My first impression of AMC Burbank is that it's big & bustling, which is a refreshing change from the ghost town movie theaters I frequent. From the street level, an escalator delivers you to the ticketing booth, & beyond that, long lines for concessions. When we asked for an empty container so we could share our large order of popcorn, we were given a small bucket already filled -- a thrilling & unexpected gesture of generosity. We caught a matinee showing of "Michael" at one of the theaters with an XL screen. The leather seats appeared new-ish but didn't recline. Best of all, no sticky floors!

My last review was about 9 years ago, so it only seems fair to give an updated review. According to Deadline, the AMC Burbank 16 was the highest grossing theater nationwide in 2025. I'd say that tracks - this AMC has huge auditoriums and a good selection of movies. You'll find your usual blockbusters, but they have a real healthy dose of indie/foreign films and special screenings, making it a guarantee that they have something for every taste. This AMC has IMAX, XL, Real-D 3D, Prime, and Dolby Cinema screens. Don't know what any of that jargon means? It means the screens are the bees knees with perfect image and sound - total immersion in the story unfolding before you. They have clean leather reclining seats, but a lot of the auditoriums still have the rocker seats (I don't have any real preference on either). As an avid humble moviegoer, I can say without a doubt that the AMC Burbank 16 remains one of my most frequented movie theaters. The movie selection and experience are hard to beat. Their matinees every day before 4PM are 15%-20% off, so if you're on a budget go early! Only downside is that the escalator/elevator seems to be on the fritz more often than not, so if you're old or disabled it might become a journey to enter/leave.

I visited this movie theater on a Saturday. Unfortunately escalator was not working and I had to get some steps in. lol I had to take the stairs which is fine, but it can be really tiring. For service, I can say most of the employees are nice and friendly, but the lady at the pick up counter was not friendly at all. She looked liked that she didn't want to be there. This theater has a variety of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks to order. Pop corn was really good and my bag was filled fully. You can either order online , at the kiosk or in person( line can be long, but moves fast). This theater was very clean and well maintained. Even restrooms were clean. Seats are very comfortable which makes it easy to fall asleep. Parking is easy. There is a free public parking in walking distance.

Came here to watch the Michael Jackson movie and had a great experience. There's a large parking structure right across the theater, which made things easy. We watched the movie in the XL auditorium and it definitely did not disappoint. Great sound, great screen, no complaints. Would definitely come back to this location again

Came here for the silent hill movie and honestly one of the best experiences I've had. Everyone here is so welcoming and friendly. I was so surprised that they had a full bar and I was able to enjoy my drink during the show. The strawberry margarita was so good not too crazy sweet just perfect. The seats were surprisingly comfy although they didn't recline. The screen was nice and clear and the theater was super clean. I will definitely be coming back 10/10 experience.

Q&A with the actors after the film
    Camille W.

Pretty decent size theater. This is a good spot to see first run and limited release films because sometimes they'll have Q&A's with the actors. I came to the screening and they had Q&A with the two main actors afterward in the front pretty comfortable seats although they're not reclining or heated like the ones at other AMC's. Some of the seats are kind of dirty on the back but as long as you don't look too close closely when the lights come on you'll be fine. There's ample parking in either of the lots one is near the theater the other it's a couple blocks away on First Street.

I visited this location for the first time late last month. I'm an avid movie goer, and have been to numerous theaters around the area. When I saw that this location had just gotten ScreenX, I knew that I had to try it. My partner and I went to go see Project Hail Mary in ScreenX and my goodness, the experience was truly astounding. I've been to 2 other theaters in LA that have a ScreenX and this location definitely shines the most. I know soon they're also going to be receiving 4DX, and I'm really looking forward to that. One thing that I really love about this location is their popcorn. I've also worked in a few movie theaters so i know the process of making Movie theater popcorn, and i will definitely say, this locations Popcorn is the BEST I'VE EVER HAD. I don't know what they put it in it, or maybe they use a specific type of oil to pop the popcorn, but whatever it is, it's working. I love popcorn & I usually go to AMC Citywalk as my home theater, its the closest to me, but their popcorn there isn't that great. So when I purchased popcorn here, my expectations were extremely low, but to my surprise, it was the best I've had. Overall, I love this location and may start frequenting this location more often just because of the upgrades It's receiving and mostly due to the popcorn.

