Ehhh. It was Ok. Honestly it was a bit of a letdown. I have been to both luxury theaters in Las Vegas (North Las Vegas and Henderson) and even one in Bangkok, Thailand(Siam Paragon Mall), so I was pretty pumped to experience something similar in Phoenix during a recent visit. I'm sorry, but this one just did not stack up to the others. It wasn't horrible, though. Our party of 4 went to see the latest Transformers movie in 3D. Matinee tickets were fairly priced at $11 each. Not a problem there. The picture and sound quality were on point, which made the movie easy to enjoy. The A/C was set at a nice "deep-freeze" level, which I greatly appreciate during the face-melting Phoenix summer! However, there were a few things that were lacking here... - the seats did not fully recline, which was probably the biggest disappointment here, they would ease back a few inches...but thats it...ehhh..not impressed.. - you just hit a button by your seat to order your food, and while our hostess(?) was very nice(and busy), it got to be distracting from the movie, when you ordered, than when you received your food, than when you got your bill, again when they picked up all the tabs, again when they returned for your signiture, and yet again to deliver your receipt.....and if you want refills, of course you will be visited again.. I understand its all necessary, but i would miss snipits of the movie here and there and it wasn't really an optimal situation.. - $4.50 for a 20 oz soda...ouch...at least kiss me first! -$8.50 for a popcorn, one size only....comparable to a medium at most other places...with 1 free refill..popcorn was tasty though Overall, it wasn't bad...but I have simply experienced better. 3 stars. read more

Supper annoying to order and have it "delivered" to you in the theater. Ordered everything for delivery at the staff-less kiosk and they only brought our popcorn. They told me I was supposed to grab everything else... Everything is sitting out, why not have someone working the counter instead? Everything automated takes the fun out of the movies for me and the staff wasn't helpful. My chair squeaked and the armrest was torn up, seat did not fully recline. Definitely needs a serious overhaul in my opinion. And finally, I used to love their popcorn. Not so sure if the recipe was changed or not in the past couple years, unfortunately. read more

I now know to wait until movies are in those or until a Tuesday when no one else is around so I can put my feet up in the uncomfortable rocker chairs they have. This AMC is located in the Biltmore area near the Ritz-Carlton and has a parking garage behind it which did not have a fee. The area in which this AMC is in has a lot of shops and the corridors are architecturally detailed. The service was great from entrance to exit especially the waiters during the movie. They came in about twice during the movie even though we didn't ring (press a button for service). The menu is pretty large. Most of the food is of the "American" variety. The desserts were tempting but overall it was a bit pricey for the type of food offered and serving portions. The best part of this theater has to be the giant cherry red recliners. The most comfortable movie theater seats I have ever enjoyed a movie in. The screen and movie display was relatively the same as any AMC, nothing special there. Oh and this theater has a full bar instead of a candy case in the lobby. That has to be an incentive for some people. Candy and popcorn can be found on the menu received when seated for your movie, don't worry. read more

My first experience at a Dine-in Theater! Such a great idea, like seriously this is the connecting link between purchasing foods at concessions and a dining experience at the theater. I came here with Khoa N. to watch Guardians of the Galaxy and previously booked our tickets online, love how you can choose where your seats are located so you don't have to worry about other people stealing your chair and all that nonsense. Once seated we looked over our menus and got our orders taken. I had an Appletini and we shared a small order of Onion Rings and Buffalo wings. The drink was good, delicious with that alchy kick. Food is decent, think Applebee's or Red Robin's quality. Overpriced? Hell yeah, but it's the novelty of being served food and eating a full on dish inside a movie theater. Only cons were Khoa's beer glass was luke warm and dirty. For a dine-in theater I expected it to be a lot louder during the showtime, but the noise level was pretty quiet. Comfy big chairs and alcohol during a movie? Can I get another hell yeah? The service was good, we were served and brought the bill. The servers weren't too distracting either. If you park in the lot, get your parking ticket validated before you leave it's right by the exit. I've been going to this movie theater since I moved to Phoenix 2 years ago and usually had a pretty good experience. Last night, I went to see a movie (rated R) and was spoken to extremely rudely by the clueless, condescending 18-year-old employee. She took my ticket, then repeatedly demanded to see my ID. I am nearly 24 years old. When I told her that, she looked at me with the most idiotic look on her face and said in a baby voice, "I have to, you look REALLY young." I showed her my ID, she saw how unbelievable disrespectful she was to an adult customer, and she didn't even apologize. I have never been ID'ed to see a movie, even when I was a teenager seven years ago. I don't even get ID'ed to purchase alcohol. I am shocked that AMC would allow a high school employee to speak to adults that way and I will not return to this movie theater. read more

