuffins wasn't open, we sat in the bar tables as we waited for our friends to arrive. One of my favorite features of the theater was the modern concession stand set up as a Market Place convenience store where you can grab whatever you want, pay and go. Although it's pretty convenient, I can see lots of issues that can arise with this as well. For $ 14.00, we got a large soda and popcorn with unlimited refills. I thought this was great for a family. I LOVED the Coca Cola fountain machine with more than 100 drink choices. There was more than 1 diet option! How awesome is that?? Once we grabbed our munchies, we headed towards our theater. The stadium style seats were plush and comfortable made from red leather. There were large and roomy and came with plenty of space for drinks and food. I even had a place to put my purse. I was impressed by the new AMC theater in Somerville. There's easy parking and 12 different theaters. The seats are comfortable, but they don't recline like the ones at AMC Braintree do. You do pick out your seats when you buy tickets though, so there's no awkward fumbling in the dark trying to find a row of seats to fit you and your friends. I saw an IMAX 3D movie there last night, and the sound & visual quality were great! I'm looking forward to coming back when their bar is open to get a drink before a movie. read more

FREE parking is awesome as since I don't have to fight other people for a metered spot downtown. The seats are comfortable and there is plenty of leg space. The only issue I have is that they need to do a better job of cleaning their seats. I was appalled that upon arrival my chair had popcorn in sides of the seat, which I found definitely in unappealing. I was thankful enough there were open seats j could move to. I hope they can do a better job tidying up the theater. I sincerely wish next visit will be a much better experience, since I love the AMC brand. read more

Such a cool movie theater! I didn't feel like I was in Boston/Somerville anymore. Everything inside looks so new and high-tech. There are so many choices at the concession stand and a legit bar! Inside the theater, the seats were big, spacious, and leather! So comfortable! There are wide arm rests so you no longer have to worry about bumpy that random person sitting next to you. Each seat also has 2 cup holders, I don't think I would ever need 2 for a movie, but it's nice if you happen to be really thirsty I guess? On the sides of the theater there are little booths with 2 reclining seats! The arm rests go up making it perfect for you to snuggle up next to your special someone ;] The first few rows in the theater an also recline so you no longer have to strain your neck to see the screen from the front. I've been to an AMC before, but not like this one. It created such a nice environment and created a whole new experience to watching a movie in the theaters! You get to choose your seats when you buy your tickets so you don't have to get there super early to choose your seats or reserve them for friends. Yeah, going to the movies is pretty pricey at the big theaters, but this experience is worth the $12.50! read more

Tried signing up for their A-List subscription program through the app, but of course all we ran into was errors. We then tried signing up at the location and only found a careless manager. We asked management for help and they seemed more than annoyed that we even asked. Then they just refused to assist us at all. I've always gone to Regal in the past and now I know to ONLY go to Regal. Also the whole time we were unsuccessfully signing up, management had THE WORST laugh I've ever heard in my life. BF has been going here with my Son for months and has been telling me all about it and the recliner seats on the side... The Parking lot literally connects you RIGHT to the Doors of the movies... We ordered online so was able to just walk in Effortlessly, got our snacks (FREE REFILLS DRINKS & POPCORN).. OMG - Self Serve Butter (that is a major prob for me - I might have pour 2 full cups on my popcorn that shit was sooo buttery) The seats are GINORMOUS - if I was to lay all on my arm rest & the person next to me laid on theirs, we still wouldnt have touched there is soo much space... The seats over on the side are cool, but I cant stand being off center & Like sitting in the middle. We sure enough made use of the Free Refill and did indeed fill our popcorn... Had a good time & now cant wait to go back! Was soo comfy! read more

Came here to see Star Wars: The Last Jedi with my boyfriend. You get to choose your seats in advance on the website. The seats are comfy, if you pick the seats on the sides you get a full booth to yourselves and the seats lay back. Parking is free under 3 hours, and bathrooms are large and clean. read more

Visited AMC Assembly row several times & I loved it! I've gone there as a date night with my better 1/2 and my children & it was awesome for both occasions. The atmosphere is a lot of fun and the theater itself is large, clean, and comfortable (at least when I was there). The staff is what you would expect. A lot of young people but very friendly and professional. My only complaint is the prices but that's beyond anyone's control that works there. Overall great place :) read more

I had the worst experience at AMC assembly row. The AC wasn't working. They didn't have nachos, pizza or DRINKS. This was by far the worst time I've ever had at the movies. The popcorn was nasty and the candy was hard. I will never return to AMC assembly row. There was also a bunch of young kids switching their seats who clearly snuck into the movies. Absolutely horrible horrible experience. Don't waste your time on coming to such a horrible place. read more

