This used to be my go-to theatre but the experience has gone downhill in the past year or so. It always seems to be dirty -- from the restrooms to the lobby to several of the theaters. The experience at the concession stand is always a toss up because they are always out of things -- whether it's a lack of hot dogs, nachos, candy, popcorn, or anything else, there is no guarantee you'll get the full concession experience when you arrive. Staff aren't super welcoming or friendly either. Given how expensive a trip to the movies is now-a-days, proceed with caution or perhaps try another theatre. read more

This place is gross, it's in much need of Love attention and refurbishment. They don't have very good service because of low staff so don't expect to get a beverage at the bar and okay with standing in line to get any type of snack. everything in there smells like old wet rag. The seats online depicted are very deceiving so don't expect anything wonderful. The chairs need to be upgraded as well as most movie theaters have made guest comfort a priority. There are other movie theaters to go to so unless this is the last one that has the movie you need to see please find another location. We went to use the IMAX and it was ok, but the seats kill it. Last night I had the chance of going to a movie theatre to watch F9. This theatre was top notch before the pandemic in all areas they have not recovered that well. There was popcorn everywhere the seats were not clean. Granted I hadn't been there in a while I expected so much more and I'm not sure what happened. First time coming to this movie theater and had us wait over 30 min for food serving other people food that ordered after us. We had to tell them to put our food in, in order for them to even start it. Terrible customer service needs improvement. read more

Yeah, 2 stars seems about right - maybe 3. It's sad to see AMC come to this. The ladies bathroom was broken and flooding. The taps in the sink wasn't working. After waiting an hour past the start time, our movie was cancelled. The refund line was 45 minutes long. I got to the front only to be told that because my ticket was purchased through Fandango, that the theater could not refund me. Fandango said that since the screening was cancelled after the start time, the refund had to come from the theater. The one person who was giving us updates did as much as he could with a thankless job. The management here is atrocious. At no point did anyone above a ticket taker make any announcements about the status of the screening. If this manager can't handle a movie theater, then I don't know what other prospects they have in life. read more

I'd give any movie theater 4 stars if it can meet the bare minimum of: selling popcorn and showing the movie. AMC Barton Creek did neither. The popcorn machine was broken. We sat for over an hour past showtime, waiting for the movie to start and they finally told us the showing was canceled. The IMAX theater was filthy and smelled like a locker room. The line for ticket refunds was down the hallway, so we skipped it and went home. I will never go back to this theater again. The kid who had to handle the crowd was patient and professional. Just got back from watching Avatar 2 in IMAX. The auditorium still has the old seats without the recliners. The men's bathroom neae auditorium 1 was out of soap before the movie started. I told the ticket bootj about the situation. After the movie which isn3 hours, there was still no soap. I understand that you guys are short staffed but come on. Lots of guys are leaving the bathroom without soap and that's a nasty sanitary violation. Plus, you had three hours. While it's true that you guys could have been confused for the other restroom but you've checked the other restrooms too? The only reason I am leaving 3 stars is that I am being lenient and had better experiences prior to this review. Please don't let us down. read more

This is the only theatre near us with IMAX option. I dread coming here since it's outdated and never really clean. The staff is nice, but with the recent IMAX experience I might not come back. The chairs are run down, and mine which I selected was broken (K10 in the IMAX one) to the point of the seat hanging down lower so I had to adjust every couple of minutes since I was sliding out of the chair. My back hurt for the two and a half hour movie. I really hope they do some upgrades for the seats soon. Their normal theaters the seats are pleather and often have rips in them. It's just not a great place to go anymore, why also only have one IMAX section? read more

Went to see Avatar: The Way of Water in RealD 3D. Overall good movie, but bad experience. One of my friends developed a fairly strong headache from the 3D glasses provided from squeezing too hard on his temples, so he had to wear it at an off angle for the remainder of the movie...or so we thought. Part way through the movie, the 3D stopped functioning properly and when wearing the 3D glasses, the movie had severe screen blur and saturation patches, completely destroying any immersive experience that was to be experienced. This proceeded for about 10-15 minutes until the devised solution was "well, turn it into a normal movie." So we had to watch the remainder of the movie, while totally fine, without the 3D capabilities. No note from management or service members after the movie about the error or their solution. I would just recommend to either not watch a movie in 3D and honestly take your business elsewhere as this a uniquely terrible experience for myself and my friends who had planned this night for weeks in advance. Movies cost too much these days for this to be the end result of a night out. read more

