Well, the website says that courtesy of Covid they are operating at 40% capacity, dope! Waiting for News of the World to begin with my Wonder Woman tin full of popcorn I WAS READY. They started at 5 stars because it most def was at 40% capacity, almost no one at the show I watched! Down to 4 stars after i realized my popcorn wasnt even fresh, WHAT?! Ya'll aint even busy...cant make fresh popcorn as shows begin? But in the end they found theirselves at 3 stars, maybe it was because of Covid but eveey theater had their door open...huh? MY FAVORITE THEATER - WITH THE DOLBY ATMOS. this is our go to theater when a new movie comes out. we always go see it in the dolby atmos theater for better sound and better picture. sometimes the food counter is a bit slow but the crew is very nice and movies are always great. read more

After reading the reviews, my partner and I chose to go to this theater anyways. Big mistake !! Huge !! The one star goes towards the fact that our chairs reclined. The entire theater was filthy, like SO gross. Plus the popcorn was awful and cold? It was under a heat lamp... it was also flavored with a sweet (?) coconut oil. I'm not lying when I say it made me physically ill, I was sick for days after consuming that popcorn. I will never go to this movie theater or other AMC's literally ever again. came to this theater specific to watch the movie Imaginary as it wasn't showing at my go to one. tried using the AMC app to purchase tickets for $5 ticket Tuesday and it wasn't discounted via the app so i awaited to purchase tickets in person. went to the self-serving ticket kiosk and was still running into issues. asked for assistance and the worker was helpful and i was able to make my purchase all while over hearing another guest asking for help because she was running into the same issue. at our seats there was trash and food in the cup holder and floor. which wasn't even the worst part... whatever setting the projector/movie screening was on was so low contrasted i could barely make out the movie during dim lit scenes. i could over hear the kids next to me complaining to their parents they couldn't see the movie and i felt their frustration. as a movie goer i wouldn't waste my time with this theater again. i could get past a little hassle and mess but not the display quality of the movie. read more

A pretty great theater for what and where it is. However, it could really benefit from the Laser projector upgrade as seen at other AMCs. So as of now, the visuals no longer stack up. Additionally, some theaters have screens that are slightly off-center (you won't know until you arrive/the app will show seats as centered), and the theater has a bit of a weird automated concessions ordering system that can slow down the lines a bit. However, it is probably still one of the best theaters in the area, no doubt. read more

The concession area is a terrible experience the computer screen is very challenging to use adding multiple of one items and it wasn't just me the people in front of me were double charged as well. When you're arriving to the theater just in time for a movie the time it takes to order your food and then step to the side and wait for someone to make it takes twice as long as it used to. We will not be returning to this theater again. Edited to add: once I finally asked the manager for help because I waited 7 minutes and still no popcorn or 2 cups to get my drinks he never acknowledged my concern. Unfortunately AMC Mesa Grande was a huge disappointment for our mid-day family outing to see Across The Spider-Verse. The cleanliness of this theater is seemingly non-existent; the flooring around the concession areas and Freestyle machines was filthy, the Freestyle drink machines were extremely dirty around the paddles and in the ice chute with plenty of long-dried syrup splatter around the backsplashes, and ice wasn't dispensing from multiple machines. On closer inspection, the walls behind and above the freestyle units are caked and covered with fuzz, dust, and dirt balls which tells me these units are not maintained properly at all and are not even having basic housekeeping and maintenance performed on them regularly. Speaking of unsanitary issues, the men's restroom nearest the Dolby auditorium was also in need of major housekeeping as well, specifically the Dyson hand dryers. The units closest to the right hand sinks had residues from human fluids (vomit? Spit?) dried inside the area where one places their hands to dry. It was so filthy and disgusting I did not dare place my hands into the dryers. Seating in the Dolby auditorium is also beginning to crack and come apart and is hit and miss. You'd think that by paying a premium for a Dolby experience that the seats you'd sit on are going to be well-maintained but considering the cleanliness issues in the rest of the theater one should not be surprised at all about the condition of the seats. Bear in mind, our arrival was just a short time after 12pm so the filth seen today was not at the end of a bustling Saturday summer evening when many hundreds of movie goers had already traipsed through the doors. These unsanitary surfaces and housekeeping issues certainly stemmed from poor or non-existent cleaning overnight... or maybe over the past two weeks, even? I don't recommend this theater in its present condition, nor do I recommend anyone who is concerned for their health visit it, either. There is no excuse for the conditions of the few things I observed today and if I had looked deeper I am certain my revulsion would be greater. Go elsewhere, thank me later. read more