We have been coming here since the day they opened. Location is great in Downtown Burbank. Lots of eateries around the movie theater. The theater is huge with lots of auditoriums. The concession stands are full of snacks and drinks. Overall a great place to go to see a movie. Customer service is ok, free parking structure.

My son and his friends bought tickets to go see the movie Toy Story, they've all four have been working over the summer to save money to see this movie, my son has a disability with his eye sight and can't see very well, he went to the wrong theater and didn't know it was a rated R movie, one of the workers came and asked to see there tickets and told them they were in the wrong theatre, my son and his buddies were cooperating and went to the right theatre however the worker changed his mind and told him to go to guest services, the boys apologized but they are to sweet to speak up for themselves so they agreed and then the person at the front desk changed their mind and said you guys are not getting a refund, at this point my son was very angry, the manager who's name was Josh was very rude to him and his friends, at this point many other people heard this conversation too so if anyone else was there please let me know! my son apologized and told him about his bad eye sight problem , he begged for a refund because this was HIS MONEY HE EARNED, and did I mention that the manger Josh said FUCK YOU to the boys, my son did tell me tho he said it first out of rage but a manager should not act like this it's not acceptable! my son and his friends came back crying because of his rudeness and the audacity this guy has and told my son saying he's going to call the cops?? FOR WHATT? A problem with his eyes so we call the cops??? PARENTS don't leave your kid here alone PLEASE, from one parents to another, It was four boys so AMC a refund would be appreciated and an apology, my son and his friend saved the ticket however the other two boys didn't but they were next to each other

I want to preface this by saying this review is about more than popcorn (delicious, by the way) or the sound quality of the room. It's about creating a space where accessibility needs are met and providing equal access to entertainment. Scrolling through multiple locations and searching for Open Caption showtimes was frustrating and tedious. Fortunately, while navigating the website, I was able to complete a form and request an Open Caption public screening for "Freakier Friday" at this theater and a preferred time slot. Three days later, I received an email from AMC saying that my showing was scheduled! Note: We didn't have ten people in our party, but noticed that quite a bit of people still purchased tickets for this public showing. I don't know what their needs are, but they all stayed and seemed to enjoy the movie nonetheless. Thank you, AMC, for being deaf-friendly and making the theater more accessible. My friends shared that they had frustrating experiences in the past, specifically with the personal captioning devices (I.e. not charged, incorrect/missing content, strain from looking at the device and screen, etc--this is not an occurrence with AMC in particular, but in general when using the device). We were so happy that we could experience this together rather than waiting for the film to hit streaming platforms. Thank you for providing the on-screen subtitles. It was an enjoyable and truly memorable day for us. Management: Please consider scheduling open caption screenings weekly/more regularly rather than waiting for formal requests.

4+ One of a few AMC theaters in the area. This particular location is the largest with most screens. The structure and size makes this feel like one of AMC's flagship locations. There's even a cool Batman statue out front. In terms of concessions, it's pretty standard, which is a good thing. If you don't want the food here, the location is blessed with lots of food options around it. Came here not too long ago (5/2025) and watched the live action Lilo & Stitch. The sound and comfort of the theater was great. Just a great theater and location although it's not the perfect overall experience. I'm a fan, but I personally would try to go when the area is not as busy. The parking and crowds can get pretty congested, but it's what's expected in dense high traffic areas like this.

Been awhile since I've been to the movies

AMC Burbank 16 Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - AMC Burbank 16

Can you take food inside from outside?

    Yes, you can.

What is the best solution for people who are biking to the theater? Are there secure bike racks or bicycle parking that is under surveillance? I bring my locks, but as we're aware that there are more important factors that deter bicycle theft.

There are bike racks near the ticket booth on the ground level. The AMC employees are not security guards though, so if you're that worried about your bicycle get a ride or take the bus.

Does the IMAX theater have reclining seats?

They do recline a little. But not as far back as AMC's signature recliners.

4/12/22, does anyone know if the A/C is working at the Burbank16 yet?

    idk

Where is the closest parking for handicap and elevators to the theater?

The closest parking garage is off of N 1st Street (next to Yard House). The elevator to the theater is directly on the opposite side of the ticket box office.