The worst managed movie Theater I have ever been to in my entire life and I go to the movies every single week. I hardly ever post a bad review, but this has gone on for a year.... eight times out of 10 I had to talk to a manager or had to complain about something, I've never had to do that ever in the past, at any movie theater. It's 9:00 on a Saturday night and there is no one there to scan my tickets, the line was super long and slow for concession and only one person was working behind the counter. I really wish I could give a better review for this theater. I have been here before covid and the theater seemed on par for AMC, but I visited this past Friday and was severely disappointed. The quality of everything seems to have gone down. The lobby seemed old and run down, then we went into our theater. The seats were peeling and some were completely peeled off on the headrest. We got very unlucky and the two seats we had selected online didn't even recline! Either the seats weren't plugged into an outlet or there was some other issue. I was super disappointed because the tickets are not cheap and we couldn't even get comfortable in our seats. After the movie ended I told the front desk staff and they were aware of the issue and did not seem shocked at all that I was letting them know. It felt like they deal with this complaint all day. I gave two stars for this experience because they were very kind about it. Overall, I would patronize another AMC over this location due to the run down nature and broken recliners. read more

First time back in a theater since February 2020, what a disappointment and how much I do not miss theaters. The reclining seats are weirdly narrow compared to nicer theaters, the recliners were broken, 5/10 on the top row of theater 4, so I couldn't even have my feet up :( I could live with this, but then the movie just shut off when there was half an hour left. They just forgot about us until we sent our friends to go ask someone to turn it back on. After the movie I used the single bathroom which had actual feces just on the floor. Nice movie theatre, comfy seats near Barton Creek and it's inside a shopping mall so good to kill sometime. Large selection of movie snacks, including champagne gummy bears, Parmesan crisps among other non-traditional movie snacks. In regard to reviews about the cleanliness, everything was extremely clean including the bathrooms, no foul smell at all. Not sure if it was fixed or just got a lucky day. We purchased our tickets and concessions through the app. When we went to the concession stand to pick up our snacks, they weren't there. A lackluster employee inquired what we ordered, we gave them our order and said "Yeah, I can do that". The popcorn was not hot and not the good AMC popcorn you usually get. One of the soda machines did not have half of the options. The other soda machine dispensed hardly carbonated soda. Once in our seats, one of the chairs did not recline. The family and women's restrooms smelled of old urine. What happened? AMC used to be nice. read more

The AMC A - List is a steal at only $20/month, with a limit of three movies per week. This includes opening night, and IMAX, 3 - D, or Dolby. As an A - List member, you get a large popcorn for the price of $8. However, the popcorn didn't taste as good as Moviehouse, Regal or Alamo and was too salty. I wouldn't purchase it again. Yuck. I was parched when I got home even after drinking a large coke at AMC. I hadn't frequented the AMC since they remodeled, but it's worth a visit if you haven't been in years. The seats are numbered like Regal and Alamo, and we were able to book some of our tickets two months in advance. However, the IMAX seats are the old outdated seats that don't recline. read more

It's a movie theater so you can't really expect much. Expected more out of the IMAX auditorium though. Seats are uncomfortable and don't recline at all. The auditorium itself is gross and unclean. It's stuffy and moist and has a gross smell. Not to mention the seat two down from mine had some white "cream" smeared on it. Just overall a pretty gross theater. read more

Awefully what a let down I used to frequently come to this great movie theater and smells moldy and stale popcorn. How could anyone come here and watch a movie when staff are moody and plain rude. Never again I will not return I am sad this turned out to be a dirty run down movie theater. Someone who wants to wait in line forever when you can buy movie tickets on line is ridiculous what a joke. Can't get past the line so busy. There is other theaters in town that is at least clean and well managed but not this place even though located at Barton Creek Mall uou still are baffled at the lack of service you get. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022) was nothing short of ultimate pleasure for this little crust canary. Dad and his biker friends took me in last night after I had finished violently shaking and sweating from my panic attack. Ever since becoming homeschooled, it's been pretty hard for me to put myself out there in public. His friends knew I was a bit sensitive about this, so they personally approached the other guests and stomped on their large popcorns (to send a message!.. you know the kind!) This movie was a vast improvement from the first as its predecessor seemed to take itself too seriously, which is NOT something Sonic is known for. This flick was filled to the brim with awesome sauce. I'm talking chilli dogs, farts, flossing, & uptown funk galore!! Taking one star off because the theatre nurses wouldn't let me film with flash on. read more