There was a huge six-foot gap separated by two railings between our seats, which wasn't indicated on the app when selecting our seats. I'm really unhappy about it. The manager was less than useless -- he was rude and dismissive. We'll just stick to The Majestic or Regal from now on. read more

It's a big empty movie theater with a cold atmosphere. I understand a lot of things have gone touchless since the pandemic but it also allowed businesses like this one to offer the bare minimum when it comes to customer service. Not sure why this theater isn't 5 star. Maybe too many folks are used to sitting on their couch amd not used to interacting with other humans. The staff was extremely friendly and very helpful with directing to theatre. The concession prices is what to expect on prices. There is a full bar and kiosks for all snacks and popcorn. The staff is very helpful also helping out. The soda station and condiment are extremely clean. The entire lobby was also clean and tip top shape. Listen I don't know where all these complaints are coming from - I was just there the other day and overall the experience was awesome. It seems people can always find something to complain about. However I think if people could just get over always being so catered too all the time - and learn how to enjoy the fact that they get to go and enjoy a movie with friends and family and not be stuck at home - well that would be great. Now as far as Water CUPs that should be FREE! Arizona is hot and when you have a lot of kids it's just too much to ask to pay for. Period. I think this is the best AMC in the east valley. I live closer to the one on signal butte but drive to this one because it's just better. The theater as a whole is cleaner and has better amenities. The ticket matches at the front work and make it easy to pick up or purchase tickets. And if you need help there is always someone close by to help you. The workers are friendly and helpful, I've never had an issue with any worker. They are also super quick at the concession stand which is nice. The theaters have better show times, although I wish they had more early morning shows around 9 AM but they normally have 10:30 or 11 which isn't to bad either. This is the theater I go to for my AMC stubs and A list and you should too. read more

We went to a 10:45pm showing of The Strangers Prey at Night and a few other people were still trickling in at that time. The front outside of the box office was closed but there was a sign that sent you inside to buy your ticket. We were helped right away and the employee even gave us a drink and popcorn coupon. Only one concession stand was open so it did take a couple of minutes for us to order our snacks. The coupon was great as we only paid about $6 for a drink and a small popcorn, thanks. The seats are super comfy and they also recline. There is a ton of room now to get to and from your seat, so don't worry you won't bother people going to your seat. The movie was good and it ended around 12:10. We exited the room and headed to the bathroom. The bathrooms were NASTY. The first three stalls that i tried using had used toilet paper all over the floor. The sink area was also pretty gross and even the trash can there was overflowing! Paper towels were also just chillin on the floor. Yuck. Outside of the bathroom it seemed like a ghost town. There was not a single employee in sight. Trash bins in the lobby were grossly over full and there was a ton of popcorn on the floor right in front of the soda machines. It was so eerie being there as we felt like we were the only ones there. The renovations to this place are very nice. But hey, what's the point of having such a beautiful remodel when the employees can't even maintain it nice or clean. read more

I went to see Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom, with my mom for Christmas Eve and we had a great experience. We purchased our tickets through the AMC app and it was very convenient. Then when we got to the theater. I wanted to purchase a drink so the bartender, Dagmar, helped me with a drink. I bought the Sea King drink since I was going to see Aquaman. Then she made the drink with extra care . I then told my mom about the drink and she purchased an Apple Orchid cider drink for herself. The drinks were great and the movie was even better. We appreciate our experience at the Stapley AMC Grand theater. And a big shoutout to Dagmar for the great drinks! read more