Are they checking for vaccine card in 2022?

No, they just require you to wear a mask

Are they asking for vaccination verification?

No; I've never been asked for this information.

    Is parking free?

Yes there is a complimentary parking garage and you can also find street parking as well.

Do they offer theater rooms with "reclining seats"?

Yes, they offer two theater rooms with reclining seats. One is the Dolby Cinema room and is $7 more(+3D cost if applicable) than the regular theater. The other is the Prime AMC room and is $4 more(+3D cost if applicable) than the regular theater.

Does this location use IMAX Laser projectors with their 12.1 channel audio?

While I can't attest to the audio, I can say that this location does, in fact, use IMAX Laser

    Sell beer and wine?

Yes! There is a MacGuffin Bar

Do the rows curve with the screen in the Dolby Prime theater? Similar to Woodland Hills?

There is a Dolby AND a prime theater. I am assuming you are referring to Dolby, whose name used to be Dolby Cinema at AMC Prime. The first three rows (A-C) have a slight curve. The rest do not. Hope this helps!

What's the difference between 16, 6 and 8? Why are there three different AMC theaters within like 1 street it's very confusing. Are they all the same thing?

Basically they are all the same, it's just the size of the theater. One has 16 screens versus having 6 or 8 screens. AMC 8 is located within the mall. AMC 6 is close to In and Out. AMC 16 is close to Islands.

Does this theater offer a "cry room"?

    No it does not

What time does the box office open on Saturday?

As early as 10am I believe (possibly a little earlier). At least a half hour before the first Showtime. You can also download the amc app and get digital tickets anytime of the week in advance.

Is this a real deal Imax with the large screen or just an Imax experience? What are the screen sizes of both the Imax & Dolby screens? Thanks in advanced.

This is the real deal imax.

Is it assigned/reserved seating or General Admission?

    It was General Admission.

Is there Spanish movies or Spanish subtitles?

All the years I have been going there I have never seen that.

How is the IMAX/IMAX 3D in this theater?

The IMAX Was amazing! I didn't do the 3D yet. One of the best IMAX : seats super comfortable and roomy; biggest and clearest screen. I highly recommend trying this theatre.

I'm attending the Day One of Oscar Movie Showcase I went when they first began this event so excited! It used to be that we were allowed to bring in our food does anyone know if this is allowed at this location?

Unless stated otherwise by your event they do not allow outside food. That they can see (wink)

My wife ordered a Gummy Bear Shot that was tart and sweet and very enjoyable. On the food side, the menu is filled with the greatest hits of casual, sports bar foods, but all kicked up several notches and more interesting than the usual. My wife ordered the Truffle Burger, replete with onions and mushrooms and cheese. The trappings were all very tasty, and the burger itself was packed with flavor, and came cooked to a very proper medium rare. The side of lemon-pepper fries were hand cut and crispy, though the citrusy tang wasn't my thing. A tad less successful was my Pastrami Sandwich. The meat, listed as house-made, had good flavor but was tough. The kale slaw with it also had good flavor, and the slight bitterness was a nice foil for the rich pastrami. Onion rings were excellent, and (regardless of the lemon-pepper) the better bet as a side. All in all, this is a great, comfy place with a good menu and a really welcoming staff. I'd go back in a heartbeat to try the wings and pizza, both of which looked excellent when delivered to neighboring tables.