Hmm...been here twice now and here are my general questions/comments for this AMC location: -Design of the theater seating sucks. Why do you only get pull out footrests on the first few front rows of crappy seats and on the sides but not on the better seats in the middle? I don't get it? -No leg room. I'm 5' 6" and I barely had any leg room in front of me. We both had to move from side to side constantly throughout the movie. Overall, one would think that this newer theater would have considered more modern ergonomics to ensure the patrons are more comfortable. Luckily, the movie and the company made up for it. AMC does have other locations that have better seating structure so I'm guessing this location is just a fluke. read more

Accessible via the Orange Line and there is adequate parking in both lots and garages. There is a bar that offers a number of mixed drinks. The bartender is usually pretty slow so leave yourself extra time if you want a drink. You can reserve your seats ahead of time which is nice if you are eating beforehand since you don't have to rush over to get seats. The seats on the sides recline. The seats are pretty comfortable but the theaters are usually chilly so dress in layers. Speaking of food, there are plenty of options in Assembly Row. Overall, the theater is plenty clean so it's usually by go to cinema in Boston. read more

I love this theater. But, unfortunately, more and more often I find that the theater ambiance is disrupted by cellphone users and chatty-kathys. This new generation of narcissistic, cellphone-addicted millennials really sucks. You'd think they'd at least sit in the back of the theater if they're going to pay $20 to sit in a theater on their cellphone and play their ADHD-inducing iPhone game. I would like to give a big 5-Star Shout-Out to the security team here that has been super helpful every time I've gone to them with a complaint about these people. They always do a little investigation, followed by a verbal warning, and then they ultimately kick out the aforementioned asshole. They're awesome. In an effort to solve this issue. It would be awesome if there was a strictly enforced "no cellphone/no distractions" policy on every movie theater showing a movie during its opening weekend. If they want to relax the policy after a movie's initial Thursday - Sunday run, that's fine. Honestly, I think moving forward, it's best to only go here to see a movie during a movie's premiere Thursday Night at 7:00 PM showing [when all the diehard fans are there]. Even then though, I went to see the opening night showing of one of the Fantastic Beasts movie and some HP-nerd wouldn't shut up for the love of Berlin's Beard about her knowledge of the wizarding world throughout the entirety of the almost 3 hour movie. Give me a break. Anyways, that's my rant. Seriously though, consider a strictly enforced "no cellphone/no talking/no BS" policy moving forward, at least on the opening weekends. This theatre WOULD be great, but the picture quality of any non-3D movie shown here is incredibly low-quality. It doesn't have to be, but some combination of incompetence and/or laziness and/or greed makes it impossible to enjoy any normal 2D movie. Here's why: 3D movies are projected through special lenses or "Z screens". This 3D equipment is intended to be removed from projectors before showing regular 2D films. But this theatre, as well as the Boston Common theatre, as a rule does NOT remove the 3D equipment for non-3D movies. What does this do? It cuts the brightness by 50%, reduces contrast, makes the picture MUCH less sharp, and WORSE, it results in red and green fringing on either side of any sharp edges in the image. Going to a movie theatre has become incredibly expensive, and theatres like this one have modern, 4K digital projectors that are supposed to deliver a sharp, vibrant movie-watching experience. Theatres partially justify the hefty price of a movie ticket by pointing to these new projectors. But all that technology, which YOU are paying for when you go to this theatre, is negated by their policy of leaving the 3D equipment in front of the projectors. What should be a fantastic viewing experience is dim, dull, and frustratingly difficult to sit through. Why do they do this? They don't care, because people still come to the theatres. They don't pay to have projectionists in the building (or anyone capable of moving 3D lens a few inches to one side), at least not during peak movie-going hours. We are getting ripped-off because they don't think we'll notice. I've complained about this to the manager-on-duty many times. Each time the response was pretty much the same: "Yes, we leave the 3D lens attached all the time. It's our policy because we want to save money on staffing. We don't have a projectionist even though this is a movie theatre. No one here is qualified, authorized, or interested in addressing the issue. No, you can't speak to anyone with more authority at this theatre. I'll tell you the general manager's name, but there is no way of contacting him. If you'd like, you can call the corporate 800 number and speak to a computer." One time they offered a couple free passes. Great! Free passes to see another poorly projected movie! The last time I went to this theatre, this was literally my conversation with the assistant manager: ME: "The 3D lens is still in front of the projector." MANAGER: "And?" ME: "It's not a 3D movie. It's ruining the picture." MANAGER: "Yes. What do you want ME to do about it?" (Yes, that was literally his response!) I work in the film industry, I love to go to the movies, and I know how movies can and should look. I understand average movie-goers might not realize they are getting ripped-off, but they are. It's incredibly frustrating. Actually, it's infuriating. And no amount of free-passes makes up for it. [In this particular theatre's defense, they aren't the only place doing this. It's a bit of an epidemic. I would not say this is my go to AMC theatre to go to, I only go if I'm in the area or I've already been shopping or dining in assembly and want to watch a movie after. The reason is because the theaters are a lot smaller, the only recliner seats are on the sides which are sectioned off so you get more privacy, they come in twos (these sell out first) or all the way in the front. So unless you want to have your head tilted the entire movie being in the front, it's not the most comfortable seats. Another thing to note is that when movies are released the shows sell out fast so you really have to buy it hours before hand. I bought a ticket for a 10pm show at around 6pm and there were only a couple seats left. Keep in mind this movie had already been out for weeks so this is just an example of how fast they sell. It is not surprising since there is constantly a lot of people in assembly on the weekends. It does have a huge section and variation for snacks and food as well as a full bar, you can bring your drinks inside the theatre to watch your movie which is great. My suggestion is if you go to AMC theaters often to get the stubs membership, you earn points every 1$ you spend, get waived fees when buying tickets online, free refills on large popcorn and more. Overall, it isn't much different than any typical movie theatre you go to, I just personally am not the biggest fan of the seats. I had previously written a pretty great review of this place because it was an amazing alternate theater to the Boston Common. However, I went on Jan. 30 at 7PM and saw THREE mice running around the floor of the theater throughout the entire movie. Right after the previews ended a small little white mouse tucked himself in between the seats in front of me, and then throughout the rest of the movie I'd see a mouse go down the stairs or run back to his corner. It was disgusting and I couldn't focus on the movie whatsoever. I've read that the Boston Common has mice as well, and I believe it but at least I haven't seen them with my own eyes...so the ignorance is bliss. But seeing a mouse run in front of you in a dark movie theater is gross and causes me to second-guess if I should make the commute out here anymore. I just hope the nicer theaters like IMAX and Dolby do not have this problem. AMC contacted me after I made a complaint on Twitter and they were just apologizing and offering compensation. I have A-List, I don't need free movie tickets...what I want is for the theater not to have animals running around underneath your feet while you're supposed to be watching a movie. read more