I hadn't been to this theater, or to the movies, in two years since the pandemic so I was very excited to go see Top Gun Maverick!! I was hoping this theater had improved with cleanliness especially since the COVID pandemic. But unfortunately on Fathers Day 2022, I had another subpar experience when taking my dad to this movie theater. The concessions were around $36 for two popcorn tubs and two large drinks. The popcorn was fresh & hot but there was a butter shortage, for one bucket we were told we could only have one side of butter. None of the butter pumps were working either. The drink stations were so filthy, sticky and not working. I didn't see any employees cleaning any of the stations or concession area. All of the 5 or 6 Freestyle soda machines were either broken/unable to dispense, out of half or more of sodas (at 11am) or producing watery soda with no ice available. My first 5 soda selections weren't working on any of the machines. I asked an employee and he said he has no idea how to fix the machines or why they're malfunctioning. We were about 15 min late to the movie because of the concessions debacle. Also the screens that are outside of each theater number to tell you which movie is playing, none were turned on so weren't sure we were at the right theater until we got our phones out again. I think on a huge holiday weekend like Fathers Day and with the cost of concessions, none of these problems should be occurring. read more

Took my kids to see a movie here. Some employee approached me telling me I couldn't take my kids to see a Rated R movie after a certain time. First of all, they're my kids. I do not have a babysitter on call whenever I want to or need to. Secondly, they are MY kids. Last but not least, the movie I went to take them to was PG 13......Another employee de-escalated the situation by explaining to the other guy that it was a PG13 movie and I could take my kids to see it. I feel like I shouldn't need permission from an overly priced often messy place. Some of the seats I have sat down on do not recline. Hearing that a certain movie is their "Scariest" I don't need to know your opinion. I am there to take my kids and wife to see a movie. My kids happen to be horror fans like their old man. For these few reasons I will not be giving this company anymore of my time or money. read more

Checked in for the showing of Avengers at 11:00 PM in Dolby on 4/27/2019. It was a disgusting experience, to say the least. If you look at the pictures I uploaded, it's clear that no one had been cleaning the most populated areas most of the day. The check-in process was easy because we bought our tickets in advance on the website. We used the new kiosk at the counter to order our food, and the machine kept deleting our order and making us start over. The process was not any faster than ordering with a worker. They gave us our popcorn, and I had to return to the counter and ask for a fresh bucket since the popcorn they gave me tasted like it had been sitting out for awhile. The trashes were overflowing and looked exactly the same upon exiting the movie theater 3 hours later. The soda machines were horrendously dirty, and, according to another customer, the machines were out of a lot of drink choices (Coke? How can a movie theater be out of Coke?!). I didn't see a single employee cleaning the hallways, emptying trashes, or cleaning bathrooms the entire time I was there. The employees were very polite and friendly, but the quality of the theater is not worth the price. We paid $40 to see this movie in Dolby and another $20 for popcorn/soda, and I expect a clean theater at the very least. We will not be returning to the Mesa location, and we will either drive to Tempe or go to Harkins at Arizona Mills. read more

Came in today to watch the minions movie with my girlfriend and enjoy a nice snack but was served very poorly. In this experience they gave me my popcorn which was clearly sitting out for a longtime as it was cold. They handed out our popcorn and cup 10 mins before they gave us our order of mozzarella sticks making our food even colder before sitting down. Additionally AMC has horrible self service soda machines that were not maintained. From buttons not working when pressed and all the drinks being out it made the experience even less unenjoyable. read more

We came to see Guardians. It was showing in theater 12. Theater 12 is smaller, has assigned seats, and the seats are plush and recline. The most comfortable movie seats I've ever been in. This is what a movie experience should be! It was almost like being home except with a bigger screen and a few other folks around. I don't know if all the theaters here are like this, but #12 certainly is. A very comfortable experience. This may now be my favorite theater. read more

I got tickets to 2 showings to Little Mermaid as AMC stated I would be getting a commemorative ticket with my purchase of a Dolby ticket for 05/28. I was going at 7:15PM and 10:30PM showings. I was told they were out of commemorative tickets at the 7:15PM showing. There were only 3 other Dolby showings today. Now by my calculation if you have 5 showings and know how much the maximum seating capacity of a theatre is you can multiply to know exactly how many commemorative tickets you would need to satisfy your promotion. I wonder how many veterans and families of veterans they fucked over Memorial Day Weekend to sabe a few bucks. It is currently 55 degrees outside and so cold in this theater that huddling under a thick sweater is not enough. A small popcorn is $10, and is bland, with an artificial coconut-tasting oil. Everything is done by kiosk, so the personal touch is gone. Seats are somewhat comfortable, but I wouldn't go so far as to call them luxury, particularly as I have to rely on the warmth of my body heat on the plastic behind my back to keep me from shivering.Still, they'd need to be a bit larger to convince me I'm not on a rainy terrace. Maybe my popcorn profit alone could allow them to raise the heat two degrees for an hour? I don't see the need to to bother with this place anymore, which is a shame, because it used to be the best. read more