I had passed by this restaurant before but had never been curious enough to actually stop in. This time their drink menu advertised outside caught my attention so I figured "hey, why not?" From the moment I walked in i was trying to figure out whether I liked the atmosphere or not. The music was excellent, but the décor took me a second to process. It felt like an 80s lounge crashed into a neon Día de los Muertos inspired art gallery. It's most definitely not a quiet, cozy restaurant. It has more of a loud, colorful, party style personality. I was seated promptly by a kind hostess but I wasn't attended to by a waiter for nearly 10 minutes. Once my waiter did come by he was kind, quick, and professional. Now, I'm going to be honest.. I'm pretty picky when it comes to Mexican restaurant food, so I didn't have the highest expectations. I ordered the potato taquitos, a Jarrito Loco made with watermelon purée, vodka instead of tequila, and chamoy on the rim, plus chiles toreados and one carne asada taco. Laugh all you want, but I was half expecting the food to come out looking like a cafeteria lady had splattered it onto a plate... I was genuinely impressed by the presentation instead. The potato "taquitos" were bigger than I expected so don't let the "itos" fool you. They were crispy, flavorful, filling, and honestly so delicious. Those get a 5/5 from me. My drink was also incredible. It was refreshing, especially with how hot the day was, and had just the right amount of alcohol. The presentation was so cute I almost felt bad ruining it. Easily one of the best drinks I've had in the Burbank area -- 5/5. The carne asada taco wasn't as impressive as the potato taquitos, so I'd give that a 3/5. The chile toreado was definitely spicy, it just needed to be salted a little more but otherwise no complaints! I need to remind myself not to be too quick to judge because I was genuinely surprised by this place. The décor wasn't fully my personal style, but the food and drinks more than made up for it. I'd definitely come back again, especially for the potato taquitos and drinks.

After seeing the boy server staying by the host desk (not checking on us) I had to get up and ask him if he could bring the chips and salsa that comes with the table. He said, " oh, you want some? Do u want guacamole too?" Again reiterating , " whatever comes with the table pls". I was left perplexed given that last i was here i didnt have to ask for the chips and salsa, they automatically came when they brought the water. And if there was a change in policy they should state it somewhere within the restaurant so there is no confusion among guests. The place was 98% empty. There shouldn't have been any reason for such an experience. We ordered probably $180+ worth of food and drinks. And after the long wait for the drinks and chips and salsa, I told the other server and what im assuming is the manager(?) "You know, im just going to cancel my order" They were talking among eachother, and I told them "we are leaving because of the server" . They tried to remedy it by saying that a certain other server can take over the table instead of him. I just couldnt stay there any longer. The place was insanely empty and there shouldnt have been no reason to not be attended to properly. Probably 40 minutes in total and we only received our waters to the table.

It really needed an acidic component to bring the flavors out or an aioli. The fries it came with were divine though! I subbed for waffle fries and they were oh so crispy! Corpse Reviver - Get it. Just get it. Refreshing with just the right amount of alcohol I want to taste in my drink hehe. Food came out timely, staff were helpful and attentive. Great place for a group of 4-5 - anymore and it'd be too crowded as they don't have big tables. Loved the vibe of the place. I really want to like LIKE this spot so I think I'll get something else entree wise next time!

The only downer was the incredibly rude hostess. She spoke rudely to us upon arrival. And even more rudely upon our departure. She rudely chastised us saying that we weren't supposed to leave through the same door we entered the dining room through. We were amazed at her rudeness. She appeared to dislike her job. She would be the only reason we wouldn't come back. My wife and I spent a hundred and twenty five dollars there. Well worth the spend, even though she almost wrecked it. The drinks are amazing! You don't have to wonder if they put alcohol in them lol! Bravo!

Once the hostess sits you, she opens a secret door that doesn't even look like a door and you're transported into a pirate themed restaurant! The vibes were amazing and the customer service was great! When I went it was a 15 min wait for a table so I ended up just going to the bar and got served right away. The drinks and food were really delicious and I want to try everything on the menu! I got the fish & chips and I am blown away by how many dipping sauces you can get! Their fries were the perfect amount of crispy and I loved that the malt vinegar came in a spray bottle. I'll definitely be back to try more things!! Can't recommend this place enough!

The customer service & drinks however were solid. The staff was excellent. They asked how long we had waited and apologized when I told them it had only been about 5 minutes, which honestly wasn't bad at all. I appreciated that they acknowledged the wait since most restaurants don't even bother to ask. Our server was also lovely sweet, warm, and quick with our orders. For drinks, I ordered the Orange Yardsicle and the Lavender Drop. Both were tasty, but I personally thought the Lavender Drop was the better of the two. For food, my sister ordered pasta with chicken while I ordered the poke dish. I finished my plate because I didn't want to waste food, but the dish itself was pretty underwhelming. Honestly, the soy sauce is what saved my taste buds. My sister didn't really enjoy her pasta either. She said it tasted bland, and the chicken portion was quite small. We probably wouldn't come back for the food, but maybe for drinks and dessert or appetizers. That said, we do appreciate the staff for making the experience pleasant despite the food being disappointing.