First I'd like to say that the staff at this theatre is very polite and accommodating. That's the the reason for two stars and not just one. The first thing we noticed was the large bucket of popcorn was about 30% smaller than everywhere else in town. We're still puzzled at how popcorn we watched being popped could be stale. The next thing is that most of the seats in our row would not recline and we had to go find the manager and alert them at which point they had to look for seats that hadn't been reserved and then send someone in to fix the seats. BUT THE FINAL STRAW was that despite this being one of the first screenings of the day the bathroom was absolutely disgustingly filthy, the soap dispensers were empty and there were no paper towels. 3 strikes you're out. Nice theatre and I like the kiosk where you can get your tickets. It makes it convenient. The food area and bar is a nice setup to get your food and drink before, during or after the movie. They don't have waiters constantly walking all around the theater throughout the movie, like Alamo, which is nice. The chair seats are a little tight, with not much wiggle room, and there is NO walking space in front of the seats if your recliner is all the way back. If anyone has to leave down ur aisle during the movie there isn't any room for them to walk in front of you. Therefore, you have to put your reclIner down and back into the normal position, inconveniencing yourself, for them to be able to walk past you. I'm not sure who thought of this spacing arrangement but it's not a very good setup at all. read more

What is wrong with this theater? My husband and I came here because I had a free movie ticket to AMC theaters (years of collecting coke rewards paid off) and a free large drink. We had to pay a small surcharge for my ticket due to it being IMAX. Okay, whatever it is what it is. We paid for my husband's ticket at the full price rate for IMAX. Upon entering the theater it was dimly lit and there was nothing on the screen. Strange indeed. We found our horrible cramped seats with our iPhone light and sat down. Our start time for the show came and went. WTF? My husband left to go let management know that the movie had not started. They finally started the movie about 10 minutes after screening time. I was thankful that they started right into the movie so we didn't have to endure any more extra time watching previews in the worst movie seats. Do yourself a favor and skip this place read more

For starters, there's no popcorn--evidently the machine has been broken for days. For the owners of AMC, it should be POLICY for notifications to be shared with online ticket purchasers if the popcorn machine is broken. Seriously. This location smelled like grime and sweat. The employees were Rude. The seats were dirty and sticky. I would not recommend this theater for adults or children--but if you do go, especially with children, bring a blanket to cover the seat, Clorox wipes to clean what you can, and maybe bring your own snacks because the popcorn machine clearly isn't working. I hadn't been to a movie at this theater in a long time and was completely disgusted by how filthy it was all throughout the lobby, restrooms and theater. I am not sure if it is a staffing issue but the trash receptacles were overflowing and trash was all around on the floor. The carpet was black and covered with dropped popcorn pieces and trash. I have seen gas station restrooms in better condition than the AMC restrooms! I will drive the extra distance to go to an upscale theater in the future. AMC as a corporation should step up and take a look at a complete overall of this theater. read more

This is your average, run of the mill movie theater. I'm not sure why there are so many low reviews for this place as I have seen several movies here and have not had a bad experience. They accept Movie Pass here, which is a big plus for me. When I did have a problem with my pass, the staff were very understanding and were able to help me so that I did not have to pay out of pocket. Of course the refreshments here are overpriced, but that is expected of every movie theater. I think the best part about this location is the new reclining seats. Most of the theaters here have reclining seats for every spot in the theater and they make you feel like you're watching the movie in the comfort of your own living room. If I'm not getting food, I actually prefer coming here over Alamo sometimes just because of the comfy recliners. read more

I'd only been to the theater at Barton Creek one, maybe 2 times since I've lived in Austin. I usually go to Westgate or Alamo. We picked this one because the movie we wanted to see was sold out at Alamo and not playing at the other nearby theaters. The theater is located at the mall. They have upgraded their seats since the last time I was here, which is something that needed to be done to compete. The seats here are comfortable, but not as comfy as the Regal seats at the westgate theater. They were a little small too but still tolerable. We got drinks from the concession stand, which were normal movie prices - expensive. The thing is the concession area was super messy. There seemed to be trash around and dirty counters. They have nice soda fountains that you fill up yourself, but there were no lids. I had to ask for lids and I was then directed to the other side of the soda fountain where there were some. Anyway if I was seeing a movie that was at all theaters in the area this would be my last choice spot for sure. I will avoid coming here in the future. read more