I've been to this theater several times. It is a bit pricey compared to most. I invited a friend to this facility. And OMG! he is still complaining about the admission. That was my fault. I should have given him a heads up. I like the place. You can choose your seating when you purchase your ticket(s). The seating is VERY comfortable...oversized, recycling seats! Don't sit on the very back row...you won't get the full effects of the these seats. Staff come around before the start of the show to take your food and beverage order. However, you can purchased a beverage and/or eat prior to entering the theater. The staff has always been pleasant and knowledgeable of the menu items as well as the what's currently playing. Went for the first time with my partner to see a movie tonight and we had ordered food ahead of time before even driving there. We expected it to be served to us just like how they catered to everyone else. We go see if there's someone we can talk about this issue we had and no one was available. Half way through the movie we go check if someone can help us serve the food we paid for. The employee didn't want to make the food and pushed us to get a refund. Watched a movie with my wife, daughter and her friend today. Overall I was not impressed with the theater. It was hard to find parking in the garage. I had to drive around 3 times to get the last parking space only to walk up the stairs and see that there was an empty 2nd floor yet the ramp to the second floor was blocked. We ended up paying $10 to park which is a total rip off in my opinion. I didn't see anywhere to validate parking (if there is they didnt make it clear or easy to see). There are plenty of other theaters with more available parking that is free. The restrooms were dirty and looks like they need a total remodel. When we bought tickets there was a $6 convenience charge to buy tickets. Not sure what was content about buying a ticket, or why they charged more than the ticket price for the convenience of buying one. That made no sense to me. The theater is very nice like the atmosphere was great. Also it was clean and the wait staff was very attentive. Unfortunately, when I attended 9th of march 2024 i had a parking validation issue. I use the Esplanade as I'm an AMC A List member. I love the seats especially the recliners, but this is where the positive features stop. I've had numerous times where I've ordered soft drinks, where they have been wrong. Like how did I receive this from what I ordered wrong. I've attempted to address it with staff, and its never been corrected. Food has always been good and hot, but sometimes its a challenge getting essentials like silverware. Maybe they have a shortage or something. Super strange. I remember asking for silverware after not having it, and still not getting it. Thanks to my neighbor, she had some that she offered and I was able to use. There are also episodes of where the parking validation machine does not work correctly. I had one example of where it stamped my validation and it looked good, but when plugging it in the machine at exit was charged $9. I had to start a chargeback because of it. Also at times, you will have to deal with juvenile adults that don't understand that you don't kick the seat in front of you just because you can. It's worse than being on a Spirit airlines flight. Lastly the bar is a plus and drinks are good, but expensive. Don't come here to get your buzz on. All in all for the best experience, eat before hand and if you need something to drink smuggle it in. read more