The bar here (MacGuffins?) charges $19 for two Mich Ultras. When you inquire about the price the cashier gives you attitude. Gotta be honest, probably just stream the next movie that comes out rather than wasting $40 to see it here (the price including a $7 hot dog). I'm pretty pleased that this new movie theater was built in Somerville! (1) it's new, and therefore still really clean and well-kept (2) chairs are comfortable, and depending on the film you can reserve your exact seats and guarantee a place to sit (3) THERE IS A BAR UPSTAIRS. What? Yes, a bar. Who knew?! (4) You can avoid the ticket crowds by using one of the self-serve ticket machines on the top floor. Genius. All in all, yay. read more

Love this place. It's comfy, clean, and just a nice theatre. Staff are cool and not rude to customers and honestly, good customer service keeps customers coming back. I mean, for serious. Love that this theatre has a bar and a huge concession area. Parking is super accessible - my best friend parks on floor 3 right outside of the theatre for easy access. And the reclining seats - one of the best features ever. Staff are nice - they're not mean and they want to make sure you're happy with your movie watching experience. There's no other way to describe this place besides the vibes in there were really bad. It just didn't feel safe, despite the security checking tickets before the snack area. The design of the theater had one tiny door for an exit besides the emergency exits and the hallways/ escalators didn't lead much room in case of emergency. On top of it, the popcorn was so gross and stale, left out all day and the butter was completely out. Even the candy tasted bad. The bathrooms were disgusting and unclean. People were pacing around the hallways and snack areas completely agitated and confused. Wouldn't recommend. read more

It was my favorite theater in Boston but it's quickly becoming worse since the pandemic. The marquee with the films name are always turned off making it difficult to find the right theater when your hands are full. The bathroom sinks are constantly broken, and out of soap. Concession prices have been increased while the sizes have shrunk. 30 minutes of trailers every time including an ad for AMC itself. They're telling us to come to the movies when we've already spent upwards of $30 and just want the movie to begin. The Dolby theater is the best one, good luck paying attention to the film in any other theater though because there are always people checking their phones. read more

Nice theater, but we thought all the seats had the electric recliners and that was not the case. We were in theater 6 and upon arrival we selected seats in the middle. After we got to our seats we realized that only the seats on the far sides (left and right) and the first few rows in front of the screen reclined :(. Our seats were still leather, but they did this weird rocking thing. I recommend confirming which seats recline before selecting seats. This is my favorite theater in the area. it's new and modern and has fantastic seats. However! I am writing this review to single out an individual on the staff. Yesterday I attended a movie in the late afternoon and discovered my phone had slipped between the seats. Long story short, I approached a staff member who was gearing up to get the theater right for the next show. His name was Dan, and he went above and beyond. When we were unable to see my phone by pulling/pushing the seat in all sorts of ways, Dan offered up his personal phone so I might use the "find my iphone" app to make my own phone sound an alert. Long story short, alert sound was made and Dan was able to quickly snatch my phone. Thanks again Dan! You are a model employee! read more