We were at the theatre for the 6:45 showing of John Wick and I am very disappointed with the way people with disabilities are treated. ADA customers enter the theatre by taking the elevator up to the second floor. There is a family bathroom up there but it was locked the entire time. So during a three hour film you have to walk to the elevator, go downstairs, the walk all the way across the theatre to the washroom then back. If you use a walker and struggle with a mobility issue that is a big issues. Not to mention you miss a big chunk of the showing. I think you can do better than that. Also there is a lack pf disabled parking. There are only about five spots yet there are ten spots for restaurant carry out that do no business. So if you have a walker you get to walk across the pot hole ridden parking lot. I know that is a landlord issue but why not put them on blast? read more

I like this theater because it is close, has comfortable reclining seats, and I'll never go back to open seating movie going. Buying tickets via Fandango or Atom is quick and allows you to bypass ticket lines and there is no need to rush to the theater or get there super early to get seats, since seating is assigned. My only gripe is that every time I come here, there is always an issue with the concession stand. We went to a weekend showing for Deadpool 2 (brilliant movie btw!) and the ice machine was out of ice, the pretzel bites were gross, and mid way through my popcorn bucket I was eating ass popcorn, you know the burnt kernels and crumbs at the bottom? So disappointed, and I know it's theater food, but it is sub par to the other big theater chain here in AZ. We went to this AMC due to my friend having a gift card. It was a Sunday afternoon but not crowded at all. We got a drink at the bar- it was a bit overpriced. Plus, the bartender took several minutes to pour a beer because there was so much foam. The system was obviously not working properly and he wasted about 5 cups of beer just to get one beer to serve. We go to Fat Cats a lot & their prices are better and their actual served product is better. We got snacks right away due to there not being a lot of customers. The concession area was trashed! Plus the area where the soda machines are was a wreck too. There were plenty of employees so it was unclear why no one was cleaning. Also, the pretzel bites we ordered were terrible. Probably the worst snack item I have ever gotten. They were served to us cold and tasted stale and disgusting. For as much money as this theater charges, they need to significantly step their game up. From now on, I think I will stick to Fat Cats. This AMC visit was by far the worst movie going experience I have had. This location needs new management badly. read more

Please, for the love of everything, hire some human beings. This theater has so much potential. The seating is comfortable, screens are in good shape and the audio is above par. Great location, too. Unfortunately, the ticketing process and concessions are an absolute nightmare. What should be a 30 second interaction with a person becomes a 5 minute battle with a touchscreen kiosk that struggles to respond to touch. Furthermore, even getting to the kiosks can be a frustrating experience because of the line that results from the horrid automated service. And once you do finally get your food and drink cup, you better start praying to the cinema Gods that you pick the one soda machine that may actually have ice to dispense. Speaking of the soda machine area....can we please get a broom and mop in this establishment?! My shoes haven't stuck to a floor like that since, well...since the last time I went to this theater. Straw wrappers, popcorn and so much more all over the floor. If you are fortunate enough to escape this sticky jungle with a full cup of beverage, I advise you to drink it slowly. You do not want to have to use the restrooms here. The stalls are frequently closed for one reason or another (they were all closed in my most recent visit), "substance" all over the floors, paper towels overflowing from the trash can, etc. An absolute mess. I'm writing this review because I care. This is my home theater and I have been going to it since before it turned to this. I would have much rather voiced my opinions to someone in charge, but that would require seeIng someone in charge. And I do visit this location 6-12 times a year. So, my most recent experience was not a one-off, but instead the cap of a continuous downward trend. Please, bring back the human element. I understand that minimum wage is continuously increasing and costs as a whole are rising. But the $12 an hour you are saving by eliminating that employee is going to cause you to lose my $12+ ticket purchase, as well as the $10+ for my kid's ticket and all of our concession sales.