After one visit, I would never come back here again. Literally every aspect of our experience was incredibly disappointing. Staff was unhelpful, uncomfortable seats, horrible popcorn, and small screen. PASS!! At the ticket counter, the staff member helping us struggled to ring in the order and there was an overall chaotic and unorganized energy coming from both her and the other employees despite the theater being nearly empty. We order the food and drink deal, but she rang up our food and drink incorrectly costing us more money than it should have been. It was clear I had never been to a dine-in AMC before, but she did not take the time to ask and explain their processes. We had to ask where the theater was, how we got our drinks & popcorn, etc. Instead of making me feel welcome, she made me feel stupid for not knowing. The theater was very uncomfortable. The seats were big which I appreciated, but they were hard as a rock. There are lights on all the seat numbers that were extremely distracting to me. And the screen was the smallest one I've seen in a long time. When we got our popcorn, it was the worst I have ever had in a theater. Cold, hard, flavorless crap. We asked for a new bag, but it was never delivered. It took me 3 stalls in the bathroom before I found one that was able to be locked and not dirty. Then having to pay to park on top of it?! Hard pass. This was nearly $100 date night all said and done, and it was thoroughly disappointing from beginning to end. Despite being an AMC fan, we will never come back here. Do not normally post reviews but felt this was necessary. Last night showed up for a sold out limited screening and was informed the projector was broken and showing was canceled. Fair enough, but since all tickets were purchased online, noticed could have been provided. So we decided to see another film as there are 13 other operating projectors i guess, to which there were a total of 4 people in the theater including us. So AMC cancels a sold out showing and instead runs a movie for 4 people? Who is managing this company? No wonder they are nearly bankrupt. First trip to a movie theater in more than 5 years and my first to a dine-in, which we enjoyed once we FOUND it within the Esplanade complex. Lobby was clean and attractive. The entire complex as well as the theater in which we watched The Last Jedi was nearly empty for a 9:45 showing on a Sunday night, but appeared clean. All interactions with staff as well as movie sight and sound was more than satisfactory. We ordered popcorn ($9), 2 iced teas, and a brownie sundae to split, totaling roughly $30. This was was delivered to our very comfortable seats in a reasonable time by a polite young server. Men's room was decently attractive and reasonably clean, with minor qualm that on such a slow night, seems like someone might have picked up the paper towels overflowing the trash bins somewhere in the two hours between my initial visit and after the movie. This was my first time here and I loved it! I liked that I could buy my tickets online and you could pick your own seat. I also loved the big comfy chairs. What's up with that light right behind the seats though? You can even dine in or buy drinks. What's not to love? I'm new to this area so I really didn't know what to expect. I didn't know if they allow you to take snacks and drinks inside. i stopped and bought a soda at McDonald's and no one seemed to know if the theater allowed you yo bring drinks. The parking sit. The only problem with the theater parking structure is that the elevators don't work, so you're instructed to take the stairs on the west side. This is a good theatre. Tickets are $5.00 in the morning, the seats are comfortable and the service is friendly. Plus, how many places can you pay $5.00 to see a show and then share a bottle of prosecco? Plus, the prosecco was a decent bottle. If you are going here to eat really amazing good, you may be disappointed. This eat-in theatre is good for the classic popcorn, candy, nachos and does have a couple of decent appetizers such as the pretzel bites, I recommend shying away from the sushi and seafood choices. read more

My wife and I came here last night for dinner and a movie and the food is inedible and made us both sick. I would never eat a thing from this place again. The food is absolutely disgusting. We ordered buffalo chicken that tasted really weird, mozzarella "sticks" that aren't even in the shape of a stick, onion rings that were completely undercooked and soaked in grease, and a pepperoni flatbread that shot me in the face with burning hot grease when I took my first bite. In hopes of entertaining an 8 year old child this past Saturday night , we decided to pre-purchase tickets to The Lion King at AMC Dine In Esplanade. We have always loved Ipic in Scottsdale and the fact that it's service at your seat and that it's posh , pre-reserved seating. Take note , this is FAR from an Ipic experience. We could not wait to spoil this 8 year old boy that his parents had entrusted us with. Our U of A daughter who saw The Lion King with her older sisters so long ago came along too. The movie was great .. the filth... I am still reeling from. First of all, the staff took an exceptionally long time to clean the theater ( #13), prior to letting us in for the movie. We found that odd ; they kept apologizing as we waited outside the roped off door area until almost 1710, the movie was to begin at 1715 mind you. Later I understood, they show about 30 minutes of ads. Great idea with antsy children. Once we had entered the theater and found our seats, our shoes were sticking to whatever sticky stuff was on the floor; our seating area was anything but clean. I was instantly regretting this decision to show this child a movie with a 'dining experience '; He may go home sick ! My table area had used Kleenex that I promptly pushed to the floor. There was popcorn and trash in the cup holder that certainly wasn't mine. The waiter came and took our orders and he proceeded to pick the Kleenex up and PLACE it back UPON MY AREA!!!!! GAHHHHH! But we had ordered at that point .. it's done and were committed, I thought. Now here is the shocking part: I ordered a wine and so did my husband; when it was delivered, FOR some ODD reason the staff was now too lazy ? to deliver to our side of aisle where they took the order and proceeded to hand this child , ( an obvious small child !) and a young looking girl two carafes of wine to pass down to us! Had we not looked over and noticed this , I promise the child may have drank the wine , because he had ordered a grape drink and well, red wine? You get it. The waiter came back and I flagged him down to tell him to NOT do that again; did that stop this group of inept staff from serving meals and drinks to the child to pass over to us? NO. The child's drink was served in a large glass with no top. NO wonder this place is a complete trash can ! One would think that a child's drink would come in a child's cup: smaller cup; plastic maybe ; a lid ? The same idea with the over priced popcorn .. handed it across to the 8 year old again.. some of it spills and they give no napkins. I ordered a smaller wine and again, reminded the waiter to NOT serve wine to the underage children and walk it to me .. But he did and he also served a large wine that I didn't want. I also had to call him back and say 'Are you going to take these dirty dishes away ?' 'Oh yeah , I guess ' , he says. Really ? Speaking of my meal: I have major food allergies and asked that the Shrimp & Steak Bowl be just shrimp & NO almonds. It was mostly rice and for nearly $18 , very blah. When I got to the bottom of bowl there was steak .. and it was not good. In fact, I wasn't sure it was edible , at all. It tasted that bad. I now was worried because of the filth and lack of concern over everything in this place that they may have disregarded my allergens on my order & I stopped eating immediately. One call to the ABC and it's possible this place would pay attention to how alcohol is served. $49.22 for 4 tickets / 176. for food /3 wines / popcorn / candy .. Worst $200+ ever spent in 2019. This review is mostly about the Dining aspect of the theater experience Went here after work on a Friday hoping to grab something to eat and drink while seeing a movie with a few friends. Two my friends ordered wine and the wine never came, they had to ask them to bring it out about 40 mins later. My other friend and I ordered food at the exact same time (simple stuff right off the menu) my food came out about 25 minutes after we ordered but my friends food didn't come until probably an hour after we ordered. When her food finally arrived it was COLD! She politely asked for warm fries, and they took her entire plate of food and NEVER BROUGHT IT BACK! She finally just asked for them to cancel her order. The service or lack there of was embarrassing, all we did was order a couple of chicken sandwiches and that couldn't be accomplished. If I end up at this theater again, no food or drinks will be ordered. read more

I will say the theatre is overall a success. Dine-in theatres seem to be trending nowadays instead of the uncomfortable rows of old, and even with several competitors now sitting in the Valley, the Esplanade hasn't changed much. Which may not be a good thing. Tickets will be a little pricier due to the couch seating and the opt-in dining service. Unlike some of the recently renovated theatres, the seats don't recline, but there's plenty of cushion to make it work. The tables swing in from the side like a desk, and there's a call button behind you on one of your sides. The food selection is actually good. I think it's better than Studio Movie Grill myself, just think of an Applebee's that doesn't suck. They can swipe your card when you order and you'll get a check near the end of the movie. With dine-in theatres you have an expectation. Inevitably someone will drop their forks on the floor, and you'll have to deal with people constantly walking around to bring your orders. Then it starts getting a little mediocre. Service to me has been slower compared to other dine-in theatres. Last couple times I go here, sometimes it'll take up to 10 minutes for a call. Which I get when it's busy, but sometimes I don't see any movement at all. Well at least there's validated parking. But even with a sick bar and a clean theatre, Esplanade feels complacent to me. read more

Used to love this theater but I'd much prefer going to one where I get my own food because the service here is SO SLOW. My husband and I turned on our button the other night at the beginning of the previews which were about half an hour and nobody came until about 15 minutes into the preview...and then I had to get my phone out and shone a light on my ID for them which was annoying because hello I'm trying to watch a movie lol. I moved my tray and THERE WAS A DIRTY HALF EMPTY WATER GLADS IN THE CUP HOLDER. EW. So I tried it again, I'm here right now. It smells like rotten piss where I am (L5 in room 14 if anybody reads this) service was once again slow af and during the beginning of the movie even though I pressed the button well before. Sigh. I've come back a few times to give this location another shot since my last review and unfortunately still the same sad experience. This location has so much potential consider the fact that it is in the heart of the Biltmore area. Plenty of parking in the garage which is validated for four hours. Easy access to restaurants and shops for a night out experience but not worth paying extra money for service that is not up to par with restaurant standards. My last experience was on July 4th at 1:20 pm. My trays were nasty. So bad that I went to the restroom grabbed a paper towel to wet it and wipe the trays that I would be eating on. Imagine going to a restaurant and eating at a dirty table. Same situation. My menus were sticky which seems to be an ongoing issue at this theater. My server was quick to come take my order but did not receive everything which is kitchen error as I saw him type it in. The first thing to come was my fries not our drinks. They were luke warm. No silverware. The whole row I sat in did not have napkins or utensils. After asking three times for it and wait staff delivery food who kept telling us it was coming it never came. After nearly finishing my food, along with everyone else in my row who all had to eat our food without utensils. I walked down to the bar to ask for it. I was told they ran out and it will take 15 mins to clean everything. I asked for at least paper bar napkins because popcorn butter and pizza grease is not fun all over your hands. The server provided me with some and came to drop off silverware 15 mins later. By that time we were done. No apology. I understand things happen but we should have been told this every time someone asked. I find it disappointing that a dine in theater did not have the proper utensils to provide when serving meals. I wish they had the recliners in every theatre, so I generally select the movies with the recliners available. They have a decent menu with a lot of really good cocktails. I had the mojito last time I was there and it was really good! The food is decent nothing too special, but they have good burgers. Super fancy! I like how you can order while watching movie. The only downfall is that it could be very annoying since they keep walking in front and we can't focus on the movie but that's normal for a theatre like this, nothing too serious. Service was ok, it wasn't fast. The popcorn did come early except the drinks where we waited for about 40 mins! But that's ok. Maybe next time, you guys can give the drinks a little faster. We got the basil strawberry drink thingy & the titosaurus. Titosaurus was ok & the basil strawberry drink was good. We like the fancy red recliner chairs. This place is good for dates! Only 32 seats in the theater. They are luxurious and motorized fully reclinable old man leather couch chairs. So comfy. Sound was great. Matinee prices very reasonable. I did not take advantage of the full bar or waitstaff food service, but may next time. Location is sort of odd, across the street from mall area; but there is a walkway underneath the busy street. read more

What the heck!?!? This place has gone down hill. Can't get any good service in the dine in theater. Not too mention we sit down in a dirty theater, food on my seat and trash on the floor. Who ever is running this joint should be fired! Last time coming here. One more thing. The suite theater is no longer adults only apparently. We used to love going to this side of the theater on date night so there was no children or teenagers disrupting the movie. For sure AMC has killed this location. read more
